Ximen on the other hand felt successful having soon closed the merger, it has been one of his goals to tie up with another company so that he could very well expand. His father called him a few days ago after having been informed that he was to merge with Chien Group of Companies. He was proud of him having chosen a good company to merge with and that he trusted him in his decision. He also informed him that he and his mother would be coming back on the day of the party for he wouldn’t want to miss such a big undertaking of his son.
They decided to hold the party in Maple Hotel since it was such a short notice and that it will be easier talking to Dao Ming Si than other hotels. He has been staying away from Xiao You since she saw her happy on her own. As much as he wanted to reach out to her, she seemed to be slipping away from him and he could only stare at her from afar. He has been staring at her, looking for any sign of the old Xiao You he knew. The one who loves him and the one he has loved but he never saw any sign of her since every time he looks at her, he would be caught and he would just immediately turn his gaze onto something else.
Hidden from Ximen, there was still the Xiao You he knew but she was afraid to come out in the open for she was scared to gamble her weak heart again. It was enough for her to get hurt twice but thrice would be unbearable. Sometimes, she wanted to run to him and embrace him for she saw so much emptiness and sadness in his eyes but she had no right to do so. She just kept everything to herself in order to spare her the hurt once more.
Ximen wanted to show her his love that he only knew just now but he was held back by his uncertainties. He had fallen for her unknowingly and now that she was in front of him, he didn’t know what to do. He was inexperienced on these matters and knew nothing about it, Xiao You was the only one who showed him what it is but back then he opted not to reciprocate it for he didn’t knew how long it would last and that he didn’t want to hurt her.

It was the day when they will sign for the merger. Once again, they were in the conference room looking at the polished contract before them. Soon, when everyone was finished reading it, Ximen and Xiao You moved towards the center of the table. Xiao You was the first one to sign then she passed it on to Ximen as she continued to sign several copies of it then handing it on to Ximen. After signing, the staffs present in the room applauded as the two of them shook each other’s hand.
Upon contact, both of them felt a different sensation that was new to them. They acted nonchalantly to each other but inside, something was squirming in delight. Both of them had no chance to speak as people hurriedly went towards them to congratulate them. Ximen opened a bottle of champagne for the celebration and reached out for two long stemmed glasses. He poured some on each and proceeded to Xiao You.
Xiao You was shaking her hands with one of her staff when she heard him speak.
“Xiao You...” He called out joyfully as he handed the glass of champagne.
Xiao You accepted it as she held it up and to him and exclaimed, “Cheers”.
Ximen also did the same thing and then finished the contents if the glass.
Moments later, Drew came to Xiao You and hugged her tightly as he lifted her slightly.
“Congratulations Rainie!” Drew said.
“Hey, put me down, your congratulations was enough.” She replied to him laughing as he gently put her down.
Drew’s face became flushed as he placed her down.
“It’s okay, I know you’re just happy for me. Thanks!” She told him smiling brightly as she kissed his cheeks.
Ximen wanted the floor to eat him as he looked at Xiao You with the man who lifted her, his jealousy and anger towards the man was again rising and for nth time he was tempted to give this man a dose of his punches. He had no right to do so and probably lost the chance to be the one making her smile and laugh. How he almost broke the glass that he was holding into shattered pieces when he saw Xiao You kiss Drew.
When all of the people finished congratulating them, they both headed home to prepare for the party tonight.

Maple Hotel
The Grand Ballroom of the Maple Hotel was fully packed at around 8 o’clock in the evening. Everyone in the business plus the press graced the event without hesitation. Everyone was enjoying the champagne as they waited for the event’s stars.
Ximen’s and Xiao You’s limousine arrived at the same time, Xiao You was wearing her Michael Kor’s black tube gown with her necklace and bracelet from Tiffany woven collection in 18 karat gold while Ximen was sporting his Bill Blass white suit over his white V-neck cotton shirt. Both of them stared at each other as they went out of their respective limousines.
“She looks so elegant in that simple gown. Underneath her business attire is her perfectly shaped body with her fine curves. She simply takes my breath away. ” Ximen thought silently to himself as he continued looking at her.
“This is the first time I saw a businessman in an all-white suit. God! Why does he have to look that delectable in that suit with his perfect smile.” Xiao You thought as they continued staring at each other.
Ximen didn’t know what took over him but as they walked silently at the lobby barely inches away from each other, he unknowingly crooked his arm and looked at her with a smile plastered on his face.
Xioa You was shocked at his gesture but managed to be composed as usual even though his smile is sending her to heaven and took his arm into hers. She didn’t know why it felt so right to be with him at this moment. She only took his arm for it was polite to do so and she didn’t want to embarrass him.
Ximen smiled all the more as she took his arm. He was glad that she took it and couldn’t feel more jubilant walking alongside her. Of course, he knew that they were expected to come in the room together for it was their party but it was just merely a coincidence that they arrived at the same time. And at this time, there was no Drew by her side to piss him off.
Xiao You also knew what the people expected of them. Drew was supposed to come with her but at the last minute he forgot something and had to follow her there instead. Drew was leaving for Chicago later on in the evening but still would attend. Xiao You then wondered as to why Ximen didn’t bring a date.
Ximen didn’t bring a date along with him for he knew that he and Xiao You would make rounds to the guests to thank them for coming and talk to them shortly. Normally, he would bring one but just for tonight he decided not to.
As they entered the Grand Ballroom of the Maple Hotel, heads of the famous businessmen turned to them as the photographers started clicking their cameras. They proceeded to the stage smiling brightly as they did while entering. Ximen started making the announcement as soon as the crowd settled down and Xiao You continued on with some of the details. The people applauded as they heard the announcement for the merger. The press began asking questions as they alternately answered them.
