Hyekyo walked around her house but she felt numb and lifeless. She felt as if the night had drain away everything from her. Hyekyo tiredly sat down, not knowing what to do. She want to laugh but at the same time, she wanted to keep on crying.
Why laugh? She wanted to laugh at herself for being stupid. For loving Minwoo even though she already know that in Minwoo's heart, there will always be Meena, no one else. Why cry? She wanted all her pain to disappeared. She hated herself.
Hyekyo heard the phone rang. She slowly picked it up. "Hello?" she said to it in a faraway voice.
"Hyekyo?"
Her herat skip a beat. Minwoo. 'What do you want? You already broke up with me..,' Hyekyo thought. She wanted to say it to him but she decided against it. Maybe letting go was the right thing. "Yeah Minwoo?" said Hyekyo, trying to sound normal and casual.
"Hyekyo...are you okay...?" asked Minwoo after some moment of hesitation. He felt really uncomfortable.
Hyekyo felt tears sprang to her eyes. 'Okay? How was I'm suppose to feel better??' she thought. But she swallow that comment down and close her eyes so it won't hurt so much. "I'm okay..," she answered.
She gripped on the reciever tightly until her skin was white and it hurts to hold as she opened her eyes. Minwoo didn't know what to say. "If this is all...then good bye..," said Hyekyo and she began to hung up.
"Hyekyo, no!!" cried Minwoo. "What I really meant to say...was...I'm sorry..."
"Minwoo..," said Hyekyo. "I don't accept apologies from people. It just don't seem right. So please...don't apologize...and beside...it don't matter. Faith can do anything with us. And anyway...being friends can last longer than being lovers..."
Minwoo nodded. "You're right...you always are, Hyekyo...," he said. "I guess that's what I like about you, you know. You can always see the light in the dark..." Hyekyo gave a small smile.
"I gotta go, Minwoo. Goodbye..." Then without further more, she simply hung up. Hyekyo buried her face into her hand. She was obviously trying not to be in so much pain but how can she help it? She got a shower of pain washing over her body.
"If the heart is the strongest organ..," said Hyekyo to herself, "then why is it so easy to break?" She took a deep breath to calm herself down. Hyekyo stared at the ground for some time before standing up to face the day.
When Hyekyo enter her shop that day, she sat down and started serving customer. Few minutes later, Meena appeared. Meena had apparently moved back in with Minwoo since he had offer his place for her again. Meena didn't say anything to Hyekyo so both kept quite except talk to the customer.
Maybe it was because Minwoo ahd went between them and had play on of the friend. Hyekyo was sitting down with her coffee on a lunch break when she saw Minwoo entering the shop. He saw Meena. "Hey Meena! Ready to go out?" asked Minwoo.
"Sure oppa...just let me get my jacket from the back of the room..," said Meena as she turned on her heel and walked to the back of the room. Minwoo smile after her until her figure disappeared. There was a thick silent in the air except for the sipping of the coffee.
Minwoo flashed his eyes over to Hyekyo. She seemed pale and fragile as she sip and stare at something in front of her that seemed to be unseen by other people except herself. Hyekyo seemed to be lost in her own world but she wasn't. She was right in the world with Minwoo but she chose not to speak to him.
"Hyekyo...," said Minwoo but by then, Meena had already came out with her just-bought jacket on. She quickly rushed over to Minwoo.
"Okay oppa! I'm ready!!" said Meena. She looped her arms around Minwoo's and the two walked out. Minwoo felt guilty about leaving Hyekyo alone in the shop but Meena was by his side and he do love Meena more than Hyekyo. He pushed his guilt down and walked off with Meena.
Hyekyo's eyes went towards the back figure of Minwoo and Meena. She stared at them until they got into the car and drove off, disappeared for the lunch hour. She bit her bottom lips then went back to sipping her coffeee lifelessly.
