(Michelle’s place)(10 p.m.)
The sounds of keys tinkling woke Michelle up from her daze. She stood up, and approaches the door as Jess walks in smilingly, closing the door after her. Jess lifts her head up, keeps her grin and looked at Michelle quietly.
MICHELLE: (finally spoke up) Since when have you been together with Sammul? (Jess kept quiet, lowering her head by 15 degree)(Michelle raises her voice by 15 decibels) Since when? Tell me? Why are you doing this to me? You lied! You lied, my dear sister… how could you… (breaks down) How could you do this to me… (squats down) Siu Yuet, why? (sobbing)
JESS: (feeling guilty, but trying her best to keep it from her) Ka Jai, don’t be like that… (squats down)(takes a deep breath) Do you still love Sammul? (Michelle lifts up her head and looks at her quietly) Do you? What about that Charcoal?
MICHELLE: I… I feel really hurt when I saw you and him together… I am not sure about my feelings for Raymond, I just knew I miss him when I don’t see him and when I see him my heartbeat hastens…
JESS: (shakes her head) Now what does that mean? You want both? It’s impossible… (stands up and walks away)
MICHELLE: (stops her) But how could you do that to me? I’m your Ka Jai! (she cries out loudly)
JESS: (takes a deep breath) Ok, I’ll tell you the truth, we ARE pretending, pretending to be together… it was my idea, I wanted you to make up your mind, Ka Jai… Sammul Gor didn’t do anything to upset you, and he never will, because he just love you too much to have the heart to hurt you! (pauses for a moment) Now you’ve known the truth, you shall decide for yourself, and I shall wash my hands off your affairs! (walks into her room)

(In Jess’ room)(She calls Sammul)
JESS: Sammul Gor?
SAMMUL: Jess? What’s the matter?
JESS: I have something to tell you… it’s about Ka Jai…
SAMMUL: (getting uptight) What was her response? Did she…
JESS: I don't know if our plan is successful, she just can’t make up her mind…
SAMMUL: Even when she saw us “dating” just now?
JESS: (sighs) The minute I stepped home, she questions me about it, at first, I continued to act as if nothing has happened to test her out, but she broke down and…
SAMMUL: (feeling guilty) She cried? Jess, I told you we shouldn’t carry it too far!
JESS: Then I told her the truth… I can see that she can’t forget you on one hand yet missing that stupid Charcoal on the other… (sighs) I really don't know how to help you now… looks like… She’ll really need some time to ponder it over…

(The next day)(Jess arranged to meet Raymond at a steakhouse)(12.20 p.m.)
RAYMOND: (walks in) Hey, you’re even earlier than me…
JESS: (seriously)Take a seat, Mr. Lam, I have something to talk to you…
RAYMOND: (sits down and drinks a sip of water) What?
JESS: (firmly and clearly) Leave my sister. (Raymond almost choke on the water)(Jess repeats again) Leave my sister, will you? She already has a boyfriend, and a great one, she doesn’t need you…
RAYMOND: (shoots out) Hey kid, look who you’re talking to… what right have you to stop me from seeing her? We’re now moving towards the 21st century, mind you! There should be more love freedom!
JESS: (rebukes angrily) Do you need to break them up, you Charcoal! They have been so happily together until your appearance… Do you know you’re irritating? Do you know how much pain you have brought them?
RAYMOND: (shockingly) What Charcoal? How dare you give me such a name! If their relationship was really THAT unshakeable, then even a typhoon couldn’t separate them, let alone me! Let’s just say, they have little feelings for each other now, and I’m doing them a great favor by putting their relationship to a test, and it failed…
JESS: (agitated) You broke them up, you did, Charcoal! And you, as the 3rd party, is still sounding so righteous, backing up your crime with such ridiculous and nonsensical excuses!
RAYMOND: (angrily) Crime? (lets out a gasp) Aren’t you exaggerating here? It’s not a crime to love someone, and there is no absolute right or wrong in love. I love Michelle, so I just want to make her happy, it’s that simple! What do you understand, have you been in love?
JESS: (looking in all directions) That… That is none of your business! You said you love her, but do you understand her, do you know what is her favorite food, idol, singer, color and all that! And most importantly, do you know what her dream is? (sweeps her right hand, and it brushes against the knife placed on the table, there appears a slit on her hand while blood oozes out) Ouch!
RAYMOND: (going over her side, holding her hand) Are you ok? Do you need to go to the hospital?
JESS: (ignoring him) Hey I haven’t finished my…
RAYMOND: (cuts in) Hey that’s enough! Attend to your wound first!
JESS: I’m ok, I don’t need to go to a hospital! It’s not that serious!
RAYMOND: Fine. I’ll get you a plaster. (grabs her hand) Let’s go…
(outside the restaurant, Jess is sitting on a bench)
RAYMOND: (running back with a packet of plaster) Hey, give me your hand. (unwrapping the packet)
JESS: (stretches out her hand while he puts on the plaster for her, she looks at him in wonder) Don’t you hate me?
RAYMOND: (looks up) What?
JESS: Or at least dislike me? Hey I’m against the idea of you and Michelle together, don’t you hate me?
RAYMOND: (smiles) Well, you could be my future sister-in-law, so that’ll make it up. Loving a person means loving all she loves.
JESS: (smirks) Fat hope! In my heart, my brother-in-law will only be Sammul Gor and no one else!
RAYMOND: It’s done. (looks up) Look at how blindly you are supporting your “Sammul Gor”… I think you must be in love with him…
JESS: (protests, blushes) I’m not… He will be my brother-in-law… (stands up and loses her balance)
Raymond caught hold of her in a second and holds her steadily. Jess looked at him, blushing, while Raymond felt his heart skip a beat. Raymond was still holding Jess by her left hand, eyes glued to her lovely face, and her long hair flies beautifully in the gentle wind, Raymond slowly releases Jess’ left hand, using his right hand to touch Jess’ right cheek slightly. Jess moves away, and break away from him…
RAYMOND: (stuttering) I’m sorry, just notice dirt on your face…
JESS: (looking down) Is it? Emmm… I’ll get going… bye…(walks away hastily)
Raymond looks at Jess leaving, and he was confused. Was his liking for Michelle just an infatuation? And Jess reminded him of that? She was right, he didn’t know about Michelle’s dream, but isn’t that understandable? But there was something he had observed, although Michelle enjoys his company, she would sometimes stay in a daze, was she thinking of Sammul? He wondered.

(Michelle’s place)(2.30 p.m.)
MRS CHAN: (walking towards Michelle) Sum Yin, where’s Siu Yuet, I asked her to get me a bottle of pepper when she went out, and she’s not back yet…
MICHELLE: (turns to look at her) I have no idea, mum…
JESS: (opening the door) Mum! I’m back! (closes the door) Ka Jai, what’s the matter? Why are you staring at me like that?
MICHELLE: Emmm… I have something to tell you…
JESS: Ok, let’s go to your room…(to Mrs. Chan) Mummy, here’s your pepper. (walks into room with Michelle)
(In Michelle’s room)
JESS: (sitting on chair) So what’s up? Want to tell me about your relationship affair again? You’ve finally decided? Or what?
MICHELLE: I’ve decided to give it more thought before I decide… meanwhile, we three shall just remain friends!
JESS: (sighs) You’re forever so indecisive! But you’re right… you should really consider it over clearly before you decide… it will concerns your future happiness… (in a daze)
MICHELLE: (laughs) What are you so serious out of a sudden… I need to concentrate now, it’s my final year in U and I need to concentrate on my thesis, other things can wait…
JESS: (smiles)(gasping) Emmm, so how is your thesis going? Got all the information you need, our future social worker?
MICHELLE: (thinking) Emmm…Three quarters of it done! (jumps up) I left one page of it in Sammul’s office when I was borrowing a book from him that day!
JESS: Huh? It is urgent? (Michelle nods her head) Then you’ll better get it back ASAP!
MICHELLE: But…
JESS: (jesting) Why are you afraid of facing him? I thought you have decided? Just face it, sis! (Michelle went deep into thought…)
MICHELLE: I think I really need to talk to them… but I’ll collect my page first! (walks off)

Michelle had arranged to meet Raymond and Sammul, and Jess just insisted to tag along, but she is hiding at a corner to watch them… it was a sunny afternoon, and the flowers were blooming well in Victoria Garden…
MICHELLE: (To Raymond and Sammul) You are here so early!
RAYMOND: (smiles) What have you to tell us, Michelle?You’ve made up your mind to choose between us? (Sammul was standing 3 metres from Raymond, waiting anxiously for Michelle’s answer)
MICHELLE: (takes a deep breath) I’m sorry I have been indecisive all this while, and now I’ve finally made up my mind… (smiling to Raymond, then to Sammul)
She walks towards Raymond slowly and hugs him tightly. Sammul walks away in disappointment… Michelle releases herself from the hug, and whispers something into Raymond’s ear.
MICHELLE: (turns around and calls out loudly) Sammul!
Sammul turns around and stopped there. Michelle gives him a bright smile, and runs towards him with a speed of 10m/s… and throws herself hard into his hug… he was shocked, surprised and overwhelmed.
SAMMUL: Why… (break free and looks at her) You… (smiling and stuttering at the same time)
MICHELLE: (seriously) At first, I didn’t know how to decide, but when I stepped into your office yesterday… I saw a surprise in store for me!
SAMMUL: You mean…
MICHELLE: (nods, and smiles) So you’ve have it planned, you cunning guy! (turns around)
SAMMUL: (walks in front of her) Yes, I still remembered your dream, which is to design your own dream house, and therefore I’ve drawn it out for you… but as you know, I have an unhappy childhood, my dad abuses my mother and left us, so I always feel inferior to others, and seldom talks to others about it… I had prepared the drawing long time ago, and had wanted to tell you about it, but then… (looks at Raymond)
MICHELLE: (guilty) I’m sorry, it’s my fault… I knew you love me, and you’re the one who truly understand me… as for Ray, I only just found out it was just a moment of infatuation… (smiles) I should have known that earlier!
Sammul smiled at her, while she hugs him tightly again. Indeed, when dreams come true, the world seems like yours, and all the other things around you are no longer important… After a long hug, they break free to continue their passion with a long-lasting kiss…
JESS: (walks towards Raymond, scrutinizing his reaction) Hey, are you alright?
RAYMOND: (takes a deep breath) You are right! They are the real pair made in heaven…
JESS: (curiously) What did she tell you just now?

PS: Sorry I'm 5 minutes late, but it's still now her birthday. Happy Birthday Dear Michelle! Sorry this chapter is a bit rush! And Sorry, no magic here...
