Chapter 13

- Forbidden feeling -

“Ohayou Uemura-kun!” (Good morning Uemura-kun!)

“Ohayou.” (Good morning.) Jaejoong answered casually. His eyes were already wandering about the place, trying to find Aya.

“Where is Aya?”

“Aya? She went to the nearby lakeside to complete some paintings for the upcoming art exhibition.” Aya’s mother explained as her hands busy spraying waters to her beloved plants. Recently it has been a new hobby for her, taking care of the many plants she has.

“Art exhibition?” Jaejoong muttered.

She stood up shortly after giving the pot of plant before her one last spray of water and turned to face Jaejoong.

“Care to help me with garden?”

“Sure.” Jaejoong smiled softly and reached out to grab the watering can on the floor before following her out to the garden.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaejoong finished helping Aya’s mother at the garden after a couple hours and yet Aya still hadn’t came home so he decided to go find her. Jaejoong didn’t know why he was rushing but not long after he was panting as he arrived a distance away from where Aya was at, sitting on a wooden chair facing the partially finished painting on a wooden stand.

He just stood there for a moment staring at Aya intense focus on her work. She was lifting her paintbrush horizontally towards the horizon with her eyes squinted slightly adjusting her angle. He noticed her ears plugged with earphones and traced it down till the sight of a iPod hooked on the belt of her jean.

Jaejoong lifted a light smile to his face as he finally approached her, expecting her to not realize his presence with her intensity in her work in addition to the music to her ears but she turned to look at him just right when he reached her side.

“Don’t you think you have enough work for today? I am sure your stomach has sent signal of hunger by now.”

“Stop teasing Kazuki. You know better that I won’t mind skipping a meal or two a day when I get into my work. I practically feel nothing until I completed my masterpiece. Like you don’t know that.” Aya chuckled as she took off her earphones.

“Right…” Jaejoong answered awkwardly as he bit his lower lips. Of course he doesn’t know that. He isn’t the real Kazuki after all. He mentally curse and slaps himself for a move that blew his cover slightly. Luckily Aya was too into her work to notice the awkwardness Jaejoong was feeling.

“Guess you won’t be needing this then.” Jaejoong still decided to go on with his plan and held out a pack of sandwiches to Aya.

“Well, now that you mentioned it… I am feeling a little hungry.” Aya snatched the sandwiches from Jaejoong and practically gobbled the first piece in 3 bites. Jaejoong bent slightly and stared amusingly at Aya’s eating expression.

“Oh, it’s time.” Aya forced the food down her throat and shoved the remaining sandwich to Jaejoong, who stared questioningly at her.

“Thanks. And mind taking this too?” Before Jaejoong could reply, Aya already tossed her iPod to him and waved her hand to a gesture for him to move away from her.

Jaejoong rolled his eyes and sighed in annoyance but then his gaze shifted to the horizon and it hit him why Aya acted so sudden.

It was the most beautiful sunset he has ever seen. The orange glow from the sun blended up into the sky and down to the lake surface, causing gradient of pale pink to the sky upward the horizon and gradient of purple downward to the water.

Aya wasted no time capturing the scene into a work of masterpiece. Her paintbrush moved swiftly from her paint palette to the painting; even her fingers stained from smearing the paint equally to certain portion of the painting which her brush couldn’t reach its best effect.

Jaejoong’s eyes were glued on her as he shifted himself to sit under the tree nearby, leaning his back against the tree. He was mesmerized by her passion to painting. The way she was so focus that a serious expression was plastered on her face with the usual smile she shows on her lips now portrayed through her eyes instead. It was a side of her he never seen through these period he stayed with her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aya had finally done the painting and threw her gaze up to the horizon. The sky sunk into dark blue as the sun was now replaced by the bright round moon with its star companions filled most of the clear sky.

She raised her hands up straight to do a little stretching, twisting her body to the right and left. As she was doing so, her gaze landed on Jaejoong under the tree. A smile curved up her face as she stared at the sleeping Jaejoong squirming a little to reach a more comfort position before he stayed still asleep again.

‘He must have been tired just waiting for me. But his sleeping face looks so adorable.’ Aya thought to herself as a giggle escaped her mouth.

Aya bit her lower lips and her eyes widen as a thought suddenly popped into her mind. She stood up and crept to the lake, making sure not to wake Jaejoong up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaejoong still had his eyes shut when they suddenly scrunched together as plopping sound was drawn to his ears, disturbing him from his sleep. He slowly opened his eyes and wandered them to where the sound was heard. His eyes first caught the sight of a pair of legs moving in the water of the lake with the jean rolled up to the knees, then he raised them up some more till reaching the person’s face, noticing it was Aya.

“Aya! What are you doing?” Jaejoong jumped up from his position as his mind digested the image of Aya now standing in the middle of the lake.

“Kazuki, you woke up.” Aya just smiled innocently at him before continuing what she was doing.

“Aya, get back here.” Jaejoong removed his shoes roughly and tossed them aside before he dipped his legs into the water, approaching Aya’s side.

Aya bent her upper body down as she scooped the lake water up with both her hands and show it to Jaejoong.

“Kazuki! Remember this? That time you said you could get me the moon. And it turned out to be the reflection of the moon in the water you scooped up on your palms. What a trick it was. I was silly to actually believe you for a short second then.”

With the water still scooped in her hands, she moved slowly towards Jaejoong, yet careful to not spill the water from her hands.

“Aya, just stay there. I will come to you.”

Aya didn’t listen and kept walking towards Jaejoong. But then her foot stepped on a slippery rock below the water and she lost her balance. She yelped as she was about to fall into the water.

Jaejoong reacted fast and sprint up to her, holding her by the waist before she fall and reeled her close to him. Their eyes met and silence lingered between them as they held in that position, just staring into each other’s eyes.

Jaejoong soon regained himself, realizing the position they were at and pulled Aya to stand up straight again before releasing his grip from her waist.

They somehow felt awkward and both looked to the opposite direction, letting silence filled in for the moment.

“Erm… we should get going now. I am sure your mother will be worried.” Jaejoong was the first to speak.

“Yes…” Just then, Aya’s sight landed to her iPod by the tree, and also her unfinished sandwich on the dirty ground.

“Ah! My sandwich!”

“No!” Aya was about to rush there when Jaejoong grabbed onto her wrist, stopping her. As she whipped her head back and their eyes met again, Jaejoong quickly released his hand and cleared his throat.

“It is already dirty. Don’t bother. I am sure your mother has prepared dinner for us back home.”

“Right… I will go pack up my tools then.”

“I will help you.” Aya smiled as a thanks to Jaejoong. He picked up the wooden stand and wooden chair whereas Aya packed all her art supplies and her iPod into the bag she brought along and carried her painting, which was now covered by a cloth. Aya’s usual liveliness didn’t break in the moment as they were quiet throughout the whole journey back home.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day, Jaejoong was strolling passed Aya’s art room when he halted, hearing a loud sigh coming from it. He walked backwards and stopped by the door, peeking through the gap of the door and saw Aya facing the blank canvas before her. Her hand was cupping her chin with a finger tapping her jaw and her eyebrow furrowed looking like she was struggling for ideas.

Jaejoong knocked his knuckle on the door before letting himself in. He walked towards her and stopped behind her, bending his upper body slightly so his face was leveled with her shoulder as he looked over to the blank canvas.

“Hmm… is there an artwork hidden behind this whiteness?” Jaejoong teased.

Jaejoong’s words made Aya laughed for a short while before she sighed heavily with her head slumped down.

“I have been staring at this canvas for the whole morning. Nothing is getting in my head. I think this upcoming art exhibition is stressing me out.” Aya frowned at Jaejoong.

“Your artworks are incredible! You have nothing to stress out about.” Jaejoong tried to comfort her.

“Many people from all over the world will be there to display their works. This is huge. I don’t think my works deserve to be there with them. But Siwon insisted and I didn’t want to let him down.”

“Siwon?” Jaejoong muttered. Aya just sighed heavily, staring back at her blank canvas. Jaejoong placed his hand on her shoulder and she turned back to look at him.

“Is there anything I can do to relieve some of this tense from your shoulder?”

Aya was quiet for a while as she looked away, her eyes scrunched up to a thought. But then she returned back to him with a mischievous smile on her face that made Jaejoong gulped the saliva hard down his throat to a bad hunch where this is going.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Aya, are you sure about this?”

“Come on! It will be fun.”

“It is hard to do it with you moving around so much.”

“I can’t stay still while you do it. I am doing this as well. Just let it naturally be.”

“Easy for you to say. You are good at this.”

Aya giggled at Jaejoong’s nervous expression and he glared at her. He heaved a deep breath before moving forward.

Jaejoong reached his paintbrush to the canvas and started to draw the outline of Aya’s face. Aya had already done Jaejoong’s outline and was ready to add in the facial features along with the other details. She tilted her head beside her canvas to sneak a peek at Jaejoong and stifled her laughter as she stares at Jaejoong’s serious expression as he drew. His eyebrows were scrunched together and look like he was having a hard time.

Jaejoong sensed Aya looking at him so he looked up and glared at her, which caused her to return back to position and continued her painting.

After a couple of hours… mostly because of Jaejoong’s speed in completion… they were finally done and were ready to show each other their works. Jaejoong covered a cloth over his work, insisting to start from Aya’s first no matter how much Aya pouted. So at last Aya gave in and Jaejoong stood up from his seat and went to Aya’s side.

Jaejoong’s jaw practically dropped open when he saw the portrait Aya drew of him. It was such a look-alike that was hard to believe it was drawn and painted. All the details were perfect and flawless that the painting looks alive.

As Jaejoong was mesmerized by the painting, Aya crept to Jaejoong’s artwork and pulled the cloth away. Only when Aya’s laughter burst out that Jaejoong regained himself and rushed to cover the sight of his work with his body.

“Come… come on Kazuki… let me… s… see… it better.” Aya stuttered as she struggled to restrain her laughter. She was laughing so hard that her strength couldn't even move Jaejoong a budge away from sheltering the canvas.

“I told you it was a stupid idea to draw each other’s portrait.” Jaejoong frowned as he walked away with his back facing Aya now.

“Is that my hair? It looks like a broom… And my left eye look bigger than my right… And…” As Aya continued her comments, Jaejoong could only scrunched his eyes tightly in embarrassment.

With his eyes still shut, he was just about to sprint out of the room when Aya held onto his hand and pulled him back towards the painting.

“I was kidding. It isn’t that bad.”

“Isn’t THAT bad? You still have tears on the edge of your eyes right now.” Jaejoong pouted. He turned away again but Aya twirled him back and pushed him down by the shoulder so he sat facing his ‘masterpiece’ again.

“Let me help you do some touchups then.” Jaejoong just sat there as Aya, standing behind him, stretched her hand with the paintbrush on over his shoulder and started working her magic.

The painting was looking better after her much effort and Jaejoong can’t help secretly nodded in recognition of her talent.

“Okay. Done!” After finishing her last stroke, she flicked the paintbrush slightly and it accidently splashed paint onto Jaejoong’s face. Jaejoong moved a finger to touch the spot before bringing it to his eyes, looking at the red stain on his finger.

“It was accidental. I didn’t do that on purpose, you understand right?” Aya started to move backward slowly.

“Sure, I understand.” Jaejoong answered sarcastically. His hand was already wandered down to pick up a paintbrush.

“Uemura Kazuki! Don’t you dare!” Jaejoong flicked his paintbrush at Aya and yellow paint splashed on her face.

“That was accidental as well. But yellow do look good on you.” Jaejoong smirked.

“Oh really? I think pink will look nicely on you as well.” Aya sprint to get her paint palette and started flicking her paintbrush at Jaejoong. Suddenly a paint battle was started as Jaejoong and Aya chase each other around, splashing different colors at each other and dodging around. Laughter and screaming was heard from the room as Aya’s mother approached. Staring at the two having fun, she smiled before walking away.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaejoong and Aya stopped fooling around after awhile and were sitting beside each other with a cloth in each hand, wiping themselves clean from the mess.

“You have a green mustache there.” Aya giggled as she lifts her cloth to wipes the green stain above Jaejoong’s lips.

“You have a purple mole there yourself.” Jaejoong chuckled as he reached his cloth to her nose and wipes the stain away for her.

Jaejoong’s hand suddenly stopped when his eyes reached her lips – her soft and pouty lips that were tempting him to kiss them. Aya stopped too and looked anxiously at the way Jaejoong was staring at her.

“Kazuki…” Aya’s voice was almost inaudible. She knew where this was going but was reluctant to protest.

As Jaejoong’s face leaned closer to hers, Aya slowly closed her eyes, waiting for the moment. She could feel her heart beating faster the closer she felt his breath on her face.

Jaejoong’s lips were just inches away from hers when it suddenly snapped him what he was doing. He reeled himself back and cleared his throat; causing Aya to open her eyes and felt awkwardness plunged into the atmosphere.

“I need to use the bathroom.” Jaejoong dashed out of the room shortly after he said that.

“Okay… I guess I will just clean all these up… myself.” Aya muttered to herself. She uttered a soft sigh and pouted. Shaking the feeling away, she started gathering the stuff orderly before doing some clean up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaejoong started splashing water fiercely at his face and were panting heavily as he stared down at the sink, allowing the droplet of waters on his face to roll down his face and hit the surface of the sink.

His mind refreshed the fact that he was about to kiss Aya just now and he furiously hit his fist to the wall. He looked up at his reflection on the mirror and saw his usual cold expression. But then his eyebrows scrunched slightly and his hand naturally came up his chest – to the position his heart was at.

He shifted his sight to his chest and noticed his hand crumpled the shirt as his hand was clenched tightly into a fist. A tight feeling congesting his chest, making him feel uncomfortable… and he knew what kind of feeling it was.

“I must end this faster.” Jaejoong muttered to himself. He glared coldly at his own reflection on the mirror before leaving the bathroom.

Author's Note: So sorry for the late updates *bows low* I been quite busy with the requests from the request site I worked in. I feel like I am losing some of my readers. Is my story getting boring?

Anyway, this chapter is packed with AyaxJae moment. But what does Jaejoong mean by ending this faster? Don't worry, he won't barged into Aya's room and just kill her with his gun. He still have more to do in his mission.

Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Comments and criticism are more than welcomed!
