Of course, nothing less was expected from an event organized by Choi Siwon, the son of the most powerful and ‘influential’ person in Osaka. Even the amounts of people attending were surprisingly many despite it being held in the small town of Osaka.
All were obtained from just a short moment of observing. Jaejoong took one last glance around the place by the corner of his eyes before turning his attention to seeking Aya’s presence.
His eyes were drawn to her standing there staring intensely with that usual smile on her face at one of the paintings. She was wearing a simple black spaghetti strap evening dress that fits perfectly to her slender figure. The dress length was just reaching slightly below her knees and she wore black heels to match her outfit. Jaejoong glanced up to her face and noticed her hair was slightly styled with it looking wavy at the edges. The elegant diamond necklace and earrings she had on looks like they were a pair, probably a gift from Siwon.
Aya seems to sense Jaejoong’s eyes on her as she turned to look at him with a flash of her sweet smile. Jaejoong replied the smile before making his way to her side.
“This painting is brillant. The color balances are just right and the textures match the feeling the artist wants to express.”
“Erm… yeah… right” Jaejoong shoved his hands to the back to an anxious posture and uttered a fake cough to calm his nerves. When Aya chuckled at his reaction, he narrowed his eyes at her.
“You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” Jaejoong asked and Aya just shrugged innocently.
“Aya.”
Jaejoong and Aya whipped their heads to the back and their eyes landed on Siwon and Yeon Hee walking towards them.
Siwon looked stunning with the tux he had on and Yeon Hee matched up perfectly, looking as gorgeous as always with the long dark evening dress she had on. People had their eyes on the pair since they entered the place.
“Siwon. You look very handsome.” Aya complimented.
“Don’t I always?” Siwon’s words caused the two to chuckle. Aya then turned her attention to Yeon Hee, stepping forward to her as she held Yeon Hee’s hands into hers.
“I am glad you can make it Yeon Hee. You are so pretty.” Aya complimented.
“Thanks. You look lovely as well.” Yeon Hee replied.
“Aya, shall we go there?” Siwon laid his hand out to the direction of the crowd surrounding one of Aya’s masterpieces. Aya widen her eyes in shock of the sight and lowered her gaze as she shook her head in rejection.
“People love your works, Aya. The crowd gathering there proves it. You need to make an entrance to introduce yourself as the artist of such brilliance.”
“I will just embarrass myself. I am not good at handling crowds.” Aya refused, waving her hands in rejection.
“That’s why you have me to escort you. Now, shall we?” Siwon angled his arm to Aya in a gentleman manner. Not wanting to reject Siwon and after much hesitation, Aya finally nodded her head, taking a deep breath before she hooked her hand into Siwon’s arm and let him lead her off.
Jaejoong and Yeon Hee watched their partners vanished from their sight before the both took slow stroll around the place, observing all the valuable pieces of artworks on display.
“I never knew you were interested in art?” Yeon Hee spoke up after a while.
“Not to say I am but it is beginning to build in me. How about you?” Jaejoong spoke with his eyes never leaving the paintings as they walked.
“Me? They are all so outstanding. What’s there to not appreciate?”
“You know what I really mean.” Jaejoong said before he stopped his pace and turned his attention to Yeon Hee.
“How long have you and Siwon been an item?” Yeon Hee just avoided his gaze, looking the other direction at some of the other paintings.
“Or… is it all just an act? A friendly help?” Jaejoong smirked when his words caught her attention as she looked back at him.
“What do you need to know about this, Jaejoong? What else do you really know?” Yeon Hee looked up at him in suspicion.
“There will be a ‘show’ later. Don’t miss it.” After said that, Jaejoong just walked away with the smirk still on his face. Yeon Hee stared questioning at his back fading from her sight as she thought of his words.
‘Show? What does he mean?’ Yeon Hee wondered inside.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaejoong went back to search for Aya and saw her now chatting with some ladies, without Siwon near sight. Jaejoong took a quick glance around the place and when he spotted Siwon, the smirk came back to his face.
‘Show time’. Jaejoong thought to himself as he made his way to Aya’s side.
“Excuse me, ladies. I need to borrow Ms. Ueto for the moment.” Jaejoong interwined his hand with Aya’s hand and lead her away. Aya just stared puzzled at Jaejoong as her feet shuffled against the floor to keep up with Jaejoong’s pace.
“Where are we going?” She finally asked out.
“You will see.” Was all Jaejoong replied. He stopped at the center hall of the place and asked Aya to stay there while he went towards the stand above the stage. Picking up the microphone, he tapped it slightly to test if the sound will come out.
“May I have everyone’s attention here?” Jaejoong spoke politely through the mic. Everyone in the hall turned their attention to him and even the orchestra stopped playing to allow him have his moment.
“I hope everyone can turned their attention to the person in the middle because I have an important announcement to make.”
Instantly the spotlight shone down on Aya to accommodate Jaejoong. All eyes landed on Aya and she felt anxious at where this was going.
“The person before you all here is Aya Ueto, one of the artists of the many masterpieces displayed here today in the exhibition. She is a very pretty, kind and warm-hearted girl. That until almost 3 years without any news of her loved one she still continued waiting for his return. Never having the least faith in her heart of his love for her. That person is now back and realized as much as he had changed for the past years, she was still the same girl he left all those years ago. However, today before everyone here as eyewitness, he is about to make a change to her.”
Jaejoong placed the mic back on the stand before walking towards Aya. He stopped a distance away from her and took out the little red box from his pant pocket.
“Remember this?” He opened the box, revealing the ring and Aya’s hand naturally came upon her mouth as her eyes widen at it in surprise.
“That’s… It was… but that time…” Aya couldn’t make out her words right.
“I was supposed to do this 3 years ago, sorry it had delayed till now.”
Jaejoong took out the ring from the box and kneel down before her, taking hold of her hand.
“Aya. I was a bad person for making the decision that has kept you waiting for me all those years. And a terrible person for doing nothing but made you upset and let tears flow down your face since I got back. I was foolish to not realize an angel standing right before my eyes. The love of my life has long appeared before me but it took me only till now to seal in the sacred moment. Would you help me be a better person, Aya? To once and for all be MY aya and let me appreciate and love you for the rest of my life.”
He rubbed his thumb gently across Aya’s fingers before continuing.
“Will you marry me?” Jaejoong said with a face filled with sincerity as he stared up into Aya’s beautiful eyes.
“Ever since the day I met you the decision has never changed in my heart… Yes Kazuki. Absolutely.”
Jaejoong smiled as he slid the ring onto her ring finger. He stood back up straight and Aya promptly wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him tightly. Jaejoong too wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her close to him. Everyone clapped and cheered in joy seeing the couple in front of them finally about to seal in their marriage vows.
Observing the moment by a corner practically hidden by the crowd, Siwon tried to keep a smile to his face but find it quite impossible as the burning in his heart was unbearable. He clenched his hand tightly to a fist on the spot of his heart, finding breathing difficult as the feeling congested in his chest allow no air to be drag in.
Using every ounce of strength still left in him, Siwon braced his free hand on the wall to support him as he left the place. Meanwhile, Yeon Hee was nearby watching Siwon in concern. She knew she shouldn’t go right up to him now so she just secretly followed him away to make sure he was fine. She took one last glance at Jaejoong over her shoulder before leaving; knowing that things weren’t as simple as what Jaejoong first told her. She will need to do more digging and confront Jaejoong again to set things clear.
Jaejoong had been watching Siwon from the corner of his eyes the whole time. Seeing Siwon’s reaction affirmed him of the success of his plan, letting a victorious smirk crept up his face.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Another!”
The waiter looked reluctant to take up the order seeing the state Siwon was at now. His clothes looked wrinkled and messed up with a few buttons above let loss while his face flushed red from the amount of alcohol he drank. His hair was also a mess from constantly running his hand though it.
“Didn’t you hear me? I say ANOTHER!” Siwon yelled at the waiter. The waiter quickly scurried off to prepare his order.
“Siwon.”
Siwon titled his head towards the voice and squinted his eyes through his blurry vision to see who it was.
“Aya?”
“Siwon, you had enough. Let’s go.” His vision slowly revealed Yeon Hee looking worried at him. She tried to take the glass away from him but he jerked her hand away.
The waiter came back with another glass placed in front of Siwon. As Siwon reached his hand lazily to it, Yeon Hee quickly snatched it away.
“Give it to me, Yeon Hee.” Siwon turned weakly towards Yeon Hee, slowly reaching out to the glass but Yeon Hee avoided him with just a step backward.
“No.” Yeon Hee spoke sternly.
“I say GIVE IT TO ME!” Siwon yelled furiously. That instance Yeon Hee flung the glass towards Siwon, letting the drink splashed all over him.
“Are you awake yet?!” Yeon Hee yelled at him. Siwon lifted his hand up to wipe his face and licked the drops dripping down his finger. Seeing Siwon like this really hurt Yeon Hee badly. She never expected how deeply it would affect Siwon. She never seen him so… so… drenched.
“Come on. Let’s get out of here. Now!” Yeon Hee threw one of his arms around her shoulder and braced a hand around his waist, pressing his weight against her as she lifted him up with much force. Her feet shuffled heavily against the ground as she struggled to get him away from the place.
“Hey gorgeous.”
A bunch of men stood surrounding them, not letting them leave.
“Leave the drunk guy alone and come have some fun with me.” The guy standing forward said with a sly grin.
Yeon Hee just glared at him and shifted to the other direction, only to have more men blocking their way.
“I appreciate the offer. But I don’t have time for this.” Yeon Hee still kept her tone polite, trying to not cause any trouble.
“Well you just have to make time then.” The guy reached his hand to her face and caressed her jawline.
Out of a sudden, Siwon pushed the guy’s hand away from Yeon Hee.
“Don’t touch her with your filthy hand.” Siwon’s eyes were half closed but he struggled to keep conscious with a shake of his head.
“What are you going to do about it?” Just a light push from the guy and Siwon fell to the ground.
“Siwon!” Yeon Hee wanted to march forward to him but the guy held onto her shoulder.
“You are pathetic. Don’t try to play hero you can’t even stand up straight.” The guy mocked. All his men at the back joined in the mock as they laughed out loud.
“Remove your hand from my shoulder.” Yeon Hee said warningly.
“Ooo… feisty. What are you gonna do if I don’t?” The guy challenged.
Yeon Hee gripped the guy’s wrist and twisted it, causing the guy to winced in pain. Then she flipped him over her shoulder in one force till he fell hard on the ground.
“Urgh. Damn you! You will pay for that. Grab her!”
Under the command of their leader, the men pounced forward to attack Yeon Hee. In a few swift moves, Yeon Hee kicked and punched the men away from her till they groaned in pain on the ground. She glared deathly at the remaining men and they hesitated on their spots.
“Who’s next?” She asked. No one dared to move forward and just scurried off as quick as they can. Two of them went forward to their leader, helping him up before bowing apologetically at Yeon Hee and dashed off.
After eyeing them leaving the place, Yeon Hee rushed to Siwon’s side and held him up again, continue leading him away from the place.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeon Hee pushed the door roughly open as they arrived at her place. She pushed Siwon up a little to brace his weight better on her as she led him to her bedroom.
Pushing the door open with her back, she struggled the remaining steps reaching her bed before dropping him down, letting him lie sprawled on the bed.
She panted as she removed his shoes and lifted his legs up to the bed. Then she brought a basin of luke warm water and towel in from her trip to the kitchen. She soaked the towel into the water before lifting it up and squeezed out the excess. She first took his hand one at a time and gingerly wipes them clean. Then she moved up to wipe his face from the sticky alcohol stain earlier.
“Aya.” Siwon mumbled.
Yeon Hee halted for a while and stared at him before continuing what she was doing.
“Even in this condition you are still thinking about her. She is so lucky.” Yeon Hee muttered. She placed the towel back to the basin and started removing his coat and unbuttoning his shirt. She picked up the towel once again and started wiping the stickiness all over his body. After she was done, she took his clothes to wash before returning back to the room with another towel folded to rectangle form and placed it gently on his forehead.
Yeon Hee took a chair, placing it beside the bed as she sat there and stared at Siwon. He looked much more peaceful than the state he was in earlier. Yeon Hee noticed Siwon scrunched his eyes tightly so she leaned forward to him.
“What’s wrong, Siwon? Are you feeling uncomfortable anywhere?” She asked. Yeon Hee was startled when Siwon suddenly gripped her hand. She carefully removed his grip on her hand and placed it on his side.
“Just take your rest. You had a rough day.” She whispered to him and unexpectedly, he relaxed and slept soundly. Yeon Hee just stayed by his side the whole night, staring at his peaceful sleeping face.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Siwon woke up with the sunlight filtered from the window beamed down directly on his face. He lifted his hand to shield his face from the blinding light and his eyes squinted to his surrounding.
‘Where am I?’ Siwon wondered. He felt a pressure on his stomach as he was about to sit up. Looking down, he saw it was a hand. Tracing it backward, he saw Yeon Hee asleep with her head rested on the side of the bed, her other hand folded acted as a pillow for her head.
Feeling the movement beneath her hand, Yeon Hee slowly opened her eyes and lifted her head up.
“Good morning, Siwon.” She greeted him with a smile.
“Good morning.” He replied. Feeling the bareness on his chest, Siwon looked down and noticed he only had his pants on. His shirt was gone.
“I took your clothes to wash. It should be dry by now under the sun.” Yeon Hee explained. Siwon nodded in understanding and Yeon Hee gave him a soft smile as she went to gather his clothes. Siwon slapped a hand to his forehead, disbelieving himself for having doubt that Yeon Hee would do anything improper.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Do you remember much about yesterday?” Yeon Hee asked as Siwon was buttoning up his shirt.
“Not much. Only…” Siwon hung his words as he looked at Yeon Hee awkwardly.
“Only the scene of you fighting off that group of guys so easily.” Siwon continued as he lowered his gaze back to buttoning the last button of his shirt. Silence conquered the moment before Yeon Hee spoke up with her revelation.
“My dad was a killer. Since young, he had trained me with combat skills for self-protection.”
"Killer?" Siwon muttered.
Yeon Hee turned to meet Siwon’s eyes.
“Just like how you are the son of a powerful black trial boss, I have my fair share of the dark world being the daughter of a killer. I lost my mother too from all the vengeances of the dark society. She tried to protect me when my father’s enemies came seeking for him one night. That was her price to pay for being a killer’s wife and even till her last breath she never regretted it. However, I never forgive my father for it. He chose to withhold his pride and passion of being a killer than to settle down to an ordinary family. So why does my mother have to sacrifice for his purpose?”
Yeon Hee could feel the tears gathering in her eyes again so she looked up to not let the tears flow down.
“I never told anyone about this cause I know how it is like to despise the identity we hold and to want recognition based on who we really are and not from our past.”
“So how’s your father now? You still not willing to see him?” Siwon asked.
“He is dead.” Yeon Hee lowered her gaze again as she answered.
“What?”
“I ran away from home that time. As much as my father tried to do to compensate for what that had happened, nothing he does can return my mother to me. I hated him for that… But only when he passed away I realize something important… I kept holding into the past that I didn’t appreciate what I had presently. I may have lost my mother, but I still had my father. He was willing to retire, to live a new life with me, but I rejected him. So eventually I lost my only family left in this world.”
Siwon never knew Yeon Hee was so similar to him. All these while she was so perfect in everything, he never knew the pain she went through in the past – the past that was hidden from everyone’s eyes. The life of associating with the dark society, nothing pleasant could come out of it.
“I really don’t want to see you follow in my steps, Siwon. Uncle Choi loves you very much. Sure some of the things he does now is… unlawful, but you are given the chance to change it. It is never too late. You are a MBA scholar, Siwon. You know what is needed to set things right from wrong. All it takes is the efforts from you, and Choi Enterprise could be one of the best companies in Japan. I have faith in you.”
Siwon smiled gratefully at Yeon Hee for her words. He lowered his gaze to his hands held together on his lap.
“I have the chance to set things right.” Siwon repeated the words as he thought deeply on it.
“Everyone deserves a second chance Siwon. Life may not have a reset but it doesn’t mean it will be too late to start over anew.”
“Do you think I deserve a second chance with you then?” Siwon said as he turned to look at her.
“W-what?” Yeon Hee stuttered.
“All these while you have been doing so much for me. I never had the chance to properly see whether I deserve you.”
“You don’t have to force yourself, Siwon. I never expect anything from helping you. Don’t think of it as the need to repay me.” When Yeon Hee just lowered her gaze, Siwon took her hand into his and she looked back up to meet his eyes.
“Then think of it as another help to me; a help in guiding me how to appreciate you well; to let me care for you rightfully and to learn how to love you as much as you love me. What do you say, Yeon Hee?”
Yeon Hee smiled and nodded. Siwon smiled as well as he wrapped his arms around her, hugging her in his embrace.

Hope you enjoyed the story till now. It seems so fast already reaching chapter 16, yet things are still just hanging there. :P Comments and criticism are more than welcomed! Remember... the more comments I see, the more encouraging I am to update fast. XD No pressure. XP
