“Hyung! I wanna play!”
Mrs. Kim smiled as she looked towards her pair of identical boys flying kite at the not too far end of the field. The younger sibling was stretching his hand all over his older brother, trying to grab control of the line while the older sibling has one hand pushing at the younger sibling’s chest and stretched his hand further away to not let his younger brother get to it.
“Jaejoong! Why don’t you come here and grab a bite while I stand guard of Jaejun?” Mrs. Kim shouted. Jaejoong gave a hard nod and placed the control of the line to Jaejun before dashing to his mother’s side. When he reached his mother’s side, his mother bent her upper body forward with her palm extended out to Jaejoong. Jaejoong gave it a light slap as ‘tag’ and they both exchanged smiles with his mother lying a gentle pat on his head before heading to Jaejun’s side.
Jaejoong sat himself down on beside his father before grabbing the sandwich in front of it and started gobbling it down like a hungry wolf.
“Wow! Slow down there, son. You gonna choke.” Mr. Kim chuckled as he ruffled his son’s hair.
Jaejoong roughly swallowed the food down before facing his father with a bright smile.
“Umma’s sandwich is so delicious! I just love eating them!” Jaejoong exclaimed before grabbing another piece again. Mr. Kim handed Jaejoong a glass of orange juice just in time when Jaejoong was looking like he was choking on the food. Father’s instinct perhaps that he saw that coming.
“Told you to be careful.” Mr. Kim cautioned. Jaejoong just gave his father his usual smile.
Mr. Kim put his hand on his neck and took off the necklace he had on, handing it to Jaejoong.
“This is for you, Jaejoong.”
Jaejoong took the black strap necklace from his father and glanced at it.
“A whistle?” He asked as he stared puzzled at his father.
Mr. Kim moved closer to Jaejoong and hung an arm around Jaejoong’s shoulder.
“Yes. No matter where you may go, as long as you need me, just give this a blow. When you blow this whistle, I will come to you… no matter how far we are apart.” Mr. Kim explained before retreating back to his original spot. Just a brief moment later Mr. Kim heard the whistle blew and darted his head towards Jaejoong.
“It really does work.” Jaejoong said and smiled gleefully.
“You dare to play a fool of your Appa?” Mr. Kim pounced on Jaejoong and started tackling Jaejoong with tickles around his waist, causing Jaejoong to fall flat on his back as giggles rang around the air.
“The kite!”
Mr. Kim and Jaejoong threw their gaze to Jaejun and Mrs. Kim’s side when they heard Jaejun’s whine. Looking up to the sky, they saw the kite flew higher and higher up, making it impossible for them to do anything to help even if they rushed there.
Mr. Kim caught the sight of dark cloud gathering in the sky and heard the soft rumble of thunder, signifying the approach of rain.
“Let’s pack up now. It’s gonna rain soon.” Jaejoong nodded as his father was already packing most of the stuff up.
“Umma! Jaejun! We are going back now.” Jaejoong could hear his little brother’s soft whine as their mother dragged Jaejun towards Jaejoong’s side, just in time that Mr. Kim had done packing up and the family hurried to where their car was at.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Appa, will we be able to go to an outing like this again?” Jaejun asked cutely from the backseat.
“Sure, Jaejun. Appa promised as long as I get another day off. We will go to another outing like this.”
Mr. Kim chuckled as the two boys cheered in joy – little Jaejun clapping his hands happily in his mother’s embrace while little Jaejoong bounced excitedly on his seat at front.
“Now Jaejoong. Stop bouncing around like that. It’s dangerous.” Mrs. Kim cautioned.
“Listen to your Umma, Jaejoong.” Mr. Kim tilted his head slightly to Jaejoong and laid a hand on Jaejoong’s back, calming the boy’s hype.
“Okay, Appa~” Jaejoong sang and sat properly on his seat. His face formed a cute frown when he struggled to lock the seatbelt to the buckle.
“Appa~” Jaejoong whined, looking up at his father with his frown.
“Don’t bother your Appa, Jaejoong. He is driving.” Mr. Kim waved his hand in front of his wife that it was okay and stretched one hand from the steering wheel to Jaejoong’s side, helping him with the seatbelt. Having struggle with it as well, Mr. Kim tilted his head slightly to better locate where the buckle was and finally got the seatbelt set.
“Chagiya!” His wife’s scream made Mr. Kim shot up his sight to the front and saw a car about to hit theirs. Mr. Kim quickly turned the steering wheel, avoiding the crash but there was no time to be relieve as the car ended up driving through the unexpected empty gap between the side metal fences and plunged downhill. The car flipped and rotated 360 degrees before it crashed landed against a tree.
Jaejoong slowly opened his eyes and his senses slowly awake hearing the crying of his younger brother. He tried to move but couldn’t budge. He then remember his still had his seatbelts on and stretched his hands down to try to unbuckle it but felt weak and powerless that his actions were useless.
He stopped struggling when his saw a pair of hands approaching where his seatbelt was and helped him unbuckle them. Jaejoong felt like crying himself that moment. Those familiar muscular arms… they were his father’s… and what made Jaejoong felt so hurtful was that those arms were stained by blood.
Just as Jaejoong’s face twitched and was about to cry, he felt a pat on his head with that familiar warmth that ease his urge to cry slightly. Jaejoong looked up and was met with his father’s gaze.
“It’s… it’s okay… Jaejoong… Everything is going… to be okay…” Mr. Kim assured with a smile. Jaejoong could see his father was panting, struggling to breathe through the pain he was suffering yet he did his best to held it all in, to not let his son feel frighten.
“Umma… Umma…”
Mr. Kim looked towards his wife and saw his younger son under his wife’s embrace. The little boy was shaking his mother with all the strength left in him, begging for a respond as tears already smeared all over his little face. Mr. Kim looked further down his wife’s body and his heart caught. A sharp metal piece of the vehicle was pierced through her waist, staining the fine dress she had on with blood of the horrid red color.
“Umma… wake up… Umma wake up…” Jaejun’s sob snapped Mr. Kim from his state. He knew he couldn’t break down, not at this crucial moment and not in front of his sons. Mr. Kim forced himself to move closer to Jaejun, despite the heavy mess crashing down on his lower body.
“Sshhh… It’s all right, Jaejun. Look at me, son. Look at me.”
Jaejun continued his sobs but shifted his face to look at his father. Mr. Kim pushed forward enough to put his hand on Jaejun’s cheek, caressing it gently.
“It’s all right, Jaejun. Your Umma is just… sleeping… Let’s not disturb her, okay?”
A lie… But it had to be told… For the sake of his son.
Jaejun nodded but never stopped crying. Mr. Kim knew… All of them were in pain… Even when little Jaejun had his mother shelter him with her whole body, he was also feeling pain. Not much of physically, but mentally through the pain of the situation.
Mr. Kim struggled with the strength left in him and took up his phone, dialing in the numbers to call for help. After ending his call, he looked back to his two sons, who couldn’t stop crying since before and he knew it was common but it hurts him more than the pain from his wounds.
His eyes began to feel heavy. He slowly shut his eyes but flashed them open again when he felt a tug on his arm. Jaejoong was looking straight into his eyes with a pleading look. Mr. Kim patted his son’s hand gently before showing a weak yet assuring smile.
“It’s okay, Jaejoong… Appa… Appa just feeling sleepy. I will just… take a short nap…”
Mr. Kim’s eyes were already half shut but he could see Jaejoong shaking his head. He gave a few more pats to Jaejoong’s hand to reassure him. The sound of siren approaching closer was heard before his eyes were shut completely.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jaejoong slowly lifted his eyes open when his sleep was disturbed by the buzzing that were going on. He let his eyes wandered around the surrounding, realizing he was in a somewhat gloomy feel kind of room. Looking down to his hand, he saw a tube stuck into the middle of his arm. Touching the plain gown he had on, he realized he was in a hospital.
‘So what happened wasn’t a dream?’ He thought to himself.
Just then, the door swung open gently and in came that identical face – his twin brother, Jaejun.
“Hyung.” Little Jaejun whimpered. Jaejoong could tell he was resisting the urge to cry. So much had happened in just a split moment. It was natural for his protected younger brother to be frighten from all these.
Jaejoong shifted himself to the side a little, creating a space on the bed as he patted on the spot. Jaejun understood and went up to Jaejoong, climbing up the bed and joined Jaejoong.
Both the boys shifted their gaze to the door now opened wider, waiting patiently for someone to come attend to them but all the nurses and doctor walking about were too busy with their duties. Both brothers had their hand clenched together; eyes filled with hopes fixed on the doorway. Maybe they were waiting not just anyone… they were waiting for a particular pair – none other than their parents.
“Hyung, where could Umma and Appa be? Should I go look for them?” Little Jaejun offered. He knew his older brother was in no state to follow him on his search, being stuck with tubes over his body. Jaejoong patted his brother’s shoulder and shook his head.
“You might get lost out there. Maybe you can get the attention of one of the-” Jaejoong broke off when he recalled something. He stretched his hand underneath his clothes and pulled out the thin black strap with the whistle attached to it.
Without putting much thought on it, Jaejoong started blowing on the whistle. Once… twice… a moment gap between the blows but harder each time when he did not see the familiar figures at the doorway. When he did the third blow, Jaejoong and Jaejun’s faces almost lit up when they saw a figure rushing to the ward. But their face naturally dimmed down again when they saw it was just a nurse.
“What’s with the noise? This is a hospital. You gonna disturb the other patients.”
The nurse stopped her ragging when she saw the two boys cuddled together and looking at her with their frightened eyes.
“I just wanted to help Appa find us. Appa say when I blow this whistle, he will be able to come to me.” Jaejoong explained.
“Oh you poor boys. Nobody… nobody told you yet, have they?”
The two boys exchanged glances before shaking their heads, not understanding what the nurse meant. She guess nobody bear to break the news to the boys. How the two fragile souls were suddenly homeless.
The nurse sat herself on the edge of the bed and gave the boys a warm but mild smile, trying to her best to break the news to them gently.
“Your Appa, or even Umma, won’t be able to come find you anymore.”
“Why?” Jaejun questioned. Why… that was a tough question to expect but nonetheless it was unavoidable.
“Well… You know in everyone’s life there will be a certain moment in time where we will enter into a deep slumber?”
“Like hibernating?” Jaejoong asked this time. The nurse scratched the bottom of her chin before answering.
“Not exactly… It is a peaceful slumber and when it comes… you can’t avoid it.” The nurse tried to explained.
“Why didn’t Appa and Umma tell us? Will we be able see them again?”
“Well, it sometimes come unexpected…” The nurse could see the tears slowly gathering in the two boys eyes and couldn’t bear to continue any longer.
“But let me tell you a way you can see them again.” The two boys’ eyes instantly lit up and they leaned forward.
“There is a secret passage to see them. Very secret so you have to keep it to yourself and not let anyone know.” The nurse whispered to the boys as she pushed the boys back to lie on the bed. The two boys nodded enthusiastically and listened attentively to the nurse.
“You have to sleep before the clock strikes twelve. Picture your parents’ images in your mind and you will meet them in dreamland. But you have to be very sincere and you must be a good boy or the dream guardian will not let them enter dreamland to meet you.”
“No! Jaejoong and Jaejun are very good boys!” Jaejoong defended and Jaejun nodded as well.
The nurse placed her hands each on the boys’ cheeks and lightly caressed them.
“I know you two are. Now you better get to sleep now. It’s 10 minutes to twelve. Your Appa and Umma are waiting for you two.” The nurse said, pointing to the clock on the wall.
The two boys nodded and laid their head firmly on the one huge pillow on the bed. Shutting their eyes as they forced themselves to sleep. The nurse tucked the blanket higher over their shoulder before stroking their hairs lightly.
“Goodnight.”
“Goodnight, nuna.” The boys murmured in unison. The nurse switched off the light on the table lamp beside before quietly exit the ward. Just as she was about to shut the door, another nurse came to her side and cautioned her.
“What is Kim Jaejun doing here in Kim Jaejoong’s ward instead of his own? Unnie, we got to bring him back to his own ward. What if-”
The nurse shushed her fellow colleague before taking one last glance at the twins in the room and closed the door completely.
“It’s okay. Whatever happens it is my responsibility. The boys had just been through a rough time. They only have each other now. The least we could do is let them sleep soundly in each other’s company… for the night.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Even when Jaejun could be discharged from the hospital much earlier, he persisted in staying in the hospital till the moment Jaejoong was discharged as well.
The twin stared out of the window of the black vehicle they were in, wondering where could their aunt be taking them to just after they were discharged.
“Hyung. It’s raining.” Jaejun pressed his finger on the spot of the raindrop on the window. Jaejoong looked up at the sky and saw the rain pouring down heavier by the minutes and the sky was grey and gloomy.
They arrived in front of an old building and the twin had their aunt held the umbrella for them by the door of the vehicle while they leaped down to the ground, causing the splashing of water to spilled on their aunt’s fine shoes and she wrinkled her nose. When the twin looked up at her, she just gave them a smile and handed them the umbrella, opening up another for her own.
“You two stay here, okay? I just need to go over there to settle your arrangements.”
“Arrangements?” Jaejoong questioned but their aunt didn’t answer. She just patted their heads lightly and went into the old building, leaving the two boys out waiting in the cold rain.
Not long after, she came out and Jaejoong saw her pleading an old lady as she gripped the old lady’s arm and shaking it. Jaejoong nudged his brother and both of them went closer to see what was going on.
“Please… They don’t have anyone left. I really hope you can take them in.” His aunt pleaded but the old lady just remained with that cold look.
“Mrs. Kang. You are married right? Do you have any children?” The old lady asked.
“Well I don’t for the moment. But I-”
“Then you could very well take the boys. You are their aunt right? How can they have nobody then?” The old lady insisted and turned to enter the orphanage again, only to have the twin’s aunt block the entrance with her body.
“Mrs. Kang.” The old lady raised her voice sternly.
“Aren’t orphanages supposed to take in any homeless children? So they would be left stranded with no one to care for? How could you be picky on the children to accept?” The aunt argued angrily.
“Mrs. Kang. Orphanages aren’t a place for people to just abandon their children. They are supposed to be taken as a last resort. We usually encourages the children to be with their relatives, even distant one because at least they ARE still family.” The old lady insisted on her stand.
“I can’t take care of them. I will be too busy with my career and eventually neglect them. I am just trying to find the best resort for them. To help them find the perfect family that can really care for them.” The aunt continued debating. Jaejun tugged Jaejoong by the arm so Jaejoong would divert his attention to him.
“Hyung, will we be staying here from now on?” He asked. Jaejoong only shrugged.
The old lady just shook her head in disappointment at the pleading face of the twin’s aunt. She looked towards the twin and did a hand gesture for the twin to approach her. Both Jaejoong and Jaejun were reluctant to move but they still approached cautiously to the old lady’s side. Their aunt squatted down before the two and rubbed their shoulders gently.
“You two will be staying here from now on. You will have many friends to play with you everyday. Isn’t that great?” Their aunt tried to sound optimistic. The twin looked up at the old lady once before returning back to their aunt. Looking at the yearning in her eyes, they eventually nodded and the old lady let out a sigh.
“Come with me boys.” The old lady extended her hand out to the two. The twin looked at their aunt and saw her gave a nod, making the two returned back to the old lady and held onto her hand, letting her lead them off.
Jaejoong and Jaejun glanced back over their shoulder one last time at their aunt and saw her waving to them goodbye before the large door of the orphanage shut before their sight.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the past days staying in the orphanage, the twin never got along with the other children in the orphanage. They always isolated themselves in a corner and they never left each other’s sight; their hands tightly clenched to each other.
One night, after they were tucked asleep in their double-decker bed, Jaejun bent down to look at his hyung on the lower level and couldn’t resist a whimper escaped his mouth. Jaejoong instantly lifted his eyes open and stared up at his brother.
“What’s wrong, Jaejun?” He asked.
“This is an orphanage, isn’t it? A place where children are put and are never to see their parents ever again? Does that mean we will never see Appa and Umma ever again?”
When Jaejun started sobbing, Jaejoong got up and climbed up to Jaejun’s side of the bed.
“No. Remember the nurse nuna say we could still see Umma and Appa in dreamland? They never really left us.” Jaejoong try comforting his crying brother.
“I miss Umma’s cooking! I want Appa to sing me to sleep! I want to cuddle in Umma’s warm embrace! I… I… I JUST WANT UMMA AND APPA NOW!!” Jaejun’s cry got louder and louder. Seeing his brother like this made the tears stream down Jaejoong’s face as well and he started sobbing as well. Jaejoong bit on his lower lips to hold in the urge and took out the whistle attached to the thin black strap around his neck. He gave the whistle a loud and strong blow, letting the sound lingered around the air and Jaejun suddenly stopped crying as well.
“We are big boys, Jaejun. Appa say big boys won’t cry so easily.” Jaejoong spoke sternly.
“But… but…” Jaejun stuttered.
“Jaejoong still have Jaejun and Jaejun still have Jaejoong right?”
Jaejoong took off the black strap necklace around his neck and wore it around Jaejun’s neck.
“I am giving you this whistle now. When you blow this whistle, I will come to you… no matter how far we are apart. Hyung promise he will always be in close distance with Jaejun.”
“Promise? You won’t suddenly go missing like Appa and left me?” Jaejun asked with his pout. Jaejoong nodded and Jaejun’s face instantly brightens up.
“Okay. Let’s go to sleep now. We still have to go meet Appa and Umma.” Just as Jaejoong was about to climbed back down to his bed, Jaejun gripped on his arm, not letting him go.
“Hyung, can we sleep together? Then we won’t get lost when we go meet Appa and Umma later.” Jaejoong nodded. Jaejun lifted his blanket up so Jaejoong could crawl underneath. Once they are set, Jaejoong adjust the blanket neatly over them as they cuddled together, drifting off to sleep.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There seems to be a grand event happening in the orphanage the next day. Jaejun swung his little feet as he sat with Jaejoong by the steps of the entrance, watching the many adults at the scene talking with the orphanage staffs and also to some of the children. Jaejun then lifted his gaze up to the banner hung above and read the words one by one.
“Adoption…Day… What is adoption day, hyung?” Jaejoong just shrugged.
Out of a sudden, Jaejoong heard a soft rumble and darted his eyes at Jaejun, only to see his brother lowering his face to a pout and rubbing his tummy.
“Hyung, I am hungry.” Jaejun whined.
Jaejoong tapped a finger on his chin as he thought of it for a moment then his face lit up. He remembered keeping some cookies one of the orphanage gave him earlier that day.
“Stay here, Jaejun. Hyung will be right back. Don’t go anywhere.” Jaejun nodded and Jaejoong sprint inside to their room. Once Jaejoong vanished from his sight, Jaejun frowned with his head lowered as he continued swinging his little feet.
“Hey there. Little boy.” A lady came to Jaejun’s side and bent her upper body forward to him, showing him a sweet smile.
“What’s your name?” She asked. But Jaejun didn’t answer, his eyes were fixed to the lollipop she held on her hand. Catching what Jaejun was looking at, the lady giggled before lifting the lollipop to his face.
“Here you go.” She offered but Jaejun just looked at her shyly.
“It’s okay. You can have it.” With that said, Jaejun’s face lit up in delight. He took the lollipop and roughly tore the wrapper away before placing the lollipop in his mouth. His face shown satisfaction when the sweet taste of the lollipop melted all over inside his mouth.
The lady smiled even wider that her eyes squinted. She straighten up and looked over at her husband reaching beside her, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“Dear, do you think we can adopt this boy? He is so adorable.” She spoke in Japanese to Japanese husband. The man nodded and stretched his hand out to ruffle Jaejun’s hair. Innocent Jaejun, unaware of the situation at hand, just smiled back to the couple and continued enjoying his lollipop.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“I got the cookies, Jaejun!” Jaejoong announced out happily when he came back but his smile faded off when he doesn’t see his brother where he was supposed to be.
“Jaejun? Jaejun! Jaejun, where are you?” Jaejoong asked, starting to feel panic.
He wandered his eyes around and finally caught sight of his brother through the window of car. A lady was cradling Jaejun as he slept soundly in her arms.
“Jaejun!” Jaejoong shouted and dashed towards the car. He picked up speed when he noticed the car was slowly moving and was leaving the orphanage.
“Jaejun! Jaejun! JAEJUN!!!” Jaejoong shouted louder and louder, hoping his brother would awake and hear his screams.
As fast as his little legs could take him, he was still no match for the speed of a car and could only stay there in the middle of the road panting as he stared at the car leaving further and further away from his sight.
“Jaejun… No! Jaejun, no! Jaejun, come back! Jaejun! BRING MY BROTHER BACK!” Jaejoong shouted with all his might.
“What are you doing in the middle of the road? It’s dangerous.” One of the orphanage’s staffs went up to Jaejoong and started dragging Jaejoong away from the road. He was like a lifeless mannequin when the lady dragged him back to the orphanage and sat him down at the entrance of the steps; his gaze never leaving the road. She asked if he was fine alone but he didn’t reply and just stare front, making her shook her head before walking off to her duties again.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“He will come back… Jaejun will come back… He will realize any moment now and come back… Jaejun…” Jaejoong kept mumbling to himself as his gaze fixed on the road, ignorant of the people walking about in front of him.
Suddenly a little girl’s squeal was heard. He took a brief glance at her and saw that she was just freaking out from a raindrop falling on her head. At that moment, a drop of rain touched his hand as well and he glanced at it before looking up to the sky, seeing the rain slowly pouring down on his face.
“Everyone! Get inside! It is beginning to rain.” An orphanage staff announced and waved her hand to a gesture to hurried everyone inside the orphanage. When everyone was inside, she helped the other staff hand towels to everyone and helped wipe some of the children dry.
“Ms. Sung! Ms. Sung!” A boy kept shouting as he jumped up and down in front of a window, finger pointing outside.
“What is it?” She went over to the boy’s side and looked where he was pointing.
“There’s a boy out there in rain.”
The lady widened her eyes and rushed to the doorway, staring out at Jaejoong.
“What are you doing in the middle of the rain? Get in now! Hurry!” She yelled at him.
“He will come back… He will realize any moment now and come back…” Jaejoong continued mumbling.
She didn’t care anymore. The lady dashed out into the rain and carried him back in. One of her colleague quickly passed her a towel for her to dry him off.
“You are all soaked. Come on! Let’s get you changed before you catch a cold.” She dragged Jaejoong to get a change of clothes but Jaejoong still kept his gaze at the same direction.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rain finally stopped after a few hours. Ms. Sung stared down worriedly at Jaejoong breathing heavily on the bed. She stroked his hair lightly and touched his cheeks, feeling how his body was burning up through her touches. Being soaked in the rain like that, Jaejoong caught a high fever of over 105 degrees. Yet he was still mumbling the same words over and over again.
“Who will come back? Who are you expecting?” She muttered. It was like Jaejoong could hear her. At that moment he mumbled the answer.
“Jaejun…”
Ms. Sung’s heart caught. Her hands naturally lifted to cover her mouth as she stared shocked at him.
“Jaejun?” She gasped. Was that the name of the boy she just…
She caressed his hair gently and felt her heart ached seeing him. Come to think of it, this boy looks exactly like the boy just now. So they were siblings… moreover… twin?
“You are still burning up. I will go get a damped towel.” She muttered before standing up and walked out of the room.
Short moments later when she returned, the basin on her hand dropped to the floor when she saw that the bed was empty. She began to panic as she searched around the place for Jaejoong, only to found him once again standing on the side of the road staring out.
“What are you doing out here again? You are very sick! You have to rest!” She yelled angrily at him. She tried to drag him back in but this time Jaejoong won’t budge, persisting in place.
“He… He will… come back.” He panted heavily, using all the strength left in him to stay put on the spot.
“He… He…” Jaejoong was totally drained out and fainted at the end out of exhaustion, dropping on Ms. Sung’s arms.
“Jaejoong… Jaejoong… Jaejoong…” The voice slowly faded, becoming softer and softer till there was no more.
[+End Flashback+]
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Kazuki… Kazuki…”
Jaejoong fluttered his eyes open and stared blankly at the ceiling above, hearing that soft whisper in his ears. Aya let out a sigh in relief before she spoke.
“Kazuki, are you feeling better now?”
Jaejoong slowly turned his head to look at her. Noticing her hand laid gently on his arm, he flinched and sat up, moving slightly away from her. Surprised by his sudden action, Aya could only look at him in confusion.
“Y-yes, I am feeling better now.” Jaejoong answered with his face averted. He crooked one leg up and leaned it against his chest with one arm wrapped around it.
“Okay, do you want anything to eat then?” Aya reached her hand out to him again, only to have him flinched from it once more, like he was… frightened of her. Jaejoong gave a brief glance at Aya over his shoulder before averting his face again.
“I… I think I will go take a shower first.” Even with his back facing her, he could sense Aya was feeling sad from his reactions. He tilted his head to her and flashed her a light smile.
“ I would like some onigiri after that.” He said gently. Aya’s face brighten back up upon his words. She nodded with that smile that caused her eyes to squinted and left the room the next second.
After Aya was gone, Jaejoong uttered a heavy sigh and placed his hand on his chest where his heart was. His eyes widened a little in surprise when realization shot him. His heart… he was feeling his heart surprisingly beating faster than usual. Something inside of him had definitely… changed… or maybe it had just awakened.
Jaejoong leaped off his bed and headed to the table. He flipped open his laptop and open the videoconferencing, waiting for the usual person to come online. When the person appeared on the screen, he stared dumbfounded at Jaejoong. Yes… he could sense it too. Behind that emotionless face Jaejoong plastered on, Changmin could sense something different in Jaejoong.
“Changmin, use whatever methods and sources necessary. Get me Uemura Kazuki’s current whereabouts.”

Author's Note: There you go. Jaejoong's complete hidden past revealed. Did this chapter make you cry? :P I think this chapter is my longest so far. For those that don't know, Onigiri is the triangle shaped seaweed wrapped rice.
Things are getting more and more suspense now. Well, it is closing to the end soon. I think it is extended some more again. But I still expect it to be below 30 chapters.
I made a story blog: http://phebs-paintingfantasy.blogspot.com/ Do check it out if you have the time. It will have updates on my completed, current and upcoming fics. Hope to see you there!
Hope you enjoyed the story so far. Comments and criticism are very much appreciated!! ^^
