Chapter 5

- Those frightened eyes -

“Kaa-san! I am going out for a while!” Aya called out to her mother while swinging the door open. Without looking at her way, she steps forward and bumped into something solid, pushing her backward a few steps.

“You are just as clumsy as always.” Aya heard a tease as she rubs her head gently from the collusion. She looks up and her eyes widened in surprise.

“Siwon! When did you get back?”

Siwon lifts up his hand, pushing back his sleeve and glances down at his watch.

“Erm… I say about half an hour ago. Don’t tell me you are going out when I just come to visit?”

“Welcome back! Come on in!” Aya held Siwon’s hand and drew him in.

“Aya-chan, who is it?” Aya’s mother came out and her eyes widened in surprise at whom it was.

“Ara~ Welcome back Siwon.” Siwon bows to Aya’s mother. Jaejoong, whom was lying by the couch and reading a magazine, stood up and went to Aya’s side.

“This is…” Siwon broke off, waiting for Aya to continue.

“Ah~ Haven’t introduce you two. This is Choi Siwon, a very good friend of mine.” Aya directed her hand to Siwon then back at Jaejoong.

“This is Uemura Kazuki… the one I told you so much about… my fiancé.” Aya’s voice suddenly turned soft and gentle.

Jaejoong slides one hand onto Aya’s shoulder and extended his other hand to Siwon.

“Nice to meet you.” Jaejoong said with a greeting smile. Siwon reached his hand out and gave Jaejoong’s hand a shake.

“Aya-chan, didn’t you have some matters to attend to? Want me to accompany you?” Jaejoong spoke gently, his hand now slid down to her waist.

“I can do it some other time.” Aya spoke with the same gentle tone to Jaejoong.

Siwon let out a fake cough, diverting Aya and Jaejoong’s attention from each other.

“I just remember I can’t stay. I have to go back to see my old man. He is expecting me to join for dinner later.”

“Oh… Well you better get back then. We will have time again now that you are back. Let me send you off.” Siwon nodded and follows Aya to the door. She waved goodbye to Siwon before he walks off. Jaejoong cast a side-glance at Siwon and smirk at the expression on Siwon’s face. As such as Siwon tries to conceal his disappointment, Jaejoong could still see through it. Just as Aya closed the door, Jaejoong drop off the smirk and put on his usual smiley face.

Aya came to Jaejoong’s side with a frown and Jaejoong return with an innocent look.

“What’s wrong, Aya-chan?”

“Siwon and I are just good friends. There’s nothing else between us. I swear!”

“You think I… Silly girl.” Jaejoong reached his hand and gave Aya a light pinch on the cheek. Aya giggled and rubs her cheek gently. Just then, she raised her sight and noticed something as she stares into his eyes.

“Kazuki… Your eyes… are blue.” The smile on Jaejoong’s face fades off as he broke eye contact.

“I am just wearing contact lens. Nothing unusual.” Jaejoong explained with an awkward chuckle.

“You always have good eyesight. Since when you started wearing contacts?” Without realizing, Aya leans her face closer to Jaejoong, trying to have a better look at his eyes.

“Few years back… I can’t remember.” With Aya’s face practically just inches away from Jaejoong’s face, Jaejoong was feeling uncomfortable and jerks Aya away from him.

“What’s wrong with wearing contact lens?!” Jaejoong suddenly raised his voice to Aya. When he calmed down his nerves, he noticed he had frightened Aya as she stares at him with those startled eyes.

“I’m sorry. I need to go out for a while.” Jaejoong spoke tonelessly before striding passed Aya to the door.

After Aya finally regained herself, she twirls to the back and called out to Jaejoong.

“Kazuki!” All she saw was the slam of the door and Jaejoong was gone. Suddenly she felt guilty inside about how it turned like this.

Jaejoong went to a pub and starts downing many glasses of alcohol drinks. Another glass was placed in front of him and he gulped it in a go before slamming it down hard with his head bend down as well. Why did he react like that? Those eyes… it was the kind he never wanted to see again. Those eyes that shows fear of what he does. It was common for his victim to show fear of him as he sends them to their death. But he will never forget that one person that makes him felt disgusted of himself from getting those stares.

“Hey handsome!”

Jaejoong shift his gaze towards the voice and saw a girl with long curly hair, wearing a spaghetti-strapped dark knee-length dress.

“Lonely? Why not have a drink with me? My treat.” The girl spoke in a flirty tone.

Jaejoong smirked and the girl snaps her finger to the bartender. The bartender nodded and not long after, slides two drink to them. They clink their glasses together before downing the drink.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The girl’s back bumped hard on the wall of the narrow corridor as Jaejoong and her had their lips interlocked together fiercely, kissing passionately. Her hands moving around, messing up Jaejoong’s hair and smothered down his back. Jaejoong had his hands wrapped tightly around her waist, pulling her closer towards him. A moan or two escaped the girl’s throat during their kisses and her hands naturally move about to remove the jacket from over Jaejoong’s shoulder.

Just then, the necklace around Jaejoong’s neck dangled out of his shirt and the soft clinking sound of the ring against the silver chain snapped Jaejoong from his actions as his eyes now flashed open.

The girl continues to smother all over him although Jaejoong had stopped. Jaejoong pushed the girl away from him and she stares at him bewilderingly as Jaejoong shrugged his jacket back firmly on his shoulder. A cold expression plastered on his face as he ignored the girl and was about to walk off, but then the girl gripped on his elbow, causing Jaejoong to stop and glance her down over his shoulder.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

Jaejoong uttered a silent chuckle before he answered.

“I am done playing with you.”

“Playing? You men are all alike. Taking advantage of a girl and just throw her aside.” Jaejoong smirked and leans in staring her coldly, which causes her to unexpectedly shrunk backward slightly.

“Trying to play victim? That’s quite a speech coming from someone whom voluntarily baited herself out expecting to get a good catch.” His words were like a hard drop on the girl as she loosens her grip on him and he jerked off her hand before walking off.

“Whatever jerk…” Jaejoong could hear the girl mumbled frustratingly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aya heard the clinking of keys before the squeaking sound of the door swinging open. She opens the door of her room and was met with Jaejoong stopping outside of her room, staring at her with an expressionless face.

“Okaeri–” Jaejoong didn’t wait for Aya to finish her words and was already slamming the door shut on his way into his room.

“Kazuki…” Aya muttered sadly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jaejoong threw himself hard on the bed and exhaled a long heavy breath. He shut his eyes tightly, trying to get some sleep but only to find even his own light breathing disturbing. He twisted and turned around the bed but it doesn’t help at all and he slams his hands hard on both sides. The bounce on the bed caused another clinking sound made by the ring against the silver chain.

Jaejoong pushed himself to sit up against the wall and lifts the ring before his eyes. The single diamond ring glister below the extending glow of the moonlight beaming through the window. Jaejoong stares at it, feeling the aching feeling in his chest that he thought have long gone by now.

In his mind, it recalled the tale behind this ring, replaying the painful memories Jaejoong tried so hard to let go…

Author's Note: Tada! It isn't Kazuki but Choi Siwon, a.k.a Mr. Choi's son :P. That's why I say Jaejoong's mission officially starts. Jaejoong had let him act rash again. But he can't really help it when he was suddenly reminded of a 'forbidden' love. It was Jaejoong's first love and his last... up till now. Wanna know the story? It will be up in the next chapter.

I feel like I am blabbering too much. Hope it isn't too boring. >_< But I am estimating only about 20 chapters for this actually. So now already done a quarter.
