As he was walking on the street, he halted as his sight was drawn to a couple walking in front of him. Their hands were held together and they were staring at each other and talking sweetly with smiles that sent goosebumps all over Jaejoong’s body just watching them. They stopped a short distance away as the guy noticed Jaejoong’s presence before them.
“Hyung! When did you get back?”
Jaejoong smiles gleefully at the guy before bringing his gaze to the girl beside him. She held her hands low together before her and bows a greeting to him. Jaejoong too bends his upper body slightly to a bow in reply.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They found a table in the nearby café and sat down for a drink…
“You must be Ri In. It is nice to finally meet Jun-chan’s future wife.”
Ri In lowers her blushed face and Junsu furrows his eyebrows at Jaejoong. Jaejoong ignored Junsu and leaned his face forward against his palm with his elbow rested on the table.
“What’s about this dull and childish Jun-chan that attracts you?” Jaejoong asked bluntly. Junsu’s eyes send warning to Jaejoong and Jaejoong just smiles gleefully.
“I met Junsu in the music academy I worked in…” Ri In started shyly.
“Ah~ Yoochun’s music academy.”
“You know Park Yoochun?” Ri In asked.
“He is my childhood friend… Sorry, go on.” Jaejoong waves his hand to a gesture for her to continue.
“Junsu was working as a vocal teacher…” Ri In continued.
“Jun-chan a vocal teacher?!” Jaejoong said, purposely adding an element of shocked in his tone.
“I have been working in Yoochun’s music academy as part-time vocal teacher, applying to be a permanent there.” Junsu explained through his gritted teeth, glaring at Jaejoong.
“I guess your time in the karaoke room paid out.”
“What?” Ri In didn’t hear clearly what Jaejoong said, but Junsu gave Jaejoong a look saying ‘Don’t you dare repeat that’.
“Nothing, please continue.” Jaejoong waves his hand innocently, suppressing his urge to laugh out loud. Junsu continue glaring with irritation at Jaejoong’s amused look. If Ri In wasn’t here, he would have given Jaejoong a piece of his mind.
“I guess seeing each other so often… feelings start to develop. But the things about him that attracts me the most is… he is kind, concerning, sweet, protective, humorous and most important of all… he loves me.” Ri In stares into Junsu’s eyes when she finished the last statement before letting out a shy smile as she lower her gaze. Junsu held her hand into his and replied her with a smile as well.
“Jaejoong, what’s your occupation?” Ri In suddenly turned her attention to Jaejoong.
Jaejoong placed his hand down, crossed together with his other hand on the table as he leans forward with a smirk.
“I worked in one of the most dangerous career in the world.”
“What is it?” Ri In leans forward, curiosity sparkles in her eyes.
“It’s-”
“Jaejoong is a stock broker!” Junsu cut in.
Jaejoong and Ri In both look confused at Junsu.
“The war in the stock market is never-ending. You could get wealthy instantly gaining a bunch and the next instant you could be dead broke. It’s indeed a battle of life and death.” Junsu explained.
“That sounds scary and dangerous. I remember seeing a news headline of a guy committing suicide from losing everything from his investment in the stock market.” Ri In said with a frown.
“I never knew how ‘dangerous’ a stock broker can be.” Jaejoong said sarcastically, arching one eyebrow at Junsu. Junsu just smiles awkwardly.
“Jaejoong is a professional so he never worries about the risk at stake…”
“But…” Ri In glanced once at Jaejoong’s clothing. He was wearing a jean and a round-necked shirt with a brown jacket as overcoat.
“I thought stock broker has more formal wears.” Ri In said. Jaejoong glanced down at his clothing and smiles.
“Oh, I took a few days off to Japan for a little vacation. Just got back today.” Jaejoong explained and Ri In nodded.
“Ri In ah, I think we should be heading back now. You got a violin class shortly, right?” Junsu tried to change the subject. Ri In glanced down at her watch and her eyes widened at the time.
“Yes, we better be heading back.”
Junsu held her by the elbow and lifts her up straight in a gentleman manner, pulling her to his side before pushing the chair back in. Just as Junsu was about to lead her away, Ri In turns towards Jaejoong, whom now stood up as well.
“Jaejoong, are you free? Do you want to drop by the music academy for a while?” Ri In politely offered.
“Sure.” Jaejoong answered with a smile.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Jaejoong, I am surprised to see you back.” Yoochun said, spreading his arms wide to accept a quick hug from Jaejoong.
“When did you get back?” Yoochun asked.
“Just today. So I thought I drop in under Ri In’s invitation.”
“I see you guys already met. Ri In, the students are already in the room.” Yoochun pointed to one of the room on the left. Ri In nodded, waving goodbye to them before heading off. After Ri In disappeared from their sight, Jaejoong arched an eyebrow at Junsu.
“Stock broker? Is that the best you can think of, Kim Junsu?”
“It was so sudden. You can’t expect to bluntly tell her you are a killer.” Junsu countered. Yoochun just crossed his hands before his chest and stares puzzled at both of them.
“You are a killer too. Were you thinking of hiding it from her forever?”
“Which is why I decided to retire and work permanent as a vocal teacher here.”
Jaejoong looked pissed. He spins one circle before facing back Junsu and Yoochun with his hands placed on his hips and his gaze lowered. There was a moment of silence with only the sound of Jaejoong’s shoe tapping before he raised his gaze to Junsu.
“A vocal teacher? You are really serious about that?” Jaejoong asked sternly.
“You can ask Yoochun…” Junsu said with his face averted, looking away from Jaejoong. Jaejoong look towards Yoochun and he nodded.
“I thought we were a team! Partners! Were you not planning on telling me about this?”
“Team?! Partners?! For as long as I could remember, you have always worked things out your way… always going solo… does that count as a team?!” Junsu’s voice rose up in rage.
“That’s because…” Jaejoong’s voice trailed off, letting his heavy breathing slowly soothe down before he continue his words.
“I don’t want what happened to Yunho to be repeated on any of you.” His voice turned soft.
Junsu’s anger reduced as well. So Jaejoong has been blaming himself for Yunho’s injury. It must have been hard for him to keep all those guilt in and plastered a casual face like nothing happened.
Junsu walked towards Jaejoong and placed a hand firmly on Jaejoong’s shoulder.
“None of us blame you for what happened. So you acted reckless and caused Yunho’s injury, but it wasn’t all bad. Yunho is now retired as a killer and spending most of his time at home with his little girl. I think he is somehow thankful of that incident.”
Junsu gave Jaejoong’s shoulder a light squeeze.
“I am sorry for overreacting. But do you really have to retire as a killer? I still need you, I always do.”
“You have been sharpening your skills to make up for your previous recklessness. I may not be a killer anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t help you… as a friend.”
Jaejoong and Junsu exchange smiles before clasping their hands once hard.
“Okay, we are one big happy family again.” Yoochun flings both arms around Jaejoong’s and Junsu’s shoulder before they burst out laughing.
“I need to get back to work now. Junsu can show you around the place a little.” Yoochun gave a light pat at Junsu’s shoulder before walking off. After Yoochun was gone from their sight, Jaejoong look at Junsu with a curious face.
“Jun-chan, what is Ri In’s biggest attraction to you that you would give up being a killer? I remembered you enjoy the adrenaline rush of being a killer. ”
“You want to know? Follow me.” Junsu grinned and headed to the room Ri In was doing her teaching. Jaejoong furrowed his eyebrows and stares questioningly at Junsu before following Junsu off.
They stopped outside of the room and look inside through the square glass frame on the wooden door.
“Okay students… Take out the violin from your case and look at the music sheet before you. Today we will be playing that song. I will play it once and then you will try it.”
Ri In rested her violin firmly on her left shoulder while her right hand holds the bow. Ri In let her eyes shut lightly as she moves the bow along the strings on the violin. Smoothing music was heard as the bow brushed onto the strings on the violin. Her hands moves swiftly on quicker rhythm and flows slow on the gentle portion of the music. The students listen intensely to the music played by their teacher. Even Jaejoong was unexpectedly mesmerized by it.
“Remarkable, isn’t she?” Jaejoong snapped from his daze when he heard Junsu’s remark.
“Her music allows the most messy and tainted part of your heart to become as clear as the smoothing rhythm of the calm sea. All the other noises surrounding seem to disappear and only preoccupied by the melody flowing from the violin she played, like the angel of music has descended from heaven.”
Jaejoong shifts his gaze to Junsu and saw the gentleness in his eyes as the warm smile curved up his lips.
“All those years of adrenaline rush from being a killer just instantly washed away from the sight of her and her violin. It was an awesome feeling the blood pumping fast throughout your whole body when you are facing danger and the risk of losing your life the next second. But it all meant nothing when she appeared. You still feel that fast beating of your heart but at the same time… calm from the smile on her face… making you realize life isn’t worth that kind of risk… unless it is to protect someone as precious as her.”
Jaejoong just stares at Junsu, feeling like Junsu had somehow matured into this person he never knew existed until Ri In’s appearance. The desire to protect someone – it is indeed an inexpressible yet remarkable feeling. A feeling that one might never know if he is fully devoted to a job of casually killing another for the thrill and payment it brings; when all that matters is one’s victory and not the appreciation of another’s life value.
“Yah~ I am getting goosebumps hearing all these. What have you done to the Jun-chan I know?” Jaejoong teased jokingly. Junsu smiled and laid a punch to Jaejoong’s upper arm.
“I don’t have anything else to say now that you already made the decision. Appreciate what you have now Junsu. It's easy to lose it but isn’t easy to keep it.” Jaejoong patted Junsu’s shoulder lightly before turning away to leave.
“Hyung! I am sure you will find the one as well!” Junsu called out to Jaejoong’s back. Jaejoong paused and swings his head back to see Junsu.
“A guy that’s devoted his life to being a killer… Wanna bet on that?” A smirk came upon his lips before he turned away and left.

Since she had nothing to do for the day, Aya decided to go to Jaejoong’s room and help him clean up a little. She brought with her some new bed sheets and pushed her back against the door, swinging the door open before entering.
She took out the bed sheets and pillow covers from the bed and replaced the ones she newly brought in. As she flapped the blanket neatly on the bed, she noticed a slight sparkle coming from the dark corner under the table. She gave few last pats flattening the wrinkled surface of the bed linen before she made her way to the table.
Aya crouched down by the table and strained her eyes to the object glittering in the dark. She tilted her shoulder inward to under the table and stretches her hand hard to take it. After a slight struggle, her face lit up as she grabbed hold of the object. She sat on the floor with her legs folded together, giving a light blow to her closed palm before opening it and revealing the object.
“This is so pretty!” Aya exclaimed as she glanced at the single diamond ring on her palm. Her face lit up to a smile when the possibility of this ring being a gift to her popped into her mind.
She gently uses her fingers to brush the dust on the ring and noticed there were words craved on the inner part of the ring. She lifts the ring closer before her eyes so she could get a better look at the engraved words.
“Forever in my heart…” Aya twisted the ring slowly around to read the words. Her heart thumped rapidly as she was reaching the last word and stopped almost instantly when she saw it.
“E?” Aya wondered; a frown formed on her lips. What does the ‘E’ mean? Aya couldn’t help thinking Kazuki had someone else when they were separated.

Jaejoong stares up at the old building before him. A smile made its way to his face as he lowers his gaze to the little children running around the place and some even playing among themselves, reminding him of those days he was part of this ‘family’ as well.
“Aigoo~ Yong Ri. You are supposed to play with the sand, not eat them.”
Jaejoong twirled towards the familiar voice and saw the middle-aged lady crouching by a sandy corner wiping the mouth of the little kid sitting there with sandy hands. He walked towards her and stopped nicely before them.
“Ms. Sung.”
The lady lifts her head up when she heard someone called her. She scrunched her eyebrows together as she slowly stood up while her gaze fixed on this young man before her. Jaejoong smiles at her and her mouth parted as she recalled whom he is.
“Jaejoong sshi!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ms. Sung placed a cup of warm drink on the table for Jaejoong and he thanked her before taking a sip of it.
“What brings you here? And don’t tell me you just drop by to visit me.”
Jaejoong laughed before bringing his attention to her.
“I can never hide anything from you. Actually I want to ask you of someone. He is from this orphanage as well.” Jaejoong started.
“Oh, what’s his name?” She asked.
“His name is Uemura Kazuki.”
“Uemura Kazuki? That name sounds familiar. Maybe you can describe his facial features for me a little, see if I can recall anything.”
“He… looks exactly like me.”
Ms. Sung’s eyes instantly widened and her face drained of its colors. She stumbled slightly and Jaejoong promptly got up from his seat and rushed to her side, crouching beside her.
“Ms. Sung, are you okay? You look pale.” Jaejoong asked worriedly.
“All those years it has been haunting me, no matter how much I did to make up for it… I could never be rid of the guilt until eventually the day the truth is to be told.” She muttered.
“What are you saying? I don’t understand at all.” Jaejoong stares bewildered at Ms. Sung.
Ms. Sung startled Jaejoong when she suddenly gripped hold of his arm and look up at him with guilt filled face.
“It was my first day working here… I still remembered the orphanage was packed as we held the adoption day. A couple came towards me to complete the adoption document, the lady’s hand were gripping on him. How innocent he looked then… his cheek puffed roundly as he munched on a lollipop.”
A drop of tears rolled down her face. Jaejoong lift his finger up to wipe it off her face. Jaejoong was still confused with where this is going, but he patiently listen to her while making out himself what was all this about.
“He was such a good boy… answering each question I asked… not realizing they were the remaining information required for the adoption document. Then he just obediently follows the couple away after the procedures are done and I didn’t bother any further. Until I heard screaming and saw you recklessly running towards the road, calling his name and running after the car he was in.”
Images begun flashing before Jaejoong’s eyes, but each at such a speed Jaejoong couldn’t recall properly the moments, like a movie being fast-forward before him.
“You just stood there outside the orphanage with your gaze never leaving the road which the car disappeared. Everyone was too busy to care… until a heavy rain start pouring in where we started gathering all the children and adults into the orphanage. I tried to do a head count but with the children playing and running around the place, it took a while. Then a boy shouted that there was someone outside under the rain. It was you… you refused to come in no matter what I say… mumbling to yourself that he will come back. You got sick soaked in the rain; high fever over 105 degrees; but you never stopped mumbling he will come back. You disappeared when I just left you for a short while and I found you later standing at that same spot outside staring out at the road.”
“Me?” Jaejoong stares puzzled at Ms. Sung.
“Yes. It was strange then. You put up quite a struggle when I tried to drag you back in despite your high fever. But eventually you fainted and stayed in bed for a whole week before you recovered. I remembered you were like a completely different person when you recovered, laughing and playing around with all the other children in the orphanage.”
Jaejoong stood up with his hand pressed hard on the side of his head. Why can’t he remember any of that? All those memories of the past… all were blank up till the year before he was adopted by his master.
“Uemura Kazuki… what… what is his relation to me?” Jaejoong spoke breathlessly, swallowing a lump of saliva down his dry throat.
“Jaejoong, you still don’t remember him? I thought…” She broke off as she stares off to a thought.
“Come with me.” Ms. Sung took hold of Jaejoong’s hand and starts dragging him off somewhere in the orphanage.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She took him to all the places that hoping could trigger his memory. Even reaching back to the old room Ms. Sung said they once shared when they were young, but Jaejoong just stares at the surrounding blankly and shaking his head side to side at Ms. Sung.
Then she dragged him back once again to her office. Jaejoong just crossed his hands upon his chest, looking down at Ms. Sung questioningly as she rummages the drawers of the cabinet beside her table.
“Found it!” He heard her excited scream.
She stood up, patting her wrinkled skirt before heading to Jaejoong’s side.
“Maybe this will help better. It’s your family photo.” She extended the photo to him. He glanced down at the photo showing a man and a lady hugging a pair of twin boys.
“You mean…” Jaejoong raised his sight to Ms. Sung and she nodded. He brought his sight back to the photo and stares incredulously at it.
“Kazuki is my brother?!”
