Chapter 2

Waiting

“Come on Myo, just give up. He’s not coming.”

“Wai! Bosco, if you don’t have anything good to say then don’t say anything at all. He promised that he’d come back and I know he’ll show up.”

“Come back to reality Myolie, it’s been 4 years after your meeting date.”

“Well maybe something happened and it’s prevented him from coming in the past. It doesn’t mean he won’t come. Maybe he just couldn’t be here the other few times, he’ll come! I know it!”

“Myolie, I just don’t want you wasting your entire life waiting for this guy, who for all we know might never come. I mean what if he’s died?"

Myolie looked at him with an angry face, “I’m warning you, I told you once already, and I’ll tell you again, if you don’t have anything good to say then don’t open that big fat mouth of yours.”

“Sorry la, I wasn’t thinking before I spoke.”

“Wai, you don’t have to wait here with me.” Myolie told Bosco

“I might as well, it’s not the first time anyways.”

“Don’t you have to be at the hospital for a surgery later today?” Myolie asked.

“Oh, I totally forgot. Thanks for reminding me.”

“No prob. I wonder sometimes how you became a doctor...always forgetting thing...well you better get going.”

“You sure you’ll be alright here alone? Maybe you should just leave with me now.”

“I’ll be fine,” Myolie assured him, “I’m a big girl now. I can take care of myself. Plus I want to watch the sunset.”

“Fine, if you need a ride later, call me, okay.”

“It’s okay, I’ll take a taxi home.”

“Okay, see you later.”

“Bye, drive carefully” Myolie instructed as she waved her hand.

“Don’t worry I will” Bosco shouted behind him as he was leaving.

At the same time in a different area...

“Still waiting for your dream girl?” Leila asked from behind
Ray, who was sitting there looking out at the city, turned his head to face the voice.

“Hey, what are your doing here?” he asked

“Well I went over to your apartment, planning to get some breakfast with you, but you weren’t there. I figured you’d be here, so I decided to test my luck.” she answered him.

Raymond turned his attention back to the view of the city as Leila took a seat on the ground next to him.

“So how can you be so sure she’ll come?” Leila asked curiously. “I mean she hasn’t for the past, what, four years? For all you know she’s probably married with kids now.”

“She wouldn’t break our promise” Raymond told her.

“So you just plan to wait here for her until she shows up?

“Don’t you have to be at work?” Raymond asked trying to change the subject.

“Oh, I’m so glad you reminded me. Today’s my first day there. I don’t want to be late.”

“You sure sound excited about work, that’s a first. All I ever here is your complaints about not wanting to go to work.”

“I love my job for your information. I get to put people out and I get paid for it. you know how much I make each time I do the job? I can buy a whole lot of stuff with the money I make.”

“Leila could you sound more professional? You’re an anesthesiologist.”

“I wonder if the doctor I’m working with today is cute or not. I heard he’s a young and talented cardiologist .”

“Here you go again...”

“Sorry la...well I better get going. I’m suppose to met him before the actual surgery.”

“Wai, do you know how to get to the hospital?” Raymond asked.

“What do you think I am? Stupid? Of course I how to get there.”

“Hey how am I suppose to know. You did get lost on your first day at our previous hospital.”

“Okay that was like three years ago.”

“Fine drive safely, I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“See ya!”

Bosco was driving along in his silver BMW convertible, he had the hood down and the music turned up. The road was quiet with his car being the only one, he looked out the window on his left and wasn't paying attention to the road ahead of him for a second.

When he looked again he saw the light was green so he continued to speed down the road. Suddenly he noticed a car just sitting there at the light, but he was getting too close. He slammed on his breaks so hard the tires were screeching. In the end he still hit the car.

Bosco quickly unbuckled his seat beat and got out of his car. At the same time a girl came out from the other car, “Are you okay miss?” Bosco asked concernedly, “Are you hurt anywhere? I can take a look, I’m a doc...”

The girl ignored him and pushed him out of the way. Bosco looked at her, “Okay...” was the only thing he could say.

The girl made her way to the back of the car. She then turned to Bosco, “Wai do you know how to drive!” She exclaimed.

“Excuse me? I think I should be asking you that question miss. You’re the one who has your car parked here while the light is green.”

“My car died, can’t you see I have my emergency blinkers on.”

“Ummm...no you don’t”

“Yes I do! Look,” She pointed but realized that indeed they weren’t on. “Well still, you should have seen my car not moving and you should have stopped.”

“Well I was looking out my window for a second, and the next thing I know your car is just there, and...”

“Ah ha! You admit it, you weren’t paying attention. It was your fault.”

“Okay miss, I think we’ve both had out fault in this.”
“Whatever, it was definitely all your fault.” the girl said unwilling to admit defeat.

“Fine, what do you want to do?” Bosco asked politely.

“Well I’m a fair person, I think we should call the police and have them settle this.” the girl suggested

“Fine,” Bosco said but looking at his watch, “Oh shit! If I wait until the police comes and settle this it’ll take hours...I’ll be late by then.” Bosco thought.

“Look miss I have to go,” Bosco told the girl.

He went to his car and grabbed his jacket out and found his wallet. He fumbled through and pulled a card out and handed it to the girl. “Here’s my card, it has my office number, my house number, my cell phone number, my fax number for both my home and office, and my e-mail. Just send me your bill of all the damages or call me when you get the estimates on the repair made.”

Bosco quickly got into his car, backed up and drove away.

Leaving the girl standing there angrily, “Wai! Wai! Grrrrr......”
