Bosco and Leila stepped out of the apartment at the same time.

“Morning, just you this morning?”

“Yeah, Ray came and picked Myolie up this morning, but I wasn’t ready yet, so I asked them to go ahead…and like you’re always saying, they need more opportunities together.”

“So, do you need a ride?”

“Sure”

As they both stepped into the elevator both Leila and Bosco reaches for the button and their hands meet.

“Sorry” They both apologized.

Bosco pressed the one button. Leila stares at him, last night she decided, he was the one. There was no more denying, she had fallen in love with him.

For the next few weeks, Raymond picked Myolie up every morning and took her home every night. He refused to let Myolie drive or be alone at all time possible.

“Raymond, you made a right turn.”

“I know.”

“Are you not taking me back to my apartment?

“Not right now.”

“Where are we going then?”

“You’ll see when we get there.”

“Wah! It’s so pretty here.” Myolie ran into the see of luscious green grass that that was speckled with lots of beautiful flowers.

Raymond pulled out a basket from his trunk.

“We’re having a picnic?”

Raymond nodded as he spread a blanket on the ground.

Myolie sat next to him, “What are we having?”

Raymond pulled out a few Tupperware.

“Mmm…salad, potatoes, and chicken wings!”

“I made them myself, but I’m not too sure how good it is. My cooking skills are very limited.”

Myolie picked up one of the wings, “This is really good.” She smiled at Raymond and handed him a piece too.

As it got dark Raymond pulled out some of sparkling fireworks. Myolie and Raymond played with them until they were all gone.

“Thanks for tonight, I had a lot of fun. It was nice doing something different for a change.”

Raymond pulled up in front of Myolie’s apartment complex, “Do you want me to walk you up?”

“No, I’ll be fine.”

“You sure?”

“I’m sure,” Myolie said tucking her hair behind her ear, when she noticed her right earring was missing. Myolie started to look around herself.

“What are you looking for?” Raymond asked seeing if he could.

“My earring, it must have fallen out earlier.”

“Is it really important?”

“Yeah, my good friend, Annie, gave it to me before leaving to Australia.”

“Why don’t you get out and I’ll take a look for you.”

After searching high and low in his car, Raymond finally declared, “I can’t find it.”

“It’s okay, just forget about it. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Okay, I’m off tomorrow, but I’ll still come pick you up.”

Myolie nodded. After Myolie went up to her apartment Raymond got his flashlight and started to search his car again. He check every inch and every crack, but he had no luck, “Maybe she dropped it earlier where we were having dinner.” Raymond drove back to the spot and started to retrace their steps. He looked in the grass and even checked in the dirt. His eye started to itch and he’d rub it. He stayed the all night, soon even the sun came out. Finally Raymond found the earring.

Yawning he headed home, Raymond arrived about ten after eight. He made a quick phone call and without changing, brushing his teeth, or anything he plopped himself on his bed and was off to sleep.

As Myolie walked out the gate of her apartment complex she looks around for Raymond’s car, when a taxi pulls up in front of her.

“Are you Ms. Wu?” The drive asked, “A Mr. Lam called for a taxi to be sent to pick you up.”

“Okay, thank you.” Myolie got it. They arrived and Myolie asked, “How much do I owe you?”

“It’s already paid for,” the drive replied.

“Thanks again.” Myolie smiled thinking about how thoughtful Raymond was, but she wondered where he was and why he hadn’t come instead.

It was around four when Raymond woke up. His eye that was itching last night had now turned to pain. He kept his right eye closed and with his left eye barely open he headed towards the bathroom. After washing his face he tried to open his eye, but it hurt too much. He left it alone and went to take a shower. He changed and was about to go pick Myolie up.

He opened the door and was about to get into his car, but after some thinking he locked his car door and went to catch a taxi.

He took the elevator to the level Myolie’s office was located. Not being able to see clearly where he was going he ran into the person in front of him causing her to drop all her papers.

They both bent down to pick up the papers. “I’m really sorry.” Raymond apologizes.

“Raymond?” Myolie looks up from the paper to the person.

“Oh, it’s you Myolie, I’m really sorry.” He hands her the stack of papers.

“It’s alright, but what are you doing here, I thought you had the day off and you didn’t come this morning…”

“I wanted to tell you I found your earring.” He pulled a box out from his pocket and handed it to Myolie.

Myolie opened the box and saw her earring, “Thanky Raymond!”

“Thanky?”

“Oh, I used to say that all the time when I was younger, I haven’t said it in the longest time.” Then noticing Raymond had his right eye closed, she asked, “What’s wrong with your eye?”

“I don’t know, it started hurting when I got up.”

“Let’s go to my office and I’ll take a look at it.”

“That’ll be great.” He followed Myolie down to her office.

“Can you open it?” She asked

“I tried earlier, but it hurt too much.”

“I’m going to open it and take a look.” Myolie gently pushed Raymond’s eyelid up. “It’s really red. Did it itch earlier?” Raymond nodded. “Did you rub it with your hands.” Raymond nodded again. “We’re your hands clean when you did?”

Raymond thought back to last night when he was digging in the dirt and grass looking for Myolie’s earring, “Probably not…”

“Okay we’ll your eye must have gotten infected, plus you wore your contacts to sleep making the situation. You should know better not to do that next time. If you want to sleep with your contacts in I can order the type that’s okay. I’m going to take your contacts out for you.” Myolie leaned in closer to Raymond’s face. “I’m going to prescribe you some eye drops and you’re probably not going to be able to wear contacts for the next week or so. I’d suggest you wear your glasses if you don’t want to go blind.”

“A week! That long, do I have to?” He gave Myolie a puppy face.

“Yes, you have to, and I don’t see anything wrong with that.”

“But I look like a nerd when I wear my glasses.:

“I never thought you’d be the type to care so much about your appearance. Certainly it can’t be that bad.”

“You want to bet.” Raymond pulled out his glasses case and put on his glasses. Myolie smiled. “See you’re laughing at me.”

“No, I was smiling because I don’t understand why you said it make you like a nerd. I think it gives off more of a doctor vibe and it makes you look more charming, more handsome.”

“Really?”

Myolie nodded, “I like this look.”

“You sure? If I get laughed at, I’ll come make you pay.” He joked.

:”Okay, well I’m ready to go, would you like to join me for dinner? It’ll be my treat for finding my earring.”

“We have to go out to public with me looking like this?”

“Come on Raymond, you’re going to have to wear them and come to work for the next few days anyways.”

“That’s tomorrow, I’ll worry about it then.”

“Well what are we going to do for now?”

Raymond put his glasses away, “You’ll be my guiding stick”

Myolie let out a sigh, “Fine let’s go” she put Raymond’s hand on her arm.

Sitting down at a restaurant, Raymond held his menu up really close to his face trying to read it.

Myolie couldn’t help but laugh, “Just put your glasses on Raymond. I promise you look fine.”

Raymond shook his head. “No way!”

“Well I’m going to the restroom, I’ll be back, and hopefully by then you’ll have put on your glass so you can read.”

Taking her seat again, Myolie asked, “Ready to order yet?”

Raymond looked up at her, “You look different Myolie” but couldn’t really tell, everything just looked so blurred.

“Why don’t you put on your glasses and have a look.”

“Fine,” he quickly put on his glasses. “You’re wearing glasses too.”

“Does it make you feel any better now? Talk about looking nerdy. I look like a bigger geek than you. So will you keep your glasses on now? I seriously don’t want you going blind.”

“Okay, I’ll be a good patient and listen.”

“Why don’t you just get lasik surgery and correct your vision?”

“Do you think I haven’t thought about it. My previous eye doctor says it’s not for me.”

“Well what I said earlier still stands I do think you look good with your glasses on.”

They finished dinner and went for a walk. They walked through this area were a lot of people were selling all sorts of things on the sidewalk. They began looking at the items. They stopped at a small stall that had a lot of old style toys on the side and jewelry on a small table.

“I remember playing with these toys when I was younger.” Myolie said. Then she looked at the jewelry.

Raymond and Myolie both reached for the same thing at the same time and their hands touched, they both quickly re-treated their hand. Slowly Raymond picked up the item and handed it to Myolie.

“Thanks” She held it and smiled, “I use to have a pair like these when I was a kid. They were my favorite, but I lost them when I moved.”

“I had a friend who had some like these too.” Raymond said thinking of Yee. “She loved them so much, I remember her wearing them everyday.” He picked up one of the two clips and held it against Myolie’s hair.

“Miss, those clips really match you.” The woman tried to sell.

“I think I’m a little too old for them now, don’t you think.”

“I don’t think so, I think they make you look really cute.” Raymond gave her a smile.

“Yes, you should listen to your boyfriend miss.”

“Okay, I’ll get them.”

“It’ll be $50 HK”

Raymond pulled the cash out from his pocket and handed it to the woman.

“You didn’t have to do that Raymond”

“Oh dear, a boyfriend buying things for his girlfriend is his job.”

“It’s to say thanks for my eye.”

“I’m a doctor.”

“and dinner”

“It was my treat for finding my earring.”

“And for making me feel better and telling me I look good with glasses.”

“I was just saying the truth.”

“Well…for changing into your glasses to make me feel more comfortable.”

“We’re friends.”

“If we’re friends then you’ll let me pay for you”

“Well thanks.”

Raymond walked Myolie to her apartment.

“Hey, do you think Leila and Bosco make a good couple? I think they have a chance of getting together.”

“What about us?” Raymond asked. “Do you think we have a chance?”

Myolie dropped her key. Raymond picked them up and handed it back to her, “Myolie, I…”

“Umm…I…uh…Raymond..it’s uh…getting late. I’ll see you tomorrow at work. She quickly went inside and closed the door.
