Many doctors gathered in their conference meeting room for usual Monday morning meeting. A few were seated around the large oval table, others were standing around chatting with each other about their weekend.
Two strangers entered and took a seat at the end of the table. At exactly 9 o’clock, everyone took a seat and the yurn jurn came in.
“Good morning,” He said and received back a reply of good morning from the rest of the doctors, “This morning I’d like to introduce you all to two of our new staff. Dr. Raymond Lam, he’s a neurologist.”
Raymond stood up, “ You can call me Ray or Raymond. I look forward to working with you all and learning from you all.”
The other doctors nodded and gave him a warm welcoming smile. He sat back down.
“And next to Dr. Lam we have Dr. Tong.”
Now it was Leila’s turn to stand up, “I’m Leila, I’m an anesthesiologist.” She said with a wave and a slight nod then she sat back down.
“Why don’t everyone else go around and introduce yourselves.”
“I’m Bowie Lam, head of A&E”
“I’m Benny Chan, I work in the pediatric department.”
“I’m Hawick Lau, I work with Bowie in the A&E.”
“I’m Melissa Ng, I’m a maternity doctor”
“Ada Choi, I’m in charge of the Critical Care unit.”
“Rebecca Chan, Head of the nurses.”
“Patrick Tam, I work in the physical therapy unit”
“I’m Bosco Wong, I’m a cardiologist.”
“Okay now that we’re all acquainted I’m sure you all will work well with each other. Oh and we do have another doctor, but she’s not in today. She’ll be back in next week.” The yuen jurn finished and dismissed the group.

“Hey, feeling better?” Bosco asked
“Okay, first of all I wasn’t sick. Second of all it wasn’t anything major. I don’t understand why I had to stay in the hospital. You’re wasting my money you know.”
“Aiya, come on I only suggested it to Hawick that you should stay. Plus it’s for your benefit. If it makes you feel any better I’ll pay for the expenses.”
“Really?”
“Of course la,”
“It’s okay, you should save it up as your ‘lo por boon’”
“I don’t even have a girlfriend yet, why would I need to save to get married?”
“You never know, and you don’t wait til you find a girlfriend to save. Sheesss...”
Myolie went home to rest the next day. She was ordered by Bosco to stay at home and not move a muscle. Of course, she didn’t listen. She cleaned her apartment, went to the park, got some lunch, and went shopping.
“Bosco will never know I did any of these things today as long as I get home before he does.”
Too bad Myolie’s plan didn’t work as she planned. Bosco made a surprise check-up during his lunch break....
It was 5:45, Myolie got herself situated on the couch. She was sure Bosco would arrive any minute to check on her.
Ding Dong....
“The door’s unlock.” Myolie shouted.
Bosco came in.
“Look I’ve been a good girl. I haven’t moved at all for the entire day.” Myolie told him proudly as she pointed to her legs.”
“Really?”
“Uh-huh” Myolie nodded.
“You’re sure you didn’t leave the house once today? Bosco
asked.
“Um...no...so what’s in the bag?” Myolie asked trying to change the subject.
Bosco set the white paper bag on the table, “Well it was you lunch...I came home once during my lunch break to check on you and bring you some food to make sure you weren’t starving...but who knew...you weren’t home.”
Uh-oh...busted!
“I was...”
“MYO!!!!”
“I’m sorry...” Myolie gave him her puppy face.
Bosco shook his head in disapprovingly.
Myolie opened the bag, “Wah, you got may favorite! You’re
the best!”
“Do you know what could have happened? You could have hurt yourself again...then you’ll have arthritis when you become old.” Bosco said in a an angry tone.
“I’m sorry la, I promise to rest the next few days.”
“You better! I warning you now...if you don’t stay home and rest I’ll take away your picture with him...”
“DON’T!!!!”
“So you’ll get some rest?”
“Yes sir!”
The next few days Myolie bored herself to death at home on her sofa. She watched 3 movies Bosco placed in her DVD player. Then she watched some shows on TV. Finally she decided to call some friends to see how they were doing only to be yell at by them for having nothing better to do...she stared at the ceiling...and fell asleep.
It was Monday and she was free again! Myolie walked happily into the hospital. “Morning Eddie, Morning Stacy, Morning Claire!” She said in a chirpy voice.
She headed to the elevator , push the up arrow and got into the lift when the elevator door open.
At the meeting, “Morning everyone, Dr. Wu we’re glad to have you back.” the yeun jurn told her.
“Thanks, I’m glad to be back, I’ve missed everyone so much.”
“Well it looks like you and Dr. Tong and Dr. Lam don’t have much fate,” the yern jurn teased, “You guys won’t be meeting again today. They have a surgery.” he explained.
“It’s okay, I’m not going anywhere, we have plenty of time in the future.”
