Chapter 2

Abandoned No More

She was sitting there drinking her coffee and eating her breakfast when she caught sight a magazine that her dad left at the other end of the table. The picture of the person on the cover looked oddly familiar, like she had seen him somewhere. She walked over to the other end and picked up the magazine. There before her was the picture of the person she wanted to see for all of these years. It was those eyes she longed to stare into and that smile she once admired that lured her to him in the first place. Ron Ng she said. All of those memories of him came rushing into her head as her brother called for her.

Raymond: Good Morning sis!

She turned around and saw her brother standing a foot away from her and the magazine too attracted him.

Raymond: That’s him isn’t it?

She nodded in agreement.

Raymond: So now you can finally go and see him. After all of these years you’ve waited for his return. And plus he’s the president of Ng-Sau Corp. didn’t dad say we’ll be working with them on their latest project. So that just gives you more opportunity to see him. Right Lei?

Leila: You always think you can see right through me don’t you?

Raymond: I can’t…

Leila: Sorry.

Raymond started laughing: After all of these years you still think the problem with this eye still gets to me. I’m still as good looking as ever, and most of the ladies think I look very hot with the shades on.

Leila began to laugh seeing how her brother was never unhappy turning whatever she ever says into his own amusement.

Raymond: Better hurry up little sis. Today we’re meeting with…Ron…(he laughed knowing that name makes his sister feel like she’s in heaven)

A small smile was formed on her face hearing the name…the name of the person she longed to see.

The two of them got out of their lovely mansion and into their car. The driver then without any hesitation drove them off to Lam Corp.

The two of them walked into the 15-floor office building as their many employees greeted them. They nodded and smiled modestly back as they entered the elevator with the other managers and CEOs. The top floor was where they would come out and go into their own office.

Leila went into hers and there sitting in her chair was her good friend Sammul Chan…the one who has been going after her for the past year.

Sammul: Good morning. Has anyone complimented on how you look stunning today?

Leila smiled: Well Mr. Chan, thank you for noticing. And could you be so kind to get out of my seat.

Sammul: Anything for you.

She let out a small giggle seeing his very odd yet wonderful gestures but yet she could not feel the same way he does for her. It was something that she didn’t see in his eyes, that spark that makes her feel so good when she sees Ron. Only seeing him could bring light into her darkest days and only in his eyes she could see her future with the man she truly loves.

Sammul waved his hand in front of her face as she still was stuck in her gaze and dream of Ron…she let out a sigh and realized that she was back in reality.

Sammul: Anyone home?

Leila: What are you doing?

Sammul: For a minute there I thought I lost you.

Leila: Well, you didn’t and now I need to get to work so…

Sammul: Lunch?

Leila: We’ll have to see cause I think today my dad wanted me and Raymond to go meet our newest collaborator.

Sammul: You’re meeting that guy…what’s his name…

A small smile crept up on her as he said his name: Ron Ng

Sammul: Right, he’s one good-looking guy…you better not fall under his spell of good looks and charm.

Leila: You never know…

Sammul: Well, I’ll see you later.

Leila: I guess.

Leila sat in her chair as she continued to day dream about meeting him.

~Ron’s Office building~

Ron called Linda in to ask her about his plans for today.

Ron: Any meetings?

Linda: Ummm…

Ron: It’s almost Christmas Linda

Linda: O right…it says here you have a meeting at lunch with the co-presidents of Lam Corp.

Ron: Right.

Linda: Can I come?

Ron: Let me think about it…of course you have to come, or who else would write down all the things we’re going to talk about?

Linda smiled: Okay, I’ll see you at lunch then?

Ron: Where are you going?

Linda: To get ready, silly.

Ron: ready for what?

Linda smiled: Lunch.

Ron checked his watch and to his amusement it was only 10 and his secretary was planning on getting ready for lunch. Rich people he said to himself.

Linda: What did you say?

Ron: Nothing.

Linda: So I can go now?

Ron: Ya.

She left him sitting there laughing about how these rich people are. Always so materialistic and superficial. Even though he too was rich, he would never do these things or maybe it was because he was a guy that he did not care about his appearance. His look was as normal and natural as any guy’s look could and should be. His hair was a mess, which only made him more attractive. He wore an Armani suit just because that was the only brand of suits he could find in his closet. He realized someone had been entering his mansion and would buy a new suit for him every month adding to his grand collection of Armani suits. He didn’t mind the colour of the shirt whether it was blue or pink he would still wear it. Either way he didn’t care but the ladies who worked for him sure did. Especially his secretary who he knew was also suppose to be his wife to be yet he continued to ignore that fact. He let out a deep heavy sigh seeing how his life was revolved around these superficial people and their fake smiles. If only he had the gut to jump off of the building and end his misery. But he can’t he couldn’t let his father down and most importantly he wanted to find what he had lost all of these years…love.

He heard a knock on his door and told the person to come in. There in front of him was the man that had helped in through his tough days when he returned from Europe. He was the one who did not abandon him like his other relatives…from this man he had learned so much. But this man too had to leave for the better.

Ron: Uncle…you’re back.

Bobby smiled: How’s my nephew…no more suicidal plans I hope…

Ron smiled: I don’t think so.

Bobby: That’s great…interested in joining me for lunch?

Ron: Can’t, I have plans.

Bobby: With Linda?

Ron: NO! (as his face was all scrunched up)

Bobby began to laugh seeing his nephew’s expression.
