[Recap of Chapter 18]
“Guigui, auntie here, can you please come to Japan now?” Xiao Yu’s mother cried as she requested Guigui to come over.
“Auntie, what happen? Why are you crying?” Guigui asked as her smile turned into a serious look.
“Xiao – Xiao Yu, he is in the hospital now.” Xiao Yu’s mother replied.
“I’ll come over now.” Guigui answered.
Guigui immediately brought a ticket to Japan, she went back home and changed and took the yet to unpack luggage and flew to Japan. Before she left, she reminded to Ya Tou to help her explain to the teachers.
“Xiao Yu, you asked me to wait for you and I did, so you cannot give up so easily.” Guigui mumble as she held back her tears.
Hours later, she reached Japan and she went straight to the hospital. She then head to the ward. Upon reaching the ward, she saw Xiao Yu’s mother sitting beside Xiao Yu’s bed.
“Guigui, you have come.” Xiao Yu’s mother exclaimed.
When Xiao Yu heard that Guigui had come, he used all his willpower to wake up. He slowly opened his eyes. A bright light shone at Guigui, she uses her hand to shield the bright light away, when she put down her hand, she saw Xiao Yu looking at her.

“How are you feeling now?” Guigui asked anxiously.
“I – I’m fine.” Xiao Yu answered as he squeezed out a smile.
Guigui then poured a cup of water for him to clear his throat. They chatted and Guigui pretends to be angry with him for lying the illness to her. What Guigui doesn’t know is that he won’t be able to make it after tonight. By the time they finished talking, it was already 8pm. Xiao Yu knew that his time is finishing soon. Hence, he made a small request to Guigui.
“Gui, can I take a picture with you?” Xiao Yu asked randomly.
“Sure, why not?” Guigui replied without hesitation.
The moment the camera clicked, the pictures came out; Xiao Yu’s hand slowly fell off Guigui’s shoulder, his eyes slowly closed. Guigui turned to look and she immediately called for the doctor.
Guigui held onto Xiao Yu’s hand and chided him, “You asked me to wait for you, and now, I’m waiting for you, you cannot leave me alone. You can’t.”
The doctor arrived and tried to revive him, but it was too late, he has left Guigui already. The doctor came out and shook his head. After hearing the news, Guigui then fell to her knees and cry uncontrollably, Xiao Yu’s mother arrived and pass Guigui an envelope that Xiao Yu had remind her to give to Guigui once he left the world. In the envelope is a letter as while as a ring with a necklace.
To: Guigui
By the time you read this letter, I’ve already left the world. Sorry for lying to you about my illness, the first time I saw you, I was also here to receive treatment. Thanks for the happy time you have given me, even though it was short it was really happy for me. The time when you wanted to go back to Taiwan, I wanted so much to follow you but my illness doesn’t allow me to follow you. I really miss you so much when you are in Taiwan. Lastly, I’ll love you forever.
Xiao Yu
Guigui hold onto the letter and cry, her heart shattered into a million pieces. When everything was done, she decided it’s time to return to Taiwan. The moment she reached her school, Ya Tou asked her about how things are going on between Xiao Yu and her.
“He had left me already.” Guigui mumbled holding back her tears.
“What do you mean?” Ya Tou asked with her face full of confusion.
“He lost the battle with cancer.” Guigui replied and broke down immediately.
When school ends, Guigui head back home and recall the time she had with Xiao Yu. She then went down to the pub to down her sorrows. Aaron was there too at the time Guigui is in the pub. All along, he was looking at Guigui to prevent any guys from taking advantage of her. Guigui was so drunk that she had problem walking; Aaron walked towards her and helped her.
“What happen?” Aaron asked Guigui who is drunk.
“He asked me to wait for him, and I waited, but he left me. He left me.” Guigui mumbled.
“What! I’ll call him and scold him.” Aaron replied angrily.
“It’s too late, he’s already dead.” Guigui said tears flowing down her face.
Aaron knew about the news and comforted her. He drove her back home and put a towel over her head to minimise the headache. He looked closely at her features, he stroke her hair down her face. Then he noticed the ring and necklace, beside her bed is a photograph she took with Xiao Yu.
The next morning, Guigui woke up with a hangover; she headed to school and found a bottle of ginger tea on her table. She looked around to see who left the bottle of ginger tea on her table.
“Gui, don’t be sad about Xiao Yu’s case already.” Ya Tou tried to cheer her up.
But upon hearing the name, ‘Xiao Yu’, Guigui’s tears became stubborn again. She tried to hold back her tears but it just continue pouring down. After much cheering up, Guigui stopped crying.
“Xiao Yu won’t be happy to see me cry. He wants me to move on, and I shall move on.” Guigui said confidently.
