December 3, 2008

It’s just a few days more before Christmas, the most awaited celebration of every year-end spent and he still has not yet told her what he needed to tell her. He hasn’t told her yet that he’ll be leaving exactly on the 26th of December, just after Christmas to have a business trip in America. He was thinking twice whether to tell it or not. Although he knew that in one way or another, he’d have to tell her or he’ll be forever guilty just by living her behind without any permission of doing so.

“Elle…” He tried to grab his girlfriend’s attention, who is happily hanging decorations on her Christmas tree. A sad expression formed on his face. He sure is nervous, only that he didn’t make it that obvious.

“Hm? Are you calling for me?” She spun herself around, only to turn upon her handsome and one and only boyfriend, Wu Chun.

Their relationship sure is strong, for the end of the year is their 3rd year anniversary. Yes, they met on New Year’s Eve, the ambience so romantic with the fireworks spouting up the sky as he confessed.

She examined his features as she missed doing so and noticed the sad look on his face. To try and prevent it, she thought of a way and took in Chun’s supple cheeks onto her palms, gently caressing it. Seeing that it didn’t work out, she pinched his left cheek with her right hand and pouted right after she smirked just because of his glum facial expression.

“Don’t give me that look.” Chun warned, cupped her cheeks and closed the gap between his and her lips as he smoothed her short-cropped, silky black hair. They stood like that for about a minute or so, making the both of them senseless.

To her surprise, a teardrop tickled her left cheek and noticed that it came from his eyes. Even then, it didn’t stop her nor stopped the both of them from the kissing session, but sooner or later; she knew that she should ask him what was wrong or what might be bothering the hell inside of him.

When Ella knew that it was time to break the kiss, time to talk whatever over, for she didn’t want him acting so emotional this way, she stopped it abruptly and interlocked their eyes for a minute before speaking up. She wanted him to be happy. After all, she’d rather die than see him cry. Boys don’t cry easily though, right?

“Chun, know what?” She asked him with a worried look on her bright face, trying to be optimistic at the same time.

“What?” Chun, as if he didn’t know that she’s noticed, acted dumb.

Ella heaved out a sigh, before opening her mouth to speak up, “I know something’s wrong and you wouldn’t want to tell me, because of this and that…” Ella stopped her sentence midway and wrapped her arms around his waist, “Sooner or later though, you’d have to tell me, one way or another.” She hooted, trying to make him guilty that he was hiding something from her as she slowly broke free from the hug and took a seat on the cushions.

“You know that since we ever went out together, dated, kissed and confessed our love to each other, I never left you.” He began, sending her to rise up a brow at him as if he was speaking Alien language for she couldn’t understand why he’s saying all those nonsense conversational material topics.

He took a sit beside her and leaned his head on her shoulders, while she jerked a little to the right to make space for him and make their position comfortable. “I know that.” She looked confused, yet she went with the flow.

“Oh, forget it!” He said in exclamation with his tone louder than usual as he jumped from his seat and walked towards her kitchen, leaving her dumbfounded and confused, sitting on the living room couch.

Yes, it’s what he wants to do most. Whenever he’d be feeling angry, anxious or problematic, he’ll hang around her dining table and check out her refrigerator once in a while, as if it’ll refill once he’s finished everything up and vent his anger out.

On the other hand, she lifted her weight from the seat and followed behind him.

She looked like she was hoping for something, yet she didn’t know how to start asking him. She was hoping that he’d tell her just everything about his problem. After all, since the start of their relationship, they opened up quite a lot, revealing about their past and plans for the future—for the both of them, once the time comes that it’s time for them to build a family.
