Chapter 1
Guard up
It's a sunny afternoon on a Monday. In a mansion gated near the woods, a lady stands in front of her son getting ready to scold at him for coming home from school with a black eye. "When will you stop fighting in school, Chun?"
Her son, Chun, brushes his shoulder length hair with he's right hand, refuse to respond. A male in suit looks at he's mother and said, "Madam, please calm down, you’re blood pressure." He leads toward her. "Sir Chun was just playing basketball then the basketball accidentally hit him in his eye."
"Calvin," She points her index finger at Chun’s bruised left eye. "That doesn’t look an accident made by a basketball."
"Baseball?" Calvin said without looking at her.
She raised her left eyebrow and looks at Calvin. "You’re his bodyguard why didn’t you run in front of him and protect him then?"
"Uhh….." Calvin looks down and rubs the back of his neck.

"Ella, dear, it’s time for breakfast." A maid said as she puts a tray of food beside a bed which lays a big human figure on it. A hand waves her for the maid to go away and slides back under the covers. The maid bows and walks toward the door. "How can she act like this when her mom is suffering in pain in the other room?" The maid sighs and walks out of the door and closes it.
Ella wipes the tears off her cheeks under the covers. Hoping the cover would cover her forever and she would not have to face her mother’s death.

Mrs. Wu slams her phone on the receiver in her office. "Calvin, get in here." She said with a sharp tone in her voice.
Calvin walks in and bows. "Madam…"
"My blood pressure, I know." She said with the back og her chair facing him.
"What, what can I do for you?" He said with a stutter.
"For now you can no longer be my son’s bodyguard."
He goes into shock. "WHAT? WHY? Madam…"
She turns to him not showing any remorse. "Do you realize how many times my son has come home with bruises on his body? if so, you should know why I’m doing this. You’re he’s body guard, yet you are not doing your job."
He looks up and then up at her. "But…"
"I've made my decision. You're fired." Calvin nods and turns around walks out of the office.

A weeks later, Ella visits her mom’s grave. She bends down and traces her fingers on the stone and stands up. She walks back toward the car.

When she arrived home, she saw couple of workers taking out furniture from the house. The maid spots her and called out her name. She walks toward the maid. "What the hell happened?" She said with a unbelievable expression on her face.
"It’s your dad…" The maid pulled her aside. "He owes people money." She whispers to Ella.
"What…I don’t understand. We’re….." She said with sense of denial.
"I’m sorry to say this. But your dad’s company has gone bankrupt. He had to borrow money in order to pay for everything." The maid said with sadness in her voice.
Pissed off she said, "From WHOM? That irresponsible-"
She turns toward the house. Her maid stops her from entering. “Master isn’t home. The gang that he borrowed money from took him.”
"Do you know where the hell they went?” She asked the maid.
The maid shook her head. “But we should receive a call from them soon." A worker carried phone and put in the uploading truck. "If we will have one….."
"That’s what they think.” Ella storms into the house and screams. "STOP"
A worker looks at her. “Sorry ma’am. This is our job."
"I am aware of that…but can you leave a phone here?" Ella laughs nervously.

"Mr. Wu, what do you want us to do with him?" A guard said with a grin on his face as he holds a bat.
"Nothing yet, we still have to call he’s daughter." Mr. Wu said calmly.
"She doesn’t have any money." Ella’s dad said.
"How old is she? 14? My gang will have some fun with her then." Mr. Wu said then smirks.
Ella's dad leans forward and said, "If you lay one……" The guard hits him with a bat before he can say anything else.

Ella started dozing off as she sits on the ground then someone shakes her. "Ella, dear." The maid patted her on the shoulder to make her into focus.
"Huh?" Ella looks up at the maid.
"I’m going now. You take care of yourself." The maid said as she picks up her suitcase. Ella nods. "Wish you the best of luck in everything." Ella nods as she watches the maid walk out of the mansion.

An hour later, Ella lies on the ground sleeping then she was wake up with a ring from the only phone in the mansion. "Hello......" She answers with a sleepy tone.
"Is this Miss Chen?" A male voice said.
"Yes, who the hell are you?" She replied.
The voice coughs and said, "I assume that the old hag told you about us kidnapping your dad."
Ella stands up instantly with the receiver in her right ear. "Where is he?"
"Don’t worry he’s safe." He teased.
She steps forward dragging the phone and the line with her and said, "What do you want?"
"Money of course but since you don’t have any. Come over so we can talk about it."
"Where?" As the guard gives her directions of where she needs to go, she nods and told him she got it.

Ella pauses and catches her breath as she runs toward a back of a business building. "Oh my god, did this place have to be in the opposite side of the town?" She sighs and walks toward the backdoor.
A guard watches her and stops her from entering and said, "How may I help you?"
"Stirfry." She said it like it was a password.
"Here you go, Miss Chen." He said then opens the door for her. After she walked in, the guard closes the door. "Hey, who turned off the lights?" She looks around and heard a clicking sound. She continue turning around but couldn’t find anything. The clicking starts coming toward her then a bat aims at her. In defense, she blocks it with her right arm. "What the hell?"

Mrs. Wu was in the spa getting a massage when her guard runs in and whispers something in her ear. She sits up quickly with her towel around her body. "Not again! Why does he keep on getting into fights?" She sighs, steps off the bed and rushes out of the room.

Ella was continued getting hit by a man with a bat. "Stop that, I thought you wanted to talk?"
"We are, but our boss is in a meeting so, we get to have fun with you until then." He attacks her again with the bat. She dodges it.

Mrs. Wu runs into toward the hospital room and turns toward the bodyguard next to the door. "How is he?" she said to him.
"It’s in bad shape. He’s whole face is……" The bodyguard replied drifted off in guilt.
"NO NOT HE’S PRETTY FACE!" She runs in with a shock and she saw her son lying on the hospital bed.
Chun slowly tries to open his eyes. "Mother…"
"Chun, don’t worry mother is here." She said to him as she touches his band aided right cheek. She turns to the guard. "WHAT HAPPENED?"
"A group of teens beat him up and pushed him off the stairs……" Yet again, sound of guilt.
She stands up in anger. "What the hell am I paying you for? You have a black belt in karate for goodness sake!" The guard looks away not daring to look at her expression. "AH! USELESS! GET OUT!" The guard walks out of the room with their head still down. She sits back down and looks at her wounded son. "It’s ok. Mother is here. Everything is going to be ok."

"Boss, she's kicking our ass. I managed to get away from her. What should we do? Give her father back to her?" A guard said on his cell phone trying to capture he's breath.
"What are you stupid? Of course not!" Mr. Wu said. He saw a blink on his phone. "I'll get back to you." He hangs up and presses the button to the other line.
"My love, our son is in the hospital. Why aren't you here?" His wife said with a worried tone in her voice.
"I'm at work." He said calmly.
"Yes, I know but our son is in a bad condition." She said still worried.
"He's always in a bad condition." He said as if he doesn't care.
"Yes..but this time...he's face..." She drifted off.
"Good maybe we can give in surgery so he can look like a male!" He said.
"NOO!!" She yelled.
"It's your fault that you kept spoiling him."
"I know love, but I fired he's new bodyguard...he wasn't doing he's job......"
Mr. Wu looks up, thinks and grins and said, "Don't worry, I'll handle it."
"But...."
"I said, I'll handle it. See you at dinner." He hangs up and dials a number.
"Yes boss?" A male voice said.
"I found out how she can pay for her dad's debt." He said then he grins.
