The man steps into the room where the party was being held. He glances just across the room to find Nicholas chatting away with another girl. Looking over his shoulder, Nicholas spots him and calls him over.
"Edison!" Nicholas exclaimed. "So glad you could come! This is Mei. Mei, my cousin, Edison."
"Nice to meet you, Edison." the girl said in a cheery tone. She seems to be no older than a freshman. "Nick was just talking about you."
"Was he now?" Edison said as he turned to Nicholas with a confused look. "So how old are you Mei?"
"I'm fifteen." Mei replied.

"Here, Edison. This is for you." Mei said as she handed Edison a small black box. "Happy Birthday."
"Umm, thanks, Mei." Edison opened the box and said, "Wow, a new watch!"
"I hope you like it." Mei was slightly blushing.
Mike, Mei's older brother, steps into the room, surprised to see his younger sister standing within the room. She wasn't supposed to be here, she didn't notice that half fo the people in the room are there to fight with him. "Mei, you're not supposed to be here! Go home!"
"But, big brother, I just-" Mei was cut off by Mike's shouts.
"Do as I say and go home!" Mike shouted as he pulled Mei away from Edison and nearly pushes her out the door.
"Mike, you've gone a little too far!" Edison says to the angered older brother. He chased after Mei as she was about to leave the room in tears. He didn't want her to go. He didn't want her to leave. If this was the chance to say what he had in his heart, he wanted to take it. "Mei, wait!"
"Leave me alone, Ed." Mei said quietly.
"Mei, you are the only person who has ever made me feel this way." Edison recited from the bottom of his heart. "I don't want you to be alone anymore. For once, I've learned love. And I learned through you. Please, stay with me."
Mei eventually turned to him, streams of salted tears running down her cheeks. "Of course I'll stay with you." she quietly said as she cried in my arms.

Edison was getting frustrated. Mei was no where to be found. She wasn't at home nor was she at any of her friends houses. Edison looked at his phone to realize he missed a call and decided to call back. This time, it was Mei who picked up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Mei? What's going on?" Edison asked.
"I'm sorry, Edison." He could tell Mei was trying hard not to cry. "I'm really sorry. But we can't see each other anymore."
"Mei, wait-" But a long tone only answered him.

"Hi, Ed." Mei said as she walked up to him.
"Mei, what's this about? What's going on?" Edison asked.
Mei turned away. "I called you to come see me here tonight because...because..."
"Because what?" questioned Edison.
Only a shattered breathing came from Mei as she tried to look into his eyes. "I want to break up with you."
Edison was stunned by her words. "Break up?! Why?! I did everything just to make you happy! I wanted to have a family with you! And now you want to leave me?! Why, Mei?!"
Mei really wished she hadn't said it to him. But what was she to do? If she stayed with him, he would only get hurt. It was too late for her now. All she can do is hope that she can get away from the person trying to break the two apart. Feeling the pain flood into her heart, she turned and started to walk away.
"Mei! Hold on! We're not through yet!" Edison shouted as he walked after her.
Mei didn't stop to turn to him as she continued to walk across the dark street. "You're not, but I am." she whispered.
Edison reached out for her, and suddenly, his whole world went black. Mei could only hear the honking of the car as she turned around to find Edison lying there, motionless. All she could do is let out a scream, call out his name, and fall to her knees at the corner on the other side of the street.

Edison wakes up to a room of blinding white light. Looking around, he could see Nicholas, Charlene, Jay, Jolin, Hebe, and Jun Jie surrounding him. He quickly sat up and realized....He had all his memory back! From the first time he met Mei to the time he got hit by the car, it was all back! But looking around again, Edison finds that Gillian isn't there.
"Where's Gillian?" Edison asked.
Charlene was the first to speak. "Mei-I mean-Gillian is at my house. She didn't want to come."
Edison jumped out of the hospital bed. "Is she still there?"
"I think she is." Charlene said. "Here, your clothes."
Edison grabbed the clothes, dressed quickly, and darted out the hospital doors. He ran down every single street, made few quick turns, and never stopped hoping that Gillian was still in that house even though it was across town. Edison wanted, now more than ever, to talk to her, tell her that he still loved her no matter what had happened in the past. He ran up to Charlene's house and opened the unlocked door.
"Gillian!" Edison shouted as he stepped in, breathing harder than he could ever imagine. But no answer came to him. "Gillian!"
He ran into the guest room where he believed Gillian was staying. But to his surprise, no one was there. The bed was made neatly as if no one had bothered to sleep there. He opened the closet door to find that there were no clothes hung. Then he looked on the bedside table. There, laying as if it had been waiting for him a long time, was a small pink book.
Edison walked over to it. "Dear Diary," the front cover said. In the middle of it was a picture, torn down the middle just as the picture on his diary had. The person in it..was Mei herself. Gillian herself. Writtin on the bottom of the cover, in her handwriting, was "Now do you believe me?" Other than the book, there was no longer any trace of her, not within this house. Edison walked over to the bedroom window, looking out into the street.
"Mei Gillian Chung," Edison whispered, "why did you leave me again?"
