Edison’s P.O.V
‘What no one asked you to dance?’ she pretended to be outraged.
‘Plenty,’ he nodded. ‘Don’t want to.’
‘Not even with me?’ she pouted.
‘No-uh!’ Charlene stood up to leave but he grabbed her arm making her fall back on the chair. ‘I don’t dance,’ he explained.
‘Oh!’ he saw her looking at something with a mischief smile. He looked to see what she was looking at. He saw Gillian eyeing a guy that Charlene last danced with.
‘Wanna help me match them up?’ she asked excitedly.
‘No thanks! You shouldn’t meddle with other peoples business.’
‘Ah! You’re no fun,’ she quickly regretted saying that. He didn’t seem to be offended. She changed the subject. ‘So, tell me how did you meet the other three?’
‘Not after you finish what Nicholas was going on about before!’
‘It’s nothing. I had a sore throat that week. I had too much of the sore throat fluid that I ended up high. I stripped dance in front of the interviewer when he said, I thought he said, dance for me and you’ll get the job. If Nicholas wasn’t there I would have took off all my clothes!’ she took a deep breath. He was in stitches by then. ‘Now, did you meet them at one of their clubs?’ he sighed as her knew she won’t let him go.
‘No,’ he stopped but then carried on as she was waiting. ‘We met four years ago in one of the HK mall. I was really those badass guys before. I was taking the piss out of some security guys while at the other end Nicholas, Stephen and Sam were flirting with some gals.’ Charlene snorted. ‘Anyways, after minutes of flirting they end up being chased by the gals boyfriends.’
‘But why were you taking the piss out of the security guys?’
‘I was dared by my friends. I had to make the security guys chase me. After saying summa ‘bout their mother I was finally being chased by them.’ This got her excited. She leaned in to hear. ‘We met up half way we ended up running together and being chased by both the boyfriends and the security guys. Eventually we lost them. We were huddled in one corner laughing so much that our stomach hurt. After all the chasing Stephen’s stomach rumbled. We grabbed lunch and that was the beginning of our relationship,’ he was dazed reminiscing. ‘
‘Did you have to say it like that!’ she complained. ‘You should have gave me the all details.’
Nicholas, Stephen and Sam came and dropped down on the empty chairs. Nicholas sat this time next to Charlene. Stephen and Sam were boasting about themselves to him. He was too busy listening in Nicholas and Charlene conversation.
‘Char, I’m sorry about before,’ Nicholas apologised. ‘Will you forgive me?’ he gave her a puppy look.
Charlene laughed. ‘Aww! Of course. I’m so sorry too!’
‘So when are you coming to one of our clubs?’ this got the other twos attention. They pleaded for her to come.
‘Okay! I’m coming down anyways.’
‘Really?’ they all chorused excitedly including himself.
‘Yeah, got some work to do there.’
‘This is gonna be so cool! I’m gonna make the other guys jealous,’ Stephen excitedly said.
‘No way. I will!’ Sam argued.
‘Its not like she’ll ever go for you!’ Stephen argued back.
‘Guys, if you be like this I won’t step foot in any of your clubs!’ Charlene was irritated. They assured her that they were joking.
Charlene’s P.O.V
Charlene was laughing at Stephen and Sam who were still exaggerating about what they will do when she comes down. Her mobile phone buzzed in her purse.
‘Talk to me,’ she said in a business tone over the phone.
‘I got good news and bad news. Which one first?’ her P.A said.
‘Hold on,’ she said over the phone. ‘Be right back,’ she told the guys and left to the lobby. ‘I’ll have the bad news first.’
‘You are definitely being cheated by one of your employees,’ he said. She thought back at what he was going on about. He was talking about her business in HK. Her business is losing money some how. She hired a detective to find out about it.
‘And the good news?’
‘That no one knows you’re their boss in HK. You can go ahead with your plan.’ Her plan was that she would pretend that she was a small designer and wanting to do business with My Studio. All her companies lets newly small business come and design clothes. It goes up in her boutiques. They contract is only for two months and then the designers are on there own. But all the designers end up having a great business. She is going to be one of those newly designers.
‘Thanks. Call the pilot and say the change of plan. I’m heading for HK tonight.’
‘But what about the business here?’ he protested.
‘You will run it for two months if it takes that long to find the person behind this.’ She hung up before he could moan. He could run the business but he has no confident in himself. She went back to the guys. Sitting down she sighed.
‘What’s wrong?’ Nicholas was the first to ask.
‘I have to leave for HK tonight instead of America,’ she sighed again.
‘You don’t like HK?’ they asked.
‘Of course I do!’ she quickly assured them. ‘The reason I’m going is depressing.’
‘Why?’ they asked but she wasn’t listening. Instead she was looking at the girls from yesterday. The three girls they met in the library. They were picking on Gillian who was about to burst into tears. She excused herself from the table and headed towards Gillian.
‘You okay?’ she said to Gillian when she got to her.
‘Yes,’ Gillian squeaked.
Charlene pretended she just saw the girls. ‘Oh sorry, you got company.’ She gave a small wave at them. ‘We haven’t introduced ourselves yesterday. I’m Charlene Choi and you must be?’
‘Dana Winston,’ the first girl said.
‘Leah Cantrell,’ said the second girl.
‘Gail Montana,’ said the third one. They acted as if she didn’t deserve to know but they were forced to introduce themselves. To her those names sounded familiar.
‘Anyways, as I was saying to your friend,’ Dana snapped her out of her thought. ‘What hideous dress you twins are wearing!’ the three of them gave a cold laugh.
She laughed with them. She abruptly stopped. She took a step closer to them glaring at them. ‘Oh! You think these are hideous, do you?’ she looked at them top to bottom. ‘These hideous dresses are better than yours.’
Leah snorted. ‘Please! Ours is straight from My Studio!’
‘My Studio?’ Gillian squeaked.
‘The one and only!’ Gail took the opportunity since she thought they were scared. ‘Girl, you better recognise we’re better than you!’
‘Us?’ she pretended to be shocked. ‘You mean yourself. Listen here,’ she took a step closer. ‘First of all, we’re not twins,’ she took another step closer. ‘Second, if our dresses are hideous so should yours be ‘coz its from the same place,’ she took another step closer. ‘Thirdly, you won’t get these dresses until next month! And you say yours is better! Those are like 75% off from last month.’
The girls’ jaws dropped. They tried to utter some words but ended up with nothing. They then, head held up high made their way out of the ballroom.
Gillian couldn’t believe what just happened. Her jaws were hanging. Charlene laughed at Gillian’s expression.
‘Omg! You just dissed them!’ Gillian was indeed shocked. ‘And these dresses are they really from My Studio?’
‘Would I lie?’ she raised her eyebrow.
‘No! Omg! This is so cool!’
‘So you really didn’t change after all, huh?’ she joked. She saw that Gillian’s smiled dropped. ‘What’s wrong?’
‘Nothing,’ but Gillian’s voice was far away.
Changing the subject Charlene asked, ‘So I seen ya looking at that guy,’ she nodded towards Shawn.
A smile crept on Gillian’s face. Charlene got excited. ‘This is so cool!’
‘I don’t fancy him!’ Gillian was outraged. Was pretending to be outraged. ‘I just think I know him from somewhere.’
‘Yeah! Yeah! Like I’ll believe that!’
‘Believe what you want!’ came the cocky reply from Gillian.
Charlene looped arms with Gillian dragging her back to the table. Before they got there Charlene whispered, ‘I’m so gonna hook you two up!’ Gillian was shocked but couldn’t say anything since they were now at the table.
