Chapter 26

~The Plan To Help Gillian~

Chapter Twenty-Six ‘

She went down to the café at exactly 4 o’clock. She ordered tea as she waited for Gillian’s arrival. She checked if the small chip that was camouflage with her black scarf that was tied around her neck. She wore blue top, white skirt and blue sandals. Kenny came down few minutes later and sat on the opposite chair.

‘What are you doing here?’ he asked curiously. ‘Don’t you want a lift?’

‘Not today, Hon,’ she tiredly said. ‘Maybe tomorrow coz I’m meeting someone.’ She looked at the door when she heard the bell but it was some couple. She looked back to Kenny who was giving her a questioning look. ‘What?’

‘May I ask if it’s a guy or a girl?’

‘No you may not,’ she replied coolly. ‘Okay, it’s just Gillian.’ She gave up trying to be mysterious quickly.

‘Gillian? Who’s that?’

‘Oh, right! You haven’t met her!’ she exclaimed. ‘Nicholas’s sister.’

‘And who may Nicholas be?’

‘The one you tried to run over…’ she tried to get him to remember.

‘You make that sound bad. It was your idea in the first place.’ A couple from nearby table had heard their conversation and were looking at them oddly. Kenny noticing this yelled out, ‘Should I run you two over as well?’ Charlene laughed and apologized to the now terrified couple but they ended up leaving in a hurry.

‘Aren’t you meant to be gone?’ she asked him.

‘Yes,’ he said after glancing at his watch. ‘Got a date. See ya,’ with that he waved his hands and walked to the door. He opened the door to Gillian, two girls and a guy to enter then left. Let’s get the show on the road, she thought.

She stood up and waved Gillian over who pretended to be shocked to see her. Gillian made her way over with her so-called friends.

‘Hey, what are you doing here?’ Charlene said as she hugged Gillian. She then looked at the three so-called friends. ‘Are these your friends?’ she smiled bitterly at them. Stay cool, she said to herself. No violence, remember? No violence. She took a deep breath as she calmed herself down.

‘These are MaiLin Lang, Alice Chan and this is…’ Gillian was introducing the girls but the guy stopped her.

‘I’m Leon Koo,’ he held out his hand for Charlene. She forced herself to take his but was sick in the inside as he turned her hand and kissed the back of her hand. She took her hand away when he looked up in her eyes. She was going to do sick in any minute she knew that. She took a mental note to scrub her hand. Or better yet chop it off, she thought.

‘Hello,’ she forced the words out nicely. ‘Why don’t you guys join me for a drink?’ she waved at her table. They eagerly accepted. They were seated around the table. ‘Tell me how long have you been friends?’

‘Two years,’ MaiLin answered. Charlene nodded her head.

‘What do you do?’ Leon huskily said.

‘I’m a small time fashion designer that is trying to get big,’ she plainly explained. She thought this might get him to stop flirting with her but he seemed to be amused by this.

‘Please excuse me,’ Gillian stood up. ‘I’ll be back from the rest room.’

None of her so-called friends were bothered. Before she went Gillian gave her a stern look. It was a code saying its-up-to-you. Charlene tucked her fringe. In doing that she gave her a signal ‘ok’ without making it obvious. Gillian made her way to the toilet. Charlene’s attention was on the three sitting opposite her. She smiled at them.

‘Did anyone ever say that you have mesmerizing eyes?’ Leon dreamily asked.

‘No,’ she replied but as well thinking in disgust, oh pur-lease! How lame! ‘What a charmer you are! Gillian talks fondly of you.’

He was shocked by the look on his face. ‘Really?’ he said couple of minutes later.

‘Yes,’ she quietly said with a force of flirtation. ‘What a handsome guy you are. Who wouldn’t talk about you?’

‘Were going to this early party. Would you like to join us?’ Alice asked.

‘Please say you will,’ MaiLin pleaded.

‘I don’t know…’ Charlene pretended to be doubtful.

‘It will be fun,’ Leon chipped in.

‘Okay then. If you insist,’ she put on a smile.

‘Let’s go then,’ Alice said and got up followed by the other two.

‘What about Gillian?’ she asked naively.

‘She’ll come,’ Leon quickly explained. ‘We’re going first and she’ll follow.’

Acting dumb she agreed and went with them. She got in their car and Leon drove to the deserted railway station as Gillian had said they took her. She knew what she was expecting.

‘Where is the party?’ she asked. There was not a soul around.

‘Oh, there’s no party,’ Leon said as he walked towards her. They were couple of distance apar

‘What do you mean?’ she pretended to be scared.

‘Well, I don’t want anyone to disturb us, baby,’ Leon walked more closed.

She backed away. She looked at MaiLin and Alice who were now kissing. She felt sick. She looked away with disgust. Gillian was right.

‘Forget them,’ he said as he saw her looking at them. ‘Come here.’

‘No,’ she shrieked. ‘Does Gillian know about this? How you guys are like?’

‘Of course she does,’ he replied in a matter-of-factly.

MaiLin and Alice stopped and came and stood either side of Leon wrapping their arm around him. Now she was really going to be sick. The girls were so stupid they told her everything they do and did with Gillian. Leon also joined in. As she got all the information she needed she smiled with satisfaction. Leon came towards her to grab her but she got hold of his hand and twisted it. She kicked his side with force. It made him scream in agony. She rotated around so their back was together, she kicked both his knee with the head of her feet. He fell on the ground. She went around to stand in front of him. She grabbed his hair and yanked it back.

‘You guys pissed me off! And you don’t want to do that!’ she then using her knee hit his face. He automatically covered his nose that was bleeding. She turned to the screaming girls. They tried to run but she grabbed their hair. ‘You two give lesbians bad names, you know that?’ with that she banged their heads together. No sooner when they fell on the ground Gillian came in view with two uniformed officers in tow.

Gillian ran up to her and hugged her tightly. She thanked her many times as the officers cuffed the three. The officers stood before them. Gillian pulled away and looked at them. Taking the small tape out of her pocket that connected with the wireless chip she handed it to one of the officers. They took it and went off with the three while reminding them that they need to come to the court case. Charlene agreed for both of them as Gillian wasn’t sure.

‘Come on. Let’s go home now,’ Charlene linked arms with Gillian and dragged her to the waiting taxi.

In the taxi Gillian nervously asked, ‘Will you tell my brother?’

‘No,’ Charlene said. Gillian breathes of relief. ‘I won’t but you’ll have to,’ she added. Gillian went pale.

‘Do… do I have to?’

‘Yes. I’m really sorry but he has to know.’ Gillian nodded her head understanding. The taxi dropped Gillian off to her home. The taxi dropped her off outside her apartment where she quickly went inside to go for a long cold shower.
