Mean while in HK, Edison wasn’t fortunate. He missed Charlene and Daisy was annoying him by phoning him every ten minutes in the weekend. He was glad that he was sitting in his office desk. His weekend was hell for him. Charlene hadn’t come back. She was staying for another few days. She hasn’t still explained why she took Shawn with her. He trusted her but he was curious as well. Gillian in the other was sad as well. She thought Shawn went off with Charlene. She was another one who annoyed him. When he bumped into her once she tried to convince him that Charlene was cheating on him. He tried to tell her otherwise but there was no point. It was like talking to a rock.
‘Mr. Chen?’ he was brought out of his thought with his secretary’s voice. He didn’t notice he came in at all. Damn, he missed her!
‘Yes, Steve?’ he asked a little frustrated.
‘I tried buzzing you to let you know that you have a phone call but you seem to be not in this world,’ Steven joked hoping he could lighten up his boss’s mood but failed miserably.
‘Who is it?’ he said tonelessly. Steven wondered what gotten into him this morning. He was over the moon last week with a goofy smile on his face all the time.
‘Miss Lin,’ he said.
‘Tell her I’m in a meeting and I don’t want to take any of her calls.’ He dismissed Steven waving his hand then with that he went back to his work. Well he tried to work but his mind kept going back to Charlene. Every little thing made him think of her. Like for example ‘phone call’. The way they would be on the phone while pretended to work talked about God knows what they chatted about for hours! But they didn’t care as long as they could hear each other’s voices.
He didn’t ever feel this before. He never missed anyone as much as Charlene. Was this love? He thought. He didn’t know where that came from. He couldn’t love her. It was too soon. He just came into the relationship with her couple of weeks ago. A month hasn’t even gone! Frustrated that he didn’t know anything about relationships he banged his head on the table.
Kenny kept his ears high up listening to a conversation that got his full attention. He was in the café downstairs sipping on his cup of coffee that afternoon. He didn’t need to be in the office for another ten minutes. He was hearing three models gossiping. They were from the top floor. The conversation they were talking was about Daisy. Apparently by the models Daisy is in a mission trying to snatch Edison back since Charlene had gone with a guy.
‘Edison is so gorgeous. No wonder Daisy wants him back. He is on most the magazine and he looks so hot…’ one of the models said.
‘If you think his gorgeous on the magazine, Mandy, you should see him face to face!’ the second model cut the first model off.
‘Yeah, he is H.O.T.T hot!’ the third one chipped in. H.O.T.T? What does that stand for? He thought, confused. But the way they were excited about it probably meant way hotter than hot.
‘How did you two see him?’ Mandy whined.
‘He comes to pick Charlene up. Kristin and me always see him when we are going to lunch. She is so lucky!’ said the second model said. They all sighed. Come on, girls! Get to Daisy bit! He silently pleaded at the girls.
As if reading his mind Kristin said, ‘She shouldn’t have gone off with another guy coz Daisy is determined to get Edison. She kept calling him all morning! Right Tara?’
‘Yeah, but too bad he won’t answer her calls,’ the second model, Tara replied.
‘I know something you two don’t!’ Mandy cried out. The other two were squealing excitedly wanting to know more gossip.
What? He wanted to scream at them. They were so annoying. He wanted this conversation over and done with. The three of them put their heads together so Mandy can whisper. He got near them without them knowing wanting to hear as well.
‘Edison has a business dinner at Daniels’ place and she’s going to be there,’ Mandy whispered. ‘She’s going to spike his drink.’
The other two pulled back gasping, ‘No!’
‘Yes!’ she motioned them to lean in since she never finished. ‘And guess why?’ they looked at her without a clue. ‘She’s doing number three in the red rule book.’ They gasped again but louder making people look their way. Wait a minute what does ‘number three’ mean? What red rulebook? He was tempted to tell those exactly that but they had already left the table and going back to work.
Oh no! Whatever that ‘number three’ mean meant trouble. What could he do? How could he stop this? He had to tell Charlene! But it will be too late for her to come back and stop Daisy. He needed to talk to someone! The girls came in his mind.
He dashed out of the café and into an elevator to the studio. He had to tell them. Vaness was in the elevator as well. He had just come back from his lunch.
‘Hey,’ Vaness said oddly thinking why he was impatient.
‘What does number three from the red rule book mean?’ he demanded.
‘How would I know?’ Vaness shrugged his shoulder, irritated that he was demanding. ‘And anyways it’s the first I heard!’
‘I was listening to three models gossiping…’
‘Omg! Are you really gay?’ Vaness exclaimed. ‘Man, I thought Charlene was kidding!’
‘No!’ Kenny shrieked. ‘The conversation caught my attention.’
‘Yeah, yeah,’ Vaness muttered backing away from him.
Kenny noticed that and was outraged. ‘Stop it and hear me out! First of all I am not gay! The reason the conversation got to me is because it was about Daisy who is by the way trying to snatch Edison back.’
‘What do you mean?’ Vaness was interested now.
‘The girls were saying something that she will spike his drink and do number three in the red rule book.’
‘Is this some sort of rulebook for women? You know us guys having black book they probably have a red one.’ Vaness frowned thinking had he put two and two together.
‘Well I’m on my way to the girls.’
‘I’ll come with you…’ Vaness let the sentence trail off when the doors opened to reveal Daisy. She had a broad smile on her face. They quickly got out of the elevator and rushed over to the girls who were in a photo shoot.
‘Ruby!’ Kenny called her name.
She was posing for her photo. She stopped and looked at her fiancé with a frown. ‘Kenny! What are you doing here? I’m working!’
‘I know but this is important!’ he replied.
‘What is important?’ Vic the photographer demanded angrily.
‘Sorry, mate but this is important,’ Vaness said taping his shoulder then made his way to the group.
‘Daisy is out to get Edison tonight!’ Kenny exclaimed.
‘No!’ the girls gasped.
‘Yes,’ Vaness said.
‘Yeah, and I heard that she will do number three out of the red rule book.’ He was actually curious what this red rulebook was. ‘What is a red rule book?’
The girls hesitated to answer. They looked at each other then nodded. ‘Red rule book is actually called how to seduce a guy into bed,’ Cecilia answered, uncomfortable.
‘Not all women use it,’ Vicki said.
‘Only half the population,’ Miriam carried on. Then, ‘or maybe more,’ she thought if she was right.
‘So what does it mean?’ Vic asked. They all turned to him surprised that he was listening into the conversation plus that he was interested. ‘What? I don’t like Daisy,’ he defended himself.
‘Whatever!’ Kenny cut in. ‘Just tell us what rule number three is!’
‘No one uses this rule I assure you,’ Barbie blurted out.
‘Only someone like Daisy will,’ muttered Rain.
The guys gave them a stern look. Which made Ruby answer rapidly, ‘Spike the guys’ drink and seduce him to bed.’
The guys were quiet for few minutes. Kenny broke the silence. ‘We have to stop her before she does,’ he had made up his mind. Charlene was a great friend of his and she would have helped him if anything like this happens to him.
‘I’ll help you,’ Ruby said. Next thing he knew everyone wanted to help as well. If Charlene was here she would have seen how great friends she has.
‘Count me in,’ again everyone looked at Vic, shocked that he wanted to help as well. He shrugged his shoulder. They all bowed their heads together including Vic planning the evening.
