‘Do you remember the day when you said if I loved you?’ Edison asked.
She nodded, not trusting her voice. Her eyes were glued at him. She gently moved Leo away and stepped forward. He too stepped closer.
‘Do you still remember the day you said for me to make up a poem?’
She nodded again, gulping.
‘I wrote you a poem,’ he said. ‘I kept asking myself why I loved you and came up with three poems. I know you asked for one but I love you three times more now than before. So I wrote three to show how mush I really love you.’ He held out a piece of paper. He unfolded it and began.
‘You ask me if I love you,
and I ask myself how to begin
to share with you
the feelings in my heart.
You inspire in me a love so deep
words cannot describe it,
so powerful that it overwhelms
my every thought.
You ask me if I love you,
and I wish there were a way
you could just see into my soul
and find the depth of passion,
tenderness, and love

than anyone or anything else.

and I look into the magic
of your eyes and promise,
"Yes I love you...
I always will".’
He paused to look at her. Tears were sliding down her cheeks. ‘Would you like me to carry on?’
She nodded. So did everyone else in the room. They were all into the whole romantic scene. But neither Edison nor Charlene was looking at anyone but each other. He didn’t bother looking back at the paper. He looked straight in her eyes and carried on.
‘Loving you feels so good
For all the joy you bring to me,
Means that every moment that we share
Unfolds just beautifully!
For life took on new meaning
The day that I met you
And sometimes I think I’m dreaming
For I may scarce believe it’s true.’
He paused again because she was crying loudly. ‘If this is upsetting you I’m not going to carry on,’ he said. ‘I’ve told you before that every tears you shed breaks my heart into pieces.’
‘And I’ve told you before that I cry out of happiness,’ she whispered. ‘Please finish it before I really get upset.’
He nodded. He was happy inside that she wasn’t angry with him anymore.
‘I love you because
When I think about the reasons
Why I love you the way I do,
I know within my heart
It’s because there’s no one like you.
You can always make me laugh,
And I feel how much you care
For you always show such tenderness
In everything we share.’
Silence stretched through out the room. Only crying could be heard. Not only was Charlene crying, but the entire females. The males were hiding their tears. No one spoke.
Edison cleared his throat. He too was in tears but he was proud of it. ‘I have two more question.’
‘Yes?’ she whispered.
‘Do you forgive me?’
She bit her lips stopping herself from smiling. ‘I don’t know.’
‘I guessed you might say that,’ he said.
She raised her eyebrow, interested and amused.
‘Do you remember what you promised me if I make up a poem for you?’ he grinned wickedly.
She couldn’t stop her smile from forming on her face. ‘A promise is a promise,’ she grinned. ‘It would be wrong to break my promise. And I just can’t go through the guilt.’
‘I’m having difficulty, just staring at you, remembering what you promised,’ he scratched his head.
Everyone was smiling at them for their cuteness.
‘I promised to kiss you for a full five minute, not a second more or a second less,’ she said. ‘But that doesn’t mean if I forgave you or not,’ she added.
‘I know,’ he laughed. He strode over to her and pulled her into his arm. ‘We have the rest of our lives for you to forgive me. But don’t worry, baby, I’m going to try and get you to.’
‘Are we going to talk all day?’ she asked, in a fake annoyance.
‘Honey, we are going to do more than that,’ he said. Then he took her mouth and claimed her promise.
Cheers and clapping were heard around them but they were too busy in their passionate kiss to realize.
‘They are so romantic!’ Cecilia cried.
‘I can’t believe you wanted me to go to our honeymoon and miss this,’ Joey accused Nicholas.
Nicholas stared at her. ‘Are you saying you rather be here than be on our honeymoon with me?’
‘Yes,’ she cried. Nicholas gasped. He didn’t bother saying anymore.
‘He is so romantic,’ Gillian said.
‘You hated him before,’ Shawn pointed out.
‘How could you say something like that!’ Gillian scolded him. Shawn quickly backed away. ‘Why would I say something like that!’
Both Nicholas and Shawn looked at each other as in implying what had they gotten themselves into.
‘Men can get so jealous some times,’ Ruby said.
‘Yeah, why would they be jealous for, anyways?’ Barbie asked.
All the guys wished they didn’t come here.
‘I bet Edison’s a good kisser,’ Vicki said. They were watching them still kissing.
‘And he’s such a hunk,’ Bernice said. They turned in shock to see her and Vic standing behind them. No one had notice that they had sneaked in.
The women sighed heavily. ‘Yeah,’ they said in unison.
‘And they say why we’re always jealous,’ Kenny muttered.
‘I think our girls don’t love us,’ Vanness grunted.
The girls then realized how they were acting. And automatically kissed their partner. Bernice looked from each couple to another and then at Leo who was looking at her. She walked over to him and kissed him. Everyone else were kissing why can’t she? She thought. Leo was shocked at first but then he was kissing her back. Vic took the opportunity to take pictures.
‘This is going to be great shots,’ he said to himself. ‘This is also going to be memorable.’
It has been more than five minutes but no one cared. The reporters were amused and loved the entertainment. It wasn’t everyday they get to see a real life romantic scene. And they knew they had the biggest news. This news will be going on for weeks. And they knew they would be the greatest couple broadcast on air.
Charlene and Edison broke apart. And so did the others. They were all flushed. ‘Does that mean the wedding’s still on?’ he asked.
‘I didn’t cancel it, did you?’ she frowned.
He laughed. ‘No. This is another reason.’
‘Another reason, what?’ she asked confused.
‘Why I love you.’
‘You know I forgave you right?’ she said all of a sudden. She wanted this to be cleared before they shared their new life together.
He was taken back for how easily she forgave him. ‘Really? Why?’
‘Because I love you.’
He kissed her again. This is just like a happily ever after story, he thought.
‘Because I love you,’ he repeated.
The reporters then crowded around them. They asked question after question. ‘When are you two planning to get married?’ ‘Do you think the relationship will last?’ ‘How did you two met?’ ‘How much do you love her?’
Both of them in unison said, ‘no comments,’ then laughed.
