Chapter 1

CONTEST

Beuri and her best friend Ahn were sitting on Beuri’s porch, on a hot Seoul summer afternoon. They were eagerly listening to the YG radio station, and clutching a phone with a sticker of the band Big Bang stuck to the back of it. Ever since their debut in 2006, the two friends were absolutely in love with the band, Big Bang. The way the dressed and the way they sang their songs made them fall in love. And also because … they had some pretty cute band members! Beuri, the loud, and over dramatic of the two was in love with Dae Sung, the band member known for his hilarious personality, large smile and love for the cartoon Doraemon. Ahn, the oldest and calmest of the two, loved G Dragon, the fearless and bold leader of the band.
Earlier in the month the two girls had entered a contest at the YG Entertainment Studio, the place where they both interned. The contest was that you and a friend would be able to have a dinner date with Big Bang. The winner would be given a call from the radio station, to avoid cheaters phoning in and pretending to be the winner.

“EEE! AHN I AM SUPER EXCITED! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE MY DAE SUNGIIEE IN REAL LIFE!” Beuri squealed. She always referred to Dae Sung as “hers” and hated when people liked him too.

“I wonder what GD will wear if we meet him.” Ahn said, thinking about her idol, wearing one of his high fashion outfits. This thought made her shudder.

She secretly hoped that he would wear the famous pink sweater with the little robot on it. Ahn had tried looking everywhere for that sweater so she could match her dream man, but had no luck.

“Okay all you fan girls and fan guys out there!” the radio announcer said “It’s time for the big moment! One lucky fan and a friend of their choice will get to meet their favorite YG band and get to spend the whole day with them”

“HURRY UP AND JUST SAY WHO WON ALREADY!” Beuri shouted at the radio. Ahn shushed her. “If you’re this loud, how can we hear if we won or not?”

At that moment the black phone beside Beuri rang. Ahn and Beuri froze. Neither of them knew what to do. What if it was the radio station calling them? None of them made a move, so Ahn, being the calm one, grabbed the phone.

“Yuhbaseyo?” a mans voice asked. “May I please talk to Beuri?”

Ahn quickly gave the phone to Beuri and turned up the radio.

“Yuhbaseyo …?” Beuri said rather quietly.

When Beuri said those words, the radio echoed the words back to her. Ahn was freaking out, this couldn’t be happening! Did they really win? Ahn got her answer when Beuri let out a blood curdling shriek of delight, threw the phone to Ahn and jumped up and down screaming “DAE SUNGIE!”

“Sorry about that.” Ahn said into the phone, turning off the radio. “My friend is a little excited.” Ahn couldn’t help but let out a little squeal herself.

After that, the radio announcer told them the procedure they would have to follow for the big day, which was tomorrow. A car would pick them up at Ahn’s house and bring them to the restaurant with Big Bang.

“EEEEE!” Beuri and Ahn screamed together. “WE GET TO MEET BIG BANG! WE GET TO MEET BIG BANG!” They shouted in sing-song voices. The girls couldn’t have been happier. But all of a sudden a grave look fell upon Beuri’s face. This made Ahn worried, what was there to be sad about?

“Ahn,” Beuri said in a hushed voice “… WHAT ARE WE GOING TO WEAR?!” Typical Beuri, always worrying about what she looks like.

Once Ahn calmed Beuri down, they sat quietly. Beuri kept on thinking about what it would be like to finally get to meet the love of her life, Dae Sung. She wanted to stand out from all the other fan girls. Ahn silently daydreamed to herself, wondering how it would feel to stand in the presence of Jiyong and stand next to him. Ahn decided to go and get some sleep, so they hugged and Ahn walked home.
