Looking up, he realized her presence,"I need to talk to you."
**AT THE DOCK**
Once again, she found herself standing looking out into the ocean. With the wind blowing lightly, she waited for Ron to speak.
"See those mountains far over there?" asked Ron. He continued, not waiting for her answer,"All the rich millionaires live up there. But see that old building? I bet a family who's not so wealthy lives there but is happy all the same."
Tavia shook her head and looked at Ron confused, "I don't understand."
"Money isn't everything but being happy is what counts."
Scrunching her brow together in thought, she tried hard to understand. "I still don't understand what you're saying."
Ron turned to face Tavia. With a very serious expression he continued, "I know that lately lots of stuff has been happening. Also, you're probably really stressed about the play. I know that it means alot to you but having that role doesn't mean you'll necesarily get into the entertainment business. But, I don't think it was necessary to yell at Michelle and tell her to leave the house. What's important is that we all get along, like we used to."
Staring at Ron, she shook her head in disbelief, "I can't believe this. This is just great." she threw her hands up in the air and let them drop to her side. "You think
I'M the one who doesn't want this to work out?" she asked pointing to herself. "What did she say to you? She's the one that can't be trusted. She's plotting against me with Shirley. Shirley's also tricking Raymond. I don't know what but-"
Ron put a hand on her shoulder, "Calm down, I know that when you're not in such a panic, you'll understand what I just told you. I think your job is affecting you, and it has an effect on all of us as a result. I don't want something like that to be a problem between the four of us."
"But it's not me! It's Michelle! She-" protested Tavia.
"I know you would make the right choice." Ron patted her on the back before leaving.
**GOLDEN ENTERPRISES-THE NEXT DAY**
Michelle twirled her pen as she looked over the booklet of the newest computer models. There was a new inventory since it was going to be mid-year in less than four weeks. Flipping to the next page, she felt something next to her. Turning her head, she found Ron standing next to her desk. Startled, she dropped her pen on the floor.
"How long were you standing there?!" she exclaimed.
Ron smirked and picked up her pen and placed it back on the desk. Looking at his watch he said sarcastically, "Oh, only about ten minutes. You should really stop stressing, you're so absorbed that you don't even know when somebody is standing next to you."
Picking up the pen, Michelle contiued to leaf through the booklet, "Yeah, sure, unlike you who's not serious about your job. So what's up?"
"Oh, nothing much. I talked to Tavia yesterday about what you told me. I'm starting to think maybe you're right. She's starting to have an attitude and she denied it and placed the blame on you."
"I thought she would do that." replied Michelle casually. "I guess she just doesn't want to accept it."
"Hey, Ron, Michelle! Do you want to have lunch with us?" asked one of their coworkers who stood in a group with the others.
"No, I have lots of stuff to finish up. Unlike this guy here." she narrowed her eyes at Ron and motioned towards him.
"Ron, you coming?"
"Guess not," he shrugged. "This lady here says I don't work hard enough. Besides, I need to finish up some odds and ends anyways."
"Ok, see you later!"
The large group exited the office, talking loudly. They all crammed into the elevator, discussing where to eat.
"I heard there's a new Japanese restaurant!" suggested one.
"Oh stop, you just want to learn more about Japanese food to impress your new Japanese boyfriend. I think we should eat Western food!" exclaimed another.
The loud chatter ended as the elevator doors closed. Returning to his desk, Ron opened up his copy of the booklet which Michelle was looking through. With a bored look on his face, he skimmed through all the pages.
"Hey!" Michelle tapped him on the shoulder.
"What?" mumbled Ron. "Don't tell me that my pretending to work isn't persuading."
"Do you want to go out to lunch or what?"
Ron swiveled around on his chair, "I'm starving, let's go."
**ON THE STREET**
It was twelve-ten in the afternoon. Walking on the streets in the heat of the July afternoon in his suit, Raymond fanned himself with a flyer. Throwing it into the garbage, he passed by a newsstand. With forty-five minutes to kill till his lunch break was over, he stopped and looked over the newspapers and magazines. As he scanned over the covers, three of them caught his eye. Bending over, he picked one of them up and looked at the title.
"Myoko fashion's manager, Bosco Wong caught with girlfriend meeting the parents."
On the cover was Bosco and Tavia with reporters surrounding them and a large house in the background. He was holding onto her arm through the crowd and Tavia had her hand up to shield her face.
Flipping open the magazine, Ray found the page which contained the article.
"Hey! You look through it, you buy it!" exclaimed the newsstand owner.
Fishing around in his pocket, he handed the old man a $5 HK coin. Snatching the coin from Raymond, the old man ruffled his newspaper and continued reading.
Reading the article while walking, Raymond encountered a whole bunch of people who were not very happy about his pace. Finally arriving at his office, he exited the elevator and placed the magazine onto his desk and proceeded to read.
"Yesterday, on July 6th, the son of Myoko designer, Priscilla Wong, Bosco Wong, was found to have brought his girlfriend home. They were dressed rather casually for this event. After being questioned, he finally admitted that she was his girlfriend. He stated that her name was Tavia Yeung and they have been dating for a period of four months. Little is known about her and as to how they met. However, she does not seem to be of high social class like Bosco Wong's previous girlfriends. But she did seem rather calm when she was engulfed by reporters. Their relationship appears rather steady as Bosco Wong guided her safely into their car-"
A knock on the door interrupted Raymond from his reading. He walked up to the window of his office room and saw Shirley standing outside, who waved at him.
"One moment!" he yelled. Quickly rushing over to his desk, he took the magazine and stuffed it hurridly into a drawer. Fixing his appearance, he went and opened the door.
"Hi." he said with a smile, smoothing his hair.
Shirley examined him, "Why do you look like you're in such a mess? How come it took you so long to open the door?" Raymond gave no answer. "Ohhhh!!" she pointed a finger at him accusingly. "You have another woman in here don't you!? I know where she is! She's hiding in here!" she opened the drawers to one of his file cabinets before not being able to supress her laughter. "She must know magic and I bet she stuffed herself in here!" she giggled before closing it.
There was a knock on the door. Turning, Raymond and Shirley saw a man in a suit standing at the doorway.
"Raymond, I have a question about one of my cases. I'm not sure if one of the laws can be applied to it. Can you help me out?"
"Sure." replied Ray, walking across the room.
"It's at my desk." replied his coworker.
The door was closed shut. With a sigh, Shirley walked around Ray's office, looking out the window she turned to see a picture of herself and Ray on his desk. Sitting down on his desk chair, she picked up the picture frame, gazing at it, she smiled before setting it down again. As she twirled aroud in the large leather chair, she saw something sticking out of one of the drawers. Thinking it was probably a work related document, she decided to put it back properly. She pulled the drawer open to reveal the magazine with Bosco and Tavia on the cover. Hearing voices from outside the door, she quickly slammed the drawer shut. The door then opened as Shirley looked up towards it in a panic.
"Having fun in my chair?" asked Raymond with a laugh. "Come on, let's go out. I still have thirty-five minutes before I need to get back to work."
Nodding, Shirley got up from the chair and walked around the desk. Before walking out the door, she glanced one last time over at the desk which contained the magazine.
**AT THE HOSPITAL**
"I can't believe we have another day off."
Bosco and Tavia walked down the long corridor of the hospital. Nurses and doctors rushed in and out from rooms as they passed by that wing of the hospital. As they entered another part of the building, it was much more quiet with patients who were only there for minor industries. They headed for a room with double doors.
"Well, I think we deserve it. We go to the theater each day so early and leave late."
"Mr. Wong! Are you here to visit the elderly again?" asked a voice.
Turning around, a nurse in white attire and a white hat was standing behind a desk. It was the same nurse who Tavia had seen a little more than four months ago who had gone into a trance over Bosco. Looking at her name tag, it said "Sharon Chan." She recognized Tavia and gave her a glanceover when she noticed her holding hands with Bosco.
"Yea, Nurse Chan."
Sharon looked up from their hands, "Excuse me but I'm really busy."
Walking into the room, Bosco and Tavia found it filled with old people. The old man which had told Tavia to join them last time, wheeled up to them.
"Are you two going to sing again for us today?" he asked.
"Of course." replied Tavia.
"I'll go get the materials." said Bosco, leaving the room.
Tavia watched as he left the room and turned her attention back to the old man, "So what song do you want to listen to?"
The old man noticed this and a smile appears on his face, "Bosco's a good guy. Remember that. Any song would be fine but I'd like to have a glass of water please."
"I know he is." she replied and gave him a reassuring smile before walking to pour a glass of water.
