"Can you stop that? You've sighed around eighty times ever since we got back. I thought you said Ray's plan was perfect?" questioned Michelle.
"It was...but.."Tavia started.
"But what?"
"I..don't know how to put it. The plan got rid of the stalker but.."
"Hurry up and get to the point already. But what?" asked Michelle impatiently.
Tavia, feeling pressured for an answer, blurted it out.
"Wow, that's FUNNY. You got rid of the nerdy guy but then now Ron likes you?" Michelle said bursting out laughing.
"It's NOT FUNNY! I don't know what I'm supposed to do."
"I don't know, you'll have to figure that out yourself! Right now I'm going to go shower." Michelle said still laughing and walked into the bathroom. She shut the door with a slam.
"Thanks alot..." muttered Tavia. She slowly got up and walked to the kitchen, looking for something to eat to console her. However, she had a craving for tong seau(cantonese-that sweet liquid desert stuff)...just then, the phone rang.
"Hello?"
"Hey Tavia, it's Ray. You know, I just had the strangest idea to go get tong seau. Want to come?"
"Sure!" replied Tavia immediately. It was strange how she and Raymond was compatible like that. However, she suddenly realized something.
"Wait, is Ron coming?" she asked worried.
Raymond paused, "No, he's not. My car only fits two people remember? I bought it so I can pick up girls remember?"
"Hey! I'm not one of those girls that flock towards you just because of you car! Ok, just pick me up in ten minutes." she replied relieved.
"I never said that, ME interested in YOU? Now that's funny! Geez, you girls take such a long time to get ready. Ok, I'll be waiting downstairs in ten minutes." he said then hung up.
Tavia quickly changed into a nice top and jeans, then put on some makeup too.
"Michelllleee! I'm going out!" Tavia yelled at the bathroom door. She heard a muffled reply and headed out of the apartment. She saw Raymond downstairs outside his silver Toyota sportscar.
"Hey, sorry I'm late." said Tavia smiling apoligizing.
Raymond noticed she was dressed especially nice for some reason. However, he didn't say anything and opened the door to the car for Tavia.
"Thanks." she said while getting in.
Raymond closed the door and got into the car. He started driving and turned on the radio. He remembered what Ron had told him, to ask Tavia if she had any feelings for him. For some reason, Raymond knew that Tavia didn't like Ron and decided not to ask. When he goes home, he can just tell Ron he forgot, simple as that.
"You know it's funny, I just wanted to have tong seau and then you called!" exclaimed Tavia, snapping Raymond out of his thoughts.
"Really? That's weird..."
"You know, we never went out together, just the two of us. ..Is there something you have to ask me?" she asked.
"No, I can't ask a friend out to eat?" asked Raymond lying.
"No, I wasn't saying that. I was just asking.." Tavia felt there was something weird behind his reason for asking her to go eat. *Wait a minute!..He MUST know about what happened today with Ron because he tells him everything. But he said he didn't have anything to ask me.. oh my god, what is this? A date?!?*
They arrived at the small shop which specialized in deserts and sat in a booth. A waiter arrived at their table.
"What would you two want to eat?" he asked while taking out a small pad to write on.
"Red bean tong seau" they both said at the same time and started laughing.
The waiter looked at them strangely, wrote down the orders on their pad and walked away. He came back a few minutes later with two bowls.
"It tastes kind of funny..." Tavia began.
"It does, doesn't it? Well it is kind of brown color so you never know what it is.." said Raymond with a grin.
"Eww that's disgusting!" Tavia said laughing which caused her to spit some of the desert out.
"Sorry.." she said quickly wiping her mouth.
"No problem." he replied with a smile. *That's what's so great about Tavia, she's just so carefree and always so cheerful*
**TEN MINUTES LATER**
"That was good! Where do you want to go now?" Raymond said paying for the deserts.
"Yeah! How about we walk around for a while, don't want to get fat!" joked Tavia.
"Oh please! You? Fat? You're as skinny as a stick" teased Raymond.
"Oh shut up! You don't look that great yourself!" Tavia said defensively.
"Well, if I don't look that great then how come all these girls come after me?"
"FOR YOUR CAR! They think you're rich so that's why! Well, lots of guys come after me too, so ha!"
"Sureeee. Speaking of guys, there's one of them right there." Raymond said pointing in front of them...where Ellesmere stood looking very angry.
"YOU LIED TO ME! That Ron guy wasn't your boyfriend!" he yelled.
"Hey, chill out. There's no need to get angry here." reasoned Ray.
"THIS is none of YOUR business!" Ellesmere responded. "YOU!" he said pointing at Tavia. "I like you so much but you use that guy to pretend to be your boyfriend? Have you ever thought about my feelings?!"
"I'm sorry...it's just that you didn't understand when I told you I was busy all those times..." she began.
"NO! I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT! YOU LIED TO ME!!" Ellesmere screamed and raised his hand to hit Tavia.
She raised her arms up to protect her face and heard a loud slap! However, she didn't feel anything. She put her arms down to realize Ray had stepped in front of her and Ellesmere had slapped him.
"Ray! Are you ok??!" Tavia asked worried.
"YOU! This is between ME and YOU. Don't bring my friends into this!" she screamed.
"THEN WHY WERE YOU MAKING THAT GUY PRETEND TO BE YOUR BOYFRIEND TO TRICK ME, HUH??!" Ellesmere screamed back angrily. This time, he made his hand into a fist and punched Tavia. Luckily, she blocked it with one of the martial arts moves she had learned from college.
However, she didn't see him draw back his other hand to hit her. She gasped and realized what was going on. But the blow didn't come, again. She realized that she had been saved by Raymond once again.
"What kind of a guy are you? You're hitting girls?" said Raymond and he punched Ellesmere.
"DON'T LET ME SEE YOU EVER AGAIN OR ELSE YOU'LL HAVE TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL INSTEAD OF THE DOCTOR!" yelled Raymond while Ellesmere got up and ran in the opposite direction.
Raymond turned around to see Tavia smiling at him.
"What are you smiling at?" he asked.
"Nothing. It's just that that was very brave of you, that's all. Thank you." she replied,stepping towards him and hugging him.
This suprised Raymond as he put her arms around her. He suddenly realized his heart was beating really fast and a smile was spreading across his face. But he quickly let go of Tavia.
"So, we're still going to walk around?" she asked.
"Yea..sure."
As they were walking, they passed by a fortune telling stand.
"Look! Fortune tellers!" exclaimed Tavia as Raymond followed her.
She sat down,"I'll like to have my fortune told for..fate." she said.
"I am Master Tang and yes..I see." as the fortune teller studied her face.
"You are liked by many men are you not?"
Raymond laughed at the comment.
"However, you don't find them fit to your requirements. I see that...fate has arrived. Although this is a good thing..but it comes with many obstacles. You will have to overcome many obstacles,I see many problems coming soon. Wait! I also see...you're not only fated to be with one person but two. This is very unusual and in all my years of fortune telling, you are only the second person who has this. Here, take this for good luck." the fortune teller handed her a good luck charm.
"Sir, the next year will be very difficult for you. Have ont too." the fortune teller said as he handed Ray one too.
They then paid and Ray drove Tavia home.
**OUTSIDE TAVIA'S APARTMENT BUILDING*
"Thanks..for helping me out tonight." Tavia said.
"No problem. Afterall, it's not right for guys to hit girls." replied Raymond.
"Well, good night."
"Good night."
**AT RAYMOND AND RON'S APARTMENT**
"So you asked her right?" was the first thing Ron said as Ray entered the apartment.
Ray paused.."I forgot." he said lying.
"Oh, well meet her again tomorrow and REMEMBER TO ASK! I'll tell the boss you're sick and you need the day off!" Ron walked into his room smiling and closed the door.
Outside, Raymond couldn't help but feel bad for lying to Ron. He didn't know what to do, to ask or not to ask Tavia about Ron. For some reason, he couldn't help but think if everything happened tonight was so coincidential. The fortune teller saying how Tavia's fate has arrived...not only one but two? Ron liked Tavia so he must be one. He couldn't help but wonder if the other person was himself since the fortune teller said he was going to have a bad year. At the same time, he told Tavia that fate was going to bring lots of problems..
Ray took the good luck charm out from his pocket. He sighed as he dialed Tavia's number into his cell phone.
"Hi, Tavia? It's Ray..I was just wondering if you were busy tomorrow?"
