Chapter 49

Mistaken Memory

Tavia was in her room packing up the clothes in her closet. She placed them into suitcases and miscellaneous boxes which Michelle had given her. After getting married, she was planning on moving into a new apartment with Bosco. The wedding was in a few days, four days to be exact. She looked forward to it and had planned everything out already. However, there was something that had been bothering her since she had woken up in the hospital. She didn't dare mention it to anyone, except she had casually mentioned it to Leila once. Ever since she woke up, she had a feeling that everybody wasn't telling her something. She also felt as if something was missing, possibly even someone. She kept on expecting somebody to show up, but nobody ever did. Yet she couldn't remember who it was. She opened the top drawer of her desk and turned it upside down, dropping all the contents onto her bed. A box fell onto the floor, picking it up, she found it locked. Searching amongst the mess on her bed, she found a small key. Opening the box, there was nothing in it except a picture. It was a wedding photograph of herself and a male. She recognized him as the guy she had seen in the hospital when she first woke up.

"Need any help?"

Tavia turned around with the picture in hand to find Michelle standing in the doorway. She walked towards her with the picture.

"Who is he? I remember he was the guy from the hospital."

"Oh, him. You took a wedding advertisement with him." lied Michelle.

"Then why was he so nervous when I woke up? I mean, if he's some guy that I just made an ad with."

"Uh, the thing is, he liked you but you only like Bosco. He kept on trying to get you to be your girlfriend but you refused. So that's why he was there." explained Michelle, tripping a bit on her words. "So, need help packing?" she asked, changing the subject.

Tavia shook her head, "It's so messy in here that there'll be no place to stand if you come in here too. Why don't you go back outside and see how your lovely husband is doing?"

Michelle hit Tavia lightly on the shoulder. "We're not even married yet! Just engaged!" she responded. "I don't have time to joke around with you. I don't want to help you anyways since you made fun of me!"

She heard Tavia laugh as she stomped out of her room back into the living room where Ron sat. She slumped onto the couch next to him and sighed.

"What's wrong?" asked Ron.

Michelle glanced behind her, making sure Tavia wasn't there. She answered in a low voice, "Tavia found the picture of her and Ray from Jack and Nancy's wedding. She asked me what was it from and who he was."

"What did you tell her?"

"I just told her it was for an advertisement. She remembered Ray from the hospital so I just made something up. I told her he had an obsession with her but she only liked Bosco." Ron nodded at the explanation while Michelle let out another sigh. "Do you think it would be better if we helped her remember him?"

"Remember what Ray told us? He wants Tavia to be with Bosco cause if she remembers everything, she'll just be unhappy."

Michelle nodded, "That's true but what kind of guy gives away the person he loves to somebody else?"

"A guy that truely loves the girl and wants her to be happy."

**AT THE THEATER- 3 O'CLOCK PM**
Bosco, Tavia, Leila, and Chris sat waiting for Michael to show up. He had called them to discuss the terms of their contracts with the New Talent agency. They all stood up and greeted him when he approached with Louis.

"Sorry for being late. As everyone knows, this is Mr. Louis Koo. He's in charge of the talent agency and will be needing you four to sign them." announced Michael.

Louis handed them each a piece of paper. "These are the contracts which you have to sign. I will be your agent and be helping you look for work suitable for you. Leila and Chris, you are recieving one in case either Bosco or Tavia are unable to fufill their jobs.

They handed back to him the papers which he took and left with. After that, the four of them headed out of the theater. Bosco and Leila stood outside after Chris had left, waiting for Tavia who was in the bathroom.

Leila glanced at her watch, "She must have fell into the toilet, where did she go?" Bosco shrugged as if he wasn't concerned. "What's wrong? You and the missus have a fight already?" she teased.

He forced a smile onto his face, appreciating Leila's efforts to cheer him up. "No, it's just that lately she seemed so distant. I don't know if she's hiding something from me."

"Really? Now that you mention it, a few days ago, she told me something. She said ever since she woke up, she always had a feeling that something is missing. Do you think that she knows about Raymond?"

Bosco shook his head, "I don't know."

Seeing the despondent look on his face, Leila smiled and patted Bosco slightly. "Don't worry, you two will be married at the end of the week. By then, she'll be Mrs.Wong and everything will fine afterwards." she said optimistically.

"What are you guys talking about?" Tavia had come out of the theater and was walking in their direction.

"We're talking about you." replied Leila which Bosco to look at her. "We're talking about how you need to go on a diet to cram into your wedding dress!"

"Are you calling me fat?" shrieked Tavia. "If anybody has to go on a diet it's you!"

**9:30 PM**
Bosco's car came to a stop in front of Mr. Sweety's Sweet Shop. He opened the door for Tavia who exited the car. They entered the shop and took a seat at a round table. Bosco excused himself to the bathroom while Tavia was left to order.

"What would you two like?" asked the waiter. He then looked up from his memo pad, "Oh I remember! One red bean and one taro root!"

An image flashed in Tavia's mind again. It was of the same waiter, asking what she wanted but two bowls of red bean were put on the table. She then remembered spitting it out for some reason. However, the table was square and not round, like the ones at the booths.

"I think you got it wrong. It's two red beans." she said, correcting the waiter.

"No, it's one red bean and one taro root." The waiter stopped and saw Bosco returning. "Why don't you ask him yourself?"

"Ask what?" Bosco took a seat at the table.

"What did you order the last time we came here?" questioned Tavia.

"Taro root 'tong seau.' Why?" replied Bosco.

"See." With a triumphant smirk, the waiter walked off to get their order.

"Nothing..." answered Tavia.
