“I am commenting, my comment is...NO COMMENTS!” Ariel said to be safe. She didn’t want to divulge in any details in front of the mob of reporters who had gathered around her car.
“Ariel, what about the fact that he spent last night at your house?” She asked again. This particular question triggered astonishment around the mob of reporters. They all looked at the fierce reporter for one second then turned their gaze to Ariel again, bombarding her with questions.
“Miss is this true?”
“What was he doing there last night?”
“Are you two in a relationship?”
“NO COMMENTS! Now let me pass!” Ariel pleaded getting annoyed. She had to be on the sets in half an hour, and already she was late. The reporters wouldn’t let her pass, they were closing in on her car, surrounding every inch of it, and making it impossible for the driver to drive.
“Ariel, what’s your relation with Joe?” The woman asked again. The other reporters got curious about this too.
“We are just good friends.”
“Do good friends eat almost every lunch and dinner together? Or stay overnight at each others houses?” The woman smirked.
“Of course they do. That’s what best friends are for.” She wanted to add, that just because she didn’t have any friends she shouldn’t interfere with her.
“Ariel, it’s obvious you guys are in a relationship, don’t lie.”
“Well it’s not so obvious to us now is it? Besides if I ever am in a relationship, I wouldn’t deny it. Now please excuse me before I call the police.”
The reporters quickly scattered out of Ariel’s way on hearing the threat about the police. They had had enough encounters with the police to know it wouldn’t be pleasant.
Ariel sighed with relief when finally, her car was in motion. She had twenty five minutes to get to the location. They were shooting to a new drama, They kiss again. It was the sequel of the very hit show It started with a kiss. That was her very first drama. Joe’s too.
A smile crept onto Ariel’s face. Joe and her met way back when Ariel was a nobody, trying to make it big. Her family had a lot of debts to pay, and she had to make money quick. She gave up high school and decided to go into modelling. She faced difficulties of course, because of her height, and her weight. She used to be a little plump, which was solved by working out regularly.
Her manager Dean, helped her become a model. The only thing working on her favour was her beautiful and soft fair skin. Dean suggested that she should stop trying to meet the unrealistic expectations of the modelling world and go into acting. He pointed out that only a few of the actresses were modelling material. The rest were just like her, they were short and they too had weight issues. Ariel considered this and decided to go into acting.
Many failed attempts later she got the opportunity to audition for a drama that seemed promising enough to her. It was for a show called It Started with a kiss which was an adaptation of the manga Itazura na Kiss.
There in the auditions she met Joe. He was scared and nervous. She spoke to him and they became good friends.
It was then, that love grew. Ariel sighed at the thought. She had loved Joe, since the first time she saw him. She instantly knew he was the one. This was Ariel’s secret. No one knew about this, except her best friend Jiro Wang.
Jiro was a co-actor too. He was Ariel’s school friend in the show It started with a kiss. He also was part of it’s sequel They Kissed Again. Ariel always teased Jiro saying he could never be the lead man, if he kept acting dumb in all his shows. She was wrong, Jiro had his own show called Rolling Love, for which he would start shooting soon.
Jiro often asked her what was the difference between him and Joe. That if they both were her best friends, whom does she like more. Ariel would immediately say, Jiro was the person she could share everything with, and be comfortable with. She could set him up on dates, and talk to him about his countless girlfriends. Joe however, was her dream man. She would want him to be close to her, to only want her, to only love her. She couldn’t talk about other women with Joe. If Joe suddenly announces one day that he loved someone Ariel’s life would end there.
Jiro was her best friend. But Joe was her love.
Jiro would always encourage her to admit her love to Joe. He would say...
“Ariel, you have to tell him. If you keep hiding it like this, and pretending there are no feelings, he would never know. Then he would settle down with some dimwit, and you would be alone all your life.”
“But...I...cant.”
“Why not? Have some courage!”
“What if he rejects me Jiro? And what if after he rejects me, he refuses to talk to me, or see me? What if, admitting my love for him, affects our friendship? I can live without his love, but I cannot live without his friendship.”
Every week when they went out for dinner on Wednesday, Jiro would bring up the same point, and Ariel would ask this same question, and Jiro would keep quiet for the rest of the evening, as though he were thinking something.
Ariel asked the driver to park away from the press and got down slowly. She was greeted by Joe.
“Did you hear what the press are asking?” He asked innocently.
“I was mobbed today by the press, I caught something about you and me dating.” Ariel relied trying to sound uninterested. In reality she was holding her breathe to hear his reaction. Maybe it would give Ariel hope.
“Well, at least three girls called me today. They were asking if it was true. Sorry but I shamelessly used you. I told them it was true.”
“What was true?”
“That...um...well...”
“Did you tell them that you were there all night in my house, or did you insinuate that something happened between us?” Ariel turned to look at him, hands on hips.
“Um...well, see I had to get rid of them...they were really annoying. Like, seriously annoying! So I said that...”
“You little...! If those girls go to the press, the press would think we’re dating!”
“So? What’s wrong with people thinking that?”
“Are you crazy?!” Ariel snapped. But she was quietly enjoying the idea that Joe doesn’t mind to be known as her boyfriend.
“No, I’m Joe.” Joe gave a saccharine smile.
“Joe! What if people start thinking that we’re dating? What would happen then? Do you have any idea?”
“Well, I don’t know, people would be pleased. I mean we are the most successful couple of the industry. We’ve got loads of assignments and ads, besides you never dated anyone before right? What’s wrong with people thinking that finally you’re getting yourself in the dating game?”
“What if, the press catch you with another one of your girls? They’ll think you’re cheating on me!”
“Have I ever been photographed with anyone? Oh, and speaking of my girls...I met this awesome girl yesterday!”
“Shut up!” Ariel said putting her fingers to her ears, and trying to block out Joe’s words.
The fact that she loved him, and he didn’t think of her that way hurt her a lot. The truth was, she wouldn’t really mind being called Joe’s girlfriends. But she would like it more if it were true.
Jiro’s words came to her mind. What if he never knew she loved him? Maybe if he knew, he would start liking her too? Maybe she should tell him.
“...and then she looked at me and said...” Somewhere in her mind she heard Joe talking about that girl, but the words wouldn’t register. All Ariel could think of was a pristine white wedding gown, and a three layered vanilla chocolate cake.
“Ariel are you listening?”
“Yes of course...” Ariel smiled up at him.
Maybe she should tell him about her feelings. Maybe he would agree. Maybe...

Ok, so the story is getting to the exciting part slowly. The pace of this story is going to be really slow. I must warn you right away.
And I'm thinking of succumbing to you're wishes and making Enrique the hero in the end! But that's just a thought, I might still be loyal to the ArJoe clan! Please comment!
Also I wanted to tell you all about a new ArJoe story by a writer called Nhu. It's called Love's a game, and it's reallt good. Go check it out =)
