“Joe! There’s been a mistake we were supposed to go to room 1! The press is wait...”
“I know there is a mistake! I could understand when that lady slapped me!” Joe snapped.
“I’m so sorry Joe.” Angelina winced.
“Well sorry isn’t going to change what just happened!” Joe said furiously.
“What do we do now?!” Angelina panicked.
“Well for one, I’m going to go apologise to them. I’ll be back to handle the mess. Tell the press to hold on. And tell them the process will go on in half an hour.” Joe ordered through gritted teeth.
“Will you be alright by yourself?” Larry asked concerned.
“I just hope...” Joe paused for dramatic effect, “ they don’t kill me.”
“All the best!” Angelina and Larry chimed together putting up their thumbs as a sign of support.

“Ariel...” Wu Chun’s said sombrely as he saw Ariel approaching.
“Wu! I’m sorry I don’t know what happened or who that...”
“Don’t lie.” Wu Chun cut her off. “This was all arranged by you, wasn’t it?”
“What?! No!” Ariel wailed. “I...I don’t even know why that happened.”
“Ariel, please don’t lie. This was all set up wasn’t it? You just wanted to embarrass me in front of my family and friends.”
“What! Why would I do that? Wu think sensibly...I love you! I wouldn’t do anything to hurt...”
“Oh give it up Ariel. I’ve had enough! I’m leaving.”
“No! Wu! Please don’t! We can get married now, everyone’s still here and nothing is wrong. Please! Come back...”
“Don’t ever try to reach me Ariel.”
“Wu! “ Ariel shouted behind the figure that was quickly disappearing. “ Please come back!” Her feet felt like jam, and she couldn’t move them or make herself to go after Wu Chun.
She saw the diminishing figure in horror. And to her, and her parents utmost embarrassment, the guests started leaving one by one.
“Ariel!” Ella called out from behind her as she saw that her friend fell to the ground, her face covered in tears. “Ariel get up!”
“I...he left!” Ariel mumbled barely audible.
“Ariel, he’s a jerk! You saw the way he looked, he didn’t want to marry you in the first place. I bet this was all his plan!”
“Plan?”
“Yes Ariel! I bet he was too scared to go through with the wedding, so he hired someone to do all this in the very last minute, instead of backing down and ruining his reputation.”
“He...he...would do that?” Ariel asked for need of something to say.
“He’s a heartless old bat! Of course he would do this. He’s a jerk!”
“But...but he looked so angry...”
“He’s a very good actor that’s all!” Ella replied frustrated. She wanted Ariel to get up on her feet and walk out with dignity, but right now all Ariel was doing was asking ridiculous questions.
She couldn’t believe the nerve of Wu Chun to carry out such a well thought out plan and fool Ariel.
It might’ve meant nothing to him, but to Ariel this was a very huge issue. She was embarrassed in front of all the people she worked with, her family, her friends, and many rich and well-known people of Taiwan.
“Ariel get up! This is exactly what he wants. To see you break down and cry. Don’t give him the satisfaction. Please Ariel!”
Ariel opened her mouth then closed it again. She just didn’t know what to say. Anger was filling her entire body, rage creeping into her mind.
But this rage was not for Wu Chun, it was for the man that stopped the wedding and made it all happen. The man who forcibly took her up a horse and out the wedding.
She knew she had to focus her anger on Wu Chun, but the man that dragged her away on his silly white horse, had to pay the price. And one measly slap wouldn’t do the trick .
She looked up at the empty auditorium. Everyone was gone, everyone besides her parents, who she could tell, were trying to hide their tears, the priest was sitting on a bench with his head down, and Ella standing next to her, begging her to get up.
But Ariel couldn’t get up. She just couldn’t. What was the point? Would anyone really care if she got up right now? What difference would it make to anyone? She would have to go back on Monday morning to her boring old job, to that little apartment down the way to her office, and live all alone. She would go back to staying home alone on Saturday nights, and reading books over and over again.
Go back to celebrating holidays with her bickering family. Listen to her mom and dad, argue. She would go back to looking at people buy their presents for their kids.
Go back to being alone and miserable. All this because of one man, who to her amazement, was walking down the isle now.
“Ariel?” He asked doubtfully. “Ariel, are you?” Joe looked around at the sign that read, ‘Ariel and Wu Chun wedding- auditorium 2’ to confirm his doubt. “Ariel.”
“Well now that you’ve established the name, can you get lost!” Ella snapped at him.
“Please,” Joe looked at her with anger. “I’m here for Miss Ariel.”
He shifted his gaze back to Ariel. “Ariel, I...I’m sorry about what happened.”
“No you’re not you jerk! Why did you come back? Wu Chun forgot to pay you did he?” Ella bellowed.
“Please miss! Let me talk to her...” Joe said looking down at Ariel, who was still sitting on the ground with a look of...sorrow? Anger? Whatever her mood was, he just couldn’t read it. Cautiously he looked away from her to her parents.
A pang of regret hit his heart. Her parents were now holding each other close and sobbing. They didn’t seem to notice what was happening.
Joe was sure if they did, they would’ve kicked him out. This other woman, who was probably Ariel’s best friend, certainly wanted to.
“Miss Ariel...” Joe’s voice trailed of. The look on Ariel’s face cutting dagger’s in his heart.
“Miss Ariel...” He continued, ignoring her friend’s look. “I...please get up...I want to apologise. This was all a mistake...we...”
“What sort of mistake?” Ariel finally looked up at him and got to her feet.
“Well, we were supposed to go to room 1, I’m from the Miracle soap company. We have this contest to make a woman’s romantic dream come true, and a lady called Anna applied and her dream was to be taken away by a man on a white horse during her wedding. We mistook the room number, and came to the wrong room. We...”
“Really?” Ariel asked calmly. So Wu Chun didn’t plan all this. This was some mistake made by this pathetic man. She had to ask...“Her name was?”
“Anna.” Joe supplied.
“But I’m Ariel, I don’t see any resemblance with both those names, besides from the fact that they start with an ‘A’. The room number could’ve been mixed up, but not the names. I’m sure you knew the groom’s name. Was it Wu Chun too?”
“Well, this was a common mistake, it could happen to...”
“No it couldn’t!” Ariel snapped. “You...you!”
“Look I said sorry didn’t I? I cant do anything else! What can I do marry you?”
Suddenly it hit her. She needed revenge and this was the best way. She could make him suffer. She could get back at him. She could make his life miserable.
“Yes.” Ariel grabbed Joe by the hand and pulled him to the stand. She then called over the priest and asked him to start the procedure.
“Are you crazy?!” Joe exclaimed.
“No.” Ariel replied flatly. “You need to repair the damage you did to me right? Then marry me.”
“What?! No!”
“Do you have a girlfriend?”
“No...” Joe answered awkwardly.
“Then you wouldn’t mind marrying me.”
“What! Of course I would! I cant marry you.” Joe said backing away.
“Ariel, are you sure you...?” Ella tried to talk, but one look from Ariel silenced her. She looked over to her parents who both looked bewildered.
“If you don’t marry me Mr. Whatever your name is, I will file a law suit against you for destroying my marriage and bring you and your company down.” Ariel said bravely. She knew this was an empty threat, and knew she couldn’t possibly carry it out to the end, but she hoped this man wouldn’t see that it was just a lie.
“Well...” The man said after deep thought. “Ok.”
Success! It never tasted so good after having your world crumble down after you. Now was her chance she would see an end to this man. His life will be hell now.
“I now pronounce you...husband and wife.”
