Finding True Love…Is Harder Than It Seems

Chapter 109: Congrates Kris…You’re …

Carmen knocked on his door.

“Come in,” called Louis.

“You were supposed to have dinner with Mr. Ku at seven, but his secretary just called, due to some family problems he has to cancel,” announced Carmen.

Louis nodded, “Thanks a ton, Carmen, you can leave now.”

“How about you?” asked Carmen.

“I need to stay here for a little while,” answered Louis.

“I’ll stay with you,” Carmen said, very evident that she was hitting on him.

Louis looked at her wrinkling his eyebrows, he looked out the window, “Oh, you want to wait out the storm, and want me to take you home?” he assumed.

“Storm?” Carmen asked, she looked out the window, it was raining. “Uh…yeah…” she said.

Louis looked at his pocket watch, “It is getting late,” he said looking up at her, “Let’s go…” he said closing the file on his desk, standing up, and putting his watch back in his pocket.

“Okay,” smiled Carmen, they walked to the elevator together in silence. “That’s a pretty pocket watch you got there,” she said. “Where did you get it?”

Louis smiled, at the thought of how he got the watch, “It was a gift, a very precious gift,” he answered.

Carmen stared at the dimples on his cheeks.

The elevator stopped, they both got off the lift, and headed to the exit.

“Shit,” Louis uttered under his breath, it was raining harder now.

“Wow, looks like hail,” Carmen said.

Louis took off his coat and held it over his head, “Come here,” he said.

“What?” Carmen asked, completely clueless.

“You don’t want to get wet do you?” Louis asked. “Come here, under my jacket. We’ll use it as shelter, as we run to my car.”

“I…uh…” began Carmen, her face flushed crimson now.

“What?” Louis asked, grinning at her goofily, “You don’t think I’m going to take advantage of you, now do you?”

“…” Carmen didn’t say a word, she continued thinking.

“I’m a real gentleman you know, you could even ask all my buddies, heck I have a gi…” he began, about to tell her about Kristy.

”It’s not that,” answered Carmen.

“Then get over here!” declared Louis.

Carmen did as told.

She hid under his jacket, his arms above her head, they were so close she could feel his body heat.

Louis on the other hand, felt nothing but cold, his number one priority was to get to the car dry.

When they finally reached the car, Louis waited until she got in on the passenger side, then ran to his side, got in and started the car. The ride was silent. The storm had calm down, it was simply spitting now, no heavy rain. Louis stopped and parked the car. The two got out and walked towards the building.

“So…” began Carmen.

“Ya?” asked Louis.

“You want to come up to my place?” Carmen asked. “My roommate is out tonight on a date, and well I’m all alone, if you don’t mind, you could keep me company, I went shopping yesterday, and I have a feast all planned, but at the last minute my so called best friend stood me up,” she said casually looking about.

Louis laughed and nodded, “Sure why not, there’s nothing better to eat at home, except Dicky’s so-called scrambled eggs and rice. Haven’t had a good home cooked meal in some time,” he said.

“That’s great,” she said excitedly. “Decent company at last.”

They headed up to the fifth floor, and entered her apartment.

“Wow nice place you got here,” announced Louis looking around. “I say Jules should’ve given you girls our place, while we switched down here,” he said looking about.

“There’s only two rooms, and one bathroom,” said Carmen from the kitchen.

“Well your rooms are like twice the size of the rooms at my place. It’s hard enough trying to fit a single size bed in such a small place, try bringing someone home, dang,” he joked.

“You must bring a lot of girls home, huh?” Carmen asked.

Louis smiled bashfully and shook his head, “Hardly, maybe once or twice, but there’s no privacy, I never hear the end of it the next day. My roommates are influenced too greatly by their girlfriends, they bicker like women.”

“I see,” Carmen said smiling, from within the kitchen.

“So where’s your boyfriend?” Louis asked. “It’s more likely for you to call a boyfriend when your lonely, not your boss,” he said.

“Oh boyfriends? I have none,” replied Carmen. “I haven’t met Mr. Perfect yet.”

“True, girls are really picky when choosing their prince. Especially yourself, being such a beauty, that is,” announced Louis looking around, at the pictures, and furniture.

“So how about you, Mr. Koo, how many girlfriends do you have currently?” asked Carmen.

“What do you mean by girlfriends?” asked Louis. “Do I look like that type of guy?”

“Well…let’s see,” said Carmen, coming from the kitchen, “Tall, dark, handsome, with a mysterious aura, you must be a babe magnet.”

“Well I’m not saying I ain’t,” laughed Louis.

“Well don’t tell me you don’t take advantage of this so called talent of yours,” said Carmen.

“Sure I’m a flirt, who isn’t? Everyone likes being complimented, but me, I like teasing, some people take teasing as a form of courtship, but I just do it for fun, I like to see girls, guys even get embarrassed, but it’s a lot humorous and easier to get a girl to turn bright red,” announced Louis.

“So you don’t have thousands and hundreds of girlfriends?” Carmen asked.

“Wow! I wish!” laughed Louis. “Naw…I’m a one girl kind of guy, once I’ve fallen for a girl, there’s no number two.”

“Really?” asked Carmen.

Louis nodded.

“So have you met the right girl yet?” she asked, impatiently.

“Actually…” he began, and the oven timer went off.

“Hold that thought,” she said getting up. “Dinner’s about done.”

Someone knocked on the door.

“Can you get that?” Carmen called out.

“Uh…yeah sure,” answered Louis. He got up and answered the door. There was a girl standing in front of the door soaked from head to toe, she didn’t bother looking up at him.

“Thank god you’re home Car, that dweb, dumped me on the curb, he didn’t even have the courteously to give me back my friggin purse! You know why?” she exclaimed falling onto the couch. “Because he’s married! He had to leave me, he dropped everything, just because his wife…that he happened to have never told me about was going into labor. He threw me out of the car and left in a hurry. An entire month, I gave him an entire month of my life. A month that I will never be able to get back!” she exclaimed, yelling into a pillow.

“Anne?” asked Carmen, coming out of the kitchen, and sitting beside her friend.

Anne sat up and hugged Carmen, and cried softly, “That’s it Carmen, no more guys for me, they’re all jerks!”

“Oh Anne! Your knee it’s scrapped!” exclaimed Carmen, “Sit still while get the band-aids,” she said standing up. She passed Louis, “Sorry Louis, just give me a few minutes for dinner to be served.”

“It’s absolutely fine with me,” said Louis.

Carmen left for the things.

Louis sat down on the couch, “Just to let you know, not all guys are two timing jerks, at least I’m not,” he said. “Don’t worry, there are more fish in the sea, you know,” he said.

“Easy for you to say, you’re a guy, it doesn’t matter if guys age, they can always get girls wherever, but girls as soon as they lose they’re face they’re useless,” she sobbed, she looked up at him and froze.

“That’s not true…” began Louis, but was lost when he saw her staring at him with her wet, big eyes. “Ummm…do I got like something in my teeth?” he asked.

She shook her head, and smiled seductively, “Thank you,” she said.

“For what?” Louis asked.

“For consoling me, and giving me a ride home that night,” she said. “If there’s anything you ever need just tell me,” she announced leaning into him a bit.

“I…uh…” she was making him uncomfortable. “I remember that night, it was nothing really,” he said, trying to move away, but she continued leaning in towards him, until he fell off the couch.

“What’s that noise?” Carmen asked coming out with the first aid kit, finding Anne practically all over Louis. “Anne!” she exclaimed.

Luckily Louis’ cell phone rang, “I’m going to take this outside,” he announced standing up and heading for the door.

Anne pinched Carmen.

“What?” Carmen asked.

“That’s my Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome!” she exclaimed.

“Is not!” replied Carmen, “That’s my boss and possibly my future boyfriend. It might actually work with him. We click!”

“No! I met him first!” announced Anne. “If anybody’s he should be my boyfriend.”

“You don’t even know his name!” announced Carmen.

“Ya I do, it’s Louis!” declared Anne, remembering Carmen call his name earlier.

“Louis what?” Carmen asked.

“Louis…,” answered Anne. “Louis, he lives with that Julian guy upstairs.”

“That doesn’t answer my question,” Carmen said.

“Well I have a lot of chances don’t I?” she said, “I can visit you at work now, better yet, I’ll work there too!” declared Anne.

“Oh no you don’t!” said Carmen. “I never meet any nice guys, it’s my turn to date!”

Louis entered the apartment finding the girls bickering about something, “Carmen, something’s just come up, I need to check on it now, I can’t stay for dinner, I’ll treat you sometime, alright?” he said.

“Oh…” Carmen said disappointedly. “Okay, some other time then.”

“Thanks, you’re a doll,” Louis said. “Bye,” Louis said to Anne.

“Bye bye, sweetie, you’re so kind,” she said, winking at him.

“UH…yeah…sure,” Louis nodded and left.

Anne and Carmen continued bickering.

Louis listened to his cell phone, “Hey, you still there?” he asked.

“Ya, I’m still here,” she replied.

“So how’s Kristy doing, has she been thinking about me?” Louis asked.

“This is going to be killer on the phone bills, you know that right?” she asked.

“Oh come on Gigi, you’re her best friend, tell me is she wearing the ring yet?” Louis asked.

“Why should I tell you?” Gigi asked.

“Hey, we had a deal, you remember it don’t you?” Louis asked. “I tell you about you know who and you tell me about Kristy.”

Gigi sighed, “Ya, I know.”

~Flash Back~
(When Louis went to Taiwan to visit Kristy, a month ago)

Louis saw Gigi staring out into space. He approached her by the window, “You know, Dicky loves staring out into space. He does it all the time. He’s been doing it since we were kids,” he said.

“Does he now?” Gigi asked.

Louis nodded, “Always.” He studied her expression. He already had a feeling that there was something unusual going on between her and Dicky.

“You know Jessica’s been gone for almost two months already,” said Louis.

“Ya, seems like just yesterday,” answered Gigi. “Everyone, I still miss her a lot. It seems like she never left.”

“Everyone, ya…I loved her a lot too, she was my sister,” said Louis. “Not only I loved her, there was Annie, Ruby, Vicki even Dicky…” hinted Louis.

“Especially Dicky,” sighed Gigi.

“Ya, he loved her heaps,” said Louis. “She did too.” He sighed. “Gigi, you know it was exactly like this at the cottage.”

“Like what?” Gigi asked.

“If I’m not mistaken, you’ve loved Dicky almost as long as Jessica had. And when he started off with Athena the two of you were broken up inside. You and Jessica can be alike a lot. But you, you hid it from everyone, until this very day.”

“Hid what?” Gigi asked, as if she didn’t understand him.

“I’ve always been by Jessica’s side to comfort her whenever she was down, especially all the times she was crying over Dicky,” said Louis. “You want to know something?”

“Up to you,” replied Gigi.

“Jessica was always heartbroken whenever she saw Athena and Dicky together and being all mushy. But their relationship, communication wise, wasn’t as close as her and Dicky,” announced Louis. “She always said as long as he was happy, but deep down, she prayed that they’d break up soon. She was there to comfort him. They got closer and closer day in and day out. That’s part of the reason he discovered he loved her,” explained Louis.

“And, what does it have to do with me?” Gigi asked. “I know that they’re an item, they’re two of a kind. That they’re soul mates. You don’t have to tell me twice.”

“Both Jess and Dicky are my two best friends, I know they love each other, and I’m glad that they were together for, at least for a short period of time, but I just don’t know. It took him a real long time to tell her he loved her. He didn’t realize it until he knew she loved him.”

Gigi listened intently.

“Jessica once told me, she told me she was jealous of you,” said Louis.

“Me? Why me?” Gigi asked.

“The one thing Jessica had that Athena didn’t with Dicky was the bond, that close bond, they could easily talk to each other. They knew each other inside out, but her bond with Dicky, was a little too sister like. They told each other everything, they always knew the outcome would be the same, with Jess always forgiving him. But with you, only she saw this, she saw the fondness, the common interest, the distance, the awkwardness, the manners, the flirting, you and Dicky have whenever the two of you meet,” said Louis.

“She was jealous of that?” Gigi asked, surprised.

Louis nodded, “Like hell she did. Almost as much as whenever Dicky babied Athena.” Louis sighed. “Let me ask you something,” Louis said. “Before…did you ever come to think that Dicky and Jessica would be a couple?”

Gigi paused, and thought, “Life is usually unpredictable,” she finally answered.

“Truthfully, what have you always thought of their relationship?” Louis asked. “Like everyone else, they were just friends, having a bro and sis relationship.”

Gigi closed her eyes, her face still up in the stars, “Why are you telling me all this?” she asked.

“Ummm,” thought Louis. “I have no clue,” he laughed. “I just find you and Dicky both overly concerned about each other.”

“He’s concerned about me?” Gigi asked, looking straight into Louis’ eyes.

“Sure,” replied Louis, “Think about it, after your incident with Athena, how did he treat you? I’ve never seen him put so much thought, and heart into taking care of someone,” said Louis.

“He felt guilty,” said Gigi.

“Why though? Why did Athena think the two of you had a relationship?” Louis asked.

“I…we…I don’t know,” answered Gigi.

“Rumors, there’s always some source of truth in rumors. Though Athena’s whacked, she still was sensible, she planned things out. If not she wouldn’t have gotten away with murdering Jess like that. Before Jess was shot, Athena and her never crossed paths. I always sensed all of Athena’s anger pinpointed at you. Why do you think so?” Louis asked.

Gigi didn’t answer.

“Speak, say something, I’m right about everything, aren’t I?” he asked.

“I grew up with Kristy, spent almost every single day of my life with her, always by my side, not even she knew I had feelings for him, how do you, a person, who I barely know, know so much about my affairs?” Gigi asked, smiling weakly at Louis.

“Though I joke around a lot, I’m very observant of the people surrounding me,” said Louis.

“Especially Kris, right?” teased Gigi.

“Of course, I can observe her all day and night,” announced Louis.

“I see why my best friend loves you so much,” said Gigi.

“Aww, she said she loved me a lot?” Louis smiled, “How sweet, I love her so much too, you can tell her that for me.”

“Tell me what?” Kristy asked, walking down the stairs.

~End Flash Back~

“So how’s Kristy? Does she miss me like hell? It’s been almost a month you know,” Louis asked.

“Do you really think, you’re that important to her?” Gigi asked. “It’s not like she can’t live without you,” she teased.

“So I’m guessing she hasn’t accepted my proposal yet,” said Louis.

“I really don’t know,” replied Gigi. “She’s acting perfectly normal to me, with the exception of overworking, and she’s quieter than usual. But that’s Kristy, she needs time to think.”

“Is she losing weight?” Louis asked in a very concerned tone.

“No, not at all,” announced Gigi, “Not that its any of your business, but I think she’s gaining a few pounds. Just yesterday, we were trying on some clothes at the mall, her regular size, for pants went up a notch. And the week before she spent the night, and she cleaned out my cookie cupboards, finishing up the last of my milk. In all the years I’ve known her, she never liked eating cookies with milk, even when we were little, she had a limit of only a few cookies a day. Now it’s a few boxes of cookies a day.”

Louis laughed.

“Now your turn, how’s Dicky?” she asked, eagerly.

“Be patient woman,” laughed Louis. “Dicky’s fine. He’s absolutely normal. It’s just every now and then CC would bring up your name and he’d look up from whatever he was doing. Like a few nights ago, when we were eating at CC and Nic’s place, Dicky was cutting up the veggies, when V called, your name came up, and he like cut his finger off,” laughed Louis.

“WHAT?” exclaimed Gigi.

“Well not off, but the cut was pretty deep, any deeper than it would’ve hit bone,” said Louis.

“Did you take him to the hospital to disinfect it?” Gigi asked.

“A tiny little cut like that isn’t worth the wait in the emergency room,” laughed Louis. “Ya, Tae disinfected it for him. You know what a baby Dicky can be, just a tiny sting, and he knocks Tae right out,” chuckled Louis.

Gigi nodded, “That’s good to hear.” She smiled to herself, in relief. “So how are things there? Any word from Annie or Teresa yet?”

“Still no,” replied Louis. “I miss the little runts, its kind of lonely here without them. I know they’re find though. No bodies have been reported, so they must be okay,” he joked.

“That’s not even funny,” said Gigi.

“My bad,” replied Louis. “They’re both very capable girls, no need to worry. Annie has Kevin, and if anyone tries to lay a finger on Teresa, she’ll simply beat the shit out of them.”

“Alright, I need to go out now, I have a dinner date with your honey,” said Gigi.

“And I got one with yours,” teased Louis. “Send Kris my love, alright?”

“Ya, sure whatever,” replied Gigi.

“And I’ll do the same for you,” said Louis.

“Don’t you dare,” warned Gigi. “Don’t make things worst.”

“Alright, bye,” Louis said.

“Bye,” Gigi hung up the phone.

Louis sighed, he headed upstairs to his apartment, where the others were waiting for him.

“Ey Lou, we’re starved, its your turn to cook!” announced Dicky rubbing his stomach.

“Ya, look at poor Tae, he’s getting skinner by the day,” laughed Julian.

“Shut it,” Tae announced slapping Julian’s chest.

“Wow Tae, you actually defending yourself now, huh?” Julian teased.

“Do you really want me to freaking beat you?” Tae asked.

Dicky threw Louis a little pink apron, “Get cooking,” he announced.

“Can’t we eat with CC and Nic?” Louis asked.

“No, CC said she had some romantic mumbo jumbo planned for Nic tonight,” answered Julian.

“That lucky bastard, got a woman cooking all three of his meals everyday, plus snacks and dessert,” Louis announced shaking his head, as he headed off into the kitchen.

The other three were sitting on the couch sighing.

“What’s wrong?” Louis asked, hearing their desperate cries.

“Just last May, we always either had Jessica…”

“Teresa,”

“or Annie, to cook for us, now all we have is each other, and none of us can cook,” continued Julian.

“Oh grow up,” announced Louis, “So what if your girls aren’t by your sides to take of you. Kristy ain’t by my side, I miss her like hell but I don’t expect her to take care of my every want and need. You three abused good relationships, taking it for granted, doing stupid things, making them mad. Everyday, if its not either Annie upset, then its Jess, on rare occasions it would happen to be Teresa. Sometimes it would be just all of them. Quit acting like babies and start acting like actual grown men.”

“Grow up?” Tae asked. “You still have Kristy, she didn’t leave you for good, you don’t know how we’re feeling.”

“I’m just as bad as you three, me and Kristy love each other, but I can’t see her everyday, heck, I rarely even saw her. You three grew up with your girls by your sides, doing everything for you, but it wasn’t until now did I confess my feelings to Kristy. I only had this summer with her, while you had more than a decade with yours. Tell me who’s worst off?” Louis asked.

None of the three guys spoke.

“Good, no argument?” Louis declared. “Case close, no more mourning over these kinds of loses, understand? If you want them back, go out and find them yourselves. Don’t sit here just talking, do something dammit!”

“Find her? How am I supposed to do that?” Tae asked. “God knows where she is. Even if I do find her, what do I say to her, how can I face her?”

“Be a man, live up to your mistake, and except any form of punishment,” said Louis.

Tae was silent.

“What about Annie?” Julian asked. “She has that Kevin by her side 24/7 now, who knows they could be married, and have children already.”

“Find her, propose and don’t take no as answer. You’ve always been good with being demanding,” announced Louis.

Julian was in deep thought, afraid of the outcome when he does find her. Afraid that she will reject him for good, killing his only hope of them being together.

Dicky didn’t say anything, nor did Louis say anything to him. He didn’t know what to say. Louis thought up some comforting words, “Dicky, you got to face the fact, Jessica’s gone. You put up a great act and all but….I know Jess better than any of you, she wouldn’t want to see you like this. She’d want you to move on.”

“Move on to what?” Dicky asked, he had one person in mind.

“That’s what you have to find out,” answered Louis. “You can’t just give up and call it quits.”

~Taiwan~

“Why so quiet tonight?” Gigi asked, as she took a sip of her white wine.

Kristy finished off the rest of her plate, chewed carefully and swallowed. “You shouldn’t drink too much, it isn’t good for you,” she pointed out, referring to the wine.

“You, quit eating so much, you’re going to get fat,” teased Gigi.

Kristy frowned. “You’re just beginning to heal. Are you still on those pain killers?” Kristy questioned, creating more conversation based on Gigi.

“It’s a lot better now,” answered Gigi, drinking another sip. “Don’t worry so much. God you’re beginning to sound like my mother.”

Kristy laughed, “Is that a bad thing?”

“Well if you want to be a mother, why don’t you just marry Louis and get it over with,” answered Gigi aiming for the bullseye.

Kristy stared at her empty plate, poking it with her fork, she looked up and Gigi and smiled weakly, “Can I get a sip of that, all this food is making my throat all dry,” she said reaching out her hand.

Gigi shook her head and handed Kristy the glass of wine.

Like usual Kristy would stir her wine a bit, sniff it then drink a tiny portion of it.

Gigi was laughing, “Does wine taste better that way?” Gigi asked.

When Kristy sniffed the wine she felt nauseous, she handed it to Gigi and shook her head, “Gi, this seems a little to strong for me, just smelling it makes me sick,” she said wrinkling her eyebrows.

Gigi laughed, “I thought it was hard has hell to get you drunk. Last time it took at least one case of beer to get both you and Rubes drunk.”

Kristy shrugged, “I guess my body can’t take that much alcohol anymore,” replied Kristy. She looked at Gigi’s plate, with ¾ of a blueberry cheese cake left. “Are you going to finish that?” she asked.

Gigi handed Kristy the plate, “Be my pleasure,” she laughed, as she watched Kristy gobble the entire cake up.

After dinner they decided to do some window shopping.

“Oh my god, look at that outfit, I have to get it,” said Kristy looking through a window.

“Why don’t you then?” Gigi asked.

“Because…” said Kristy.

“Because of what?” Gigi questioned.

“I don’t think I’ll be able to fit into it,” Kristy answered half jokingly, half truthfully.

Gigi pinched Kristy’s side, “Hmm…I see someone’s getting a bit chunky,” she laughed.

“Oww…” whined Kristy, she pinched Gigi, “Well you’re too skinny.”

“Hey, stop that,” laughed Gigi.

“Fine, truce,” agreed Kristy.

Gigi linked arms with Kristy and they started walking, “Remember when me you and Rubes were little?” Gigi asked.

“Ya,” replied Kristy.

“We said when we grew up, we’ll still be best friends no matter what, and that our kids will be best friends too,” announced Gigi. “Ruby’s pregnant, with two babies due in about April. You and Louis are going get hitched soon, and start a family of your own. Where does this leave me? Poor old lonely Gigi Lai?”

“Don’t think like that Gi,” Kristy said. “You’ll find your knight. Then you’ll have a family soon too…”

Gigi shook her head, “You know what the doctor said about that incident, how it affected me.”

“He said maybe, that’s why you have to take good care of your body. How are our kids going to be best friends if you don’t?” Kristy asked.

Gigi smiled weakily.

“Come,” Kristy said, grabbing Gigi’s arm and pulling her somewhere.

“Where are we going Kris?” Gigi asked.

“Herbalist store, maybe it’ll have something that could help you, you know, make you better faster, and get you off those damn painkillers for good,” Kristy announced pulling Gigi into a herb shop, which had a deep, sensuous smell of all the ancient medicine.

Gigi coughed a bit, “Just smelling it alone, makes me all better, let’s go,” Gigi insisted.

“Oh come on,” Kristy said.

The herbalist was an old man, he had made Gigi sit down in front of him, he checked her pulse, then studied her tongue, and eyelids. He stopped and wrote her a prescription. “You’ve been taking an overdose of painkillers lately, instead of healing your wound for good it’s making it worst. If you hadn’t found out sooner, it could’ve gotten infected,” he said.

“So what does that mean?” Kristy asked, even before Gigi had a chance to respond.

He handed Gigi the piece of paper, “Take this to the front desk, my apprentice will get you what you need,” he said.

“Thank you,” both girls said.

“You, sit down,” he demanded of Kristy.

Kristy sat down.

“Now give me your wrist,” he said.

Kristy handed him her right wrist, and watched his facial expression, he had a frown on his face and was nodding his head continuously. He stopped, letting go of her wrist, “Congratulations,” he announced.

“For what?” Kristy asked.

“You’re two months pregnant, the baby is doing well, growing at a healthy speed,” he declared.

“B…baby?” Kristy mumbled.

The old man nodded, “Is a joyous day for you and your family, no?” he asked.

Kristy looked up and saw Gigi.

“Oh my god, you’re pregnant?” Gigi asked, in complete shock. “How?”

Kristy sat completely still absorbing the news.

“Miss…” the old man called. “MISS!”

“Huh?” Kristy asked.

“That’ll be $25.00,” he announced.

“Uh...yeah right,” Kristy said handing him the money. She stood up and grabbed Gigi’s arm, “Let’s go,” she said still dazed. They walked along the streets not knowing where to go for a few minutes.

“Kris…” Gigi called.

“I’m pregnant,” Kristy mumbled.

“Kristy,” Gigi called once again.

She looked at Gigi.

“How…no….Who…no…When did this happen?” Gigi asked out of curiosity.

Kristy looked at her best friend, “Around the time when Jessica was in the hospital, it impacted Louis a lot, he drank a lot. I was there to “comfort,” him,” she said emphasizing the word comfort.

Gigi was silent for a while, “So are you going to tell Louis? Or accept his proposal now?” Gigi asked.

“I don’t want him to think, I’m only marrying him because I’m carrying his child,” said Kristy.

“Then don’t,” answered Gigi. “Don’t tell me you weren’t thinking about it before you knew.”

Kristy was silent, she looked at her reflection in a store window, and softly touched the ring Louis had given her. “He’s not going to like me, last time, he was already teasing me because I gained a few pounds,” said Kristy.

Gigi laughed, “But I bet he loves you like hell,” said Gigi. “And besides it is his fault after all,” she giggled.

Kristy rolled her eyes, “Gi, you can be so childish sometimes.”

“Come on let’s go, you, me and that god-child of mine,” said Gigi, “I’ll treat you to more food.”

Kristy smiled, “I am still a bit hungry.”

“Of course, you’re eating for two now,” Gigi said waving both her index and middle finger up at Kristy. “I can’t wait to tell everyone!”

“You keep that flapper of yours such Gigi Lai,” Kristy warned.

Gigi pretended to zip her mouth, and nodded.

~New Zealand~

“Sis get up, you’ve been home for three weeks, get up and go to work,” Tavia said shaking Teresa, trying to get her to get up. But nothing seemed to work. “She sleeps like a log,” she thought. “SIS!” Tavia yelled in her ear.

Teresa pushed her away with what little strength she had in the morning. “Let me sleep,” she mumbled. “Or I’ll…”

“…beat the shit out of you,” continued Tavia, “What else is new. Get up Teresa! I made you French toast!”

Teresa could smell the scrumptious aroma of French toast in the air, and miraculously she got out of bed.

Her father, and Tavia had helped her, discover part of the reason why she came here and leased a shop across the street. It was because she wanted to open her pet clinic here. It’s been four weeks since her accident, somehow, Tavia had gained her trust, but Teresa still had a desire to beat her father or any guy in that matter to death. She had three weeks to prepare her clinic, and its been opened for one week already. Tavia was also into helping animals, so became her part time secretary/ part time nurse.

It was a slow day today at her office, not many people came in. Seems like no one’s pet, was sick or anything.

When suddenly at quarter to two, a woman and little girl ran into the clinic, the little girl was crying.

“What happened?” Teresa asked.

“Someone hit my puppy and then ran away,” she sobbed.

“It’s okay, let me take care of him,” Teresa said patting the girls’ head and picking up the dog, taking him into the check up room.

After a long period of time Teresa came out, “You’re puppy is fine,” she assured the girl. “He just needs to stay the night.”

“Thank you doctor Teresa, you saved Tae’s life!” she announced.

Teresa stopped and thought about that name, “Tae,” she mumbled. That name brought a familiar warm feeling to her heart. She looked at the little girl. “Have we met?” she asked.

“Thank you Dr. Mak, you’re a life saver, she’s gotten so attached to the little guy if anything ever happened to him, she’d be heartbroken,” the mother spoke.

Teresa looked at the mother and daughter in confusion.

“I had no idea when I entered that this was your clinic,” said the lady. “I don’t know if you remember me or not, but we’re regulars at your old, closed clinic in HK, we’re only here for a vacation,” said the lady.

“You remember me and Tae don’t you?” the little girl asked. “You’re the one who named my puppy after your boyfriend.”

“I have a boyfriend?” Teresa asked herself.

“What she meant was your gentleman friend,” the woman corrected.

“You say I was in HK before?” Teresa asked. “And I closed the clinic?”

“You weren’t there to close it, your secretary said you left in a rush only leaving some cash and a note behind,” said the woman. “Look at the time it’s getting late, I need to meet someone for supper.”

“Good day,” said Teresa. “You can pick Tae up anytime tomorrow.”

They nodded and left.

“Sis, what’s wrong?” Tavia asked.

“That name…it…it brings back so many mixed emotions, you know?” Teresa asked.

Tavia shook her head. “Maybe you knew someone named Tae,” she suggested. “Do you want to go back to HK?” Tavia asked.

Teresa shook her head, “I just got settled here, opening the clinic and all, its too soon to leave.”

“What if there is someone waiting for you back there?” Tavia asked.

“If there was, why did I even bother leaving?” Teresa replied.

“I’ll be here behind you 100% sis,” Tavia said.

Teresa smiled and nodded a thanks.

~London~

“Eddie!” Ruby shrieked loudly from the kitchen.

Edison heard a plate break, then Ruby call him, he was just getting out of the shower and he only had briefs on, he immediately dropped everything and ran to her aid, afraid something happened to his beloved. “Ruby!” he called running towards her. He entered the kitchen, breathlessly, finding Ruby leaning against the dining table and rubbing her stomach, she had tears of joys in her eyes. “What happened?” he asked.

“Come here,” Ruby said waving him over.

Edison approached her, and placed his arm around her back, “What’s wrong sweetie?”

“Give me your hand,” Ruby said.

Edison held out his hand.

Ruby placed his hand on her stomach.

Edison just looked at her confusingly. “What’s wrong?” he asked.

“You feel it?” Ruby asked.

“Feel what?” Edison question, just then he felt something move inside her stomach. He looked at her and smiled.

“You feel it now?” Ruby asked.

Edison smiled, he moved his head against Ruby’s stomach. “Wow…” he laughed, feeling the little kicks every now and then. “What do you think they’re doing?” asked Edison. “Are you fighting?” Edison asked, poking Ruby’s stomach lightly.

“They better not,” laughed Ruby. “No fighting you hear me,” she said in a gentle motherly tone, poking her stomach.

Edison wrapped his arms around her waist, with his face still pressed against Ruby’s stomach. “Aww…my little guys already fighting, growing every day, nice and strong too,” he chuckled, “Ouch…” he laughed, “One of them kicked my face…”

“Ed, let go of me,” laughed Ruby.

“No, you called me here first,” replied Edison, “I ain’t going anywhere, babe,” he said kissing her stomach.
