"Girls, please take a seat," replied the woman.
"Aunt Stacey, what's going on??" asked Kristy.
Yes this woman was Stacey Cheung. She was a close friend to the family and Gigi's aunt. They've known her for years.
She was also the vice principal of the school.
"There was a bank robbery, at the First National Bank down on Main...and...your," she was cut off by Ruby again.
"Ya and your point being??" asked Ruby. Ruby never liked Stacey, the woman seemed to close to her father.
"Well, your mother was currently at the same bank at the moment. She got tangled up in the mess and...and," replied Stacey trying to hold back tears.
"WHAT MY MOTHER?? WHAT HAPPENED! WHAT HAPPENNED TO MY MOTHER!" yelled Ruby.
"BE QUIET AND LET HER SPEAK!" demanded Kristy.
Stacey continued, "Your mother was shot. She's in the hospital right now. I'll take you girls there now!"
Ruby grabbed Kristy's arm and raced outside towards the parking lot. "Will you hurry up!" she yelled at Stacey. "Which one's your car?" The all jumped into her yellow buggy and sped to the hospital.

~At the Hospital~
"Teddy...I... love you. I...I want you to take good care of Kristy and...Ruby," begged Lizzy.
"No don't say it, you're going to be fine! You're going to make it through this. You promised that you'd never leave me! Don't go back on your word!" pleaded Ted.
"I won't ever leave you...I'll always be with as long as you still love me. I'll watch over you from heaven," replied Lizzy who was coughing horribly.
"No you can't go you have to see our girls, our beautiful girls grow up, go on their first date, get married, have children! They need their mother! Lizzy Please don't leave us," cried Ted bursting into tears, "I can't live without you!"
"You must, for the girls' sake, for your sake, for my sake! I want you to live and be happy. Do what you think is right! You know you made me very happy. I'm the luckiest woman in this world." answered Lizzy trying to hold back the pain.
"No, I didn't do anything. It was all you, you're the one that made me the happiest man there ever was," exclaimed Ted.
(The girls and Stacey enter the room.)
"I was just a girl who had no parents. A girl who grew up in The Chan Orphanage in Hong Kong. I was just your seceratary. But you the rich Ted Yang loved me chose me out of all those other prettier girls," Lizzy said recalling her memories.
"Because you were the prettiest of them all and you still are!" replied Ted with a smile.
"You're still as sweet as ever, you haven't lost your charm. You can still make any girl smile, even at a time like this," teased Lizzy. Lizzy began coughing non-stop.
The doctor entered, "Mr. Yang can I have a word with you in my office??"
Ted nodded. HE looked at his beloved wife and kissed her forehead. "I'll be back soon. Wait for me," he said, and left.

~In the Doctor's Office~
"Tell me what's wrong with my wife!" demanded Ted.
"Well, the bullet wouldn't have harmed her much..." said the doctor but was cut off by Ted.
"So she's going to be okay??" asked Ted eyes filled with hope.
"To tell you the truth, because of your wife's weak heart she can't survive through this very moment. It's a surprise that she even survived after being shot. I guess she wants accomplish her last requests," replied the doctor. "We are very sorry, we tried our best."
"YOUR BEST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH! NOW IS IT?? YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT MY WIFE CAN DIE ANY MOMENT NOW!!!" shouted Ted.
The doctor answered with a nodd.
Ted ran as fast as he could back into Lizzy's room.

~Back In The Room~
"Mommy are you going to be alright??" asked Kristy.
"Kristy...my beautiful Kristy... can you promise mommy something?" Lizzy asked.
"Anything mommy! You know I can do anything for you just don't leave me," Kristy sobbed.
"Kristy, after I'm gone I want you to take good care of your father and Ruby for me, keep them on the right track. Promise me that you will live life to the fullest don't waste it away indoors, try new and different things. And don't be serious all the time," Lizzy told Kristy.
Ruby ran beside her mother and cried, "Mommy i'm not going to let you go anywhere, you have to stay with me forever. Mommy you can't go, no one understands me but you!"
"That's not true it just seems like I'm the only one that understands you, but I'm not," Lizzy begins to laugh. "You girls know why I understand you so well, it's because you both are exactly like me when I was younger. Kristy's got some of my personality and looks, and so do you," begins coughing again. "Ruby you need to become more understanding and less arrogant like your father."
Both girls cry like crazy saying "Mom we need you!"
Lizzy takes out two heart shaped lockets. One has and R engraved on it the other has a K. "Here I bought these for you two as early birthday gifts. When you open it up there is a picture of me, daddy and the two of you, it's our family. So no matter where you are everyone is still by yourside. Remember I will always love you no matter what, and nothing can ever stop me from caring for you. Just promise me that you'd look out for each other."
"We promise!" said Ruby and Kristy.
~Ted runs in~
"Lizzy," runs to her side, "Lizzy don't go!"
"Hey Teddy, take care of the girls for me, they need you now more than ever," Lizzy tried saying as cheerfully as possible.
"NO!" Ted shook his head.
"I...I love all three of you," Lizzy declared with her last ounce of strength.
"MOM! MOM! WAKE UP! DON'T SLEEP!" cried Ruby. Ruby turned around and found Kristy on the floor. She ran to her sister's side, "KRIS you okay?? Kris you hear me? Don't you sleep to!" shouted Ruby, "DOCTOR!"
"Don't worry your sister just fainted under too much stress and grief," replied the doctor.
"Thank you," answered Ruby. She stayed with Kristy till she awoke.
They both starred at their father, Ted held tightly onto his lovely wife's hand. She has truly gone. She's left him. He has no one left to share his joy, his sorrows with...no that was not true, he has his daughters. They're all he has left.
"Lizzy if you can hear me, I promise to take good care of the girls, I won't let you down," he vowed.

~Two years later~ girls are 10
+Infront of Lizzy's tombstone+
"Lizzy, I promised you that I'd take care of the girls, annd I'm doing my best. It's just Ruby...I just don't understand that girl, so stubborn, so hard headed. Just like me, huh? And Kristy... the doctors say there may be a chance that she has a heart problem, but there aren't any signs yet. The good news is I've found a new companion to share the rest of my life with, it's Stacey, she helped me through a lot of rough times. I decided to marry her. No matter what I still love you!" spoke Ted to the tombstone of his deceased wife.
~Later that night~
"YOU WHAT??" screamed Ruby.
"I'm going to marry Stacey." replied Ted.
"WHY??" she questioned.
"I need a companion to share my feelings with!" answered Ted.
"Oh so what are your daughters for?" she yelled.
"You girls aren't going to live here forever, what happens when you move out?" stated Ted.
"We're 10 years old! We aren't going to move out anytime soon!" complained Kristy.
"Well by then I won't be able to attract any girls!" joked Ted.
"A COMPANION?? COMPANION? GET A TURTLE, THEY LIVE FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS!" exclaimed Ruby.
"You expect me to live with a turtle for the rest of my life?" questioned Ted.
"What about Mom??" asked Kristy.
"I still love her, but I need to move on with my life. Stacey is a lovely lady and would make a great mom," said Ted.
"BULLSHIT! I don't need another mother! My mother is Lizzy Lin! I don't need that bitch to be my mother!" screamed Ruby.
"RUBY!" yelled Ted as he slapped Ruby, "Who taught you to talk like that! Go to your room!"
"You don't love me, you' don't love mom! I hate you!" cried Ruby as she ran into her room and locked the door.
Kristy was in shock her father had never hit her or Ruby. He's changed! May be Ruby was right their father has forgotten about mom, and doesn't love them anymore. These things kept repeating over and over in her mind. She eventually fainted.

~TWO DAYS LATER~
Kristy's POV
I opened my eyes, the walls were all white, the room was so bare, only the basic things are in here, a bed, a study table and a bathroom. I was in the guest room.
Father was sitting in a chair by my bed, he looks awfully tired. He shifted in the chair and awoke. "Kristy, my baby, you're awake! You scared me half to death!" he scolded as he wrapped his armsss around me. "Kristy don't you ever do that to me again you here me?? I can't bear to lose you! You're all I have left!"
What did he mean? "Where's Ruby?" was my immediate reaction.
"She ran away! It's all my fault I shouldn't have yelled at her, I shouldn't have hit her!" Father said with grief and shame in his voice.
I've never seen him like this before only when mom died. Can Ruby really be gone? I hope not. "Dad, she's probably just hiding. Just wait for her to cool down," I said. I tried to convince myself that, that's what's happening. Ruby will be back soon I hope.
For the next few days we searched high and low for my sister. Where can she be? I tried to keep a smile on my face but it was so hard without Ruby. Why didn't she wait for me?
~End of Kristy's POV~
While rummaging through Ruby's things, Kristy found a letter. She instantly knew it was from Ruby.
Dear Kris,
I'm running away from home. Don't blame me for leaving you. It's just that you fainted and I knew you wouldn't coume and you would try to stop me. Kris we promised Mom to look after Dad, even though I say I hate him he's still my dad. Take good care of him. Get well soon. I don't know when I'm coming back, I might never come back

ME! your sister Ruby.

"She's really gone," cried Kristy. Everyone important in her life keep on leaving her. She vows that she will find Ruby one day.

Ruby's POV
It's so crowded and stuffy here! It smells too! I slowly crwled out of the crate I was hiding in. This bunch of crago is going to Hong Kong. I'm going to live there for the rest of my life. I'm never coming back. I can go stay at The Chan Orphanage just like mom whhen she was little. I'm an orphan now. I have nobody left.
+++3 days later+++
I actually ran away from home! I miss Kristy! She's the only person left that cares for me! Dad's probably looking for me. Why should he care he has Stacey now, he doesn't need me. I should change my name, from now on I'm Ruby Lin, not Ruby Yang!
~End of Ruby's POV~
The tires on the cargo truck screeched. In a flash two cars rammed into the truck. The driver died during the sudden crash. Ruby was stuck in the little cargo crate. she bumped her head on something hard and blacked out.

Kristy woke up screaming, with a throbbing headache. She didn't know what happened.

~At Hong Kong General Hospital~
The 10 year old girl slowly awoke. "Little girl do you know where you are?"
"Well you look like a doctor's helper person, and this place looks like a hospital, so I must be in the hospital, DUH!!"
"Alright, what is your name?" asked the trainee.
"What's your's?" asked Ruby.
"Joyce Tang," replied the trainee, "you?"
"I'm..I'm...aww my head hurts! I'm Ruby...Lin....and I'm an orphan now. No one's left to love me everyone's gone." replied Ruby holding her head in her hands.
"Do you remember anything else?" asked Joyce.
"umm....awww...no I don't!" replied Ruby, "Wait!....Ummm...something about The Chan Orphanage...I think I belong there!"
"I'll have it checked out for you okay? Rest now Ruby!" said Joyce.
"Why can't I remember anything?" she asked herself all night. Ruby slowly shuut her eyes and slept.
