(Joyce went of to Taiwan to study on a medical scholarship two years ago.)
"Morning Vicki, where's everybody else?" asked Benny.
"Ruby and Teresa are still sleeping. I can't believe we found someone who loves to sleep as much as Ruby," laughed Vicki. "Jessica went to the hospital to visit Grandma Hsuan, and Annie went to the arcade with Louis, Dicky and Tae," Vicki finished.
"So what are you up to this morning?" asked Benny.
"Oh me? Same old, same old. Nothing," replied Vicki.
"Oh since Vicki isn't busy, would she mind going grocery shopping for tonight's dinner, she can keep the change and use it for whatever she wants!" bribed Benny.
"Alright!" she agreed with out hesitation. "What are we having tonight?"
"My specialty, spaghetti and meatballs," announced Benny.
"Yum, my favorite! I haven't had that for months!" exclaimed Vicki as she eats the last of her cereal.
"That's because we have a budget to stick to Vicki, here's $155.00 go grocery shopping," said Benny as he handed her the money. Within a minute Vicki was out of sight.
"Vicky, remember there are 45 mouths to feed!" yelled Benny, but Vicki was already gone.
Benny sat down and sighed, he looked at the house and all the bills he had to pay. ~Upstairs~
In the girl's room, everything was a mess. There were clothes here and there, schoolbags and homework, on the floor. All five beds were pushed together because the girls had a slumber party the night before, celebrating March Break.
Ruby slept peacefully on the beds. She had a habit of hugging things, squishing things with her legs and hogging the blanket.
Teresa was a deep sleeper, nothing could ever wake her up, that's why she usually slept beside Ruby. That was also the reason why everybody usually got up so early. Teresa slept on top of the blankets.
Ruby suddenly felt a cool breeze, she pulled Teresa's blanket to cover herself, but it was stuck. Ruby gave it one hard pull and finally got it. The next thing she heard was a loud, "THUG!" and a loud moan, something had fallen off the bed.
"Owwwwww!!!" cried Teresa lying on the floor rubbing her bum.
"WHAT HAPPENED!" asked a startled Ruby.
"AWW! Ruby I think you broke my butt!" exclaimed Teresa in pain.
Ruby giggled, Ruby suddenly had a flashback. She saw the girl in her locket, sitting in the same position as Teresa, and saying the exact same thing. "Who was this girl? Why can't I remember her?" Ruby asked herself holding her head.
Teresa got up and sat on the bed with Ruby, "Are you all right?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little headache! Don't worry Kristy!" Ruby reassured her friend.
"Ruby are you okay?" Teresa asked again.
"Ya, I'm fine!" she replied. "Why?"
"Well cause you just called me Kristy," Teresa answered.
"Did I?" she asked. "Who's Kristy?"
"You're asking me?" replied Teresa.
"Forget it let's go eat, I'm hungry!" exclaimed Ruby.
"Me too!" yelled Teresa. "Is that the only reason we wake up in the morning?"
"Yup, eat, sleep, and have fun! That's my motto!" replied Ruby.
"Amen sister!" agreed Teresa.
For two years, every now and then Ruby would have images of people she might have known before, but don't recognize, pop into her mind, for no apparent reason. She didn't bother thinking about it much because it only occurred rarely.

~Grocery Shopping with Vicki~
"Hmmm…let's see I need vegetables, pasta, meat balls, ground beef and…what else!" thought Vicki out loud.
"The sauce," answered a very beautiful woman, in her mid-thirties.
"Thank you miss!" Vicki thanked the woman and gave her, her best smile.
Vicki gathered her things, paid for it and left. As she was heading towards the parking lot, towards her bike, she notices the beautiful woman again stumbling with her groceries. Vicki decided to go help her. She placed her bags in the basket of her bike and ran off to aid the lady. When she approached the lady, Vicki notices a large car speeding towards the lady. Vicki's instincts took over, she ran to the lady and pushed her out of the way, but got hit in the process. The woman was surprised, and shocked all at once, she quickly called for an ambulance, that took Vicki to the hospital. The woman prayed for Vicki to be alright.

Not to far from the parking lot was the arcade. Annie was busy fighting with Louis on the Street Fighters 2, game. There was lots of cheering going on in the arcade. Both kids had broken the high score record for most combos. Most people were cheering for Louis because held the high scores for most of the games at the arcade, he was known as the king of games. Annie was determined to beat Louis , she wasn't going to let him win that easily. The tension was high. Who was going to win Louis or Annie?
All of a sudden a loud car horn beeped, and a woman screamed. The crowd in the arcade disappeared outside. Louis and Annie were to into the game to realize what was taking place.
The crowds soon re-entered the arcade. "Some girl got hit by a car, trying to save some lady," gossiped a couple of nearby guys, who were watching the game.
Dicky and Tae went out to see what was going on. They couldn't believe there eyes, Vicki was laying unconscious on the ground. They pushed through the crowd but couldn't get through.
They rushed back inside the arcade, finding Annie and Louis disappointed. "I almost bet him! Except that stupid machine had to blow up!" complained Annie.
"HA! You beat me? Not in a million years!" exclaimed Louis.
"I bet you I can beat you at any game here!" declared Annie.
"Ha, in your dreams maybe!" laughed Louis.
Annie yelled, "WHY YOU…"
"Will you two SHUT UP!" yelled Dicky.
The two fell silent.
"Hurry outside! Vicki's been hit by a car!" exclaimed Tae.
"WHAT!" cried Annie, she ran outside and pushed through the crowds, the guys followed. When they reached her, the paramedics had already, placed her in the ambulance and began to drive off. "Wait!" cried Annie chasing after the ambulance. "That's my friend! Wait!" but the ambulance was long gone. Annie ran as fast as her little legs can carry her back home.

~At the Hospital~
"How are you grandma?" asked Jessica.
"I'm fine dear, how are you and your friends?" she replied.
"Oh, Ruby and Teresa are still as lazy as ever, Annie is still as hyper as ever and Vicki still as nice as ever," Jessica said with a smile.
Grandma Hsuan began coughing, "Let me go get you a cup of water!" offered Jessica, her grandma just nodded her head in agreement.
When Jessica returned to the room with the water, she was nearly runned over by a bunch of paramedics, pushing a bed with a girl a lot like Vicki on it. Jessica dropped the water and ran after them.

~At Home~
"You girls finally decided to join us for breakfast? Oh wait it's lunch time now!" declared Benny, as the two girls entered the kitchen yawning.
The girls just smiled and took their seats at the table. "Where is everybody?" questioned Teresa.
"Ummm…Jesse went to visit her grandma like every other Saturday morning, Annie went with Louis, Dicky and Tae to the arcade and I sent Vicki out to by groceries 45 minutes ago she should be back soon." answered Benny.
"And nobody even bothered to wake us up?" asked Ruby.
"Well not after what happened last time, we tried. Teresa, you gave Tae a bloody nose, while Ruby kicked Dicky in the stomach. I think everyone is afraid to wake you girls up now!" laughed Benny.
"Humph!!" said both Ruby and Teresa.
The front door swung open, Annie ran in, "Vicki…Vicki!" screamed Annie, who was out of breath.
Behind her were three out of shaped boys.
"Breath, Annie, breath. What happened to Vicki?" asked Benny.
"Vicky…Vicky was…" said Annie who was about to cry.
"Vicky was hit by a car and was taken to the hospital!" exclaimed Tae.
"WHAT???" shouted Benny, Ruby and Teresa.
Benny grabbed his keys, while the kids jumped into his van. The drove to the hospital. Everyone was worried about Vicki.

~At the Hospital~
Jessica was talking to the woman that Vicki saved. "I don't know why that brave little girl saved me, I don't even know her, we just met. I only reminded her to get sauce. Why would she save me? Why did she risk her life?" cried the woman.
"My friend Vicki is like that, if you're nice to her she'll be nice to you," explained Jessica.
"I don't know what to say to her parents if anything happened to her," sobbed the woman.
"You don't have to worry about that, Mrs. Lin, Vicki's an orphan," replied Jessica trying to ease the woman's pain.
But it only made her feel worst. "Oh why must God be so cruel, that girl is so kind-hearted and brave why must He take away her family?" she asked.
Benny, Ruby, Teresa, Annie, Louis, Tae and Dicky came running down the hospital hall. They spotted Jessica and ran up to her. "Jesse, how's Vicki?" asked Benny.
"Uncle Benny, the doctors are checking up on her," replied Jessica.
Mrs. Lin just starred at Benny. Benny noticed her starring and studied her features carefully. "Oh my God! Jenny? Is that you?" Benny exclaimed.
"BENNY!" she screamed in joy. The two embraced in a hug.
"Daddy, you know her?" asked Annie.
"Benny is that Annie's daughter?" asked Mrs. Lin. Benny nodded. (Annie was named after her mother, Annie Man. Her mother died during labor).
"You knew my mother?" asked Annie.
"She's one of your mother's best friend. We grew up together," answered Benny. "Jenn, guess who that is," said Benny pointing to Louis.
"Don't tell me, it's Bobby's son," said Jenny. Benny nodded again. "When did he…" asked Jenny with tears in her eyes.
"13 years ago," answered Benny.
"You knew Louis' dad too?" Annie asked.
"Yes dear, me, your mother, your father, Bobby Koo, Stacey Cheung and Lizzy Lin, all grew up in the orphanage and we were all best friends," answered Jenny. The mention of Lizzy Lin, made Mrs. Lin think of something, she asked, "Benny did you hear about Lizzy?"
"No," Benny replied curiously, "Last time I heard from her was about 13 years ago, when she had her twins, Kristy and Ruby. Why?"
Ruby heard her name mentioned and looked up. Everyone looked at her. She replied, "What? Lots of people have the same name."
Jenny ignored Benny's last question.
"Jenny! What happened to Lizzy?" asked Benny once again.
"Five years ago on January 5th, Lizzy was caught up in a bank robbery, she was accidentally shot and because of her weak heart she…she past away," answered Jenny.
"How's Ted?" asked Benny.
"He re-married two years later," replied Jenny.
"HE WHAT???" exclaimed Benny.
"He married Stacey," said Jenny.
"STACEY CHEUNG?" screamed Benny. Annie looked scared her father never screamed this loud before. Benny relaxed a bit, and asked, "So, how are the girls?"
Jenny shook her head. "You know Stacey's changed for the best!" said Jenny trying to change the subject..
Benny ignored her and asked, "What's wrong with the girls?"
"I just found out all this a year ago, when James and I, along with my son Jimmy moved to Taiwan," she paused. "I've met Kristy, she's a lot like Lizzy. Very pretty, and polite too. I heard her sister, Ruby is even more like Lizzy, almost an exact replica," she continued.
"What do you mean you heard? Haven't you met Ruby?" asked Benny. Lizzy was like a sister to him. Her problems were his problems.
Jenny nodded, "Kristy said after Ted announced his engagement to her and Ruby, Ruby got upset. Ted said that he needed a companion to share his life with. Someone who will be around after the girls move out. Ruby told him to get a turtle because turtles live up to a hundred years. Ted said Stacey would make a great mother. This pushed Ruby over the top. She got upset and called Stacey a b**ch, Ted got angry and slapped her. Kristy said Ruby got angry and ran to her room. That was the last time Kristy said she ever saw Ruby again. They've been searching for her for more than two years already almost three, but still no sign." explained Jenny.
"Sounds even more stubborn and hard headed than Lizzy, doesn't she? Well if she's anything like Lizzy, she'll be alright." chuckled Benny.
The kids just stood there and listened to the conversation. All these names and incidents confused them. Especially Ruby, it gave her a migraine.
"How's the orphanage?" asked Jenny trying to change the subject.
It was now Benny's turn to sigh. "Not to good, we're nearly broke. Our allowance is getting lower and lower."
"Is there anything I can do?' asked Jenny.
"I don't know!" replied Benny.
~Two hours later~
"How's Vicki?" asked Benny.
"She'll be fine, in a couple of days, we still need to keep her over night to run some tests." replied the doctor.
"Can we see her?" asked Annie.
"Go ahead," replied the doctor.
Everyone rushed into see Vicki.
"Hey girls!" Vicki greeted them.
"A-Hem!" said the guys.
"And guys!" corrected Vicki.
"How you feeling?" asked Ruby.
"Awful! I don't like staying here! Can I go home now?" asked Vicki.
"Sorry, Vicki but doctor said they need to run a few more tests on you," answered Benny.
"NO! I want to go home! I don't want to stay in here!" cried Vicki.
"Daddy can we stay with her?" asked Annie.
"I'm sorry, but only one person is allowed to stay with Vicki tonight, and you girls are still too young," said Benny.
"I'll stay with her,” suggested Jenny.
"You're the nice lady who helped me right?" asked Vicki.
"If you're referring to the person you saved then yes I am, my name is Jenny Lin. You can call me Aunt Jenny if you want." she replied with a smile.
Vicky saw warmth in Mrs. Lin's smile.
~That Night~
Vicki and Mrs. Lin chatted all night long. They had a lot in common. They felt right being with each other. There was some kind of connection between them.
"Vicki, do you ever wish that you had a family, like a mom, a dad and a brother?" asked Jenny.
"That's every kid's wish at the orphanage," said Vicki.
"Vicki, you know, I feel a strong bond between you and I. Vicki I want to adopt you, and make you part of my family. How does that sound?" she asks.
"I'd love for you to be my mom, but I don't want to leave my friends," replied Vicki.
"You can come back and visit any time you want," said Jenny.
"Really?" Vicki asks.
Jenny nodded.
"Thanks…mom!" said Vicki with tears in her eyes.

~Couple Days Later~
"Thanks Jenn!" thanked Benny, as Jenny handed him large donation for the orphanage.
"No problem, it's the least I could do," replied Jenny. "I did grow up here!"
"When are you two leaving?" asked Benny.
"Tomorrow morning," she replied.
"It's a shame to Vicki go, she's always been the most responsible one of those girls, I don't know how, we're going to handle them now that Vicki's left," answered Benny.
Vicki, who was there, giggled.
"Vicki's the most responsible? I don't really see that," said Jenny.
"Well comparing her to Annie, Jessica, Teresa and Ruby, Vicki was the most…ummm…what's the word?" asked Benny, "...tamed!"
"Uncle Benny, what do you mean by tamed? I'm not a wild animal, I don't need to be tamed!" Vicki announced.
"Hahaha! You sound a lot like Ruby right now!!" laughed Benny. "Hmmm those two years seemed to have flown by, without my knowing."
"Where are my friends? I haven't seen them all day," asked Vicki.
"I really don't know!" replied Benny, "I think Ruby's upstairs in her room."
Vicki ran upstairs to find her friend. She entered the room and found Ruby crying.
"Ruby, what's wrong?" asked Vicki all worried.
"You're leaving tomorrow, why wouldn't I cry!" announce Ruby.
"Aww Ruby don't cry. If you cry I'm going to cry. I don't want to leave you guys, but I feel a connection, a close bond between Mrs. Lin and I," replied Vicki.
"I'm not crying cause of that!" yelled Ruby in tears.
"Then why are you crying?" asked a confused Vicki.
"Because I'm so happy for you!" declared Ruby.
At that moment, Jessica, Annie, Teresa, Dicky, Louis and Tae jumped out of there closet and yelled, "SURPRISE!"
"WHAT?" exclaimed an even more confused Vicki.
"We're throwing you a going away party," said Annie excitedly.
"Yeah! And rich too!" added Dicky.
"We're so glad that we can finally get rid of you!" declared Louis. Tae punched him in the gut.
Vicki felt so abandoned now, she was trying to hold back her tears. Did they really want her to go??
"SHUT UP LOUIS!" yelled all four girls.
"Vicki don't take this the wrong way!" exclaimed Teresa.
"We're glad you've found a nice home, Mrs. Lin seems like a very nice person," explained Jessica.
"We know you'll be happy with her!" added Annie.
"Vic, we love you and we don't want to lose you, but we also want what's best for you," said Ruby trying to hold back her tears.
"YEAH! And it's not like you're never coming back!" declared Jessica. "You're going to visit, aren't you?"
"Of course I am!" said Vicki, while wiping away a tear drop that escaped for her eyes. "It's just that I'm going to miss you guys so much!" she cried.
"We're going to miss you too!" cried Annie as she hugged Vicki.
"What if the people in Taiwan don't like me?" sobbed Vicki.
"You can always come back!" announced Tae. Everyone nodded their head.
"Vicki, tell us if anyone picks on you! We'll beat them up for you!" promised Dicky pointing to Louis and Tae, who nodded in agreement.
"Me too!" shouted Teresa and Annie.
"V, everyone's going to love you!" said Jessica.
"Just don't cry, like you did when you first came here!" announced Louis.
Jessica slapped Louis' back, and said, "Vicki, just be yourself! You're a great person."
Ruby finally spoke up, "Vicki, no matter where you go you'll always be part of our family, because we're all that each other have left. We're a family. Don't forget us," reminded Ruby.
"Ya, Vic, take care of yourself, I don't want to lose a great sister like you," said Louis sincerely.
"Oh Louis you like me! You really, really like me!" said Vicki.
"Vicki, man you got to stop hanging around with Annie and Ruby you sound exactly like them!" announced Louis.
"And that's a bad thing?" asked Ruby giving him attitude.
Louis just sighed.
"Don't worry I'll never forget you guys." said Vicki as she pulled everyone in for a group hug.
That night the girls threw a slumber party dedicated to Vicki, they stayed up all night chatting and laughing.
~The Next day At the Airport~
"Bye Jenny, it was nice seeing you again. Give my love to Kristy. Tell her to stay strong, that's what her mother would want!" said Benny.
"Bye Benny, keep up the good work, these are really great kids. They'll be very successful when they grow up," said Jenny.
"Bye Vicki, we'll miss you," cried Annie.
"V, remember, to be yourself!" added Jessica.
"Visit soon," sobbed Teresa.
"Don't forget us!" said Dicky.
"Live long and prosper!" joked Louis.
"Take care," added the quiet Tae.
"Vicki, remember we all love you because you're you! Just be yourself and so will everyone else." said Ruby as she bid farewell to her friend.
Vicki hugged each of her friends. Vicki and Mrs. Lin soon entered the gate to board their plane and to begin their new life.
