~At Taiwan International Airport~

"So dad did you and mom really adopt some girl from Hong Kong?" asked 14 year old Jimmy.

"Yes your mother said, this girl, Vicki, is very brave and kind-hearted. You know she saved your mother's life," answered James Lin.

"Is she older or younger than me?" asked Jimmy.

"She's 13 years old, same age as your friend Alec's sister," replied James. "Remember she's part of the family now, so BE NICE!"

"Ya, ya I will, she did save mom's life, of course I'll be nice," said Jimmy.

Walking into the airport, Vicki was asking her mother, questions. "Mrs. Lin…ummm…I mean mom, will your family like me?"

"Of course dear, they'd love you," replied Jenny.

A fairly good looking man and a young boy about 14 years old approached them. "Honey, you're back I missed you," greeted the man as he hugged Mrs. Lin.

"Mom, you're back!" exclaimed the boy as he gave his mother a kiss on the cheek.

"James darling this is your new daughter Vicki," announced Jenny.

"Wow, what a pretty young lady we have here, I like her already," said James.

"Hi Mr. Lin," greeted Vicki.

"No, that's too formal, we're a family now, call me dad!" said James.

"Alright…dad," corrected Vicki.

"Vicki dear, this is your brother Jimmy," told Jenny.

"Hi," greeted Vicki.

"Hey, welcome to the family," Jimmy said, offering out his hand, for a hand shake.

Vicki thought to herself, "These people aren't too bad!"

"Mom, dad and I have arranged a party, to welcome Vicki into our family, tonight," answered Jimmy.

"Splendid idea!" exclaimed Jenny.

"Yeah," said Vicki trying to sound excited. "Oh my gosh, I didn't think I'd have to make a first imperssion so soon. I'm not ready!" Vicki thought to herself.

Jimmy noticed her expression and whispered, "Just be yourself. There's just going to be a bunch of adults, they don't really matter. My friend and his sisters are coming, don't worry they're cool!"

Vicki was relived, but what was cool to him maybe totally uncool to her. Vicki began feeling very homesick at the moment. "Umm, Mrs. Lin…oh I mean mom, can I call Ruby and them later to tell them I'm here, to you know tell them I'm safe so they don't worry," asked Vicki.

"Of course you can honey, you can call them whenever you wish to!" smiled Jenny.

The four headed towards the limo and drove home.

When they arrived, "Wow! This place is bigger than the orphanage!" screamed Vicki.

Mr. and Mrs. Lin laughed at Vicki's naiveness. "Come inside Vicki, we'll show you to your room!" announced Mr. Lin.

"You mean I get my own room? I don't have to share?" asked Vicki excitedly.

"Of course not! Only the best for our daughter!" smiled Mrs. Lin.

"YES!" she screamed. "No more loud snoring from Jessica and Teresa! No more sleep talking or sleep mummbling from Annie and NO more sleepless nights cause of Ruby's fear of thunder storms!" shouted Vicki happily.

"Whoa so you're saying you shared a room with four other girls before?" asked Jimmy in amazement.

"Yup!" answered Vicki.

When Vicki saw her room she was even more surprised. It was the same size or possibly bigger than her room at the orpghanage. There was a king-sized bed, her own entertainment system, a couch, a study table, a humongoust closet and her own bathroom! "WOW it's so pretty! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" shouted Vicki going around hugging everyone.

Everyone just laughed.

"Mom, I think you adopted a crazy girl," said Jimmy.

"Really Jimmy? Do you think we should exchange her?" Jenny joked. "You know, she's the most normal girl there was!"

"You got to be kidding me right? She was the only normal one?" asked Jimmy.

Jenny and Vicki both nodded.

"It's okay, we can keep her, I'll get use to her…I hope!" sighed Jimmy.

Jenny and Vicki giggled. Jenny then kicked the boys out of the room and got Vicki ready for the party.

~At the Yang mansion~

"Kristy, hurry up we're going to be late! Don't you want to meet Aunt Jenny and Uncle James' new daughter?" yelled Ted.

"I'm coming!" yelled Kristy as she ran down the stairs in her purple dress. "Dad, who else is coming?" asked Kristy.

"I don't know," replied Ted.

"Well, I heard Alec's family is going to be there for sure," answered Stacey.

A smile appeared on Kristy's face.

~In the Car~

"You know, Kristy, I heard the girl they adopted is from Hong Kong, and is very beautiful," said Stacey trying to get Kristy more intrested in the party.

"Okay," answered Kristy.

"In a matter of fact, your mother, Aunt Jenny and I grew up in Hong Kong, maybe Aunt Jenny still has pictures of us when we were kids, or maybe even keepsakes," said Stacey again.

"REALLY?? Dad drive faster!" excalimed Kristy. She wanted to know as much about her mother as possible.

~At the Su Mansion~

"Why are these things always so formal?" asked Alec as he tried to put on his bow for his tuxedo. "We're welcoming a kid for goodness sake!"

"Alec, you know even though it's a party for a kid, a majority of the guests are going to be adults. There's going to be only a of couple kids," explained Gigi already dressed in her pink dress. "Did you talk to Jimmy yet? What's his sister like?" asked Gigi excitedly.

"Nope, he said not to call him today because he has to show the girl around the house," answered Alec still struggling with the bow. "Ahh…I give up!" exclaimed Alec throwing his bow onto the floor.

Gigi giggled, "Don't worry bro, you look better without the bow…" implied Gigi. "You look nerdy enough as it is," she laughed.

Alec was about to get her, but their mother yelled, "ALEC, GIGI COME DOWNSTAIRS, WE'RE LEAVING NOW!"

"HURRY WE DON'T WANT TO BE LATE!" added Amy in her yellow dress.

"COMING MOM!" shouted Alec.

The Su family then left for the party.

~At the Lin Residents~

Vicki greeted guest by guest. Mostly everyone said that she was so adorable and pinched her cheek. Usually when anyone pinched her cheek, she'd stomp on their foot, a little habbit she picked up for Teresa, but she couldn't do that tonight, she had to give her and her mother some face. Vicki tried being as polite as possible. Until she couldn't take it anymore.

The next guests to arrive were the Yangs and the Sus. Vicki hoped they didn't want to pinch her cheek too.

"Good evening. Welcome to our party," greeted Vicki with pink puffy cheeks.

"Oh aren't you prettiest little girl, that I've ever seen," exclaimed Stacey and Mrs. Su.

Stacey reached out to touch Vicki's cheek.

"Please don't pinch my cheeks, they're all sore and numb, from everybody else pinching them," pleaded Vicki.

"Alright dear, here come with us inside," offered Stacey.

Vicki nodded and followed the two families inside.

Jimmy saw Vicki's pink cheeks and exclaimed, "Whoa, Vicki, what's wrong with your face!"

Vicki knew Jimmy meant her cheeks but decided to play with his mind a bit. "Huh? Why Jimmy that's not a very nice thing to say. How would you feel if I said, Jimmy what's wrong with your ears, why are they so big?" said Vicki pretending to sound hurt.

Kristy, Gigi, Alec and Amy started laughing. Little giggles can be heard from Stacey and Mrs. Su.

"No I didn't mean that, I meant why are your cheeks so pink?" replied Jimmy, feeling really embrassed.

"Oh why didn't you say so? You know Jimmy, you should be more specific," said Vicki.

"They already sound like brother and sister," said Gigi to Kristy.

"Oh there you are Vicki dear, I was looking everywhere for you. My word, what happened to your cheeks?" asked Jenny.

"Oh hi Mrs. Lin, I mean mom." greeted Vicki. "Oh my cheeks? Well all your guests said I was so adorable that they had to pinch my cheeks," replied Vicki rubbing her cheeks.

"Oh, poor girl, does your cheeks hurt?" asked Jenny.

"No, not really," Vicki answered smiling which caused everyone else to smile.

"Alright dear, let me introduce you to some of my friends here. This is Mr. and Mrs. Yang, and their daughter, Kristy," introduced Jenny

"You can call us Uncle Ted and Aunt Stacey," said Ted.

"That is Mr. and Mrs Su, and their three children, Alec, Gigi and Amy" said Jenny.

"Call us Uncle Tom and Aunt Melissa," said Tom Su.

"Hi," the children greeted.

Kristy studied Vicki's features, this girl resembles Ruby in a way. She seems nice enough.

Vicki looked at Kristy and thought, "She looks a bit like Ruby, maybe she's like Ruby too!"

"It's nice meeting you," said Vicki. "My name is Vicki Zhao, I'm turning 13 in August. I lived in the Chan Orphanage for three years and my best friends are named, Louis, Dicky, Tae, Teresa, Annie, Jessica and…" said Vicki.

"Wait you grew up at the Chan Orphanage?" asked Stacey.

"Yes, Aunt Stacey, I stayed there for three years," Vicki answered happily, while Mrs. Lin just nodded.

"Vicki here, saved my life. She risked her life and push me away from a car that was about to hit me. She saved a total stranger," replied Jenny with pride.

"Because you were nice to me!" Vicki added. "I treat nice people with respect."

"So Vicki, do you know a Benny Chan?" asked Stacey.

"Yup, I know Uncle Benny, he runs the orphanage and is Annie's dad!" announced Vicki.

"Annie's dad?" asked Stacey confused.

"Yup, Annie Chan one of my best friends, she's 12 in November!" explained Vicki.

"Ya, Benny and Annie's daughter," explained Jenny.

"So how's Benny?" asked Stacey.

"He's as cheerful as always. He says he really misses us and the good old days," replied Jenny.

"Ya, I do too," sighed Stacey. "So did you see Bobby?"

"Nope, he died 13 years ago," replied Jenny.

Everyone went silent.

"Mom, aunties and uncles don't be so sad about it, Louis isn't sad about it anymore and neither is Uncle Benny, he's probably in a better place now," said Vicki trying to lighten the mood. "My best friend once told me that you're suppose to have fun and laugh at a party not cry or be sad, because you can ruin a party like that, parties are suppose to be fun," Vicki smiled her famous smile that caused everyone else to smile.

"Ya, Vicki's right," said Ted, "There is no use grieving over the past. Benny and Louis got over it and so will we," Ted announced. "Who's Louis?"

"Louis is Bobby's son, he was left at the orphanage when his parents died," said Jenny. "He is a very handsome young man, he has his father's attitude."

"Oh no not another Bobby!" sighed Stacey, causing everyone to laugh.

"Eww! Louis handsome? You got to be kidding me!" exclaimed Vicki with a disgusted expression on her face.

Jenny laughed at her daughter's expression, "Come on Vic, he's not that bad is he?"

Vicki made a disgusted face.

"Aunt Jenny do you have any pictures of you and my mother when you guys were younger?" asked Kristy, she'd been dying to ask that question the moment she stepped into the house.

"Yes, I have a whole lot of pictures of us back in Hong Kong. Come I'll show you!" said Jenny.

The kids and women followed Jenny into her room, where many picture albums were found. Jenny opened an album and began flipping through the pages.

"Hey that's the orphanage!" shouted Vicki, pointing at the house in the photo.

"Kristy here's a group picture of your mother, Stacey, and some of our friends in the room we shared," said Jenny.

Kristy looked at the picture of her mom, she was very pretty. Kristy realized that she resembled her mom a lot, but her mother's smile reminded her of Ruby!

"Vicki do you recognize this room?" asked Jenny.

"Hey that's the room me and my friends sleep in, but it looks different! Oh wait it's just a lot cleaner," laughed Vicki.

"Ya, Stacey is a neat freak!" laughed Jenny.

"Well I use to be, but after living with those four girls you automatically turn into a slob!" said Vicki. "Hey that looks like Annie!" she shouted

"Yup, that's Annie's mom." said Jenny

"Wow, she really did look like her mom!!" exclaimed Vicki, "Mom! Look! It's a chubby version of Louis!"

Jenny laughed, "Ya that's his dad Bobby."

"And that's Benny," said Jenny pointing at a little boy, with a funny looking haircut.

"Oh my gosh! You got to be kidding me! That's Uncle Benny? I've got to show that picture to the girls, maybe we can trade it for the video!" exclaimed Vicki.

"What video?" asked Alec.

"A very embrassing moment, on my 10th Birthday at the orphanage," said Vicki.

"What happened?" asked Gigi.

"Well, at that time, I lived at the orphanage for about a month. My parents had died three months earlier, and I was in a comma for two whole months. When I arrived at the orphanage, I guess I was basically a loner, I never talked, and would always cry for no apparent reason. Some of the kids made fun of me, my only friends were Jessica and Annie, but the other kids always pulled them away from me. I can't remember if I ever smiled during my first month there. Uncle Benny thought that if he threw me a party I'd feel better," replied Vicki recalling her first couple of weeks at the orphanage.

"Aww, that's so sad," said Gigi.

"A new girl arrived at the orphanage that day, she wanted to wish the birthday girl a happy birthday, so she searched for her. She found me crying in the closet. No one in the entire orphanage even noticed I was missing, only a girl I didn't even know, she looked for me. She was very funny and naïve, I didn't know if she was just trying to make me happy or was really that dumb. But she caused me to smile for the first time in months. She asked me what was wrong, and threatened that if I didn't tell her she'd tickle me to death. I told her my problems, she just told me she understood what I was going through, because she had just awoken from a comma, and realized that she had no one left to care for her, to love her, the worst part was that she had amnesia, she couldn't even remember what her family was like. We both understood the other's problems. She promised me to be my friend. Then Louis found us in the closet and called everyone to our attention, I heard someone whisper to my new friend, not to get to close to me because all I ever did was cry. I thought I had now lost Ruby and began crying," said Vicki.

"RUBY???" asked Kristy.

"Yes my friend's name is Ruby Lin," replied Vicki.

"Oh Ruby Lin, please continue Vicki," said Kristy.

"I thought you said it'll be embrassing, this is just sad," announced Alec.

"SHUT UP! And let her continue!" yelled Gigi ."What happened next?" asked Gigi, as if she was really intrested on what's going to happen.

"Well, when I thought I had lost another friend, Ruby called for everyone's attention and…" Vicki began laughing.

"What? What did she do?" asked Jimmy.

"She started dancing annd singing It's my party and I'll cry if I want to. Everyone starred at her as if she was a freak. Jessica soon joined her in with her singing. Ruby and Jessica then pulled me up to sing and dance around like a fool. All of a sudden Annie joins us, you should have seen the expression on Uncle Benny's face, it was priceless," announced Vicki.

Alec and Jimmy bursted out laughing, "So basically the four of you made fools of yourselves!" said Jimmy.

Vicki nodded, "We don't mind Uncle Benny keeping the video, it's just that he had already shown it to basically everyone in Hong Kong. We tried to steal it but he keeps it in his private collection of home movies. Louis has been trying to make copies of it and giving it out, but nobody's ever found where Uncle Benny keeps his home videos!"

"Wow, Vicki you actually sung and danced in front of so many people? I could never do that!" asked Kristy.

"I thought that too, but you only live once right?" Vicki explained.

"Hmm, very intresting, maybe I can get Benny to send us a copy," said Jenny.

"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" cried Vicki, "It's too embrassing! And it looks all screwed up, you can only hear us, because of Joyce's big fat fingers she didn't actually record us." said Vicki.

"Who has big fat fingers?" yelled a voice coming up from behind Vicki.

Vicki turned around, "JOYCE!" Vicki ran to her and hugged her. "What are you doing here?" asked Vicki.

"Well, remember I came to Taiwan to study?" asked Joyce, Vicki nodded her head. "Well, Uncle James was my father's buisness partner, he knew I was in the neighborhood and invited me. I came up here to greet Aunt Jenny, but instead I found someone talking behind my back!" said Joyce.

"I didn't say anything bad about you!" said Vicki giving Joyce an innocent look.

"Oh don't use that look on me, I taught you girls that look! It only works on Uncle Benny!" Joyce replied.

"Joyce! How are you dear? I see you know Vicki," said Jenny as she hugged Joyce.

"Yes aunty, we use to live in the same orphanage," answered Joyce.

"Really so I can get the dirt on her from you!" said Jenny.

"Oh yes aunty I tell everything I know about this little monster!" replied Joyce.

"Go ahead, I've always been the good, mature and responsible one, there's no dirt on me!" announced Vicki.

HA! You the good, mature and responsible one? If only that were true!" laughed Joyce. "Only if you're compared to Jesse, Annie, Ruby and Teresa!" exclaimed Joyce.

"Joyce! I'm trying to leave a good first impression on my new found family and friends, can you please stop trying to scare them away! We weren't that bad you know!" argued Vicki.

"Hmm let me see, how about on Teresa's first day? Ruby insulted Mr. Lam. You, Jesse and Annie made it seem to the entire neighborhood that you were torturing her for misbehaving, which scared most of the younger kids. Teresa stomped on Mr. Lam's foot, and you girls pulled her away kicking and screaming. You made it sound as if you killed the girl," Joyce explained.

"You pulled someone away kicking and screaming?" asked Alec.

"Well we didn't like that old Mr. Lam, he doesn't like kids and wanted to discipline Ruby and Teresa! We had to do something to make him leave ASAP!" Vicki exclaimed. Vicki then re-explained to everyone what actually happened.

Everyone bursted out laughing after hearing about the incident.

"You guys probably had a lot of fun times together!" exclaimed Gigi.

"I'd never have the courage to do anything like that!" said Kristy.

"I think we'll have just as much fun here," answered Vicki.

"Those girls sounds even worst than us when we were kids!" exclaimed Stacey.

"Boy, I never thought that Ruby can be so wild, she looks so innocent!" laughed Jenny.

"Ruby, kind of brought out a new side to us," replied Vicki.

"What do you mean by kind of? Vicki, before Ruby came Jesse and Annie were only always hyper, and you were very quiet and now you girls are…what's the word little devils!" laughed Joyce.

"Mom, I'm glad you didn't adopt that Ruby girl, or…I don't know! Vicki seems a little hyper active, but if that Ruby girl was here, I'd think Taiwan would sink!" exclaimed Jimmy.

Vicki gave Jimmy a deadly glare then laughed, "I don't think Ruby would've been able to save mom, because she was still, sleeping when I left for the grocery store!" exlcaimed Vicki.

"That girl, still loves her sleep," sighed Joyce.

Vicki laughed, "Yup, the only person who'd sleep beside her is Teresa, because she sleeps like a dead log!"

"Figures," said Joyce.

"Alright! Enough about my past, let me get to know you gals," said Vicki as she turned towards Kristy and Gigi.

"Why don't you kids go to Vicki's room and talk, me and Aunt Stacey need to entertain the guests now," replied Jenny.

Everyone followed Vicki, to her room. Amy went downstairs to eat. In the hallway, some girl about their age was walking the opposite diresction heading straight for the group of kids, it was like two fright trains about to collide. She purposely bumped into Kristy, causing her to fall.

"Sonjia Kwok! Can you please watch where you're going?" asked Gigi politely. Gigi was very rude infront of her friends but would always act polite infront of others. She'd only make fun of Alec.

"Oh sorry Gigi, I guess I didn't see all you little people!" announced Sonjia in a snotty voice.

"LITTLE PEOPLE? WHO YOU CALLING LITTLE, SHORTY!" screamed Vicki, who was just a bit taller than Sonjia, but everyone else there except for Amy was taller than Sonjia. Joyce tried to hold her back but she couldn't.

"How rude!" exclaimed Sonjia, "and who might you be?"

"Vicki Zhao, and I don't appreciate people bumping into my friends causing them to fall and not apologizing," glared Vicki.

"Oh you talking about her?" asked Sonjia, "She doesn't deserve my apology, it's just a waste of my breath talking to her!" said Sonjia as she tried to walk away.

Vicki was ready to jump that Sonjia girl, but Joyce grabbed her and pulled her to her room. Everyone followed. Once in the room, Joyce released Vicki. "Joyce! What are you doing? I was ready to jump her!" exclaimed Vicki.

"I know, that's why I stopped you!" explained Joyce. "Remember V, you have to make a good first impression!"
"Ya but…urg!!!!" shouted Vicki. "Joyce, you know I have to stick up for my friends, just like I know that they would for me!" exclaimed Vicki.

"I know," replied Joyce, "but don't scare your friends away!" as she pointed to Kristy and Gigi, who looked upset.

"I'm sorry, I guess I didn't really leave a good first impression on you girls right?" asked Vicki.

"No Vicki, we can tell you are a great person, you are willing to stick up for your friends and that's a good thing. It's just, that Sonjia Kwok, she's always picking on Kristy and I for no apparent reason," replied Gigi trying to smile.

"Don't worry as long as I'm here, I'll always back you two up. That's a promise. Nobody ever picks on me or my friends or they'll get it!" said Vicki grinning evilly.

"Vicki, don't push it, you hear me?" scolded Joyce.

"It's only me what's the worst that could happen?" asked Vicki innocently.

"Anything!" answered Joyce. "Well girls, I guess we could say you won't have any more problems with Sonjia Kwok, since you girls got Vicki, but then again you girls got Vicki on your side."

"Okay, so you guys know a lot about me now, tell me about yourselves," declared Vicki, sounding as if nothing has happed at all.

"Alright, here's my background information," began Gigi. "My name is Gigi Lai, I'm 13 years old, I'm Alec's step-sister, and Amy's sister. My father left when I wasn't even born yet, my mother married Alec's dad, when I was one and they had Amy when I was two."

"Hmm, I see, so how long have you known Kristy?" asked Vicki pretending to take notes and sound professional.

"All my life," announced Gigi.

"Alright, very good Gigi," announced Vicki. "Now it's your turn Kristy."

"Oh alright, umm… My name is Kristy Yang, I'm turning 13 on June 17. Stacey is my step-mother. My mother died when I was 8 and my twin sister, Ruby ran away three years ago. I use to have a lot of friends, but now Gigi and Alec are my only friends," said Kristy.

"I'm sorry, Kristy, I didn't mean to bring up sad memories," apologized Vicki.

"It's okay, if we're going to be friends I should tell you about myself, and besides we heard so many of your stories already," smiled Kristy.

"Yup you're right we are friends now, as Annie would say, 'All for one and one for all!'" laughed Vicki.

"That is so corny!" laughed Kristy.

"But it's true!" added Gigi.

"Ya we're the three musketeers, without the muskets though!" chuckled Vicki.

"You girls are weird!" exclaimed Alec.

"SHUT UP!" yelled both Vicki and Gigi, they looked at each other and started laughing.
