"Hmmm…" was her reply.
"Come on Kristy don't be so lazy!" scolded Gigi, "We’re suppose to take Vicki out now!"
It took the girls an hour to get Kristy up, and another hour to get ready and to have breakfast.
~Outside~
"Ahh! It's such a beautiful day!" said Kristy as she stretched her arms.
"Why do you seem so happy today?" asked Gigi.
"I dunno I just feel so happy today, especially after meeting Vicki and talking to her friends," explained Kristy. "They've made a very true point, you only live once, why not live it to the fullest and have fun? Why let others pick on me?" she stated.
"You're right Kristy, we should live life to the fullest!" agreed Gigi.
"Yeah, you go girls!" hooted Vicki. "That's the attitude I was looking for! We’re going to have loads a fun together, eh?" asked Vicki.
"YUP!" replied Gigi happily.
The three girls walked around their neighborhood having as much fun as possible. Kristy and Gigi showed Vicki all their favorite places. Vicki loved the atmosphere she was in. This was home to her now. She felt safe here, she has a family now and her own room.
As Monday drew nearer Vicki got nervous, she'd be starting at a brand new school, and making new friends. What is she going to do? She was so nervous at night that she couldn't even sleep. School started tomorrow. How is she going to face everyone all these people she doesn't know?
~Monday Morning~
Vicki arrived at school half an hour earlier than she had to because she had to register in at the office. When she got her teachers name and classroom number she decided to wander around the school a bit. She walked from one end of a school to the other. She was deep in thought. She wondered what the girls were doing at that very moment. They were probably still trying to wake Ruby. Someone came up from behind Vicki.
"BOO!" they screamed.
"Oh my gosh! Gigi, Kristy, you guys scared me!" jumped Vicki.
"Sorry, we just wanted to surprise you," said Gigi.
"Well you did!" exclaimed Vicki.
"Wow, someone's in a bad mood today!" announced Kristy.
"Sorry, it's just that I'm a bit nervous you know? And I'm not really use to uniforms," replied Vicki.
"Don't worry you have us!" smiled Gigi.
"Ya? Thanks!" she thanked.
"So who's class are you in?" asked Kristy.
"Umm, I'm in Mrs. Wu's class," answered Vicki.
"Yay she's in our class!" announced Gigi jumping up and down excitedly.
"Oh look it's the losers, Gigi and Kristy!" exclaimed Sonjia to her followers.
Gigi and Kristy's happy expression disappeared.
"Sonjia, right?" asked Vicki politly.
"Ya and you are?" asked Sonjia.
"Ya, we met at my party remember?" replied Vicki.
"Oh yes I remember, you're Vicki, right? The loud mouth girl who got dragged into a room?" answered Sonjia in a snotty tone.
Vicki blew her top. Kristy and Gigi saw Vicki's anger. Gigi whispered, "Vic, can you let me and Kristy handle this?"
Vicki looked at them confused. Kristy just nodded.
Vicki backed away, "Finally Kristy and Gigi have developed some back bone," Vicki thought.
Kristy and Gigi, stepped in front of Sonjia.
"What do you losers want?" she snotted.
"SONJIA KWOK!" yelled Kristy. "Don't you dare think that, since my sister's disappearance that I've lost my backbone! Because I haven't! Just because I have been quiet and depressed lately doesn't mean that I'm going to take this crap from you! You hear me? I've had enough!" Kristy exclaimed.
"Wh..what?" asked Sonjia confused. "Kristy hasn't talked back to her or picked fights with her since they were 8 and Ruby was still around. What could have changed her so quickly? Was it that Vicki girl, who brought back one of her worst enemies?" Sonjia thought to herself.
"Yeah, way to go Kristy, tell her that no one can mess with you?" encouraged Vicki. Vicki was very impressed with Kristy's backbone, she didn't expect Kristy to be this tough, Kristy seemed so sweet. Like they say never judge a book by it's cover.
"Sonjia you better back off! We're not going to let you pick on us anymore!" added Gigi sternly.
"Gigi too had grown a back bone," thought Sonjia. "You know Kristy, you are really pathetic you know, it took you almost three years to get over Ruby's death!" laughed Sonjia.
"RUBY'S NOT DEAD! YOU BITCH! SHE JUST RAN AWAY! SHE'LL BE BACK!" yelled Kristy.
"Sure she will, just keep telling yourself that. The girl's been gone for almost three years she probably died in a gutter somewhere!" laughed Sonjia as she began heading to class.
Kristy had enough, during these three years, she's taken a lot of bullshit from Sonjia but when she talks bad about Ruby she's gone too far. This time Sonjia and pushed Kristy over the edge, she was going to blow! "DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT ABOUT RUBY YOU HEAR ME!" Kristy was ready to jump Sonjia any minute now.
Gigi and Vicki used all their strength to hold Kristy back. "Kristy calm down!" warned Gigi.
"You better watch your mouth!" exclaimed Vicki.
Sonjia scurried away quickly.
"Kristy, breath, take deep breaths, ignore her she's just trying to get you worked up!" explained Vicki.
Kristy calmed down. "Okay, I'm okay now, let's go to class!" she offered.
"You sure?" asked Gigi with concern in her voice. She hasn't ever seen Kristy blow up like that before.
"I'm fine," replied Kristy as if everything was fine.
They headed to class.
"Welcome back students, today we have a new student from Hong Kong, please welcome Miss Vicki Zhao," introduced Mrs. Wu.
The class was forced to clap for Vicki.
Vicki stood up and began introducing herself, "Hi, I'm Vicki Zhao, I'm 13 and I grew up in an orphanage. Mrs. Lin adopted me during the March break. I now have a brother, name Jimmy Lin in grade 9. I find Taiwan to be a beautiful place, I will enjoy growing up here. I'm told that I can be very stubborn and hard headed, so you can't say I never warned you!" winked Vicki.
"Very nice Miss Zhao, we are thrilled to have you with us for the remaining of the year," said Mrs. Wu.
Vicki sat down beside Kristy and Gigi. He looked a her classmates. "They are no different from the other kids in Hong Kong," she thought. Vicki continued looking around she noticed a very, very, VERY good looking boy in the far left corner of the class. She poked Kristy, "Who's that?" asked Vicki pointing to the good looking boy.
"That's Vic Zhou!" Kristy whispered.
"I'm going to like it here," giggled Vicki. For the rest of the day Vicki kept on stealing glances at Vic.
Within a month anyone who's anyone, knew who Vicki, Gigi and Kristy were. Everyone knew that these three girl were very straight forward, and they knew never to mess with Vicki. Kristy, Gigi and Vicki were now the queens of the school.
