Ambushed

Killing Me Softly

Chapter 19:

One by one the five cars pulled up to the cottage, each girl stepped out of their vehicles, to greet the man who had called them. Their teacher, their master, a man who had their full trust and respect. One who had taken each and everyone of them in, when they were left orphaned.

Ruby, Jessica, Gigi, Michelle and Kenix all looked at each other, and together they approached the impatient Tony, who had been standing on the porch awaiting they’re arrival.

“Tony,” Jessica spoke greeting him, with a nod.

Tony looked at each and every girl, he turned around, and started walking towards the house, “Follow me,” he said.

“Where’s Leon?” Michelle asked, as she entered the empty cottage.

Ruby noticed a trail of blood on the floor, she followed the trail and found the source being Tony’s leg. “You’re injured,” she said, holding his arm.

Tony looked at her, the coldness in his eyes, disappeared for a second. “I’m fine,” he said walking over to the bookcase and pulled out the third book, on the second shelf, starting from the right. A secret passage way opened up. “Load up the gear, we’re going on a rescue mission,” he said, walking down the stairs and entering the utility room.

“Rescue mission?” Jessica asked. “Who are we rescuing?”

“Who are we missing?” Tony answered, loading his gun with bullets.

“Tony? What happened?” Gigi asked, while the others started getting their things together.

“We were set up,” replied Tony, walking out of the room, and down the hall, where a grayish blue van was kept.

“Set up? By who?” Kenix asked.

“PYRO’s, Eric Suen,” replied Tony, opening the doors to the van, “Get in, I’ll give you girls’ the details, on the way. Emerald you drive.”

Everyone got into the van.

“Where to?” Gigi asked, buckling her seatbelt and starting the engine.

“HK Bay,” replied Tony. “The old Chrysler Factory.”

Gigi headed off to their destination.

“So what happened?” Michelle asked.

“Eric came to find us yesterday, while we were in Taiwan. He was beaten pretty badly, he said, that everyone in PYRO was gone. That he, Leo, Leehom and Michael were ambushed, he said Michael got killed on the spot, while Leo and Leehom were captured. He was the only one to get away. He said the other four were killed too,” said Tony. “He brought us a message, saying an old friend wants to see us,” replied Tony. “Leon left to scout the meeting place, have a sneak peak of the enemy, he wanted to find you girls for reinforcements.”

“We didn’t hear from Leon at all,” said Jessica.

“If those people could have gotten the eight in PYRO and kill Michael, how would it be possible for Eric to make it out,” said Ruby.

“They could’ve let him go, to give Tony and Leon the message,” said Gigi.

Ruby shook her head. “Why Eric though?” Ruby asked. “His stubbornness would only get him killed in a crisis, not freed. Unless he surrendered. That would be the only reasonable explanation.”

“Exactly,” replied Tony. “I had my suspicions about him, the next thing I knew he pulled a gun on me.”

“How about Leon? Does he know Eric was setting the two of you up?” Kenix asked.

“I doubt it,” replied Tony. “He was probably ambushed last night. Dead or alive, we still don’t know yet,” said Tony, staring out into the bright sky. “When will we get there?”

Michelle looked at her watch, “It’s only 12:30 now, roughly three hours from here to the city, then approximately half an hour before reaching the bay, so about 4:00 pm,” replied Michelle.

“Hold on buddy,” whispered Tony.

~King’s Hotel~

Vicki awoke to the sweet aroma of shark fin soup, she opened her eyes, and stretched on the bed. She laid lazily on the bed, relaxed. Since she was injured Alec had been taking care of her. She need not worry, for once she can put down her guard, and let loose. Not a worry in sight.

“You up?” Alec asked, approaching the room with a bowl of the soup. He set on the night stand, and helped her sit up. “How are you feeling today?” he asked.

“I’m okay,” Vicki replied quietly, looking at her hands that were on her lap. She doesn’t know what hasn’t gotten into her lately, she couldn’t look into Alec’s eyes without turning bright red.

“I made you some soup,” said Alec, holding up the bowl, beginning to feed her.

Vicki sat there enjoying this. She noticed his hand bandaged up. “What happened to your hand?” she asked as she reached up and held his hand.

Alec pulled his hand away, “Nothing…nothing happened to it.”

Vicki glared at him for lying, she unraveled the bandage, and saw his hand red. “You burnt yourself,” she said. She looked at the bowl of soup, “Because of me.”

“It’s nothing really,” he said, wrapping his hand up.

Vicki held his hand and got out of bed.

“What are you doing?” Alec asked, “You should be in bed.”

Vicki dragged him into the bathroom. She opened the cupboard and took out some toothpaste, and started rubbing it on his hand. “My mom use to do this whenever I got burned,” she said. She was rubbing his hand, but was lost in her thoughts, “My mom…” she whispered.

~Flash Back~

*************************************************************

“Vicki, honey, you have to be careful,” said her mother, Kathy. “The kitchen is no place to play.”

Vicki was crying to herself.

“Don’t cry Vicki, it’ll stop hurting after awhile,” replied her mother. “Come I’ll take you out for ice cream,” she said holding Vicki’s hand.

Vicki stopped crying, and followed her mom.

*************************************************************

“It’s not fair, why does daddy love Ruby more than me?” cried Vicki.

“You know that’s not true,” said Kathy.

“Then why does he spend all his free time with Ruby and not me?” Vicki asked.

“Ruby…her mother is gone, she’s not as lucky as you, you have both me and daddy, Ruby just has daddy,” explained Kathy.

“You’re my mommy, why do you love her too?” exclaimed Vicki. “Ruby gets everything!”

“Vicki, mommy will always love you, nothing can change that,” said the gentle woman.

************************************************************

“Ruby, take Vicki to the park, now!” exclaimed Kathy. “Don’t come back here! Understand!”

Ruby shook her head. “No…I…I can’t leave.”

“Mommy!” Vicki cried.

“There’s no time, go! Hurry!” Kathy exclaimed, rushing the two girls out of the house.

Vicki tugged on Ruby’s shirt, “What’s going on?”

Ruby shrugged her shoulders.

Vicki began crying.

A car pulled up to their driveway. Many men in black stepped out, one held their father captive.

“DAD!” exclaimed both Vicki and Ruby, hiding in the bushes.

One of the men fired at the bush, killing the cat.

Vicki screamed, seeing the blood.

Ruby had to cover her sister’s mouth, so the intruders won’t hear her.

The men entered the house, a bullet was heard, their dad’s loud groan, then men laughing, as Vicki’s mother, Kathy was screaming in immense pain. Then a series of bullets were heard, before the men left the house.

Both Ruby and Vicki ran into the house, finding both their parents dead.

Ruby and Vicki ran to their father’s side shaking him, trying to wake him. He opened his eyes, and caressed Vicki’s cheek, then turned to Ruby, and said, “Ruby…Lin,” his eyes closed, never to be opened again.

Vicki shook her father trying to wake him.

“Vi..cki…Ru-by,” they heard Kathy called.

They ran to her side. She was bruised and bleeding everywhere. Her clothes were torn.

“MOM!” exclaimed Ruby, shaking her. Even though Kathy was Ruby’s biological mother, but loved her a lot.

“Ruby, take good care of Vicki for me please? She’s a little stubborn, but take really good care of her, okay?” Kathy asked.

Ruby nodded.

“You’re going to grow up into a beautiful girl one day, make me, your father, and your mother proud okay?” announced Kathy. “Happy Birthday…”

Ruby tried to hold back her tears, and smile, but couldn’t.

“MOMMY!” cried Vicki. “Don’t…don’t go…don’t leave me.”

“Vicki be a big girl, don’t cry, listen to your sister, okay?” Kathy asked.

Vicki looked at Ruby, then her mom, and shook her head, “She’s not my sister. She’s only half!”

“Vicki…my beautiful Vicki, blood is blood, its thicker than water, remember mommy loves you, be good and take care,” she said as her eyes clothes.

“Mommy!” cried Vicki shaking her. Vicki hugged Ruby and cried, hitting and bruising Ruby’s back, but Ruby didn’t say anything, she just sat there, staring at a mysterious red dot that was shinning on Vicki’s back.

At the exact moment two men entered, they both started firing their guns, at someone who was hiding upstairs, aiming at the two girls.

Vicki stopped crying, both girls had their eyes set on the two men who just entered.

One crouched down beside their father, “Shit! Mark! MARK!” he exclaimed shaking him.

The other crouched down beside Kathy, “They got Kathy too,” he said, staring at the wall, then something caught his attention, it was a picture, hanging on the wall. He stood up, forgetting about the two youngsters and approached the picture, taking it off the wall.

“Tony,” the one by their father called. He approached his friend, and saw the picture. “Mags…” he said caressing the picture.

Ruby ran up to Tony and kicked him in the shin, “Leave my mommy alone!” she exclaimed, taking the picture frame from him, and running back to Vicki’s side.

Leon and Tony looked at each other. Leon approached the two little girls. He crouched down, “Hi, I’m Leon,” he said, in a sweet and gentle voice.

The girls looked at him.

He smiled, “And you are?”

Ruby looked at him, “Ruby…Ruby Lin,” she replied.

“Lin?” Leon asked. He turned back to look at Tony. “And who’s this?” he asked at the crying Vicki.

Vicki didn’t answer.

“My…my sister, Vicki Zhao,” replied Ruby.

“Mark and Kathy’s daughter,” Leon said to Tony.

“Half sister,” replied Vicki. She glared at Ruby. “You have a different mommy!”

Tony looked at Ruby. “Who’s your mother?” he asked.

Ruby pointed to the picture.

“And your father?” Leon asked.

Ruby pointed to Mark’s corpse.

Both Leon and Tony were shocked.

~End~

Vicki was still rubbing Alec’s hand, now with much more force. “Vicki...Vicki...Vicki,” Alec called. “You’re hurting me.”

Vicki looked at him with tears in her eyes. She let his hand go free. “My mom,” Vicki repeated, as tears began rolling down her check.

“Vicki, you okay?” Alec asked. This was the first time he had seen her cry.

Vicki hugged him and started sobbing. “My mom was murdered, they…they raped and tortured her before she died. Ruby…Ruby wouldn’t let me go…she wouldn’t, she wouldn’t let me save my mom,” she cried.

Alec hugged her back, “Don’t cry Vicki, don’t cry.”

“My mom was the only person who loved me,” she sobbed.

“No, Vic, no, I love you too,” announced Alec.

Vicki pulled back, “Wh…what?” she asked.

“I love you,” replied Alec.

Vicki shook her head in disbelief. “No one loves me…” she replied.

Alec closed in on her, while she kept walking away, he held her tightly, “I love you, and that’s the truth,” and kissed her.

*************************************************************

The grayish blue van pulled up, a block away from the old Chrysler Factory.

“We’re here,” announced Gigi.

“We’ll wait until dark to take action, Pearl and Sapphire, the two of you go shut down the main power for five minutes, giving Jade a enough time to hack into their security system, as for Emerald and Ruby go out and buy us something to eat,” announced Tony. “Keep alert and don’t forget the earphones and mic, we may take action at anytime.”

The girls nodded.

The girls one by one got out of the van, and into the busy late afternoon rush of the crowds of people.

Michelle had been on the computer searching for the factory’s blueprints.

Jessica and Kenix, were across the street from the factory.

“How’s your hand?” Jessica asked.

“It’s fine,” replied Kenix, “Don’t worry.”

“You sure?” Jessica asked.

Kenix nodded.

“Pearl, Sapph…” Michelle called, through the mic.

“Ya?” Jessica asked.

“The source of the power comes from a fuse box, located on the rooftop,” said Michelle. “You girls need to get up there. There’s only one way to get up there, go into the building, and take the built in stairs up to the roof,” said Michelle.

“There wouldn’t be a problem, if life were that easy,” said Kenix.

Jessica saw a window above them, and then a dumpster, she climbed on the dumpster to look through the window. It was completely dark inside. There were four to five men, guarding someone tied to a chair, she couldn’t see the face though.

“Pearl, there’s only five guys in there guarding someone,” said Jessica.

Kenix climbed up to take a look also. “Something’s not right,” whispered Kenix.

“They’re not even armed,” said Jessica.

“Go inside and check what’s going on,” said Tony.

Kenix and Jessica easily snuck into the building through the front door. They approached the room they were spying in earlier.

“One, two, three,” Kenix mouthed.

They swung open the door, waiting for guns to be fired, but nothing. They heard people approaching the door, when the timing was right, Jessica and Kenix, grabbed one person each and stuck a gun to their head.

Two were being held captive by Jessica and Kenix, while the other three were crouched down on the floor, hands over their heads.

“They’re only teenagers,” Kenix said, looking at Jessica.

“What are you doing here?” Jessica asked.

“We…we…we…” stammered one.

“Don’t kill us man!” exclaimed another one.

Kenix and Jessica let them go. “Stay down!” ordered Jessica.

Kenix entered the room. The person tied to a chair was just a woman, in her early twenties. She untied the woman, who was unconscious. She looked around, she saw stains of blood on the floor, she followed it, on the wall in big bold letters, written in blood it said, “SNAPZ!” underneath it was a symbol. It was a combination of the letter R and D. She went back to where Jessica was, “They’re gone,” said Kenix.

Jessica fired her gun at the window. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

“There’s a woman tied up in there, stripped of her clothes, I think they were going to…” began Kenix.

“Get out of here!” said Jessica, and don’t come back, letting them go.

The five teenagers ran out of the factory.

Kenix pulled out her phone, and called the police, she faked a old woman’s voice, “Hello, there’s a woman here at the Chrysler Factory, by HK bay, tied to a chair and unconscious,” then hung up.

Both Jessica and Kenix went back to the van.

“Leon’s not in there,” announced Jessica.

“It was just of some teenagers, who kidnap some girl, planning to rape her,” explained Kenix.

“Any clues left behind?” Tony asked.

“There were traces of blood on the floor, and the word SNAPZ was written on the wall with this weird RD symbol on the bottom,” replied Kenix.

“RD symbol? The Raider’s symbol.” Tony announced. “Jade, do a search for a place called SNAPZ in HK,” said Tony.

Michelle got to work.

Ruby and Gigi were walking out of the café with some food, when Ruby spotted someone. “It’s Eric!” exclaimed Ruby.

“GEMS, we’ve spotted Eric!” said Gigi into the mic.

“Follow him,” said Tony.

“Let’s go,” said Ruby.

Eric got on a motorcycle and drove off.

Gigi pointed to a motorcycle that was left on.

Ruby nodded.

Both girls got hopped on the motorcycle Ruby wearing the helmet, and driving, while Gigi was in the back. Within seconds they drove off.

“Hey!” exclaimed someone coming out of the Mac’s.

Gigi saw the guy.

Ruby was concentrated on tailing Eric. He sure was tricky, always switching lanes back and forth. They ended up in the heart of the downtown area of HK, where the whores, come out at night, where guys go to find a good time. They saw Eric enter a bar.

Ruby parked the car around the block, to avoid suspicions. “They’re at a bar downtown, by Stream Valley Ave. and Bunchgrass Circle, it’s called SNAPZ,” announced Ruby.

“We’re on the way,” replied Jessica. “Wait there.”

“Gottcha,” replied Gigi.

In about twenty minutes the others arrived.

“He went in there,” said Ruby pointing to the bar.

“All five of you go in, I’ll be on monitor duty today,” said Tony. “Go in there, don’t draw too much attention. Go in there to find Leon, save him, check if any members of PYRO are in there, rescue, bring back Eric dead or alive, understand?”

The girls nodded.

“Emerald, and Ruby search the basement, as for Sapphire, and Jade, search the second floor, and search for any clues on who maybe behind this, I’ll go after Eric,” said Kenix.

“Deal,” said the rest of the girls.

“Be careful girls,” Ruby reminded.

“You too,” said Kenix.

Kenix entered the bar first. She both sat down at the bar.

“What can I get such a lovely lady?” the bartender asked.

Kenix smiled, she moved extremely close to his face, and whispered in his ears, “One…ice…cold…beer,” she said in a sexy voice.

“Sure…” he said smiling gruesomely, at Kenix.

They started flirting, he was whispering nasty lines in her eyes, Kenix really wanted to beat him dead, but had to play along. She kept her eyes opened for Eric to show up, but no sign.

~Jessica and Michelle~

They entered through the back, by climbing up the fire exit, and through a window. They’re were a few cameras around.

Michelle pointed to the camera, signaling Jessica to BUG them. Jessica nodded. Bugging them meant to short circuit the cameras with a special glitch Tony had innovated.

Jessica pulled out a little device from her belt, that looked like a mini remote control, she aimed it at the camera, and shot a small, little microchip at it.

~In a Nearby Room~

“The cameras 1, 4 and 6 on level two just went out,” said a man.

“2, 3, and 5 are dead too,” said another.

“Call J.C. and inform him of the mishap. Send two or three guys down there to check,” said the first man.

~Down in the Bar~

Eric entered with a group of men. His phone rang. He turned to three men, said something and they disappeared down the stairs.

_________________________________________________________________

“Someone’s coming,” Michelle told Jessica.

“Good, we can get who ever it is to take us to PYRO,” said Jessica.

When the three men came, Jessica and Michelle jumped them, knocking two unconscious, and holding one hostage.

“You know where the captured members of PYRO are, don’t you?” Michelle asked, holding a knife up against the guy.

“They’re in the room down the hall on the right,” answered the guy.

Jessica knocked him out. She looked at Michelle, “Let’s go,” said Jessica.

~Gigi and Ruby~

“Em and Ruby, I think they might have locked Leon in the basement,” said Tony.

“Why?” Ruby asked.

“Because, there are only three floors at the bar, basement being one, the bar, and the floor Sapphire and Jade are on. They probably kept either PYRO up there or Leon. They wouldn’t leave both hostages on the same floor, they aren’t that stupid,” said Tony. “So check the basement.”

Ruby and Gigi nodded.

They got into the bar, and easily found the entrance down to the basement. The found a room that was locked. It took Gigi less than three minutes to break the combination.

The door opened, they got in and found Leon, handcuffed to a chair, he was bleeding.

Ruby undid the cuffs, while Gigi helped him up.

“Leon, are you okay?” Ruby asked.

Leon was unconscious. He looked at Ruby, “Mags?” he mumbled.

“Let’s get you out of here,” said Gigi.

~Jessica and Michelle~

The two girls entered the room, and found Leo and Leehom both tied up on the floor gagged.

When Leehom saw the girls, he began squirming, as if signaling them to get out.

“Leehom!” Michelle called.
Before anything could take place the door slammed shut and someone pointed a gun at both Jessica and Michelle. “Don’t move…” he said.

“A trap,” whispered Jessica.

“I knew it was too easy,” replied Michelle.

Someone took the guy’s place, and held Michelle and Jessica captive. The guy walked up to Leehom and kicked him a few times. “It’s not nice trying to ruin my plans,” he said. Tracing his knife on Leehom’s face. He pulled off the gag.

“BASTARD!” Leehom yelled. “You limping dog!”

“Limping, ey?” he asked. He stabbed Leehom in the shin. “Mine’s gonna heal, but don’t be too sure about yours,” he said stabbing him again.

“JERK!” Michelle called.

He turned around, and looked at Michelle. He stopped. “You look familiar. Do I know you?”

“I wouldn’t know, coward, hiding behind a mask,” replied Michelle.

“Who are you?” Jessica asked.

“Call me J.C.,” he replied. “You two lovely ladies, wouldn’t happen to be the infamous GEMS now would you?”

Both girls looked away.

“This is easier than I expected,” he laughed.

An image flashed in his mind.

“When can I buy you a drink?” Julian asked.

“When you get the job,” said Gigi. “Bye,” she waved at him.

“Who’s this cutie?” Michelle asked, putting her hands and his shoulders.

“Michelle, Julian, Julian Michelle,” Gigi introduced, “Now let’s go,” she said pulling Michelle’s hand.

“Shit!’ he mumbled to himself. “This chick knows Gigi.”

~Bar~

Kenix saw Eric get up by himself, and enter the bathroom. She turned to the bartender who was still mumbling nastiness in her ears, “Excuse me,” she said, getting up and heading out towards the bathroom. She waited outside for him.

When he came out Kenix stood closely beside him, holding her gun up against his back, “Let’s go traitor,” she said. She lead him out to the exit, where he said something that stopped her.

“You don’t think it would be this easy do you?” he asked.

“What are you talking about?” Kenix asked.

“No trouble, no nothing, just smooth sailing?” Eric questioned. “You girls are good, but not that good.”

Before they were out, everything at the bar went silent, and everyone pulled out either a gun, or a knife.

J.C. brought Jessica and Michelle down, with Leehom, and Leo.

“Sapphire! Jade!” exclaimed Kenix.

“Pearl!” they both yelled.

“So none of them are Emerald,” whispered J.C.

Ruby, Gigi and Leon came up, surrounded by people with weapons.

“Trapped,” whispered Ruby.

“Get…get to the girls,” whispered Leon.

Kenix held a gun and pointed it at Eric’s head, “Let us go, or he dies.”

J.C. didn’t think twice before he shot Eric twice.

“Wh...what?” Kenix stammered, watching Eric fall to the floor huddled in a ball. The blood oozing out of his body.

“Two faced, backstabbing bastard!” Gigi yelled.

J.C. laughed he turned around, and pointed his gun at the girl who just spoke, when he saw her, he froze.

“EMERALD! BE CAREFUL!” Michelle yelled.

“Gigi…” he whispered. He looked at Michelle, then back at Gigi. “Gigi Lai…is Emerald.”

Jessica took this opportunity to brake out of her hold, and capture this J.C. guy, she pointed her gun at him. “Let us go or I’ll shoot him,” she announced to everyone.

Everyone looked at J.C., he nodded, “Let them go.” His eyes still focused on Gigi.

Ruby held Leon up, while Michelle helped Leehom, Gigi picked up the unconscious Leo, Kenix grabbed Eric from off the floor. They all left the bar. Tony had brought the van around, and everyone got in.

Gigi walked pass J.C. and saw him staring at her oddly. “What are you looking at?” she asked.

“You’re beautiful,” he said.

“Quit the sweet talk, Em, doesn’t go for heartless jackasses,” replied Jessica, still holding him hostage.

His voice seemed so familiar, Gigi looked at his familiar eyes.

“Em, get in, let’s get out of here,” called Ruby.

“Uh…yeah,” Gigi said, breaking their eye contact and getting in the van.

Jessica let him go and shot him in the arm, she got in the van, and it drove off.

As soon as the van was out of sight, J.C. took off his mask. “Gigi,” he mumbled.
