Chapter 2: GEMS
After a long relaxing bath and a series of crying, Ruby finally pulled herself together. She got dressed, not in ugly, oversized clothes, but clothes that fitted her perfectly to the skin, showing her every curve. She had tight black leather pants, she wore a black sleeveless shirt, with little sparkly silver glitter. She applied a bit of make-up. She grabbed her house keys and left the apartment, making sure no one was around to see her dressed the way she was.
She walked down the street, about two blocks away from her apartment, was a garage. She unlocked the door, opening it up. Inside, there was a silver BMW. She unlocked the door, and got inside the high-tech car. She turned the engine on. The computer stored in her car turned on. “Good evening,” it announced.
“Check mail,” declared Ruby.
“Checking mail,” answered the computer. “One new message.”
“From who?” Ruby asked, as she drove out of the garage.
“Jade,” replied the computer.
“Read it aloud,” commanded Ruby.
“Ruby, you should really learn how to write properly. You’re wasting the space in my account, quit sending me letters that make no sense at all. Next time don’t write such nonsense. We all know clothes are very important to you. LOL. Well, see you. JADE,” the computer answered.
Ruby laughed to herself.
“Destination?” the computer asked.
“Cruise control,” announced Ruby.
“Cruise control on,” answered the computer.
Ruby turned to the computer, and typed in the co-ordinates.
“Co-ordinates verified, approximate distance to be traveled 60 kilometers, approximate time, is 45.675 minutes, traveling at 75 miles per hour,” announced the computer.
“Increase speed to 110 miles per hour,” answered Ruby.
“New estimation of approximate time is 20 minutes,” answered the computer.
Ruby gained control over the car. She seemed focus on the road, but her mind drifted off back to her earlier thoughts. She looked over to her right shoulder. He thought about him. His lopsided smile, his sweet kisses, his stupid self pride, the sound of his voice, the sound of his heart beat, she loved everything about him. She missed him so much, every second she wasn’t working all she ever thought about was him. What is he doing now? Does he remember her? Why was she always thinking about him? “I thought I forgot him already!” she exclaimed. “Love is for the weak! I need to be strong, I mustn’t let my emotions get the best of me again!” Tears streamed down her face. “Can’t let it happen again. Just can’t.”

~Jimmy and Louis~
“Damn, that Jessica chick sure is fine,” announced Louis.
“She’s alright, not my type,” answered Jimmy.
“What is your type?” Louis asked.
“Who knows,” replied Jimmy. “It’s not like you know.”
Louis sighed, “There’s only one girl for me,” answered Louis, he frowned, “But now, she’s gone.”
“She wouldn’t want to see you like this,” announced Jimmy.
“Aiya, don’t make me think about the past,” declared Louis, putting on a fake smile. “But seriously, that Jessica chick, did you see her? Damn! What a challenge!”
“She’s not interested in you,” explained Jimmy.
“That’s why I’m interested. Out of all the girls I’ve met in these past two years, she’s the only who’s ever rejected me. In my entire life, no girls were ever able to escape from my grasp, she resisted my charm,” declared Louis.
“Xin Ru, rejected you too,” laughed Jimmy.
“I’m glad she did,” answered Louis. “On a Friday night, it’d be worst then hell for me, legendary player/lawyer to spend an entire evening with an ugly chick.”
“She isn’t that bad,” answered Jimmy. “If you get to know her and ignore her looks, she’s a pretty interesting person.”
“Sounds like somebody’s interested in that nerd,” teased Louis.
“You got to be kidding me!” laughed Jimmy. “You forget who I am? I’m Jimmy Lin. You’re the mysterious, classic, cold heartless player. You use your prey and get bored in one night, while I play with mine for a month, being a sweet, sensitive guy, then break it off with them, by letting them catch me with someone else in bed, the pain expressed on their faces, is always so unbearable. Sweet, sweet revenge,” announced Jimmy.
“You’re cruel Jimmy, seriously,” answered Louis.
“All girls just want one thing, and its money, there’s no such shit as love,” replied Jimmy. “I’m getting sick of beautiful girls, maybe I should change my prey for once.”
“You thinking of that Xin Ru chick?” Louis asked.
“I don’t know, she’s a good girl, I don’t want to hurt her,” explained Jimmy.
“But?” Louis asked.
“But what good is a girl if you can’t play them?” Jimmy asked smiling at Louis.
Louis smirked. “I don’t know that Xin Ru chick, seems like one tough cookie,” announced Louis. “Who do you think will get the girl first? You and her or me and Jessica?” he asked.
Jimmy smiled. “I find that, this Jessica girl, will not easily fall for you, and your charm,” laughed Jimmy.
“Neither will Xin Ru, fall for you,” answered Louis.
“But I’m her friend already,” replied Jimmy, “Phase one, already completed. The chase begins.”
“Then you’re already ahead of me,” announced Louis.
“My dear friend Louis, you’re looking for a one time fling, while I’m working a one month relationship, you do the math, the odds are against me,” chuckled Jimmy.
“But then you got an ugly chick, so the chances of her saying no is pretty low,” teased Louis.
“Ah yes, but Xin Ru, she’s different from other girls, she said no to you, now didn’t she?” Jimmy laughed, patting Louis’ arm.
“OUCH!” exclaimed Louis, “My freaking arm!”
“Maybe you go see a doctor,” laughed Jimmy.
A plan came to Louis’ mind, “You’re right Jimmy, I need to see a doctor,” he agreed. “Who would say no to a guy in a cast?” he asked mischievously.
“You and your plots,” chuckled Jimmy. “Hats off to you my good sir.”

(Just down the street)
“Let him go!” a handsome young cop exclaimed, holding his gun really still.
“No! Never!” yelled the girl. “He deserves to die!” She held a knife close to the hostage’s neck.
“Why?” the young man asked. “No one deserves to die!”
“He said he loved me!” she cried. “He said he’ll never hurt me, but he goes behind my back and sleeps with my goddamn sister!” She held the knife up to the guy’s neck. “He’s a liar! He deserves to die!”
“Everyone makes mistakes, maybe he learned his lesson,” answered the handsome cop.
She turned to look at the guy who was supposedly her boyfriend, “WHY!” she screamed. “WHY! HOW COULD YOU? WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HURT ME? I LOVED YOU!”
The cop began having a headache. These words seemed familiar, but he couldn’t remember, where or who he’s heard it from. He closed his eyes and saw an image of a girl fall to the ground. Seeing this image broke his heart. Why? He couldn’t see her face, but he felt really close to her.
He quickly snapped out of his daze. “He’s not worth it, you kill him and you’ll be in jail for the rest of your life. You’re still young and beautiful forget this jerk and move on. There are guys a hundred, a thousand, a billion times better than him,” he told her. “If he dies you’ll be in jail for good, you’ll never finish school, you’ll never get married, have children, you’ll never experience happiness again,” he declared, these words also seemed familiar to him. He didn’t have time to think such things, his number one priority right now was to get this situation under control.
The girl paused to think, trying to absorb everything he’s said, she slowly removed the knife from her boyfriend’s neck and released him. “Why?” she asked. “Why are girls the only ones who suffer in relationships? Why must they stay true to their so called lover, why must they forgive? Why do guys fool around? Why is a guy rewarded by others, when they have more than one girlfriend, while girls get called a whore, a bitch, or slut?” she asked. “It’s the twenty first century for heaven’s sake! Why are women, still considered the second sex to men?” she asked.
“Miss, please calm down,” called the cop. “Come down, we’ll find you help, just don’t overreact and do something stupid.”
The girl ignored him, “Have you ever been in love, have you ever had a girlfriend?” she asked.
He didn’t say anything.
“No?” she asked. “That’s funny, an attractive guy like you, must’ve had at least one girlfriend before, you’re not telling me you’re gay are you?” she asked.
“Course not, women turn me on, just like any other guys,” he answered.
“So have you been in love before?” she asked.
He closed his eyes, thinking back to the girl who haunted his dreams, he looked up at her and nodded.
“Must’ve been a long time ago, if it takes you that long to remember,” answered the girl.
He nodded.
“What do you remember? Do you remember seeing her cry?” she asked.
He nodded again. Those teary eyes haunted him day and night.
“See, in most relationships, 9 out of 10 are full of tears and sorrow, the sad moments over power the happiness, and they’re all one sided relationship,” announced the girl. “Let me ask you a question you still with this girl?”
He shook his head.
“Who was at fault, you or her?” she asked.
“I don’t know, I can’t remember,” he answered.
“Typical, guys are all the same, always wanting to pass the blame,” she laughed.
The more this girl talked about it, the more he thought about the images in his head, were they real, or was it his imagination? Why did those eyes haunt him day in and day out? Why can’t he remember? What actually happened four years ago?
The girl looked at him and nodded, she got down, “Girls, they’re more reasonable then guys, they admit to their faults, if I were a guy, I would’ve killed that jerk,” announced the girl looking at him.
The other cops hand cuffed her.
While he just stood there thinking, trying to remember.
“Agent Chen!” announced a police officer.
“Yes?” he asked.
“Thank you for helping out today,” the officer announced.
He nodded. “No problem, it’s my job.”
________________________________________________________________________
Ruby arrived at her destination she was near the outskirts of the city. She parked her car near trees and bushes, so no one would be able to see her. She opened up the glove compartment, and pulled out her favorite gun. The gun that’s always brought her good luck, one that she’s had by her side, since her first mission. Ruby strapped the gun onto her belt, and got out of the car. She cautiously and quietly closed the door, being sure no one was around. She studied her surroundings and noticed two other cars already parked around the area, and very well hidden. She cautiously approached the abandoned warehouse, a few feet away from her, making sure no one was going to ambush her. She entered the big old warehouse, looking around for her friends, but she couldn’t see anyone.
Someone snuck up behind her and trapped her in a head lock. Ruby grabbed the person’s arm and flipped them, she tripped the person and pinned her to the ground, “Emerald, this is getting old, you know you can’t get me!” announced Ruby, getting off her friend, lending her a hand and pulling her up.
Emerald got up and rubbed her back, “Aiya, Ruby, you knew it was me, you could’ve been a little easier on me, you know, I am one of your best friends,” she announced.
Someone stood in the background in the darkness. She started clapping her hands. “You’re reactions, keep getting quicker and quicker,” she announced.
“Long time no see,” Ruby announced.
“Just a month,” she answered.
“We had no contact with each other within this month, except for your weekly emails and progress report,” answered Emerald.
“And Jade’s constant calls and complaints,” laughed Pearl.
“Pearl, Emerald, where is Jade?” Ruby asked.
“She’s not here yet,” announced Pearl.
“She didn’t understand your email,” replied Emerald.
“Actually, she just sent me an email, she should be coming soon,” explained Ruby.
“How about Sapphire?” Pearl asked.
“Someone talking about us?” Sapphire and Jade asked, walking up to the three girls.
“Why are you two arriving together?” Pearl asked.
“We met outside,” answered Sapphire.
“I thought you weren’t coming,” Emerald asked Jade.
Jade walked up to Ruby, “What kind of email was that?” she asked. “It took me forever to realize what you meant!” she scolded.
“Did anyone else have problems with me message?” Ruby asked.
Everyone shook their head.
“Jade, if you were a bit more observant then you would’ve understood it,” replied Sapphire.
“Jade, if you were a bit more observant then you would’ve understood it,” replied Sapphire.
“Okay, listen to this,” announced Jade,
“Pearl, Jade, Emerald, and Sapphire,
Went shopping seven days ago. Bought couple OUTingSKIRTS. Neighbor, she abandoned me. There was warehouse sale across the street. Clothes very important to me. Very big meeting now. I going late. Grammar bad today. Hehehhe…
Love always,
Ruby,” she said reading the email aloud. “Now tell me how the hell would any normal people understand this email?”
“Jade, don’t you remember the rules we had?” Pearl asked.
“I fell asleep, during the lessons,” answered Jade. “It was along time ago.”
“First sentence, which word is a number?” Emerald asked.
“Seven,” answered Jade.
“Exactly, and seven is the third word in the sentence,” replied Pearl.
“Meaning, the third word in every sentence,” announced Ruby.
“Look at the email again, the words we’re looking for are seven, outskirts, which are in bold and intentionally linked together, abandoned, warehouse, important, meeting, late, tonight,” explained Emerald.
“Meaning we me at seven o’clock, location is outskirts, referring to the outskirts of town, abandoned warehouse, meaning we meet here, and late, tonight means that Ruby is going to be late tonight,” explained Pearl.
“Well duh, I’m here now aren’t I, meaning I understood the message,” replied Jade.
“Jade, you already forgot the basics,” declared Sapphire.
“What? I’m the forgetful one, remember?” Jade reminded them.
Sapphire looked at Ruby, “My, my, my, what a difference, completely different from this morning,” she announced.
Ruby walked up to Sapphire, and pinched her.
“Ouch! What was that for?” she asked, rubbing her arm.
“YOU!” Ruby accused.
“What about me?” she asked.
“Teasing me today,” Ruby said pinched her again.
“What? You do it all the time to us!’ she laughed. “Besides you really looked like a fashion catastrophe this morning.”
“What are you two babbling about?” Pearl asked.
“Lin Xin Ru, and Jessica Hsuan, their paths crossed today,” answered Ruby.
“Did they really?” Jade asked.
Ruby and Sapphire nodded.
“You girls should have seen her,” Sapphire laughed, “Oversized ugly black pants, a hideous pink top, really thick glasses, you would never believe it to be our dear old Ruby.”
“Was she really that bad?” Pearl asked.
Sapphire nodded.
“I’d pay to see that, our gorgeous Ruby, a fashion disaster? Now this I got to see,” announced Jade.
“Ditto for me,” agreed Emerald.
“You guys suck,” announced Ruby, sticking her tongue out at them. “Let’s get down to business,” she declared.
“Fine, fine,” replied Sapphire.
They all huddled around a table.
“Jade did you follow the target today?” Pearl asked.
Jade nodded, “48 year old Jeffery Ong, a very powerful tycoon in Hong Kong. He started his day off with a morning jog, then he returns home to his mansion to have breakfast. At approximately 1:20 in the after noon, Ong, would head down to the stock market and speak with David Yip, a senior co-executive working for one of the companies’ stock market. After a chat with him, Ong, leaves to see his mistress at 3:00. At about 5:00, Ong leaves his mistresses side, and returns home to his wife. At 6:00 he received a call, and left the house,” answered Jade, showing them photographs she had taken.
“And you didn’t follow him?” Sapphire asked.
“Chill,” answered Jade, from 3:00 to 5:00, I left my car to buy a drink, coincidentally I bumped into one of Ong’s body guard, who had the exact same cell phone model I did, so I intentionally switched our phones. I scrolled the phone book once, found Ong’s cell, house and business numbers, I memorized it all, and switched the phones back, apologizing to the guy. I went back into my car, and started hacking into the phone companies, cause you know all cell phones can be monitored. I hacked into Ong’s cell phone account and waited until he received a call,” explained Jade.
“Well? What was the call at 6 about?” Pearl asked.
“It sounded like his mistress, calling him back to her place,” answered Jade.
“How is all this useful for our operation tonight?” Sapphire asked.
“I’m getting there,” announced Jade. “Ong, he promised to come over but told her that he had to leave at 8:30, because he’s supposed to be meeting a Mr. Chu, at Little Innocent Devil’s Professional Masseuses at 9:00,” replied Jade. “This is the perfect opportunity to take care of him once and for all.”
“It’s 7:20 now, we have less than two hours to get ready for the operation,” announced Pearl looking at her watch. “Where’s the van?” she asked Emerald.
“The van is downstairs in the parking lot,” answered Emerald.
“We’ll take the van downtown, who’s on monitor duty this time?” Ruby asked. “I did it last time.”
“Me,” answered Sapphire.
They drove downtown, to Little Innocent Devil’s Professional Masseuses.
“Emerald and I will pretend to be masseuses and serve Ong and the Chu fellow, while Jade and Ruby will stand watch and check around for any suspicious activities,” announced Pearl.
The girls nodded, they all wore tiny ear pieces, and microphones, so that they could listen to the monitor, in this case Sapphire’s, instructions.
“Jade, Ruby you two go in first, set the cameras,” announced Sapphire.
“Alright,” answered Jade, she picked up the tiny cameras and placed it in a little pouch, attached to her pants.
While Ruby checked to make sure her and Jade’s guns was loaded. “Let’s go!” announced Ruby handing Jade her gun. They went in an alley beside the building and climbed up the fire escape, then entered the building through an opened window.
“Where’s Ong?” Ruby asked.
“Second floor,” answered Jade, sticking a tiny camera in the hallway. “We’re on the third floor right now.”
“I’ll go place a camera on the first floor and elevator, while you do the stairwells,” announced Ruby.
Jade nodded.
Ruby entered the elevator and headed to the first floor, while Jade headed to the staircases, and began placing the cameras at the most important angles. She headed for the second floor. She implanted the cameras, and started checking each room, for Ong. In all the rooms, she discovered indecencies. “This is more of a whorehouse than a masseuse parlor,” she mumbled to herself. She passed by a door that was ajar, she took a peek inside, to see if it was Ong or not, instead she sees the person she hated and loved at the same time. He was fooling around with a masseuse right in front of her eyes, “JERK!” she mumbled.
“Jade, JADE!” Ruby whispered loudly.
Jade wasn’t paying attention, her eyes were glued to the guy in the room, “Can I shoot him?” she asked trying to reach her gun.
Ruby looked in the room, “It’s…..” but was cut off my Jade.
“Don’t say his name, I hate him! I hate him as Michelle Yip, I hate him as Jade too, if you’re my friend then let me shoot that bastard!” announced Jade, glaring at the guy in the room.
“Jade, let’s go, Ong is in the room three doors down,” answered Ruby. But Jade didn’t move, her eyes were fixed on the handsome young man in the room touching up the masseuse. Ruby had to practically drag Jade away from the door and pulled her into an empty room. “Sapphire we’re all clear, Ong’s in room 222, on the second floor,” Ruby announced into the microphone.
“Emerald and Pearl are already coming up, stand clear,” announced Sapphire.
Jade was still thinking about the guy in that room back there, she was in an entire world of her own.
Emerald and Pearl had gone in earlier to find the masseuse’s skimpy uniforms, they were just awaiting Sapphire’s signal.
“Girls, all set, he’s in room 222, on the second floor, take action now,” announced Sapphire.
Emerald and Pearl took the elevator to the second floor, they knocked on the door. A tall man, in a black business suit let them in. “Mr. Ong and Mr. Chu have been waiting,” answered the man. He let the two girls in.
Sapphire was monitoring all the cameras, “Elevator, lift two, the real masseuses are coming,” announced Sapphire.
Ruby and Jade waited in front of the lift, when the door opened, the two masseuses stepped out. Both girls used their guns to knock the two masseuses out. They dragged the girls into the spare room and continued hiding in there.
The big security guard had left, so his boss could have some fun, he didn’t want to go to far, so decided to patrol the halls.
“Jade, Ruby, now there’s a guard patrolling the halls,” Sapphire warned.
Ruby and Jade looked at each other, “Rock, paper, scissors, loser has to seduce that guy, and drag him in here,” announced Ruby.
They did rock, paper, scissors, Ruby had paper, while Jade had rock.
“It’s always me!” she whined.
Ruby smiled, “You’re the best, that’s why,” she explained.
“Ruby Lin Xin Ru, you calling me a natural slut now?” Jade asked, crossing her arms and tapping her foot.
“Take care of business first,” announced Ruby.
Jade left the room. She saw the security guard walking up and down the halls. She walked passed him, intentionally, making it looked like she tripped on her heels and falling into his arms, her arms were wrapped around his neck, while he had his arms around her waist. “Oops, I’m sorry,” she replied.
The guard looked at her and smiled, “Not a problem,” he answered.
“I feel a little faint, do you mind if I just lean on your next, broad shoulders, strong, powerful and very manly arms?” she asked resting her head on his chest.
“Not at all,” he said, moving his arms lower than her waist.
She looked up at him and whispered in his ears, gently blowing in it purposely, “Do you mind helping me to that room over there, it’s empty, I’m on my break right now,” she cooed.
“It’d be my pleasure,” he said smiling at her, he began helping her to the room. Each step he moved closer to her body.
Jade opened the door, “You go in first,” she said.
The guard gladly entered the room. Michelle smiled to herself, waiting outside for a little while.
Not to far away their was a pair of eyes staring at her intently. “Michelle?” he mumbled under his breath, he was topless, only wearing a towel like all the other customers at this masseuse parlor. He practically ran towards her, but before he got there, he saw someone grab her and pulled her into the room, and closing the door loudly. “MICHELLE!” he yelled. He stood in front of the door, anxious, he wanted to know what was happening in the room. “Maybe I was just seeing things, why would Michelle be here, in a place like this? She’s a sweet, innocent girl, she’d never come here. She wouldn’t go in a room, alone with any guy, not even me, it can’t be her. It can’t!” he repeated to himself. “You’re just seeing things,” he announced slapping his head. “Michelle isn’t like that.” He began to walk back to his room, he kept on turning back to see if the door would open, and prove to him that the girl wasn’t his Michelle. Then suddenly…
________________________________________________________________________
The guard pulled Jade into the room, pinned her against the wall, and attempted to kiss her. She grabbed hold of his shoulders and kicked him in between the legs. She started beating him up, “STUPID JERK! SUCH A PLAYER! ONCE A PLAYER ALWAYS A PLAYER! YOU NEVER FREAKING CHANGE!” she exclaimed, beating the guard, until he was unconscious. She looked up and saw Ruby, who was holding a lamp in her hands.
“I was going to break this on his head, but I guess your way works too,” replied Ruby.
Jade looked at Ruby, “I need to shoot something,” she announced.
“Don’t look at me, I’m innocent,” declared Ruby.
________________________________________________________________________
(With Pearl and Emerald)
Emerald was massaging Mr. Chu, while Pearl did Mr. Ong.
Mr. Chu began touching Emerald, rubbing her back and tracing his hand all the way down to her leg. Emerald stopped the message. “Why did you stop?” he asked, looking up at her.
Emerald held her fist tightly, and punched him hard across the face causing him to pass out.
“What the fuc…” exclaimed Mr. Ong popping his head up.
Kenix quickly grabbed her gun out from behind her back, and pointed it at him and pulled the trigger.
“GEMS, exit through the windows, use the fire escape to get down to the van,” announced Sapphire, to all four girls.
The girls quickly did as told. They all got into the van safely, and sped off into the night.
________________________________________________________________________
(Back track back a bit)
Then suddenly he heard a loud bang, it sounded like someone fired a gun, he ran to the door he saw his Michelle get pulled into, and tried to open it. He banged on the door, but no one opened the door. He started ramming his shoulders against the door. “Come on, you can do it, do it for Chelly, come on, she might be hurt,” he said finally busting the door open. “MICHELLE?” he called looking around the room, but all he saw were two unconscious girls and an unconscious guy laying on the floor. The cool night wind was blowing the curtains about.
________________________________________________________________________
The girls drove back to the abandoned warehouse.
“What’s wrong with Jade?” Emerald asked.
“I need to shoot something!” exclaimed Jade, stomping out of the car.
“We saw…” began Ruby.
“Say his name and I’ll use you as target practice!” declared Jade.
Everyone was silent.
“I’m going home,” Jade announced, pulling out her car keys, and heading towards her car.
“JADE!” Emerald called.
“Let her be,” announced Ruby. “She’s a big girl, she can’t look out for herself.”
“What happened?” Pearl asked.
“We saw him, she saw him in one of the rooms fooling around with a masseuse,” answered Ruby.
“Him as in the JERK?” Sapphire asked.
Ruby nodded.
“No wonder she’s acting up,” declared Pearl.
The four girls sighed, thinking of their friend.
________________________________________________________________________
Jade sat started her car, but didn’t drive, she just sat there, thinking about that jerk. She couldn’t help but cry. “Why did I have to fall for such a player? Why? Why do I still love him?” she cried. “He hurt me, why do I still love him? He cheated on me, he used me. Why did I have to see him again?”
________________________________________________________________________
Ruby, Pearl, Emerald and Sapphire, were all sitting on the roof, and talking, having a girl chat.
“All guys on the face of this planet are all jerks,” announced Ruby.
“Amen to that sister,” agreed Sapphire.
“I don’t know, never been in love, but from just Jade and Ruby’s experiences in love, all I can say is that it’s no good. It’ll just bring us pain,” answered Emerald.
“I agree,” replied Pearl.
“Oooo, guys piss me off so bad!” exclaimed Sapphire.
“Guys? Or Louis Koo?” Ruby asked.
“Both,” answered Sapphire. “He thinks he’s so good, so cool that all girls have to fall for him. He is definitely a player. He’s so shallow too! You know when you left to get coffee he called you an it, a nerd and a ugly chick,” announced Sapphire.
“I know, I heard,” replied Ruby.
“And you didn’t do anything? Are you the real Ruby?” Sapphire asked.
“Who said?” Ruby asked. “I spat in his coffee.”
Sapphire laughed, “Now that’s my girl.”
“Who’s Louis Koo?” Pearl asked.
“Some lawyer at the company I work in, he was hitting on Sapphire all day,” explained Ruby.
“Ooo, Sapphire has a boyfriend,” Emerald teased.
“Eww! That jackass?” Sapphire asked. “Over my dead body!”
“What does he look like?” Pearl asked.
“A foreigner,” announced Sapphire.
“He is a little tanned, isn’t he,” giggled Ruby.
“A little?” exclaimed Sapphire. “Try a lot!”
“He sure is cute though, with those dimples,” replied Ruby.
“Oh yes, Ruby, she’s a dimples woman,” laughed Pearl.
“Ey, Jimmy has adorable dimples too,” answered Sapphire. “He seems like a sweet guy.”
“And what’s that to me?” Ruby asked. Her smile turned into a frown.
“Just telling you,” replied Sapphire.
“Who’s Jimmy?” Emerald asked.
“My boss,” answered Ruby. “Besides Louis, Jimmy is the top player in the entire company. Jimmy changes his girlfriend every month. He isn’t my type.”
“And who is?” Pearl asked.
Ruby didn’t answer, she looked up at the stars, and thought about the past.
~FLASHBACK~
Ruby sat in his embrace, her head leaning on his shoulder, “The stars are so beautiful,” she said staring out into space. They seem extra special tonight.”
“Only because you’re by my side. You’re even more beautiful than the stars,” he declared.
“Oh so you only like me because I’m beautiful,” declared Ruby, slapping his arm.
“Who said I liked you?” he asked.
Ruby looked up at him, “You don’t like me?” she asked sounding hurt.
He shook his head, “I don’t like you at all!” he announced.
“I’m leaving,” Ruby said, sitting up.
He held her shoulders, and looked at her, “I don’t like you, I love you,” he declared.
Ruby blushed and looked down at the ground.
He put his arm around her shoulders, he laid down pulling her down beside him. They watched the stars together.
~END FLASHBACK~
Ruby closed her eyes remember the feeling of being in his embrace.
