Chapter 3: CIA?
It was early Monday morning. Ruby was already up, dressed and ready for another day of work as Lin Xin Ru. She looked at the clock in her kitchen, it was 7:30 am, she stood up and grabbed her big ugly straw purse and headed out of her apartment.
While locking her door, the door the apartment on her right swung open. “Xin Ru wait!” exclaimed a beautiful young woman, who was still in her Hello Kitty PJs.
Ruby looked at her, “Gillian, why aren’t you sleeping? You don’t need to work until 11:00,” declared Ruby.
Gillian yawned, “Xin Ru, I was looking for you all weekend,” she announced, covering her mouth, “But you weren’t home.”
“Oh, you were?” Ruby asked. “I was really busy. What was it?”
Gillian scratched her head, her eyes were barely open. “Remember how I always said I wanted to work with the CIA?” Gillian asked.
Ruby nodded.
“I have an interview with them at 9:00 today, they’re going to test my abilities,” answered Gillian.
“Good for you,” announced Ruby, patting Gillian’s back. “I need to get going now, or I’ll miss my bus,” she said. “We’ll go out for dinner to celebrate, I wish you the best of luck.”
“WAIT!” exclaimed Gillian.
“What is it?” Ruby asked.
“Wait for me, I’ll drive you, we’ll go grab something to eat,” answered Gillian.
Ruby looked at her watch.
“Xin Ru, you don’t start work until 9:00, its 7:45 for goodness sake,” exclaimed Gillian. “I promise I won’t make you late.”
“Oh alright,” laughed Ruby. “But you promised not to make me late.”
Gillian nodded.
She entered Gillian’s apartment, and waited as she got ready.
Gillian was everything, Xin Ru wasn’t, cute, adorable and beautiful. Gillian was slightly shorter than Ruby, she had shorter hair and seemed more childish, even though they were the same age. But comparing Gillian to Ruby is entirely different situation, both were natural beauties. Ruby’s known Gillian for at least a year now, Gillian moved in just last spring. They were good friends, but Gillian only knows Ruby as Lin Xin Ru, and Xin Ru’s personality.
“There all done,” announced Gillian, “Let’s go.”
Ruby nodded.
They both took the elevator down to the basement, and got into Gillian’s car and drove off to have breakfast.
Gillian looked at Ruby’s clothes, “Xin Ru have you ever thought about changing your style?” she asked.
“What do you mean?” Ruby asked.
“I mean changing your wardrobe,” answered Gillian. “Xin Ru, I’ve known you for well over a year, you’re a great girl, it’s a pity you don’t have a boyfriend. How do you expect to attract guys if you always wear those clothes?”
“I don’t need to attract guys,” replied Ruby.
“Attract girls then,” Gillian teased.
“Don’t worry about me, worry about yourself, a beauty such as yourself must have tones of guys chase you,” answered Ruby.
“Don’t flatter me,” replied Gillian, smiling at Ruby.
“It’s getting late can you take me to work now?” Ruby asked.
“You’re no fun Xin Ru, all work no play,” answered Gillian, she paid the bill, “Come on let’s go.” Gillian drove Ruby to work. “Have a nice day at work dear,” announced Gillian trying to sound like a mother.
“Good luck at your interview test thing,” announced Ruby. “Don’t be too nervous, just relax. Don’t hurt yourself.”
Gillian nodded.
Ruby got out of the car and watch Gillian drive off. She entered the building, took the elevator to the twelfth floor, then headed to her desk, and began her work.

Gillian quickly drove downtown, the CIA headquarters on Main. She walked up to the receptionist, “Excuse me, I was told to come here for an interview of some sort,” she announced politely.
“Name?” she asked, not evening looking up at Gillian.
“Gillian Chung,” she replied.
“Sixteenth floor, room 25, they’re waiting for her,” answered the receptionist handing Gillian a blue card key pass.
“Thank you,” answered Gillian.
The receptionist didn’t even bother looking at her.
Gillian left. She took the elevator to the sixteenth floor. She walked down the long narrow hall looking for room 25. She must’ve walked straight down the hall, for a full ten minutes, before seeing room 25. She knocked on the door.
“Come in,” she heard a voice call to her.
Gillian turned the door knob and entered the room. She entered a large white room, with three white walls, and one mirror wall. There was a man sitting behind a long silver table, with his head hidden behind a folder that had her name on it. She stared at him for about 3 minutes, before he placed the folder down. “Have a seat,” he said with a friendly smile. This man looked like he was in his late thirties and early forties, he was neatly groomed wearing a black suit, and blue dress shirt. He had a little mustache.
Gillian sat down in the seat in front of the man. She just stared at him.
“Good morning,” he greeted with a warm friendly smile.
“Morning,” answered Gillian.
“I guess you’re wondering who I am, let me introduce myself, I’m Andy Lau,” he announced, placing his hand out for her to shake.
“Nice to meet you,” replied Gillian.
“The pleasures all mine,” answered Andy. “I’ve looked through the files, it says you’ve tried applying to work in the CIA for quite some time now.”
Gillian nodded.
“May I ask why?” he asked.
“The thing is I don’t want to be just any cop, I want to be a special CIA agent, I want to work on more important cases that can help the community, the world. I have confidence in myself, and abilities as a cop, I know I can do better,” Gillian answered.
“Fair enough,” replied Andy, jotting down a few notes. “Straight forward, and down to the point, I like that.”
Gillian just looked at him.
“You’re probably wondering why after so long, since you applied we only call you in today,” answered Andy.
“You’re right, I’d like to know why all of a sudden, after I’ve applied at least seventeen times in the last three years, you only interview me now,” replied Gillian.
“You see Miss Chung, I’m the head of one of the top teams in the Hong Kong district of the CIA. My teams would get sent around the world to lend a hand in very important matters. My team has been number one for the past ten years, and now it’s time that I promote my best agent to become team leader. My superiors have arranged me to form a new elite team of newbies,” explained Andy.
“And…you want me?” she asked.
“I’ve reviewed your file countless times, if I’m not mistaken you were born here in Orlando Florida, but moved here after graduating from the police academy. You were first in your class, specialized in high-tech equipment, and your shooting isn’t bad either, you were elected valedictorian for your graduation ceremony at the academy. When you arrived in Hong Kong, you landed a job as an officer in uniform, but within less than two months you were promoted onto a murder case team, and have been working in the same team for about four years already, am I right?” he asked.
“Yes sir, you’re correct,” answered Gillian.
“If I’m not mistaken you’re still at a very young age, twenty four, am I right?” he asked.
“Twenty three sir, I’ll be twenty four in two weeks,” replied Gillian.
“You’d make a great agent,” announced Andy, “Very qualified for the job.”
“One question sir,” Gillian declared. “If I’m as qualified as you say, then why, may I ask, that the CIA haven’t drafted me yet?”
“No one can draft you if they didn’t see your folder,” answered Andy. “I’ve had it since you first applied, three years ago, I’ve been keeping an eye on you, to make sure you’re CIA material. I just want the best of the best on my team, you understand?”
Gillian smiled and nodded, “Yes sir I understand.”
“I’ve already requested you to transfer from the police station, to the CIA last month, now all you have to do is accept and sign some contracts,” answered Andy. “They’re all here and ready for you,” he handed her a folder filled with documents to sign. “Read it over carefully, and sign when ready.” He threw her an id badge, that already had a picture of her on it, it read.
Agent Gillian Chung
Team 298346/
Team Leader A. Lau
ID No. 6488918093
“What convinces you that I would join the CIA now?” Gillian asked, looking at her id badge.
“I know you better than you know yourself,” announced Andy.
Gillian opened the file and started reading the contracts and documents over.
________________________________________________________________________
Ruby was busily typing up a contract. She looked at her clock radio, it was already 1:00 pm, she’s been working straight since she first arrived at 8:50. She heard something approaching her, she saw someone behind her from the corner of her eyes, she pushed her chair back stretching her arms.
“OUCH!” exclaimed the familiar masculine voice.
Ruby turned around, “JIMMY!” she exclaimed. Jimmy was behind her, he holding his stomach.
“Xin Ru, you have one powerful punch,” he said, holding his stomach in pain.
“Good thing I didn’t use my full strength, or you’d be on the floor unconscious now,” she thought. “Boss, what are you doing sneaking up on me like that, I’m so sorry, I was just a little sore and was stretching, I didn’t know you…” she tried to explain.
“It’s okay,” said Jimmy smiling weakly at her. “It was my fault.”
Ruby smiled at him innocently. She stood up and gave him her seat, “Here take a seat,” she said, helping him onto her seat.
“It’s passed 1:00, why aren’t you at lunch?” he asked.
“Not hungry, I guess,” answered Ruby. Her stomach started growling.
Jimmy looked at her.
“Maybe just a little bit,” replied Ruby. “But I can’t leave now, the meeting starts in twenty minutes, there’s no time, I still have to type up a couple more letters,” she explained, getting back to her typing.
Jimmy looked at her and smiled, “I’ll be back in two minutes,” he told her.
Ruby just nodded.
Jimmy ran down to the canteen and bought a sandwich and a bottle of coke. He ran back upstairs. He ran up to Ruby and placed the sandwich and coke in front of her. “Here, eat,” he said.
Ruby pointed to the computer.
Jimmy pulled another chair up to her desk and pushed her chair away, he started typing up the letters for her.
Ruby smiled, thankful for his kindness, she was starving. “Thanks Boss,” she said.
“Jimmy,” he corrected.
“Thanks Boss Jimmy,” replied Ruby. Ruby kept looking over to Jimmy, to make sure he was doing the letter right, “No! No! No! You did it wrong, you can’t end a business letter in your pal,” Ruby scolded.
“Why not?” Jimmy asked, “The president of that company is my buddy.”
Ruby looked at him, “Move,” she demanded, shooing him away.
“But you’re eating,” he said.
“You eat too, you must be hungry,” announced Ruby, she broke the sandwich in half and gave it to him. She bumped his chair away from in front of the computer and started typing again, occasionally stopping for a bite from her sandwich.
Jimmy smiled watching her eat and work at the same time.
“Aww…eating lunch together, and you two say there’s nothing going on, looks like you two are an old married couple,” announced a familiar voice.
Ruby was too busy typing, while Jimmy was too busy thinking, that they didn’t notice the third person arrive.
“Miss Hsuan,” announced Jimmy standing up, to greet her.
“Mr. Lin, and Mrs. Lin,” she teased.
“It’s Miss Lin,” Ruby corrected.
“We were just grabbing a bite to eat before the meeting, care to join us?” Jimmy asked.
“No, it’s okay,” Jessica said.
“I’m done,” announced Ruby. “Boss, I think you should call up Lawyer Koo now.”
Jimmy looked at the clock. “You’re right,” answered Jimmy.
“Oh please! Does he really have to come?” Jessica whined. “He’s such a shallow freak.”
“Someone talking bad about me?” announced Louis entering the office area. He had a huge cast on his left arm. A few of the female staff of the building were surrounding him and helping him around.
Jessica stared at his cast, “What happened to you?” she asked, pointing to his arm.
Louis looked at her and shook his head, “Oh nothing really,” answered Louis. “I forgive you.”
“You forgive me?” Jessica asked pointing to herself.
Louis looked at her and nodded. “Even though you wished that I broke my arm, and get my arm stuck in the elevator door, I won’t hold it against you.”
“What? How does that have anything to do with me?” she asked. “I didn’t tell you to keep your hand there so the doors can close on your arm.”
Louis looked at her and shook his head, he began walking towards the conference room.
“Ey! Ey!” exclaimed Jessica, holding him back, “Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. Do I look like an idiot to you? You can’t break your arm, because the elevator closed on it. It is censored, as soon as something blocks its way it’ll quickly open up,” explained Jessica.
“Go ahead, ignore the truth,” answered Louis. “I won’t argue with you, wouldn’t want to break the other arm too.” He walked passed her.
“YOU!” exclaimed Jessica.
Louis looked at her through the corner of his eye, and smirked, he entered the conference room.
Jessica just glared at him. She looked back to Ruby and Jimmy, with a pissed look on her face, “Can you believe the nerve of that guy?” she asked.
Ruby laughed, as did Jimmy.
Mr. Wong arrived shortly after Louis, he had at least four body guards around him. They all went into the conference room and started the meeting. They were discussing a possible merge between the two companies.
The entire meeting was running smoothly. Until it was time to sign the contract, before Mr. Wong could sign the contract, the light’s in the room went out. Six gun shoots were heard. The light’s in the room turned on, the four body guards were each shot in the left leg, while Mr. Wong was shot twice. One in his left leg, and one in the heart.
Jimmy ran to the door, and yelled, “Someone call 999!”
Louis sat completely still watching Mr. Wong breath his last breath, as blood was oozing out of his body.
Both Ruby and Jessica were shocked at what happened, the carefully scanned the room for any clues or evidence left behind.
________________________________________________________________________
After reading through the contracts and papers carefully Gillian signed her signature where ever it was needed. She handed it to Andy.
“Glad to have you aboard, Agent Chung,” he announced.
Gillian just smiled.
“Come, we’ll go out for a bite to eat, then come back here, I want to see your skills personally, let’s see what needs to be improved,” announced Andy.
Gillian nodded.
Andy received a phone call, “Hello?” he answered listening to the voice on the other line, “Alright, I’ll be there in a minute,” he declared.
Gillian was just looking at him.
“Gillian, come we have to investigate a crime scene,” announced Andy. “We’ll test your observational skills first.”
The two left in Andy’s black car, and drove to the scene of the crime. They stopped in front of the building Gillian had dropped Ruby off this morning, Gillian became panicked.
“What’s wrong?” Andy asked.
“My friend works here,” answered Gillian.
“Let’s check out what’s happening,” declared Andy.
The two got out of the car, and headed to the lobby.
“Agent Lau,” someone announced.
“You’re here good,” answered Andy looking at the group, of two women and three men.
“We were in the area,” answered a handsome young man.
“Who’s this?” another very handsome young man asked looking at Gillian.
“Not now Yue, we got some investigating to do,” answered Andy. Andy, followed by his team, walked up to the receptionist. “CIA, here to investigate,” announced Andy.
The receptionist nodded and looked at the people surrounding her, one person caught her eye, “Officer Chung, you’re here,” she said.
Gillian nodded, “How’s Xin Ru?” she asked.
“It’s very hectic right now,” answered the receptionist, the police blocked off the entire twelfth floor, only allowing Mr. Lin, Xin Ru, Lawyer Hsuan, Lawyer Koo and everyone else upstairs. Come I’ll take you to them.”
They followed the receptionist upstairs.
“This is a closed area,” announced a cop.
“CIA,” answered Andy showing him his badge.
The cop looked at Andy and his badge, “Right this way.”
Andy and his team entered the crime scene, “Go around check for any suspicious activities. Gillian, Chen, come with me,” he announced.
Gillian and the guy followed Andy.
“I’m Gillian Chung,” she whispered.
The guy looked at her and smiled, “Edison Chen, at your service,” he answered.
Andy approached, Jimmy and the others.
“XIN RU!” exclaimed Gillian running to Ruby’s side, she was unconscious.
“It’s nothing, she just fainted in all of the commotion,” replied Jessica, who was by Ruby’s side. She looked at Edison, seeing if he recognized either her or Ruby.
Edison was beside Gillian. He helped Ruby sit up, securely wrapping his arm around her back and took out a bottle of green oil, and brought it up to her nose so she could smell it.
Since Ruby was just faking it, she was up in seconds, she opened her eyes and saw him. She stared at him intently, “Am I dreaming?” she asked looking up at him.
Edison looked at this girl in his arms, he felt a familiar feeling. He looked into her eyes, studying her appearance.
The two sat there staring at each other, lost in the other’s eyes.
Edison looked at her very carefully, trying to recognize her, even though she only looked partially alike. Based on appearance the difference was like fire and water, but the feeling of having this girl in his arms was just right. He felt like he’s been waiting for this moment for eternity. He held her tightly, not wanting to let her go. Edison wanted to feel her soft skin. He wanted to caress her but was afraid to.
Ruby was savoring the feeling of having his arms around her securely again, he was so close to her, she could feel her cheeks turning red.
“Xin Ru, you okay?” Gillian asked.
Ruby snapped out of her daze, “Gillian? What are you doing here?” she asked, still in Edison’s embrace.
Edison was still staring at her intently, “Have we met?” he asked her with hope in his voice. “Do I know you?”
Ruby just stared at him, “Did he not recognize me? Do I look that different?” she asked herself.
“Miss, do you know me? If you do, please tell if you knew me four years ago? Do you know what happened to me?” he asked.
Ruby looked at the ground.
“You remind me of someone I think I once knew, someone really important to me,” he said.
Ruby looked over to Jessica, as if begging for an answer.
“Excuse me, who ever you are, but if you can’t see, that she just fainted, the incidents of today really scare her. If you’re a cop then get down to business and find out who did this,” announced Jessica.
Jimmy looked at Ruby, he walked over to her and helped her up, intentionally pulling her away from this so called cop. “Xin Ru, are you okay?” Jimmy asked. “If you aren’t feeling well, then I’ll take you home later.”
Ruby looked at him and smiled, “Thanks Jimmy, that’s really sweet of you, but I’ll be fine,” she answered. She looked back at Gillian. “I’ll go home with her.”
“Xin Ru, are you hurt or anything?” Gillian asked, touching her friend’s arm.
Ruby nodded, “How did your interview go?” she asked.
Gillian gave her the thumbs up.
Ruby smiled. She turned to Jimmy, Louis and Jessica, “This is my neighbor Gillian Chung,” she introduced.
“So I’m just your neighbor, you don’t consider me a friend?” Gillian asked.
“Course I do,” answered Ruby. “Who are they?” she asked trying not to come in eye contact with Edison.
“My new boss, CIA Agent Andy Lau, and he’s Edison Chen, he’s my future associate,” announced Gillian.
Ruby nodded at the two men.
“This is my good friend Lin Xin Ru,” answered Gillian. “And they are?”
“The gentleman with the cast is the company’s lawyer Louis Koo, that’s Mr. Wong’s lawyer from The Unique Law Firm, Jessica Hsuan, and this is my boss, the co-executive of the company, Jimmy Lin,” Ruby introduced.
“Eh, he’s cute,” Gillian announced pointing at Jimmy.
Ruby smiled and shook her head.
“I’d like to hear what happened, after the documents are filled out you can go, I want to hear what each of your points of view on this incident,” answered Andy.
Edison was staring at Ruby, non stop. She was so familiar, why can’t he remember.
They each told the CIA agents their story of what happened.
Edison was asking Ruby questions. “What happened?” he asked.
“We were about to sign the contract when the electricity went out, I heard gun shots being fired, in about a couple of minutes, the electricity came back on, and I saw those four men on the floor, and Mr. Wong dead, I then fainted,” answered Ruby, not looking at him.
“Is that all?” Edison asked.
Ruby nodded. “Can I leave?” she asked.
Edison nodded.
Ruby got up and wanted to leave.
Edison grabbed hold of her hand, stopping her from leaving. They both looked down at his hand tightly holding onto hers. Edison reluctantly let her hand go, he looked at the floor, “I’m sorry,” he said.
“What is it?” she asked coldly.
“Your name is Xin Ru?” he asked.
Ruby looked into his eyes, and nodded.
“I’m Edison,” he introduced.
“I know,” she answered.
“So you really do know me?” he asked, holding her hand again, with both of his.
Ruby shook her head, “Gillian…Gillian said it earlier.”
“Oh,” he replied letting her hand go.
“What’s wrong with him?” Ruby asked herself. “What’s the matter?” she asked.
Edison shook his head, “You remind me of someone,” he answered.
“Who?” she asked.
Edison shrugged his shoulders, “I don’t know,” he replied truthfully. “All I know is I really miss her, I feel so empty inside.”
“What’s her name? What does she look like?” Ruby asked.
Edison shrugged his shoulders, “All I know is that I need her.”
Ruby looked at him with love and pain in her eyes. He looked so lonely. It broke her heart, but she gave up on their love. If it had been strong and true enough then they wouldn’t be like this now. She turned around to leave, “The past is the past, forget her,” she said leaving him, “She probably forgot you.” A tear rolled down her cheek.
“She wouldn’t, forget me, she can’t,” answered Edison. He looked up and looked at her back, watching her leave. Her back seemed too familiar to him. For some unapparent reason hearing those words come out of Xin Ru’s mouth broke his heart.
More and more tears began to build up in her eyes, she wanted to have one last look at him, but was too afraid to do so. She bumped into someone, “Sorry,” she announced, quickly wiping away her tears, so no one could see her.
“Xin Ru, what’s wrong?” Jimmy asked.
“Oh hey boss,” Ruby greeted.
“You feeling better?” he asked.
Ruby nodded.
“Then would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?” Jimmy asked.
Ruby looked back at Edison who was looking at her with his intense eyes. “I’m sorry Boss, but I already promised Gillian to take her to dinner, to congratulate her for her new job,” answered Ruby.
“Don’t stay out too late,” Jimmy instructed, “You need to get lots of rest.”
“I know boss,” replied Ruby. “Don’t worry about me.”
“Xin Ru, let’s go!” announced Gillian.
“I’m coming,” announced Ruby. “Bye boss.”
“Take care,” Jimmy declared. “If you’re too tired, then stay home, you don’t need to come in tomorrow.”
“Thank you, thanks a ton Jimmy,” Ruby said.
“The best for my favorite secretary, in the whole wide world,” answered Jimmy.
“You’re most unattractive one too,” replied Ruby.
Jimmy smiled and shook his head.
“Bye boss, lawyer Koo, Miss Hsuan,” Ruby said, waving goodbye to everyone.
“Take care, Mrs. Lin,” Jessica teased.
“It’s Miss Lin,” replied Ruby.
“Good bye,” announced Gillian. “Xin Ru let’s go you owe me big time.”
Ruby smiled and followed Gillian. She stopped to look at Edison. She took one long and observant look at him, then left.
Jessica watched Ruby leave in the elevator, then glanced over to Edison who was still staring at the elevator, she shook her head and let out a long sigh. “First Jade now Ruby, love sure is a harmful emotion, better stay away from it.” she mumbled.
“What was that?” Louis asked.
“Go to hell,” announced Jessica.
“Only if you come with me, I’ll go anywhere for you,” he announced, winking at her.
Jessica stuck her tongue out at him.
“It’s been a long day, I think we all should go home and rest,” answered Jimmy.
They nodded.
“I’ll take you home,” Louis offered.
“With that broken arm of yours?” laughed Jessica. “I’m not telling you where I live, who knows, next thing you know, you brake into my house and try to rape me. Thanks but no thanks. Good day to you all,” announced Jessica, heading to the elevator.
“Rape you?” Louis asked, “That wouldn’t be bad, it’ll get things done a lot faster. But then again I enjoy a challenge. Just wait and see Jessica, no girls have ever resisted my charm, you won’t be an exception.”
“Yo Louis, she’s gone,” announced Jimmy. “You can take that cast off now.”
Louis smiled and nodded, he took off the cast. “It’ll be harder to get her than I thought,” he replied.
“Giving up?” Jimmy asked.
“Never,” answered Louis, “You know money can buy absolutely anything, and lucky for me I have lots of it.”
“Yes, yes,” declared Jimmy. “We all know you’re a rich little snobby boy. We know you have money.” Jimmy looked over to Edison who was still sitting by himself thinking, while the rest of his associates were investigating. “You know, I think Jessica’s interested in him,” announced Jimmy.
“What makes you think that?” Louis asked, beginning to glare at Edison.
“She was looking at him weird, since he first arrived” replied Jimmy.
“I think Xin Ru likes him,” announced Louis.
“Why would she like a guy like him?” Jimmy asked, “They just met.”
“Have you ever heard of love at first sight,” replied Louis. “Who knows maybe he’s interested in her.”
“You crazy?” laughed Jimmy. “How could any guy be interested in her, any guy who can see, that is,” he announced. “He isn’t an ugly guy, maybe not as attractive as I am, but he could still score a few dates with the ladies, why would any guy in his right mind, hit in Xin Ru?”
“You’re hitting on her, aren’t you?” Louis asked.
“That’s different,” answered Jimmy. “And I haven’t actually decided if I was going to hit on her or not.”
“You afraid of a little competition?” laughed Louis. “This might quite amusing, two good looking guys, both after an ugly chick.”
“You know that Gillian girl, isn’t that bad looking either,” announced Jimmy, taking the subject off Xin Ru.
“Ya, she’s cute,” answered Louis, “Like a billion times better than Xin Ru.”
“Shut up, she’s a good girl,” Jimmy said punching Louis lightly.
“You want to start something?” Louis asked, getting ready to beat Jimmy.
The elevator doors opened, “I forgot my briefcase,” announced Jessica, walking up to Jimmy. She grabbed her briefcase, she looked up. “Goodbye again Jimmy,” she said, leaving.
”How about me?” Louis asked.
Jessica turned around, “WHAT ABOUT YOU?” she asked. She looked at his arm, “Where’s your cast?” she asked, pointing to his arm.
“I…I uhh…it’s a miracle! My arm is all better!” announced Louis.
Jessica pinched him, “You stupid bum, you actually made me think your arm was broken! I was beginning to feel bad for you! You are such a jerk!” She pushed him hard and left.
“Ouch, that was tough,” laughed Jimmy.
“She’s strong,” announced Louis rubbing his chest.
In the elevator Jessica was yelling to herself, “LOUIS KOO IS SUCH AN IDIOTIC JERK! STUPID PLAYER! I HATE HIM!”
~Gillian’s Car~
“You’re boss is pretty cute,” announced Gillian.
“You interested? I can help set the two of you up,” Ruby offered.
“Nah, I just said he’s cute not that I’m interested,” laughed Gillian.
“He isn’t a bad guy,” Ruby declared. “He’s really sweet at times.”
“I like his dimples they make him look so adorable,” giggled Gillian.
“Ya, he’s cute,” replied Ruby.
“Where do you want to go to eat?” Gillian asked.
“To tell you the truth, I’m not feeling very well, can you just take me home? I promise I’ll make it up to you another day,” announced Ruby.
Gillian looked at her friend and smiled, “I understand, it’s not everyday that you witnessed someone being shot to death in front of your very eyes, well at least not for a sweet, innocent girl like yourself.”
Ruby sighed, “If only that were true,” she mumbled.
“What was that?” Gillian asked.
“You’re a good friend Gill, I’m glad I have a friend like you,” smiled Ruby.
“You know that Edison guy?” Gillian asked.
“What about him?” Ruby asked.
“I think he likes you,” answered Gillian.
“You are crazy, a guy like him doesn’t go around liking a girl like me,” replied Ruby.
“Seriously he was looking at you nonstop, ever since we first arrived, I really think he likes you,” announced Gillian.
“You are crazy,” laughed Ruby.
Gillian entered the underground parking lot.
They got out of the car and entered the building.
“I’m going to go take a nice long warm bubble bath now,” announced Ruby, unlocking the door to her apartment.
“I’m going to take a nap now,” replied Gillian.
“See you later,” Ruby announced.
“Bye Xin Ru,” Gillian waved.
Ruby entered her apartment, and did her routine, kicking off her shoes, throwing her glasses anywhere around the apartment, and letting her hair down. She sat on the couch hugging one of the cushion pillows, and started thinking. After four years she finally sees him again, but why didn’t he recognize her? “What actually happened that night?” she asked herself.
