Sister Mary stroked my hair gently. “Don’t worry my child. No misfortune is going to befall to my little angel. Be brave. You are going back to your parents’ place. God will protect you and taking care of you from afar. Just remember to write or call us. We will miss you.” I felt Sister Mary’s tears dripped on my shoulder.
“Sister Mary!!!” I cried so hard, she had been closest kin since the day I was brought into this orphanage. She is like my mother, and she is the only nun who brought me up.
“Snowflake! Time is running up. You better bid farewell to all your friends and other sisters.” She pushed me gently towards Voxy.
“Voxy, let’s chat online everyday. I couldn’t bear to leave you but you understand that I have to go. I will miss you so much. I want you to know that you are the best gift that God has given to me. To me, you are more than a friend, you are like my sister. Your existence makes me whole.” I hugged Voxy so close till it was so hard for us to breathe.
We hugged closely. I know Voxy couldn’t let me go too. Since the day Sister Mary announced on my departure, Voxy and I had spent every minute and second of the day together. Sleeping together, going for classes together, eating together, bathing together, singing together, playing together and doing all kinds of things that we have not done together before.
“Snowy, I don’t want you to go. Please stay here with me. You are my source of smile, if you are gone, what will happen to me?” Voxy is very different everyone here. Our personalities are poles apart it’s like, I’m the sun, and she’s the rain; I’m the day, and she’s the night.
“You know that I hate to go, to leave you and my family here. You know that I have to go even though I hate it so much. You know that I am scared, please be online for me. Let’s be each other’s pillar of strength.” I tried to persuade her. I know it is difficult for her to accept my departure.
“Voxy, please take good care of yourself and I promised I will always be here for you whenever you need me. We are growing to be adults, we should learn to face and handle our responsibilities. We are not kids anymore. It’s venture into a world of unknown together. Promise me that you will be brave and handle your responsibilities?” I slowly pushed her away from me and looked into her pair of beautiful ocean blue eyes.
She nodded lightly and hugged me again. “Be sure that you will be going to be here for me even though you might be really busy in the future. Be sure that you will be my pillar and I will be yours.” She trembled terribly against me.
“I promise.” I kissed her lightly on cheeks and we pulled apart. I went to hug everyone and bid everyone goodbye. Everyone here is like a family even though there are people who dislike or despise me but there are still good memories here. I spent fifteen years of life living here and it is also consider as my hometown.
Sister Mary ran to me and pulled me towards the Mercedes in front of us. “You have to go, my dear! God bless!” She pushed me into the car before I could give another hug to Voxy.
Once I got into the car, it sped away. I turned around I found Voxy running towards me and she fell. Tears overwhelmed my eyes, and my heart broke as I watched her fell hard on the floor and the image of her going further and further away from me till it disappeared.
