“Where are they?” I whispered, my right foot making a rhythmic tap on the marbled floor of the grand ballroom. I looked across the sea of fancy-dressed students, hoping to see some sign of my friends who were supposed to have arrived minutes ago. It is our school’s year-end party celebration and I, being the top kingka of our class, was tasked to hand out the corsage to all the pretty girls of our college. I was left with one orchid corsage though, and the lady who was to wear it is late.
Suddenly a black limo stopped in front of the entrance. I expectantly looked at the passenger door as it opened. Jaejoong hyung, dressed in an all-black suit, stepped out of the vehicle and assisted his beautiful wife from the car. I smiled, “Hyung! Noona!”
I ran towards them.
“Hyung, being the owner of this hotel doesn’t give you the right to be late for our school’s closing event.” Smirking, I gave him the flower wristlet, “It’s for Bomi noona.”
Jaejoong just smiled at my remark, ”Sorry, Geunsuk, I had to call Bomi’s doctor first to make sure that she’s fit to attend gatherings such as these.”
“I’m aware of that. I’m just kidding, hyung.” I then turned my gaze at Bomi. She’s already in her ninth month but she doesn’t look stressed or frazzled; in fact she is looking more beautiful than ever. She’s glowing.
She hugged her husband’s arm before turning towards me, “I told him that he should stop being a worry-wart because I feel just fine and that I won’t let him ruin this ball for me, ever. You look dashing today.” She grinned at me. “Where’s your beautiful date?” She has a teasing glint in her eyes.
I blushed. Even if it is usual for me to receive compliments from ladies, I still feel overwhelmed sometimes. “Yah… stop making me feel embarrassed, noona. Ji won’s inside.”
I was feeling a bit emo after their wedding. So one day, I jokingly asked Bomi if she could set me up with a beautiful cousin of hers. Someone that could help me mend my broken heart. Surprisingly, she took my joke seriously and introduced me to her lovely cousin, Ha Ji won. At first, I was somewhat hesitant to go on a date with her, because i was afraid that I just might miss Bomi noona even more. However, she turned out to be a unique person on her own.
It was love at first sight.
“C’mon, everybody’s inside” I led them towards the lavish ballroom.

Yoochun’s P.O.V.
I was watching Yeonhee on the stage. She was the emcee for tonight. I could tell that she was having a lot of fun hosting this event. I smiled as I took a sip of my punch.
“You’re date’s chatting the whole night away. Don’t you want to take her down from that flatform, even for a minute, and just dance with her?”
I looked behind me and saw Jaejoong with a glass of champagne in his hand.
“I’ll dance with Yeonhee later. She wouldn’t like it if I just kidnapped her out of her “hosting” duties. How about you? Why aren’t you dancing with my sister?”
Jaejoong pointed at the center of the ballroom, “Geunsuk borrowed her for a while. Taking a sip, “That kid wants a remembrance of his short-lived romance with Bomi.” He chuckled, “After this song I’ll take my bride back.”
“Yeah right. You slow dancing?” I scoffed. I then refocused my attention on the stage.

Changmin’s P.O.V.
I was dancing with my partner for an hour. Ga In is Kim Hotel Restaurant’s head chef. I was courting her for a while now, and it seemed like I would get a positive answer tonight.
“Changmin, I think I’m too old for this kind of parties.” She looked around us, looking a bit shy. “You should’ve asked one of your classmates instead of me.”
I smiled, “Nah… I would never do that. I’m a one-woman-man. I’d rather have it like this…” I gently twirled her around. And at that moment, I noticed the dancing pair in front of us. A crease formed between my brows. I slowly pulled Ga In to my side…
“What’s wrong Changmin?” She looked at me, puzzled. She then turned towards the direction where I was looking.
Bomi and Geunsuk didn’t look like they were dancing… well, not anymore. Bomi was leaning heavily on Geunsuk, hand on her pregnant belly, breath in shallow gasps. Geunsuk looked like he was panicking. He was assisting Bomi but he was also looking around, searching for someone, probably Jaejoong. Suddenly, it dawned on me… She was going into labor! Oh sh!t.
“Ga In let’s find Jaejoong, Bomi’s about to give birth.”
“What?!? o—o-okay.” Ga in, holding her gown to keep herself from tripping, ran towards the stage. She would probably have Jaejoong paged. Good thinking. I scanned the room, my eyes looking at Bomi every once in a while, making sure that she’s still okay. Just then I spotted Jaejoong hyung with Yoochun hyung. I quickly hurried towards them.
“Hyung!”
Seeing my worried expression, they frowned.
“What’s wrong Changmin?” Yoochun asked. Jaejoong remained silent, waiting for my reply.
“We have to take Ms. Bomi to the hospital quick! She’s going to give birth!”
Jaejoong choked on his wine. Yoochun dropped his drink, breaking the glass into pieces.
“WHAT DID YOU SAY?!?!” They both exclaimed.
Mindlessly giving the empty champagne flute to a passing student, Jaejoong immediately ran to the center of the dance floor. Yoochun paced to the stage and informed Yeonhee of the situation. I can see Yeonhee looking surprised and alarmed at the same time.
“Ga in!” I called out to my date. She was looking for me.
“Did you manage to find Sir Jaejoong?”
I nodded, “Don’t worry.”
We watched as Jaejoong walked towards the entrance of the hall, his wife in his arms. Geunsuk and his girlfriend were tailing behind them, carrying Bomi’s shawl and purse. The students were curious, but sensing the urgency in their movements they cleared the way.
“Changmin, c’mon, we’ll follow them to the hospital.” I heard Yoochun say as he draws a worried Yeonhee to his side.
We all rushed to our cars, praying that Bomi will get to the hospital in time and have a safe delivery as well.

The perilous time is over.
Bomi gave birth to healthy baby girl. The labor was long and difficult. Jaejoong never left her side even for a minute. He was deathly pale by the end of the delivery, trembling and sweating. Yoochun fetched Geunjoo from their home. Geunjoo was a bit confused at first, because he didn’t know what was going on, but when he arrived at the hospital with his uncle he was crying. He got scared because his mother was inside the DR for a long time. He only stopped crying when his father stepped out the room carrying his baby sister. But Jaejoong only stayed for a while because he needed to check up on Bomi again. Everybody went to the nursery after that. All were relieved that nothing bad had happened to the mother and child and also, excited to welcome the new addition to the family.
Bomi’s P.O.V.
I was confined. The doctors advised me to stay for a few days. I turned my head, hearing my husband grumble about fruit peelings being a big nuisance to happy eating. Jaejoong was sitting on the bed beside me. I smiled. He was supportive during the delivery, never letting go of my hand even if I knew that I was almost near to crushing it.
“Jae…” I whispered, looking up at him.
“Hmm…” He was slicing the apple to chunks.
“Thank you.” I said simply.
He then looked at me, “What for?”
“For not leaving my side... I was really afraid the first time I gave birth. No one was with me back then. I was all alone. I just prayed the whole time. I prayed that you would miraculously come bursting through the doors; that you would whisper words of encouragement in my ears whenever I feel too tired to push. Jaejoong, thank you for being here this time around.” I kissed him on the cheek before snuggling close to him.
Putting the apple aside, he smiled. Putting his arm over my shoulder, he replied, “You were amazing back there. I’ve never seen someone strive that much. You didn’t complain. You didn’t even curse me.” He chuckled,”I was expecting that you would since most wives do when they are in pain and in labor.” He cleared his throat, “I think I should be the one saying thanks to you.” He gazed at me with loving eyes, “Thank you, Bomi, for giving me beautiful children. For accepting me back into your life. I have never said this to you before because I wasn’t ready then, but now I think it’s time.” He took my hand. Bringing it to his lips, he kissed the back of it. I felt my eyes water with emotion. He sighed, “I love you, angel. Forever.”
I hugged him tight, unable to say anything anymore because my throat feels clogged up. I know that I didn’t have to say the three words back just to convey how much I love him. He knows… and that is all that matters.
Suddenly, the door to my room opened. My family and friends---they visit everyday. Disentangling myself from my husband, I turned towards them.
“Sorry to interrupt the sweet moment but we just have to see how you’re doing today.” Yeonhee gave me a bouquet of fresh flowers, smiling. She told me yesterday that Yoochun oppa already proposed to her, and that she said yes. I feel so happy for them.
“Changmin, who do you think she takes after? Bomi or Jaejoong?” Yoochun oppa, who took the baby from the hospital cradle sitting near my bed, lovingly cooed to his niece when he felt her stir. Changmin, who was busy placing the platters of food on the table, stopped for a minute and stared at Cho Hae.
“I think Jaejoong hyung’s genes won again. She got Ms. Bomi’s eyes though.”
Yoochun oppa just nodded, “I think so too.” He sighed, “I was hoping to see a mini Bomi this time.” Jaejoong threw a pillow, aiming my brother’s head. I giggled, “Stop that.”
“YAH! Watch the food!” We heard Changmin yell.
And then there was a loud crash.
We all looked towards the open door and saw Geunsuk sprawled on the floor. He immediately stood up and dusted his clothes. He smiled at us, slightly embarrassed, “Sorry, I slipped.”
Changmin let out a wail, “Waahh… Ga In’s home-made dishes are now inedible.” Eyes narrowing, he made a grab for our friend’s collar,”YAH! Geunsuk, you’re dead. You hear me? You’re so DEAD!!!” Geunsuk swiftly exited the room, running for his dear life. Changmin ran after Geunsuk, determined to make him pay for his crime.
“Are you sure you want to make him Cho Hae’s godfather? You can still change your mind you know.” I heard Jaejoong whisper.
“Of course, I’m certain. Geunsuk will spoil her rotten.” I smiled, remembering the gifts Geunsuk bought for our daughter the other day. “He’ll be a great godfather, trust me.”
“Fine,” Jaejoong took a bite from his apple, looking unconvinced. “But I’m going to watch his every move. I don’t want my daughter growing up a punk like him.”
I laughed.
“Eomma. Appa.”
We looked at our son who was climbing up the bed, rubbing his eyes. He didn’t sleep the past night. He watched his sister sleep throughout the night. I think he can’t still believe that his most-awaited playmate is already here. Reaching for him, I carefully sat him on my lap, “What is it, honey?”
“Everything’s really, really, really okay now right?” He asked us, looking sleepy.
“Yes, son, everything’s okay now. We’re all healthy and in high spirits.” Jaejoong, affectionately ruffling his hair, assured him. “We’re together. Our family’s wonderfully intact...everything’s great.”
Our son didn’t get to respond though; he’s already dozing off in my arms. I leaned on Jaejoong and watched the people I love happily bicker around me. I smiled. Who would’ve thought that with that last ray of courage that sprung inside me, which made me leave my husband and my painful life behind, I would be able to find love once again.
Like the shards of ice melting at the dawn of spring, falling in love the second time with same person is a chance that anyone can have but rarely encounters. Entrusting your heart with the person who had hurt you in the past is difficult, but as the winter season bids farewell and the earth welcomes its blossoms, hope spreads its wings and engulfs your entirety with warmth and optimism. Love for me is like that. Learning how to forgive, taking the risk and accepting Jaejoong once more, hoping that he’ll never hurt me again, is the ultimate sign of my love for him.
Knowing that I have given my everything to him is enough. Having him and my children in my life is enough.
I am content.
I am blissful.
I am Kim Bomi.
