Ka Ying turned her face away from him.
Alex’s rage was still burning. He grabbed Wilson and howled, “You stole from my business, I can tolerate you! You stabbed me at the land auction, I can stand it! Even you took Ka Ying from me, I can still accept it as long as you treat her well and she’s happy! But why?! You won her heart then ruined her!” He gave another heavy punch on his face.
Wilson did not argue; he deserved it.
“If you want to revenge, go ahead and take it on me! Ka Ying is innocent and should not be involved! She’s devoted to you but you hurt her over and over again!” Alex struck on his belly.
Wilson fell on the floor holding his body painfully. He let Alex hit him without fighting back at all. The pain he was suffering could reduce his sense of guilt to Ka Ying.
Alex kicked Wilson until Ka Ying ran over and pulled Alex, “Stop it Alex! You’ll kill him!” She pleaded while still weeping. It stung her heart when she saw Wilson rolling on the floor with blood and bruises all over his body.
Alex breathed heavily as he finally stopped.
“Ka Ying!” Alex turned to her.
“Ka Ying…forgive me…” Wilson uttered deadly. He struggled to crawl up while gazing at her.
She looked at the two men in front of her as her tears burst out. She shook her head and ran out the door.
“Ka Ying!” Alex chased after her.
It was raining heavily outside. Ka Ying kept running and running. She had no idea where she was heading to; she only wanted to escape.
“Where are you going?” Alex followed her, “It’s raining and cold!” He finally caught up with her and grabbed her arm, “Let’s go back first! You don’t even have a jacket on and you’ll get sick!”
Ka Ying tried to swing him away, “Please leave me alone! I don’t want to see any one of you!”
Alex turned her around and gazed at her. He was shocked and heartbroken to have found out how much she had suffered, “I always thought you rejected my proposal to you because you didn’t like me! Ka Ying, you actually wanted to marry me! Why didn’t you tell me? Why didn’t you tell me what Wilson had done to you?! You know I would protect you, no matter what, I would!”
“Even if I told you at that time, it happened already and what can you do? Would you still keep your promise and marry me?” Ka Ying cried sadly.
“I would! Definitely I would! It wasn’t your fault, Ka Ying!” Alex said firmly.
“No it was my fault! I was naïve and stupid! I was stupid enough to believe that Wilson really loves me!” Ka Ying pushed him away.
“Please don’t blame yourself! You didn’t do anything wrong. And now you finally realize Wilson’s true face!” Alex would not release her.
“It’s too late now!” Ka Ying cried in despair.
“No! It’s never too late! If you’re still willing, we can start from scratch and we can still be together!” Alex embraced her tightly, “You know I’m always waiting for you. I’ve never changed my heart to you even after we separated!”
“No!” Ka Ying was horrified by Alex’s thoughts, “I can’t forgive myself for doing that! Alex, it’s impossible for us to be together again!” She struggled in his arms but he would not let her go.
Both of them became completely wet under rain and water was dripping down their faces. Suddenly, Alex felt her body softened. She closed her eyes and fell.
“Ka Ying!” Alex panicked and supported her. Ka Ying had fainted. He scanned the surroundings and it was an empty beach with no one around under this horrible weather. He quickly took off his jacket to cover her head and body. Without hesitation, he carried her at his back and rushed to find a clinic.

Ka Ying slowly opened her eyes. She tried to remember what had happened and where she was now.
“Ka Ying, are you ok?” Alex approached her.
She tried to get up and she felt dizzy and her whole body lacking energy.
“You fainted! And you’re at a clinic right now. You caught a cold and have a high fever. The doctor said you’re very weak and need more rest!” Alex said.
She slightly dropped down her head and touched her clothes. She wanted to ask but was too tired to speak.
Alex understood, “The rain was so heavy that we both got completely wet. After I settled you down at this clinic, I went to a souvenir shop nearby and bought some clothes. The nurse changed it for you.”
Ka Ying nodded.
He continued, “Let me go get the doctor.”
The doctor soon came in and checked on her, “You should be alright. Just make sure you take the medicine on time and have good rest. Remember to drink more water and don’t catch a cold again!”
“Thanks.” Alex got the prescriptions for Ka Ying.
The nurse wondered, “Where is your cabin and is it far away? She’s still very weak and can’t walk for long.”
“No problem. I will carry her back to the cabin. The rain has stopped.” Alex said.
“On your back again?” The nurse amazed, “You already carried her on the way here under the rain! Be careful and don’t get too tired or hurt yourself! We don’t expect to see you to be our patient tomorrow!”
“I’ll be fine. Thanks.” He lifted Ka Ying onto this back and hanged the bag with their wet clothes on his arm. Ka Ying was too sick to refuse. She had no choice.
“Wow.” The nurse was jealous, “I wished my boyfriend can be as caring as you are!”
On their way to the cabin, Alex did not say one word. He was very tired and also wanted Ka Ying to take more rest. Soon, she felt asleep on his back.
After twenty minutes of tough walk, they finally arrived at the cabin. Alex slowly placed Ka Ying on the bed and put the quilt on her. He went out to the living room and leaned tiredly on the couch.
When Ka Ying woke up again, it was already dark outside. She peeked out the door and saw Alex sleeping quietly on the couch. He must be very exhausted today. She tried to reach the cup for some water but accidentally tipped over it.
The noise awakened Alex. He ran in, “What happened? Did you hurt yourself?”
“No…” She said softly, “I…want to drink…some water.”
“Here.” He handed it to her, “No wonder you’re thirsty. It’s almost 11pm.” He looked at his watch, “Are you hungry?”
She shook her head, “You can still catch the last ferry. You don’t have to stay with me.”
“Can you not be so stubborn sometimes?” Alex was a little upset, “You’re very sick and someone got to take care of you! I will go the kitchen and check if there’s anything to eat. You have to eat something before taking your medicine. Even if you don’t eat, I still need to. I’m starving.”
Ka Ying looked out to the living room, “Where’s he?”
“Wilson…that jerk? He’s long gone! I didn’t see him when we came back from the clinic. Who cares where he is…probably fell down the water from the ferry and dead by now.” Alex walked to the kitchen.

Ka Ying finally moved back to her old home with her family. Mrs. Wong had no idea what had happened. Ka Ying only summarized it brief enough that she broke up with Wilson and Wilson was beaten up by Alex. Mrs. Wong was confused but for her loving daughter, she still agreed to go to Wilson’s place for Ka Ying to pack away the clothes and most of the belongings. Of course, there were still a lot of things in the house that only Ka Ying herself can clear them up. Yes, there were still a lot of things that ultimately she would have to clear them all up with Wilson. But at this time, she did not want to see him at all. She did not even want to step into his house to recall any of her memories with him.
When Mrs. Wong went to his house, Wilson was also there. What surprised her was that this time Wilson had no rude attitude or bad temper. He just stood there quietly, watching Mrs. Wong taking Ka Ying’s things away. When she saw his poor expression, plus the band-aids and bruises all over his face, she did not even bother scolding him.

“Mr. Fong…” Wilson’s secretary knocked in his office nervously.
“What’s the matter?” He looked up and saw two men in suit walking into his office.
They flashed their ID, “We are from Business Crime Investigation. Mr. Wilson Fong, you are under suspect for bribery and use of un-regulatory materials in your construction.”
