“You’re sure very brave to go sky-diving! When was it?” Lily asked.
“A few years ago...when I was eighteen.” Siu Wai turned to Pauline, “You went on that trip too! But you didn’t dare to try!”
“Yes that was a club outing trip in high school.” Pauline remembered and laughed. She had known Siu Wai since high school, “No way! That was too scary for me. I only joined the trip because most of us were going. I’d rather stay on the ground to watch your belongings and take pictures. You were the only girl who actually ended up playing anyway!”
Mike was excited, “How does it feel like? It’s fun that they video-taped the whole thing for you!”
The screen showed a younger Siu Wai on the jet, looking giggly and excited, and made a ‘V’ gesture to the camera. Along with her on the jet were a few more people, all young guys. Soon it was her turn to jump. She walked to the open-door of the jet with a coach.
“Whoa! You’re about to jump down!” Alex screamed and slapped Siu Wai’s shoulder agitatedly. “Look! Siu Wai, look!”
“I know that, Alex. You don’t need to be a commentary and explain to me.” Siu Wai rubbed her shoulder.
Immediately, the screen showed Siu Wai jumping down with her coach. Her hair flew wildly with the strong wind and her face all twisted and squashed from air pressure. She laughed and screamed happily. At this time, the parachute popped open and her motions slowed down. She looked relieved and waved at the camera, mumbling stuffs like “Super exciting!” and “Beautiful scenery!”
“Ooooo.” Their friends were astonished and cheered at this thrilling game.
“It seems like Wilson hasn’t made any comments?” Myolie turned to Wilson, “What do you think of your girlfriend playing such a great sports?”
“Wilson?” All the people turned their attention to Wilson and found him squirming on the sofa, hiding behind Siu Wai’s back and peeking at the TV. He had a big cushion in his hug and looked totally freaked out.

After the dinner BBQ, the young people were full but began to feel bored. They sat on the floor in the living room and surrounded together to play card game Big 2.
“Full house Fives!” Lily put out her cards.
“Four of a kind Eights.” Mike called and put out his set.
“Haha, four of a kind Twos.” Alex laughed loudly, “I’m the winner!”
The other people complained, “How can you be holding four Twos? You must be cheating!”
“No I didn’t!” Alex tried to hide his remaining cards. He blinked at Wilson who was sitting beside him.
“Why did you blink at Wilson?” Lily yelled, “You two must be cheating together!”
“I’m not involved!” Wilson was innocent. Alex was caught and tried to drag poor Wilson with him.
It was getting chaotic and the card game was certainly ruined. Myolie said, “Let’s play something else! Any idea?”
“We can do fortune telling with cards! Pauline is good at that!” Lily suggested.
“Sure!” Everyone agreed. This was always a popular game for young people.
“Every card has its own meaning. For every prediction, we pick out three cards and interpret them together. I hope I can remember all the codes.” Pauline began to organize and distribute the playing cards, “We can predict things happening after certain number of years. How about if we pick ten for now? We can see what will happen ten years later.”
Pauline’s idea sounded good to everyone.
“Who wants to go first?” Quiet Keith was eased up and excited too. He looked at Wilson sitting across from him, “Wilson, how about we start with you, then go clockwise?”
Wilson peeked at Siu Wai. She nodded as she was keen on this fun game, so he agreed, “Ok, I’ll be the first one.”
Pauline shovelled the cards and flipped three cards over, “Ten years from now, Wilson will be very successful and have lots of money.”
Wilson shrugged his shoulder and smiled. It was a satisfactory and reasonable answer. He was happy about that prediction.
Other people cheered, “Rich man Wilson! CEO Wilson!”
“Next one is Siu Wai.” Pauline shovelled the cards again and slowly turned three over. She looked amazed and fell in silence.
“What does that mean?” Siu Wai was curious.
“Yeah…what is that prediction about?” Other people paced Pauline too. They wanted to know and started giggling, “Come on, tell us! Maybe she’ll turn into a big fat woman?”
Pauline mumbled, “All blank…what does that mean? Ten years from now, she’s…blank?! All three cards show a blank?”
“What is a ‘blank’?” Mike asked.
“…The cards don’t see a future of Siu Wai ten years from now.” Pauline’s voice started trembling, “How can Siu Wai be a ‘blank’ ten years later? The cards can’t find Siu Wai anywhere ten years later. I’m afraid that means…”
Siu Wai tried to laugh it over but her smile steadily frozen. She felt uncomfortable and stunned.
Other people started mumbling to each other about this mysterious result.
“Shut up!” Wilson yelled and glared at the other people. He tightly hugged Siu Wai who was bewildering and shivering.
Everyone abruptly quieted down. The atmosphere inside the cottage suddenly turned tense and uneasily spooky.
Alex tried to relief the tension. He laughed, “Forget about Siu Wai! It must be some technical problems there. Let’s try me.”
Pauline puffed out, “Ok, let’s see Alex is like ten years from now.” She thoroughly scrambled the cards. She took a deep breath and turned three cards over.
“What do they say?” Alex wondered. The corner of his eyes caught Myolie stealing a look at him. Myolie realized Alex was looking back at her and she quickly turned away. Alex felt his own heart beats turning weird.
“Monk.” Pauline said.
“What? I’ll become a monk at a temple?” Alex focused back on the game and screamed. Everyone laughed.
“No no no.” Pauline explained, “We have to interpret the other two cards too. It has to do with your love, your…desire…”
“What are you talking about?” Alex did not understand and was impatient.
“That means your love life is deserted.” Pauline looked embarrassed, “To make it clear, you will have no sex…”
All the people gave a big guffaw. Alex yelled, “Gosh, it’s only that one year, right? We did ten years later. Come on, let’s go one year backward. We’ll see nine years from now!”
Pauline shoveled the cards and did it again. The same result turned out.
“What kind of game is this? No! I have to see one more year backward!” Alex insisted.
Pauline did it one more time. She bit her lips trying not to laugh out, “Same thing.”
Alex was upset while his friends were snorting. Mike laughed so hard and rolled on the floor, “Alex, how old are you eight years from now? Twenty-eight…twenty-nine? How can you… and last for that many years? There must be something wrong with you and I suggest you go do a body check-up.”
“Hey you’re so mean and nasty!” Alex wondered, “What does that mean? That many years later, maybe I’m still a …? Quite impossible! Poor me…”
“What did you just mumble to yourself, Alex?” Mike approached him, “You are still one until today?”
The girls’ faces turned red but could not hold on and bursted out their laughs.
“Hey! What’s wrong with that?” Alex complained, “Yes, I’m still a pure little boy.”
Everyone booed him and their game turned into dirty talks. Lily whined and threw potato chips at the guys. They fought back and started chasing each other in the house.

Wilson and Siu Wai walked out to the beach. Wilson climbed up a big rock and helped Siu Wai up. They sat down and leaned on each other.
“This morning we came here for a sunbath. Now we’re here for a moonlight bath!”
Siu Wai did not say anything.
“What’s happening?” He stroked her hair, “Are you still thinking about that fortune telling game?”
