“We still get together for lunch sometime at work. It’s not like you don’t see me in ages.” Wilson smiled.
“When is Siu Wai coming back?” Alex asked.
“She’s only going for four days…should be back this Saturday evening.” Wilson looked unhappy, “She’s very excited because this is her first business trip and also her first time to Tokyo.”
“But you look worried.” Alex wondered.
“Because she’s going with that Ron.” Wilson sighed, “The project involves his productions company as well. Siu Wai said in this trip, the crew has ten people from her company, and five or six from his.”
“Then there’s nothing to worry about!” Alex comforted him, “There are so many people with them…nothing will happen.”
“You never know about that Ron. He’s an annoying bug, on and off around Siu Wai.” Wilson sneered, “Just can’t get rid of him.”
“Well, don’t thinking about that for now. I think dinner’s almost ready!” Alex tapped his shoulder. They walked over to the dining room.
“Wow, this dish looks delicious!” Wilson smiled.
Yung jei put the plates on the table and was happy with Wilson’s appreciation.
Alex stuck his head over, “Yung jei knew you’re coming over for dinner, so she’s make your favourite spicy pork chop!”
“Thanks Yung jei!” Wilson cheered, “Let me help you.” He organized the chopsticks.
“Yung jei always loves you…probably more than loving me.” Alex was jealous.
“I love you both!” Yung jei settled them at the dinner table, “I will get the soup out and everything is ready. Lou yeh should be on his way back.”
“Uncle is joining us for dinner?” Wilson asked Alex.
“He’s been home for dinner very often recently. His last body check found his blood pressure very high. Doctor said he should eat at home more often, the food itself is healthier and he can eat slower and more relax.” Alex bumped Wilson, “See, we haven’t chatted for a while and you didn’t know about this.”
“You must be busy too. Shirley’s just back to Hong Kong.” Wilson teased Alex, “You won’t have time for me as well! Call her out for dinner sometime. Siu Wai and I haven’t met her since she arrived.”
“Sure.” Alex said, “By the way, if dad asks you about last night, make sure you tell him I stayed at your place last night.”
“Why?” Wilson wondered, “Where were you last night? You stayed out and didn’t come back home to sleep?”
Alex rolled his eyes and whispered, “I was at Shirley’s place last night. Her parents were gone travelling in Macau…”
“You pervert.” Wilson chuckled.
Alex and Wilson walked out of the kitchen. At the same time, Mr. Yiu came back.
“Uncle!” Wilson greeted.
“Wilson? You’re here for dinner too?” Mr. Yiu smiled.
“Dinner’s ready.” Yung jei approached, “Lou yeh, Siu yeh, Wilson siu yeh, please have dinner now.”
The three of them sat down and began to eat. Mr. Yiu chatted casually, “Alex, how’s work so far?”
“So far so good…I guess.” Alex said. For the past few months, his father had been giving him mostly old files and reports to look at. Sometimes, he simply asked Alex to visit different departments and sit there for a few days to watch how things worked. He wanted Alex to build a better foundation and understand the business operations more.
Wilson kept quiet as he did not find a gap to join the conversation between the father and son, who were both his boss. Alex could not reach the plate of vegetables. Wilson saw that and naturally scooped some for him. He was used to take care of Alex.
“A while ago, you prepared that analysis report for the Construction Division. It’s not bad, quite clear and well-thought, but definitely has room for improvements in the future.” Mr. Yiu appreciated it.
Alex was surprised and happy, but Wilson should also take credits for it, “Thanks dad. Actually, that report…”
Wilson abruptly interrupted, “Have a piece of this pork chop. It’s good. Uncle, try one.” He picked one and put into Mr. Yiu’s bowl.
Alex peeked at Wilson. Wilson rolled his eyes and slightly shook his head.
Mr. Yiu caught that in his eyes, but he pretended he did not see it and kept quiet.
Wilson scooped more vegetables for Alex and started filling up his bowl. Alex complained, “I have enough, Wilson.”
“Vegetables are good for you. You eat too much junk food.” Wilson lectured him as usual.
Alex whined, “I’m not Siu Wai and you don’t have to babysit me like that…”
Mr. Yiu looked at the two friends and fell in deep thought.
After dinner, Alex accompanied Wilson to the bus stop, “Sure you don’t need a ride?”
“This bus is really convenient. It stops right in front of my place.” Wilson said.
Alex looked at him, “Why didn’t you let me tell dad that you did the report for you?”
“Alex, you did the report yourself.” Wilson smiled.
“But you checked over it and made lots of the changes for me.” Alex bit his lips.
Wilson patted his shoulder, “Don’t you always say that uncle rarely praises you? Well, this time, he really appreciates your work. There’s no need to let him know the un-necessary parts. All he needs to care is you’ve done a great job, gives you a thumb-up, and both of you are happy.”
“Wilson.” Alex was touched on how Wilson helped him.

Wilson and Siu Wai walked out from the airport. Siu Wai said to her co-workers, “Bye everyone! See you all at work on Monday!”
“Bye! Serena!” Her co-workers scattered and left. Ron walked away with a couple people. He turned around and waved at Siu Wai. She smiled and responded to him. Wilson glared at Ron and immediately wrapped his arm around Siu Wai’s waist to signal.
Siu Wai played with the rose Wilson bought her. He promised to buy her flowers every time she hopped off the plane, so this time he bought her a rose…one rose.
Wilson peeked at her and hinted, “How’s the trip? You had fun? How were your co-workers…for example Ron?”
“Huh?” Siu Wai did not understand.
“…nothing…” Wilson stopped, or she might get mad. He was confident that Ron did not dare to do anything during the trip though.
Siu Wai stretched her arms.
“Tired?” Wilson asked Siu Wai as they were lining up for taxi.
“Of course.” Siu Wai complained, “The Japanese are crazy workaholics. We basically did the filming day and night. Even on the last day when we finally finished work, we had to go out with the Japanese team and ‘socialize’. Gosh, that was so stressful. So we went clubbing throughout the night to relax.”
“You drank.” Wilson said.
“Of course.” Siu Wai whispered.
“You smoked.” Wilson frowned.
“…yeah…kind of…” Siu Wai mumbled.
“And don’t tell me you hardly slept for the past three nights.” Wilson opened his eyes widely.
Siu Wai stuck out her tongue, “I slept a bit on the plane on the way back.”
“Siu Wai.”
“I’m ok!” Siu Wai giggled, “I’m still energetic! I can still go out and play around. Are we having dinner with Alex tonight? It’s almost 7pm now!”
“He suggested it, but I’m afraid you are too tired.” Wilson was worried.
“I ain’t sleepy! Before I left for Japan, Alex promised to bring me to this Indian restaurant to see belly dancing.” Siu Wai was excited, “Let me call him now.”
The two couples walked out of the restaurant happily. Siu Wai bounced, “That was fun! Belly dancer…wow she can really shake…” She imitated the dancer.
They laughed.
“Siu Wai, you didn’t sleep for three days and still can dance like this.” Alex heaved, “I suspect you have hyperactive disorder. Go see a doctor sometime or you’ll turn insane and start stabbing people.”
Siu Wai scrunched her face for an evil look, “You’re right, and you will be the first victim.” She slapped Alex’s head.
Alex immediately hid behind Wilson, “Save me!”
“Alright, enough for tonight!” Wilson giggled, “Alex, let Siu Wai go so she can have a good rest. You can accompany Shirley. I can bring Siu Wai home.”
“Wilson, did you say you need to go back to the office tomorrow to finish off something?” Alex asked.
“Yes.” Wilson said. Tomorrow was Sunday but he needed to rush his work for the deadline.
“Ok, bye and goodnight!” Alex and Shirley waved and left.
Wilson turned to Siu Wai, “I will bring you home first.”
“What’s the time now?” Siu Wai looked at her watch, “9pm? Hey, just the right time for the next showtime. Let’s go watch the new movie Speed. It’s hot. There’s a cinema across the street.”
“Siu Wai, aren’t you sleepy?” Wilson asked caringly.
“I’m not!” Siu Wai tried to open her eyes widely to show Wilson. Actually she was tired; she just did not want to admit it.
“Anyway, you need to go back home and sleep.” Wilson said.
“If we don’t go to see the movies…hm…did you say you bought a new Disney VCD for me? Let’s go and watch it at your place.” Siu Wai bargained, “Please.”
Wilson knew he could not argue with her. He nodded, “Alright, just for while.”
Siu Wai cheered.
