Chapter 29

Andrew hugged Kylie tightly, “I know, Kylie. You’ve been a very good mother of Anson. I know.”

Kylie cried, “I do everything I could to protect him. I do everything I could to teach him to become a good person. But…I feel so lonely. I’m always by myself. Even you, Andrew. Not that you don’t stand by my side to bring up Anson. But you purposely go against me. I don’t know how to explain myself to you. Maybe all I’ve been doing to Anson is wrong. I don’t know what else I can do anymore. I’m stressed out. I’m totally stressed out.”

Andrew was heartbroken, “No Kylie! You aren’t alone! You and Anson are both as important…both are my life! I love Anson too! I’m always too busy with work and seldom spend time with him. So whenever I have the chance to stay with him, I’m desperate to see his lovely smiles. I want him to be happy. So…I listen to him, I get him everything he asks for. I just want to give the best to Anson. I thought…I’m giving the best to him.”

Kylie looked at him.

“I’m a lousy daddy.” Andrew was sad, “I’m such a lousy daddy.”

“No Andrew. No.” Kylie shook her head and fell on his shoulder.

“Anson will be ok. He’ll get well really soon.” Andrew patted her.

Kylie held onto him and dropped her tears.

Although Kylie did not say it out, Andrew knew what was in her mind. A crack had formed between their relationship, since a long time ago. Probably because after 7 years of marriage, all the passion between them had become calm and plain. Or probably because their love and concentration had all turned to Anson, and the couple forgot or did not care anymore to care of each other. Or probably because Andrew was always away from home for work, and a gap between the couple became wider and wider.

He felt the same.

Both of them actually noticed it for a long time, but neither of them took the first move to fix the problem.

“I love you, Kylie.” Andrew uttered.

Kylie looked up at Andrew; his words were stunning but heart-rendering, “…do you realize? You haven’t said that to me for a long long time.”

Andrew was shocked too. Yes, it seemed to be long ago since the last time he said so to his wife.

“Andrew.” Kylie was touched. She leaned in his hug.

“Will be ok. Everything will be ok.” Andrew gave her the comfort and security.

Anson turned better the next day. His family all went to see him at the hospital. Grandma and grandpa were heartbroken to see the sweet boy on the sick bed. They scolded Andrew for not taking good care of Anson, and Andrew accepted it.

“Poor me.” Andrew smiled bitterly to Kylie, “In my first 25 years of life, mom and dad never raised their voice at me. Ever since Anson was born, I’m no longer their sweetheart; Anson replaces me. My mom and dad scolded me. Hm…mom and dad scolded me.”

Kylie tenderly caressed his childish face, “Silly.”

Wallace got the call from Kylie in the office. He immediately put his work aside and came to check on Anson.

The pitiful boy leaned weakly on the bed and stared at Uncle Wallace.

“Oh Anson baby…” Wallace cuddled, “How did you get so sick? Are you feeling better now?”

Anson coughed a little.

Wallace stroked his cheeks, “At least fever goes away. That’s good.”

Anson bit his lips and hugged tightly to his teddy bear.

“What a baby.” Wallace smiled how Anson still hung on to this teddy bear. Wallace still remembered when Anson was still a baby, that day, his parents were returning from their ‘honeymoon’ trip. Wallace carried Anson and wandered around in the mall to wait for his parents. Anson saw this teddy bear and immediately grabbed onto it, so Wallace bought it for him. He was amazed how Anson loved it so much and still hugged it to sleep every night now.

Time flies. Anson is already 5 years old.

Wallace stood in the hallway and talked on the cell phone, “…hm…yes. Anson’s doing fine. He should be going home tomorrow. Don’t worry….you can go visit him later on when he’s home. Yup…bye for now…” He hung up and saw Andrew staring at him.

“Was that Sabrina?” Andrew asked.

“Hm.” Wallace was about to leave, “Got to go back to the office now. Bye…”

Andrew noticed it, “Wallace, you’re odd these days. We asked you and Sabrina a few times to come over for dinner, but you find excuses every time. Look at yourself…you look so tired and wear out. What’s happening?”

Wallace sighed.

“Something wrong with your law firm? Your parents?...Godparents? No I just met them last week and they’re fine…” Andrew made wild guesses.

“I’ve moved out. Sabrina and I…might be breaking up.” Wallace uttered.

“What?!” Andrew was absolutely shocked. He can never imagine this, “You two are such a cozy loving couple! How can that happen at all? What’s going on?”

Wallace did not want to explain. He scratched his head stressfully, “…I know I’ve hurt Sabrina.”

“What did you do to her?” Andrew frowned, “Remember what you have promised me before you married her? You said you’ll love and take care of her forever.”

“…I don’t know…I really don’t know…” Wallace shook his head.

Andrew made a big fuss. He dashed into the ward and raised his voice, “…Kylie! Wallace said he’s…”

Wallace turned around and left.

**********************************
Wallace spent all this attention on his work. He did not even realize time was passing by. When he finally raised his head from the documents and looked at the clock on his desk, it was already 9pm. Wallace stepped out of his office, it was obvious that everyone had left. He sighed and turned off the lights. He locked up the doors and left.

“Haha…” A few people wobbled out from the pub and almost bumped onto Wallace. They were obviously drunk.

Wallace passed by the pub and heard the loud music coming out. He scanned around and decided to go in to vent out his frustration stuck in his chest.

“Another shot?” The bartender asked.

“Yup.” Wallace leaned on the bar table. He was getting dozy after a few drinks.

“…Hi.” A young girl in tubetop and mini skirt approached, “Can I grab a seat here?”

Wallace rolled his eyes and peeked. He did not object.

The girl sat down beside him, “Mind to buy me a drink?”

Wallace uttered, “Sure.”

“Thanks.” The girl waved the bartender and pointed at Wallace’s shot, “Same for me then.”

Wallace ignored her and continued with his drinks. His face turned flushy red.

“I was sitting over there at the corner. You’re by yourself? Looks like something is bothering you.” The girl asked.

Wallace shrugged his shoulder.

“Need some accompany tonight?” The girl approached his face.

“Huh?” Wallace blurry responded. He stared at her. Indeed, the girl was very appealing.

“I’m bored too.” The girl whispered in a tempting tone. Her fingertips stroked up and down his chest.

Wallace was moved, but suddenly he raised his hand and flashed his wedding ring.

The girl laughed, “Just for some fun tonight.”

Wallace wobbled up and wrapped his arm around her waist.

The girl was happy that she found her pest tonight, “Definitely not to your place. So my place or motel?”

“…doesn’t matter.” Wallace leaned on her. He sniffed her perfume and kissed her neck.

“Hey…no rush…” The girl giggled. Her eyes glowed at this good-looking guy. She turned around and waved at her friends.

Her friends, all young girls with eye-catching make up and sexy skirts, waved her goodbye and continued their search for guys in the pub.

For one-night stand.

“…what’s your name?” Wallace mumbled.

“Mary.” The girl smirked. Of course it was just a fake name, “How about you?”

“…” The honest Wallace did not know how to answer instantly.

“Alright, you’ll be John tonight.” Mary made it up for him.

Wallace and Mary left the pub. They took a taxi and went into a motel.

================================
Mary dragged the drunk Wallace into the motel room. They fell and rolled into the bed. Mary pinned Wallace down and gazed at him. Wow. What a gorgeous face and body figure. She almost drooled.

“…?” Wallace did not move.

“Hm…” Mary took the first move and caressed his lips. Her hands got busy and started ripped off his shirt.

Her passion and eagerness was an unresitable temptation to a man. Wallace responded to her lips and stroked down her body.
