“Is that a yes or a no?” he asked again, regarding her smile.
“You think?”
And she brought him back to the very first answer she gave him.
Jo—that girl was just so mysterious and unpredictable. Talking to her almost felt like you were trying to find an answer to a riddle; like… you had to be extra careful when you wanted to ask for clues… or you might ended up going back to where you started
While he was absorbed in the thoughts of her, suddenly he saw her walking alone, past some students who didn’t seem to take a notice of her, into the woods. Instinctively, he put down the guitar and pulled himself up to go after her.
As she was walking carefully through a small path, he found himself was intensely lured to keep following her.
Where was she heading?
What kind of thing that she was looking for in this camping trip?
Why wasn’t she afraid of going into the woods all by herself?
He realized that every little thing she did had quite raised his inquisitiveness.
At first, he was thinking of calling out for her and told her to come back to the camping base, as it was too dangerous to roam around the woods all by herself. But then he thought... it was not a good idea, as she might ask him back the reason of why he had been following her. So he remained as quiet as possible, following her from a certain distance so that she won’t be aware of his presence.
After about ten minutes of walking, he started to hear the sound of a waterfall, and finally, he realized where she was heading to.
She paced towards the sound of the waterfall; seemingly excited to find the place she had been looking for. He quickly rushed himself, afraid of losing the sight of her. She climbed up a small grassy hill, just before the waterfall, and after she arrived at the top, she dropped herself to sit on the soft grass.
Silently, he walked towards her.
He had been standing right behind her for almost one minute, but she didn’t seem to notice at all. He remained silent as he watched her extending both her arms, viewing the waterfall in front of her with a rectangle she formed from both her index fingers and thumbs.
What was she doing? Taking an imaginary picture?
And why did every little thing she did just seemed to... interest him?
Or was it HER whom he interested with?
He didn’t know either...
Everything was just so hard to explain...

“Is this the way you have fun when you’re alone?”
What the...—who the...?
She glanced up and met a pair of small eyes that looked too familiar. The ones that only one person in the university had...
The eyes of Jay Chou...
“You’ve been following me?” she furrowed her forehead, unbelief and confused to find him here.
“You think you’re the only one who knows about this place?” he grinned, showing off his bunny teeth.
She only gave him a shrug-- this was her way to respond without the need to explain anything.
“What are you doing here?” he crouched beside her.
“Searching for inspiration,” she said as she darted her eyes to view the waterfall rushing down into the river. The ripples of water were dancing on the surface, while the bright afternoon sky reflect on the water surface, accentuating it to appear as bright and as blue as the sky.
“I see,” he nodded.
He seemed to understand her reluctance to talk much, so he just sat beside her quietly as they both enjoyed the beautiful nature.
She loved this kind of atmosphere, where she could only hear the sound of the water dashing against water, and nothing else.
And with him sitting beside her,
Somehow it didn’t feel so uncomfortable like what she would have expected.
Apparently, sharing this silent moment with him actually felt...
Quite alright.

“Is that.... jasmine?” she suddenly popped up a question after they were sitting there in silence for quite a while.
“Huh?” he frowned.
She pointed to his hand, to the white-petaled flower he gripped tightly in his hand. Weird, he didn't even remember how the flower got into his hand. All the way there, he was just too consumed in watching her back.
“Oh, this. Uhm..., I don’t know... I found it somewhere... ,” before he had a chance to finish his sentence, she suddenly grabbed his wrist and drew his hand close to her nostrils.
She sniffed the flower in his hand...
While his heart was thumping like mad...
“Qi Li Xiang.” She nodded assuredly as she gently loosened her grip before letting go off his wrist.
“Huh?” he couldn’t help looking blur again, as she never failed to daze him.
She smiled again, and he still had a problem decoding her smile.
“That flower,... is called Qi Li Xiang (seven mile fragrance).” She explained shortly as her eyes were locked to the flowers in my hand, as though she was mesmerized by its beauty, “Ming Zi Zhen De Hen Mei, shi ba (the name is so beautiful, isn’t it)?”
“Ni xi huan? (Do you like it?)” he gave her a questioning look.
She smiled while looking straight into his eyes for two seconds, before shifting her gaze back to the flower, then back to the waterfall.
She didn’t answer him, but somehow, he managed to interpret her body language.
“Na... Gei Ni De. (Then... here’re for you).” he offered the flower to her, and for the first time he saw a trace of astonishment within her eyes.
“Zhen de (For real)?” She inquired, still looking half-disbelieved.
He nodded assertively.
Smiling, she took the flower from his hand and deeply inhaled its fragrance.
“Thanks,” she said incoherently as she flit her shy glance at him.
She blushed and her cheeks instantly turned into the look of fresh ripened tomatoes in the field. And all of a sudden, the season seemed to be so lovely.
He only wished he had his guitar with him,
Because all he could think was, he wanted to write a song....
About her...
