[Year 2004]
Jo and Hebe both sit on same table with their prospective clients. While their clients are checking on Jo’s portfolio, Hebe is the one who does the whole explaining. The clients are seemingly impressed by Jo’s work of art; they smile and nod every time they flip to the next page.
“What’s the scope for this project, by the way?” Hebe questions one the middle-aged guy analytically.
“Album promotion.” One of the guys answers before he closed Jo’s portfolio and stares at both of them earnestly. “We like the designs; seems to meet our standard, and I’m quite positive it matches the direct user’s preference as well. By the way, he’s having an interview at another table right now, and he’ll be joining us after it’s done.”
Piling both her hands on one another, Hebe flashes a good-natured smile to the clients, “We’re looking forward to meet him.”
Out of the blue, Jo feels her palms are sweating for no reason. Something is really bothering her, but she can’t figure out what…
It’s like her sixth sense tells her that she shouldn’t be here, at this very place…
It’s like her legs indicate her to stand and run away as fast as she can right at this second…
Or is it just her bad hunch?
“There he is...,” one of the guys points at someone standing behind where Jo and Hebe are seated. Jo holds her breath and her heart seems to freeze for five seconds.
Eagerly, Hebe turned around and gasped loudly, “OH-MY-GOD!”
Oh God, no…
Please… please tell me it’s not him.
Tell me it’s not him….

RIIIINGGG!!!
With one hand sticks to the steering wheel, Jay uses his other hand to quickly grab his mobile phone. His eyes were still watching the road.
“Are you busy?”
Jay adjusted the headset of his phone and smiled when he realized who called. “Hey XiaoZhu, what’s up.”
“Uhm… a lot.”
“Let me guess,… another gossip article about you having a crush on another female celeb?” Jay snickered. Jay was getting more accustomed to assume, that when XiaoZhu just finished reading rubbish articles about him, he would randomly called every one of his friends just to share his complaints. And this time, it was his turn.
“Well, yeah, that too, but I was thinking of something else, something more important.” XiaoZhu paused and he never sounded so serious before.
“Yes?” Jay couldn’t help but to feel overly curious.
“I just met her today.”
“Met who?” Jay raised one of his eyebrows.
“Jo.”
Jay was silent.
“JieLun,... do you want to meet her?”
“I think… better not.” His voice was weak. Somehow he found himself facing a problem to breathe normally over the mention of that name.
“But you still like her, don’t you?”
“XiaoZhu,... Jo, she's….” Jay took a long deep breath and released it in a sigh, “she's… my past.”
