“He what?!” Yeeun exclaimed.
Sunye had just finished telling her friends about the previous night.
“So he’s into you?” Seunghyun asked.
Seunghyun had always been protective of all his friends male or female & because he had no brothers or sisters of his own he considered Yeeun, Sunye & Taekyeon to be somewhat the closest things to the siblings he never had.
Smiling, Sunye replied “I don’t know & I don’t care”
Taekyeon grinned widely “At least you can say he’s got style, c’mon that’s a scene right out of a friggin movie”
Yeeun agreed “I wish Daesung did that to me, I need an agressive man aound me” she moaned
“What’s happening with this Daesung dude?” Seunghyun asked with an amused look.
“Nothing...much” she blew her breath “I mean we’ve kissed and stuff, but nothing further. He’s so hot I just wanna pin him down and touch him all ove-”
Taekyeon who was chowing down on a sandwich interrupted her. “Yeeun.. too much info”
Yeeun wrinkled her nose. “Not even near as much info as you give us though, I mean you’re the one who tells us who you sleep with & where”
I spat out my coke “Ugggh! don’t remind me”
Seunghyun re-wrapped his apple danish & stuffed it in his bag. “Thanks Yeeun I just lost my apetite”
Taekyeon took a bite out of his sandwich “But I don’t tell you when you’re eating.. theres the difference”
Yeeun rolled her eyes “It still makes me sick”.
On the verge of puking I changed the subject. “So anyway how come we haven’t seen Daesung yet?” I asked.
“I don’t know, he’s always busy. He plays Lacrosse for Nalgae and apparently he’s managing one of his Dads’ restaurants”
Taekyeon let out a low whistle. “ ‘One’ of his Dads’ restaurants?..so he’s a rich boy then”.
“If you go to Nalage you gotta be rich” Seunghyun scoffed.
“Not necessarily, Daesung says they have students that got in on scholarships” Yeeun said matter of factly.
“I doubt there are many of them though” I said. Seunghyun & Taekyeon stood up “We’re gonna go buy some drinks from the canteen, you two want anything?” Taek asked
“No thanks” I replied.
Yeeun snapped her fingers “Ahhh! I just remebered something. Daesung asked me to go to the Nalgae formal with him this Friday”
“And?” i asked
“His Dad won’t let him go without his cousin.. and his cousin won’t go unless he has a date so..I was wondering if...”
I could see immediately where this conversation was going. “No way..” I said firmly “I can’t go as some randoms guys date”
Yeeun pouted “If his cousin doesn’t go then he doesn’t go either..pleeease come, for me?” she begged, flashing a cheesy smile.
Sunye gave in to her friend “Fine! I’ll go...for you”. Yeeun hugged her tightly.
“Thanks Jookie”
It was Friday already & to Sunye it seemed unbelievably unreal how fast the week went by. Sunye worked 3 of the 4 shifts at Starbucks & to her relief that idiot Yunho didn’t come once, she wasn’t in the mood for seeing his face when she was trying to keep the ‘kiss’ out of her mind. She couldn’t admit to anyone that even though she was pissed off with him for forcing a kiss on her, at the very same time she actually thought he was a good kisser. Unlike boys in the past his lips were firm but gentle and he didn’t try to shove his tongue down her throat. The ringing of her cellphone broke her train of thoughts flipping it open & answered. “Hey”
“Hey, are you dressed? cause we’re waiting outside” it was Yeeun. Fixing her earrings in the mirror she replied.
“Yeah I’ll be down in a minute I’m coming down the stairs”
“Sweet it’s just me & Daesung well meet his cousin there”
“Okay I’m coming” she hung up when she got to the front door. Sohee looked her outfit over and beamed.
“Unnie you look really hot!” Her friends who were staying over nodded in agreement.
“Thanks, I’m going now I’ll be back.. uh whenever, bye!”
Walking down the driveway she was surprised to see Yeeun leaning against a long white limousine.
“Wow this is some ride..”
Grinning Yeeun opened the door for her “Get in sexy”
Sunye lifted her dress & shuffled in. There were already two people occupying the limo; a woman who looked to be in her 20’s sipping glass of wine & a boy around her age whom she guessed was Daesung. He grinned & greeted her. “Hi Sunye, it’s nice to finally meet my baby’s best friend, my name is Daesung Kang & this is my elder Sister Hyeyoung” he smiled & held out his hand. His Sister acknowledged her with a polite smile & “Hello”.
Sunye shook his hand “i’m glad to meet you both as well”.
Yeeun hopped in & closed the door “Okay people let’s go!”
Daesung called out to the driver “You heard my baby lets go!, by the way Sunye-ssi thank you very much for accompanying my cousin tonight; I wouldn’t have been able to go if it weren’t for you”
Sunye smiled again “That’s okay”.
They spent the 25 minute trip from her house to the Formal; nibbling on snacks, listening to music, talking about school, what interested them & other things including what career they’d want to pursue in the future.
Daesung seemed like a very nice, warm person very different to all of Yeeuns previous Boyfriends. His outer appearance was charming, He neither short nor tall he was just right. He also had small eyes & so whenever he smiled they disappeared under his eyelids. He & Yeeun made a great couple & he was always calling her his ‘baby’ which if it was someone else she would’ve thought them sleazy but not in this case. Whenever Daesung called Yeeun baby it sounded naturally sweet. She felt happy to see her friend so smitten.
They arrived at the Formal which was being hosted in the schools conference hall.
She didn’t see Yunho or any of his friends.. yet. Walking through the doors she felt a little nervous. Yeeun poked her excitedly “Isn’t it gorgeous in here?”
“It is” she replied. And it certainly was; with every inch of celing & wall covered in gold, silver & black decorations the hall looked as elegant as a palace.
Daesung who had separated from them to find his cousin was now back with her ‘date’.
“This is my cousin Joon Kang”
The boy who stood infront of her was so tall he towered over even Daesung. He had a very handsome face but it was covered with a goofy grin it looked as if he’d had a few. He smiled lazily “Hey, you must be Sunye my date”
Sunye responded politely “Yeah that’s me” although she felt a tad uncomfortable.
“I didn’t expect you to be hot” he said smirking. Yeeun gave her boyfriend a dangerous look as if she was saying ‘What’s with his attitude? say something!’ Daesung elbowed him in his side & gave him a look
“Watch it Joon, you better show her some respect..or else I won’t let you off this time”
Joon laughed it off and grabbed Sunyes hand “Let’s go get something to drink”. Daesung sighed and Yeeun gave mouthed ‘Are you okay?’ she mouthed back ‘I’m fine’ even though she didn’t really.
Whilst Joon was pulling her through the crowd she got curious looks and overheard people whispering about her, Yeeun & other people she guessed weren’t from their precious school. She ignored them and kept her eyes on Joons back.
After getting her a drink he asked if they could go outside for some fresh air she agreed since she was itching to get away from the crowd. There were a few people outside already, so they weren’t alone. Dinner had finished inside and she could hear clattering plates, laughter & music, looking through the window the dancefloor was full.
Joon took a sip of his punch and looked his date up & down, no doubt she was hot her dress was almost skin tight & it accentuated her curves so much he wanted to rip her clothes off right then & there. Deciding to make a move he slid his hand down her bare back, she jolted at his touch.
“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?” Sunye couldn’t believe she was being felt up again.
Joon grinned & whispered in her ear “What do you say; we ditch this thing and I’ll take you to my place?”
Sunye flung his hand away & shoved him against one of the balcony pillars “I say NO, & if you touch me again I’m gonna kick your jewels in” She turned back to the doors when he grabbed her again
“Hey what’s with the attitude? you were asking for it wearing something like- AAH!”
Sunye kneed his groin and continued through the doors, Joon stormed after her with an angry face. Desperate to find Yeeun & Daesung she shuffled through the dancefloor and searched the huge room to no avail. She spotted Yunho with a group of friends, and he was staring back at her with surprise. With Joon close behind Sunye ran up to Yunho ignoring his friends amused expressions. Wrapping her arms around his neck she kissed him softly on the lips. Although he was taken by surprise he didn’t refuse her, instead he slid his fingers around the nape of her neck and kissed back.
Sunye pulled back and whispered in his ear “Take me home”.
