Chapter 7

Maxed out

“YOU!” he exclaimed “What are you doing here?”
Yeeun & Sohee exchanged looks of interest. I rubbed my forehead again and gave him an answer “Well I’m here to watch the game of course” I said placidly
He had a smug look on his face “So you’re from Inyeon huh? I should’ve guessed as much. Your school has the worst reputation in the city” he sneered.
I took my seat and ignored his feeble attempts to wind me up “Whatever mango boy. You better go, your coach is calling you”.
He looked at his coach waving him over “Yunho, get over here now!”
“Pfft whatever & just for calling me mango boy I’m gonna whip your team asses extra hard”
Yeeun gasped “So he’s the mango boy? hahahaha!!” I grinned and nodded.
Yunho gritted his teeth and grunted before running to join his team mates & Coach.

Seunghyun arrived shortly after the game started with food & drinks “Yo Jookie, was that the Nalgae fag you were talking to?”
I patted the seat we saved for him and he sat down “Yeah it was” I said not taking my eyes off the game.
“What did he say?”
“Nothing much. The guy was trying to piss me off, saying some bull about our school having the worst rep and blah blah”
Seunghyun laughed “Is that all? what a dick”.
Yeeun popped a crisp in her mouth “The guys’ kinda cute though, but not my type”
I sipped my coke “Who cares if he’s cute? He’s an ass”. Sohee gave me a suspicious look
“So Unnie you agree he’s cute?” she asked.
“Seriously you’re looking too much into it” I said “Let’s just watch the game please”.
Taek scored a basket and looked over at us with a wink. Seunghyun roared loudly along with the Inyeon crowd “Yeah that’s my boy!!! woot!!”
I cheered as he ran past us beaming. The next two baskets were scored by Nalgae. Yunho who scored one of them caught my eye & smirked.
I pretended I didn’t see and continued cheering our team.

The game finished an hour later and we lost by 40 points.
Taekyeon came straight over “Hey. Stink game tonight if it weren’t for me Junsu & Wooyoung we wouldn’t have had any points”.
I cleared my throat upon the mentioning of Wooyoungs name.
Seunghyun stretched “Even though ya’ll got whipped it was a good game none the less”
I patted him on the back “Yeah great game, now go take a shower, you reek”
We all laughed “We’ll wait outside” Yeeun said.
“Sweet I’ll be out in 15 minutes max”

We started towards the exit when Yeeun nudged me. “What?”
“Wooyoung’s coming this way” she explained
She was right & he was looking straight at me. “Hey guys’”
Seunghyun acknowledged him with a slight nod then continued walking through the double doors out to the car park.
“Hey” Yeeun said. Sohee who was unaware of who he was just bowed and followed Seunghyun.
“Uh Sunye, could I talk to you for a minute?” he asked anxiously. I bit my lower lip and tucked my hair behind my ear.
“Yeah sure”.
Yeeun grinned & left us alone.

I sat down on an empty bench. “So what do you want to say to me?” I asked calmly
Wooyoung sat down beside me. Taking a deep breath he spoke. “Since the day I asked you out, You & I have been avoiding each other. I just want to say I’m cool with how you feel, so you don’t have to feel awkward around me or anything….” He paused & studied my expression then continued “We’re at the same school, we have a lot of the same classes & we even share some of the same friends. So are we cool?” he asked
I smiled “Yeah of course we are. Sorry I avoided you I didn’t really know what to say. I mean you’re a great looking guy & everything but I just got a lot of shit to deal with & I can’t really fully commit to a relationship until I’m ready.. you know what I mean?” I asked
His lips curled into a smile “Yeah I do. So, Mates?” he held out his hand & I took it.
“You better believe it.” I laughed.
