Chapter 9

Confession.

~Eunkyung's point of view~
I laid my head on the windowsill, letting the sun wash over my face. The birds were all cheerfully chirping outside. It's a Sunday morning and Kyuhyun had gone out of town. I wasn't up to anything today, so I never called up anyone. I lifted up my head and rested them on my knees, wrapping my arms around them. I heard footsteps approaching swiftly. Then, as expected, a knock.
Soo Jin's voice rang through my door & into my ears. "Eun Kyung, you have a guest outside."

...'who could it be?'
I slowly walked over to the door & dragged my lazy feet downstairs.

"Thank you..." Sungmin's voice was polite. I got to the last step and felt my leg go spaghetti on me. With a thump and an "ooof!" I landed onto the floor.

"Are you okay?" I could hear Sungmin's silent laugh behind his voice. How am I supposed to act now? Coldly? But didn't he just asked if I was okay? Didn't that mean he cared? No, he didn't care. He was the one who knew I didn't like Sang-Hee. The girl who pretended to be my friend, who did those devilish acts to get me embarassed in front of the whole entire school.

I shook my head as Sungmin offered his hand to me. Instead of taking it, I picked myself up.

"What do you want from me?" I questioned him with a cold edge to my voice.

"Mianhae." His voice sounded restless now. His eyes looked sincere and truthful when mine met his.

Speechless, I only opened my mouth with empty words. So I closed it instead.

"You mind taking a walk?" His voice was dry now. I nodded and headed out to the yard, Sungmin right behind me.
We took a seat on the swingset of my jungle gym where Kyuhyun & I used to play on when we were small. My mind started to become more crazy with all of the mixed feelings coming at me.

He sighed and watched as i kicked the sand looking down. "Are you going to not look at me?" He sounded hurt.

I looked up at him and burst into tears. I felt the warmth of his body flow into mine as he walked nearer. In an instant Sungmin's shoulder was there soaking up my tears. I felt my fist pound hard on his chest. He stood there, motionless. His arms made his way around my body and he hugged me tight. I couldn't help holding all of this in anymore. I should be pushing him away, telling him to leave my house, leave Seoul Korea. Whatever it took to keep him away from me. To keep the bad memories of him away. For the past days that I've been back next to Kyuhyun, I had started to feel like I was healing. But just one look at Sungmin had brought me into tears. I couldn't feel anything but the hot teardrops running down my face, his warm body against mine, and the love that still passionately burns for Sungmin.

~Kyuhyun's point of view.~
I threw the ring high up into the air. Today is the day that I will confess my true feelings to her. Today is the day that I will bring the scheme that Eunkyunggie and I into reality. I looked into the rearview mirror as my chauffer drove me over to Eunkyung's house. I gave a smug smirk at my relfection and fixed my hair. My parents had gone out of town, and I told everyone that I was going with them purposely to surprise her.

Arriving shortly after checking my reflection, I briskly made my way across the front lawn and through the front doors of her house.

"OMO! Mrs. Choi!" My eyes darted toward the source of the yelling. Soo Jin kneeled next to Mrs. Choi, who is laying on the floor breathing heavily. I sprung into action and flew to her side, trying to talk her into relaxing & breathing properly.

"Her heart...aigoo..." Soo Jin's flustered face stared into the face of Eunkyung's mother. Maids were rushing around getting her medicine, calling the hopsital, crowding around the sick yelling directions to one another. Soo Jin's eyes were full of tears. My mind went straight to Eunkyung and I gasped.

"Soo Jin...where's Eunkyung-ah?" Speaking through tears, Soo Jin pointed into the direction of the backyard. I sprinted and jumped over furniture and pushed open the screen doors. It didn't take long for me to find her. What I didn't expect was Sungmin, who's arms were around the girl I thought he knew was off limits to him...

A maid ran past me & over to Eunkyung. I watched as her face went from a blank expression, to a scared one. I could smell her hair as she dashed past me and into the house. Her smell was replaced by the scent of the one I called my best friend, who jogged past me and into the house. Both of my best friends had not even acknowledged my presence.

I sat on the bench that sat right outside of the room Mrs. Choi was placed in. Eunkyung, her appa, along with Soo Jin and my parents, were inside, sitting next to Mrs. Choi. I cupper my face into my hands and let out a long sigh. Sungmin sat across from me looking down without a sound.

"When did this happen?" my voice quivered with anger.

"What are you tal-" Sungmin started.

"You know what I'm referring to." I snapped. I felt betrayed by him. Even at this point, he still tries to deny it. I got up and grabbed the collar of his shirt and slammed him into the wall behind him, shaking it.

"Four years ago." Sungmin's voice sounded very dry. The fire in my body seemed to turn down a bit after hearing just that.

Sungmin continued with no hesitation. "I met her while I was walking to class. Classic start, really. She dropped her books, and I picked it up for her. It went from there...Mianhae, I didn't know she was the girl you were talking about." Sungmin's eyes didn't leave the floor. I took in a deep breath and let it out. Slowly I let go of Sungmin's shirt and loosened my fists.

"Mianhae...Sungmin-sshi. I should've asked..." I slumped down onto the bench lost for words.

Sungmin put his arm around my shoulders and squeezed my right shoulder. "It's okay, we didn't ask for it." he gave me a small smile. I returned it with a smile too.
