He froze.
The sudden interruption chilled his blood. Surprised that he could be caught red-handed when he was feeling the most vulnerable, his whole body stood still, stuck at the same spot. There was something in the voice that made his heart leapt twice as fast, something that he wasn’t accustomed to since he entered the police force. This wasn’t what he had in mind when he agreed to check this abandoned building out. Not at all.
So why the hell do his body freeze at this unholy hour?
“I think it’s time for you to pick up your pistol that is, if you still want to catch me of course.” Amusement trickled in the voice as it rang loud and clear in the huge empty space.
It took a moment for him to react, a moment too pricey if you included the very fact that the man who was wanted by more than fourty countries was standing right in front of him. “Is this a trap?” He spoke coldly as his hand once again gripped the cold metal of his weapon.
“What do you he think?” Those eyes burned cool as sunlight streamed though one of the many windows high up the wall.
“Is your brother double-crossing me?” He spoke, all the while thinking that this unplanned decision was a bad choice to start with.
“The person you are speaking of was long gone.” The voice changed, much to his surprise. It was something else; something more that he would never thought the criminal was capable of feeling. It was evident in those eyes, no doubt about it. “He died four years ago when he turned his back on me.”
“Ahh, so you do know the meaning of being betrayed?” He replied mockingly. “How does it feels like, Mr. Kim, to know that the one you have trusted the most stabbed you right in the back?”
The effect of his sentences meant nothing to the delinquent standing a few metres away from him and the both of them knew that all too soon. “It’s no use trying to make me mad. You and I both know that the reason to why we are both here is because of someone else.”
“Then let’s stop beating over the bush, shall we?” He replied, his gun still pointing at the man across him. “Why don’t you turn yourself over to the police so that I could go back to my office, take out that thick damn file in my first drawer and closed it? I think it’s a good idea, don’t you?”
A raised eyebrows. “And why would you even think that I’m the one with a handicapped here, Mr. Park?”
“Aww, Junnie, come on!” He chuckled loudly, tears brimming his eyes. “Why are you being so formal? Care to give me a nickname like I did for you? Come on, and try it! Maybe your nickname for me would be ‘the sexy officer who put my bubble butt ass in a cell’, now wouldn’t that be fun?”
“I think this is starting to irk the both of us out.”
“Not me.” He whispered quietly, those eyes observant of every single move the other man was making. “Definitely not me. I have been waiting for months just to play this game with you.”
“This is never a game. You are a fool if you think it is.”
“Listen to me, you son of the bitch. The moment you messed with my brother, you messed with me. Pushing my brother down the balcony is just one thing that I couldn’t let you escape, at least not with just a measly sorry.”
Realization dawned upon those eyes. “It’s a mistake.”
“A mistake that cost my brother his life, his future, his everything!” He screamed as he took a step closer. “No one touches my family and escapes scot-free. You did just that, Junnie and I’m sorry but I can’t let you, not now, not ever. You have my attention now, more than ever, and we are already playing this game. Now tell me, Junnie, how do we play this twisted game of yours?”
“I don’t-”
“Oh, don’t tell me, let me think.” He interrupted, pretending as though he was thinking hard. “Do we involve someone else for you to sacrifice, Junnie? Oh no, wait, I have something better!” Eyebrows furrowed, his eyes lit up as he waved his free hand around.
“Would you like to include another pawn in this game? Maybe someone close to your blackened heart? Oh, I don’t know-” He pft-ed with a pouted lips. “Maybe your other brother?”
“No.” The delinquent took a step backwards, apparently caught by surprise. “No, you can’t know.” He whispered.
A smile. “Do you even think I would be dumb enough to investigate only you and not your remaining blood relations? This is a game. Win or lose, it’s how we play this game. So tell me, now that I have shown my weapon, what about yours?”
“Don’t you dare touch Junho!” The criminal shouted, his voice echoed through the walls.
“And what if I do?”
“Don’t drag him into this-” The other man replied, his voice now showing a hint of threat.
“What if I want to?” He advanced towards the delinquent, his aim at him full of fury and unforgiving, “Are you going to push me off the balcony too so that I could join my brother in his hospital room, both of us rotting in coma?”
Much to his surprise, the other man didn’t move. He took steps towards him again, and still he didn’t move an inch.
“Actually, I was thinking of something shallower but you just gave me an idea,” The man fought with the policeman’s glare as he made his way to him, his breath touching the skin on his face, “So yes. I’m going to push you off the balcony so that you could join your brother. I wonder why you would even care about him. He’s as useless as a discarded whore.” He smiled sheepishly, insulting every ounce of pride that the officer had inside.
Then and there, he knew he couldn’t take it anymore.
Taking out parts of his fury, he hit his face with the hilt of his gun and sent him stumbling towards the dusty ground; letting his emotions take over his actions, he pointed the gun towards him, “Go to fucking hell.”
Wiping the blood on his lower lip, Kim Junsu propped himself up with his elbows, an amused face clearly etched in his handsome features, “Oh, now, Mr. Park, are you trying to make me laugh?” He said, mimicking his past words. “Like you could kill me anyway. Go on, do it. I dare you.”
Then he pulled the trigger –- only to realize that the hilt was empty. “How’d that happen?” He eyed the criminal and stood dumbstruck.
There, right in front of the dumb-founded man, Junsu stood up, holding the commercial in his hand and waving it to his face. “Oh, Mr. Park, why are you so stupid?”
“Y-you…” he stuttered, not wanting to believe he fell for the other man’s scheme again.
“But sometimes, stupidity is a huge turn-on for me.” He followed his direction to his empty hand as he grabbed something small from his back pocket. Something was telling the officer to fight back and stop him but his gun was unloaded.
“Ahhh!” He groaned as his skull started to pound painfully again; his hands shot out to grab his throbbing head. At the corner of his eyes, he recognized another weapon in the other’s hand.
Tranquilizer?
And before he knew it, he was knocked out cold.

“There’s no use trying to hide in the dark when I could see you as clearly as daylight.” Changmin replied coldly, his gun pointing to that one spot, hidden by a mountain of crates and boxes.
Furuya Keita, a member of the underground group – Hazied , allowed himself to walk out from behind the curtain of brown cardboards while clapping his hands mockingly. “I’m amazed by your skill.” He winked.
“So I guess, where the boss goes, the sidekicks goes.”
“Come on, Min, it’s been a while since we last met, cut down on the sarcasm, would you?” Keita replied as he sat on one of the crates, “I miss you, Min.”
“It’s Changmin to you.” The police officer replied coldly.
“Do I have to call you that?” Keita replied, acting surprised, and Changmin frowned. “After what we had, do I still have to call you Changmin?”
“What we had was in the past, it’s over between us. And wrong, you had lost the right to call me Min long ago.”
“I don’t think so.” A significant mulling as the other man stood up slowly. “Because the last time I check the information counter in my brain, I pretty much remember all the curves your body have. The memory of how you taste was still right here.” Keita pointed to his head. “I like to taste it again, if you would let me.”
“We are poles apart; I bet we will never be on the same level ever again. So you can satisfy your inner demon right now because no way in hell am I going to let you into my bed ever again.” Changmin said, surprisingly calm.
A raised eyebrow. “Status had never been a problem to you.”
“People changed and as far as I’m concerned, I did and it’s for the better. Beside, I don’t have the time to remember all those nostalgic moments when I’m too busy trying to catch that boss of yours and of course, you.” Changmin replied mockingly.
Something flickered in those eyes just like a glass gleaming in sunlight. “Junsu is not the man you think he is.”
“Aww, are you protecting your boss, how noble.” Changmin replied sarcastically. “Did you sleep with him after you choose to be a mobster?”
“Don’t insult the both of us, Min.” Keita replied warningly.
“Oh, come on, who are you trying to kid?” Changmin waved his hands about. “Junsu was hot from what I gathered, you must be tempted at the very least, don’t tell me you guys still haven’t done it?”
“There’s no other man than you.”
“And do you expect me to melt into a puddle of gooey love for you just because you said that? It’s your choice that things turned out the way it was, your choice to turn your back against our future just for a moment’s folly.” Changmin whispered. “There’s nothing between us now except for the desire of a police officer to catch a criminal.”
And just as serious as the atmosphere had gotten, it became the exact opposite. “So we are playing police and thief now?” Keita hopped up and down. “That’s exciting!”
“You still haven’t change, do you? Always thinking that it’s alright to act silly and all that.”
“Life’s too short to be taken seriously all the time.”
“Life’s too short to be a criminal but that didn’t stop you from being just that.” Changmin retorted.
“I have my reasons to be where I am right now.”
Changmin nodded, too bitter to every try to deny what’s right and what’s not. “Reasons that doesn’t involve me.”
“And here I thought you aren’t the kind of guy to judge something without understanding.”
“You must have known the wrong guy.”
A short moment of silence. “Looks like.”
Changmin snorted. “Guys like you don’t know consequences. Never will. I’ll never forgive you for dragging Hyrion with you just like that.”
“Circumstances, Min, never forget that.”
“Circumstances are mould by the decisions human make!”
“It’s not my entire fault…”
“Then whose fault is it, mine?” Changmin spat back, flashing a fractious look towards the other man.
Keita merely chuckled, “Well, if you want my honest opinion, it was yours truly.” He crossed his arms, his expression unreadable, “Okay, maybe just a part of it. Hyrion was your friend, right? A damned close one. And what did you do? You arrested him. It seemed like you forgot all about your friendship.”
“Shut the hell up!” Changmin replied, taking steps towards Keita, “I’ll make sure to put you in prison along with your associates and leader.”
“I’ll be waiting for that. And after you catch me, maybe we can do other things,” He smiled at the officer and gave him a wink, “But for now, I got to go. Time passes so fast when we are having fun.” He made a gesture to move past Changmin.
The officer blocked Keita’s path, “You’re not going anywhe—” But a huge blow from the back of his head and he was sent down to his knees. He heard another voice behind him…
Then everything went black.

This is technically the first meeting between the two pairings and quite expectantly, there’s quite some tragic past between all of them but that’s the fun part of it all, right? ^.^
