Chapter 29

Dilemma, Dilemma.

Hebe eyed the person she just bumped into from the corner of her eyes and cursed in her head mentally. Luck just had to be on her side – when she had the courage to express herself, he was gone and now she had nearly convinced herself to forget about it, he was back. She stared back straight ahead, swinging her arms alongside her, slightly skipping along the way. The silence was killing her little by little; she hated silences, especially awkward ones. “So Aaron, why are you here now?” She asked, breaking it off since he showed no intention to break it anytime soon.

Aaron turned to look at her, “Well… I actually was supposed to be coming here and not stopping by Denmark but due to the weather conditions, the plane had to do an emergency landing in Denmark instead.” He explained, “I wanted to tell you that I had to leave… but… I guess… well…” he paused, not knowing how to continue on.

Hebe just nodded her head in acknowledgement. “Oh I see ‘cause I was just looking for you after and yeah,” she said, not thinking of what just slipped out of her mouth. She quickly clasped her hands over her mouth in shock at her blunt comment just now.

He turned to look at her when he heard what she said with his eyebrows raising slightly and a small mischievous grin hanging on his lips in that perfect way Hebe had remembered. “Is that so?” He asked, trailing off near the end, bugging her.

She quickened her pace a little, “No, I was just bored.” She lied, biting her tongue to prevent herself from talking further and stirring up more things than she intended to. If maybe he asked once again… maybe, she will say yes.

Seeing her walking ahead of him, Aaron quickly grabbed onto her wrist to stop her. “Hebe,” He said in a serious tone now, “did you think about what I told you back in Denmark at the restaurant?” He said, looking at her in the eye hoping to seek an answer that was hidden somewhere inside.

Hebe blinked, pretending to forget but her intentions were for him to say it once more before she gave her answer. “Say what?”

Little did she know that she had underestimated him. Aaron knew Hebe better than she expected and he could tell by her eyes that she remembered but won’t say it. “When I said that I miss you and want you to give me another chance – a real chance.” He said in a short, simple confession.

She turned away slightly to the side, pretending to look at the ocean on the other side of her but she was only trying to hide the smile that was slowly forming on her face. She tried to control it and stop it, but somehow she seems to have lost control of her lips. “You’re so corny.” She commented.

He peeked over to see Hebe’s and saw her smiling. Aaron, too, gave a grin and moved down from her arms to her hand, holding it tightly. “This time it’s for real.” He said, “not pretending anymore.” Hebe looked over at him, showing no emotions, just a blank face. “What’s wrong?”

She shook her head, “Nothing. I think I’m just too nice to you. I can’t believe I just gave in that easily.” She grumbled loud enough for him to hear.

Aaron responded to her complaint with chuckles and pulled her in closer to him. “That just means you love me too much.” He said with a small tease in his tone. Hebe just looked away, pretending to ignore him.

“Is this where you live now?” he asked, standing at the front doors of the apartment building Hebe lived in.

She nodded her head, “Where are you staying?” She asked.

“The hotel right by the airport, so it’s easier for me since I don’t need to go anywhere, I’m only here for a meeting.” He explained.

“Oh,” Hebe replied, nodding her head. At the mention of him only here for a meeting, she thought back to Denmark when she went back to the hotel and found out he was gone. Her expression turned slightly sad.

Aaron noticed her expression demoting to a sad one, “Don’t worry, I’ll stay here for longer now that I know you’re here though,” He said with a smile, trying to cheer her up.

“But you’ll have to eventually move back,” She pointed out pessimistically.

He gave a grin, “That’s why I have a few days to convince you to move back with me.”

“Huh?” She asked although she heard him clearly. Hebe gave him a weird look, “You want me to move back??”

He nodded his head, “Yeah, it’s not like I don’t have enough to take care of you, you don’t even have to work! And if you’re here and I’m there, I’m going to miss you so much I won’t be able to work or vice versa.” He explained with a dorky grin.

Hebe rolled her eyes, “Yeah right, I was living fine without you ever since I came here,” She retorted before sticking her tongue out at him.

“But do you miss Genie? I’m sure she’ll love to have you back,” He said in a singsong voice.

Hebe narrowed her eyes at him with a frown, “You so did not just bring her name out to guilt-trip me!” She said slapping him on the arms. “You’re such a jerk.” She said crossing her arms and turning away from him.

“Aw come on, we all miss you, and it’s not like you have fun here, I mean it’d be nice here but we can always come back for vacation or even honeymoon when we’re married,” he said with a smirk, wrapping his arms around her waist, hugging her from behind.

Hebe slapped his hands, “Nobody said I have plans to get married soon or to you.” She shot back playfully. “Don’t assume things so fast.” She said making a face at him after she pulled away.

He pretended to look hurt at her rejection. “But I do want you to come back, can’t you apply to work back at the head company again?” He asked with a puppy-dog face.

She thought for a bit, she was a sucker when it came to puppy-dog faces. “I’ll think about it ok?” She said. “I’m going to go now, I still have work tomorrow.”

Aaron nodded his head, “Alright then, just come find me tomorrow when you’re off work,” He said with a smile. Before she left, Aaron took the chance to give her a goodnight kiss.

Right before Hebe opened the door to her apartment, she turned around and looked at Aaron. “Aaron… why don’t you just stay at my apartment?” She offered, “Instead of staying at a hotel since you said you’ll be staying here for a bit longer?”

“Really?” He said feeling surprised at the offer.

Hebe nodded her head. “I have an extra guest room here so you can sleep there.”

He smiled, “Thanks, but I’ll just move in tomorrow then. It’s too late now and you have work tomorrow, so I’ll just bring my stuff over tomorrow. Go home now, you have work tomorrow.” He urged her to go home. Hebe smiled and waved goodbye before going inside the apartment building

As Hebe made her way up to her flat, she bumped into Jaejoong along the way. “Hey Jae!” She chirped happily with a smile brighter than usual.

Jaejoong raised an eyebrow in suspicion, “Why are you especially happy today?” He asked, narrowing his eyes at her as if she was guilty.

Hebe leaned backwards and gave him a weird look as she pushed him away. “What? I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She denied as the elevator doors opened and they both exited it. She turned to him out of curious, “Um Jae, is it ok if I have someone moving in with me just for like a little while?” She asked.

Jaejoong gave a weird face but nodded his head nevertheless, “Yeah why not, it’s your flat to live in.” He said laughing. “Why you have someone moving in with you?”

She nodded her head, “Yeah, well someone is moving in with me just for a bit until he’s going back.” She explained briefly before digging out her keys to her flat. “Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow then, thanks.” She smiled and waved before opening the door and walking in.

Jaejoong stood there staring at her when she mentioned it was a boy. He shook his head and gave a silly grin mentally telling himself it wasn’t his business.

That night, Hebe rolled around her bed, trying to decide if she should go back with Aaron or not. She was doing fine here, her career is stabled, she made new friends and fitted in well with everyone else in the office. Sure, she missed Genie back there and wanted to go back but she also will miss the people in Belgium too. ‘What a dilemma.’ She thought as she shut her eyes for the umpteenth time trying to sleep.
