Chapter 1

I - Not very cool to me.

As expected, I went home to download the songs from mIRC to burn them into a CD for Lydia. As I was an avid downloader of mp3s, my computer boasts a large collection of downloaded albums from Jpop to even Techno, Rock and Classical.

"Britney... got it... A*mei... got it..." I checked off the songs I had to download for burning. The only song left was Ke Ai Nu Ren. At that time I was so into English and Jpop that I haven't seen nor heard the name Jay Chou before.

"Jay Chou... Ke Ai Nu Ren..." Ah there it was... so hard to find. I patiently waited it to download as I busied with myself with other stuff.

Intrigued by this new unknown artiste, I played the downloaded song in Winamp.

'Xiang yao you zhi shen ji....'

'Piao liang de rang wo mian hong de ke ai nu ren...'

'Wen rou de rang wo xin tong de ke ai nu ren...'

'Chong ming de rang wo gan dong de ke ai nu ren...'

'Huai huai de rang wo feng kuang de ke ai nu ren...'

Hm. Ok fine. That's it? Big deal. I thought how interesting or inspiring this Jay Chou could be... but that's it? BAH.

I turned on the radio to 98.7fm for The Ego Trip that was going to be aired soon.

'You treat me like a roseeeee~' The croonings of A1 played on air.

Yea. Just the kind of english pop that suited me best to accompany me throughout a quiet night of studying as such. Time to finish those undone assignments!

However, that night, I dreamt of a faceless guy mumble-singing 'Piao liang de rang wo mian hong de ke ai nu ren...'

"Hey Lydia, ur CD's ready!" I called out to the sweet talker.

"OOOH~ thank you dahhling. I'll treat you to a drink after school or something ya?"

"Nah. Its no big deal." I smiled to her.

"Oh yes dear, did you listen to the songs in the CD? There's quite a bit said about the new R&B singer Jay Chou... His songs are pretty worth listening to!"

"Are you going to start converting me into a Mandopop listener? Again? You know it doesn't work..." I replied, uninterested in any speeches about how interesting certain new singers of Mandopop are.

"Oops... I forgot. You're heart is forever stuck with that floppy hair guy of A1! Ahaha~ worry not my dahhling I shall go listen to the CD now. Thanks alot once again!" Lydia blew a kiss at me.

"AM NOT!" I protested, but of course, she didn't catch it. I shook my head. This girl...

From then on, I haven't much heard about Jay Chou nor much of Mandopop anymore probably coz I was too besotted... yes with the floppy hair guy from A1.

'You treat me like a roseeeee~'

Until a year later, the name Jay Chou resurfaced.
