Chapter 9

Jay - A sense of loneliness.

I was greeted by a horde of reporters during the press conference after the concert, well at least not as much as the number of reporters during my concerts in other countries.

Mics were shoved into my face trying to get my attention.

"How did you think you fare, Jay?"

"It was fantastic. I'll give myself 85 marks for today's concert. And I shall keep improving for consecutive concerts to fill in the remaining 15 marks." I replied, grinning slightly.

"How did you find the fans in Singapore?"

"They were very warm..."

A sudden image of a girl in red with a beautiful smile flashed across my mind.

"...And they have very sweet smiles..." I coughed, in fear of giving myself away. "Very glad that Singaporean fans haven't forgotten about me even after not coming here for 2 years."

They have very sweet smiles. Indeed.

"Goodnight Jay! Rest well, Lin JunJie says he's free to join you for a shopping spree tomorrow! We'll be taking an evening flight to Taiwan tomorrow..." Dingdang reminded me. I nodded. She closed the door of my luxurious suite to leave me for my rest.

I changed out of my clothes into shorts. Ahh. Much more comfortable. I had always liked the feeling of changing into plain shorts after every event. Gives me the feeling of relaxation since work has ended for the day. I looked at the clock at the dressing table. It was past 1am already.

I dropped myself on the bed and stared at the ceiling.

The large room was empty except for me. The only noise I could hear was the faint sounds of traffic outside seeping through gaps in the window.

At these times, one could not help but feel a strong yet familiar sense of loneliness - especially after every concert. A room this large can be used to hold a party, yet there was only me. Just a few hours ago, I was just right on the stage enjoying every moment of my concert with 10,000 fans screaming for me. Now all I am getting is total silence. This vast difference undeniably gives one a pang of loneliness.

Only I can truly feel the loneliness as such, only I can understand the difference.

I tried to recall the adrenaline rush during the concert, and seeing my fans supporting me below, I can't help but smile. I remembered seeing the girl's face too. The lost sheep, ah yes...

I saw her smile... her beautiful smile.

Subconsciously, I fell asleep.

"Don't worry I think Singaporean fans are not as crazy as those in other countries... I doubt there is paparazzi too. At least none that I know of..." JJ reassured me.

However, for precautionary purposes, we both wore shades before leaving the hotel, and me wearing a cap. Er. To complete the hiphop look?

I scrutinized the area closely, with my 6 bodyguards following me. To watch out for evil paparazzis has become a habit for me, such that I was becoming too mindful and unable to fully relax at times. However walking around here doesn't seem that threatening. I heaved a sigh of relief.

Crazy fans, I think I can handle, or my bodyguards will be there. But mad snapping monsters? Who can stop them?

I guess my disguise wasn't good enough or that my entourage consisting of 2 Mandopop stars in shades, 6 body guards and some other minders was too eye-catching. Ok I think it was both. Soon enough, there were people whispering to themselves while following us around and pointing at me. Its all fine to me though. I love my fans. Besides, having fans following you while shopping was DIAO.

I pranced into Mambo and checked out a few printed tees, me and JJ were trying on different outfits and enjoying our shopping spree. Apparently, we were happily shopping so much such that both of us didn't realise the number fans that were following us haa snowballed to a massive group of a hundred.

"Oh my, SO MANY PEOPLE!" I gasped to JJ. "Do your fans in Singapore follow you like that?"

"Hahaha... Not really. I usually shop around unnoticed. Maybe a few fans asking for autographs only." JJ laughed. "Other Singaporean actors and actresses can even go to the market in simplewear and not getting pounced on by fans or curious passr-bys... Seriously, it must be you."

"They seem quite mild though, just following. Not bad... quite diao isn't it?" I replied gleefully.

"It is, it is! Hahaha..."

Eyeing the huge crowd behind us, I can't help but wonder if that girl was in there.

"Jay! Can I have an autograph?" A fangirl waved to me, but was glared at by one of my bodyguards. Poor girl. Not the one I was looking for.

After looking around the crowd for some time and waving a little at my fans, I still didn't manage to catch her fac in the huge crowd.

She couldn't be here. Couldn't be so coincidental. But if fate plays this way, I might just go talk to her. After all, I am one who believes in love at first sight. Wait a minute... love at first sight? I can't deny i was mesmerised by her smile... but... love? Wait another minute... Hello~ You're like Asian Pop Prince JAY CHOU.

"You okay? Let's go to the next shop." JJ's voice interrupted my thoughts, I guess he caught me stoning there for a second.

"Oh right, let's go." Oops. Almost got caught there. What on earth was I thinking anyway.

I walked on with the entourage tagging behind me. I felt like a king! Haha...

Somewhere within the crowd there was a little voice I must have missed out, due to the fact I was enjoying every moment acting KING...

"Hey mister, can you help me pass this to Jay? Thanks a lot."
