The Forewords (Sneak Preview):
“Well, if you think in my way, you have to admit that good and bad co-exists. They must. If not, without people who commit crimes, the police force will have nothing to do. The society definitely need people who commit crimes so that the police force can do their work, the effectiveness of your police force can then be reported and shown.” Leila said, acting like a serious professor teaching a student who does not understand a difficult theory.
“However, that is certainly not a valid reason for you to commit stupid crimes and get yourself into trouble and risk your worthless life! Get a proper job and become a good person! The world does not need so many wicked people who commit dumb sins and crimes for the idiotic sense of thrill! Furthermore, I think that those wicked people would not want a lousy thief like you to be in their line.” Ron argued determinedly. He has been trying very hard to change Leila into one of the good citizens who will abide by the laws of the country.
Leila leans towards Ron and looks at him in the eyes.
“Ron Ng, senior police officer, has cracked so many cases successfully but still fails to change or even capture Leila Tong, a rookie thief.” Leila chuckles. “No matter how much you dislike my theory, you have to admit that it still stands. Why don’t you just grab me and put me in jail? Why do you have to waste so much effort to transform me into your goody-goody citizen? Oh. Are you in love with me, thus, you cannot bear to put me in jail and you want me to become a good person to match up with your status as an effective professional senior officer?” Leila blinks her eyes, with a crooked smile on her face.
“Shut up, Leila Tong! I am definitely not in love with you. Stop dreaming. You know I can’t put you in jail due to lack of evidence. I hate to admit this, but you are good at hiding your flaws, always leaving only traces of evidence for the police force. And even after you have stolen my money, I still could not gather enough evidence against you. You are lucky now but your luck can’t last forever.” Ron retorts and gives a smack on Leila’s forehead.
“Ouch. You don’t have to be so violent!” Leila rubs her forehead and then reveals her signature grin of triumph, “I will be waiting for that day my lucks rubs off and you putting me in jail.” With that, Leila took her handbag and left.
“Damn it.” Ron cursed. This thief has managed to escape even though she has stolen so many things. That is not the worst. He, Ron Ng, the most successful policeman in the region, fails to capture her but instead he could feel that she is slowly stealing his heart away …

Where I got this Inspiration for T.H.I.E.F:
A summary of an old old old old old old storybook in my mother’s cabinet. But that story is magical with all the kingdom and princes and princesses. I love the idea of having a thief as a main character. So I choose to use this ‘occupation’ for Leila Tong, my main female lead, in the story. (;
If my story coincides with any other stories, it is a coincidence. All I can say is “Great minds think alike” or my friend would always retort that “fools don’t defer”. :p
